The back of yo head looks like a pack of hot dogs.
It was still easy to make tons of assets and features back then. Now every little thing has to be of consistent uber-high quality or its OH NO NO NO NONONO HAHAAAAA
Jesus Christ CJ, easy on the chicken...
Vice City was better
>tfw jumping on a car hood and rapidly karate kicking it until it explodes
Busta spotted
Same reason it's the most memed game, black people are funny.
>stab policeman to death
>switch weapons while still doing the stabbing animation
>now stabbing his corpse with a dual-sided dildo
it isn't
you think it's good because you played it when you were a teen
I hated it as a teen because I was an edgy racist but playing it now I have come to appreciate how good of a game it actually is.

Motherfucker someone finally says it. This is why I really wish both graphicwhoring would stop for second and for n64-ps2 tier 3d graphics to make a stylistic comeback. It'd allow the devs to focus so, so, so much fucking more on everything else. FF7 vs FF7R is a good example of this developmental difference. People will call SE lazy but recreating a game like FF7 while maintaining today's expected level of graphical fidelity and scope within any comfortable window of time is absolutely fucking unreasonable.
I remember playing the 2 player mode with my cousin when I was younger. I'm pretty sure I have it on steam and kind of want to play it again just for the nostalgia. Is it really the classic that everyone makes it out to be?
...
I revisit it every few years on steam and always have a good time beating it again.
why were citizens in the 3D gta much more memorable than the ones in later games?
Probably because you see them more often since there's less of them and they just get copypasted everywhere
THEM WHITE BOIS HAD ME ON CRYSTAL METH

YOU'RE LIKE MY ASSHOLE
ALWAYS HOLDING SHIT
That's my idea for making a new game. I want to make a Commandos 2 style game in terms of the characters but with environments and joystick-controlled gameplay like MGS3/MGS5. I already have a few characters inspired by Commandos. An MGS3 Snake copy in the character of an Irish Green Beret, but unlike the Commandos 2 Green Beret, he's less gruff and more like Snake. Also, a Russian sniper and a younger handsomer French spy. The French spy might be the catalyst for a plot twist. PS2 graphics, especially MGS3, were great. When Inget a new computer I'm going to try to make the best most Yea Forumsapproved game ever made.
Was getting fat something you had to purposefully go out of your way to do? You spend so much time running that skeleton mode just came naturally.
There are always indie games that use lower effort graphics and will be able to have more content as a result. They will never have the same massive scale as the real AAA games that used those kinda graphics (like San Andreas) though
You have to do it for one of the GFs in the game.
But of course the cutscenes will have to be non-existent. I might pay people for easier methods of getting narrative across, like Max Payne's graphic novel cutscenes.
This is what I want to avoid when making a game. There's too much trash out there.
epic, upvoted
sounds pretty hype desu
Wrong. I didn’t play it until I was 23 and it became my instant favorite game of all time or at least in the top three. I’ve since spent hundreds of hours doing every little thing possible in game.
first thing I tried in GTA V
THAT ESE PUT DUST IN MY WEED
Why have there been so many San Andreas threads lately?
>crappy standalone expansion pack for gta 3 with smaller shittier map and LE 80S XDD garbage
>better than sa
For me the best thing about San Andreas is the characters, story and voice acting (I mean you had fucking Samuel L. Jackson voicing the main "villain", for fuck's sake). It's just such a comfy game. The gameplay (especially the gunplay) is already pretty dated, sadly. Shooting shit just doesn't feel so satisfying as in GTA IV or V. But it still is the best GTA, by far. The map, the costumization (I don't understand why would they get rid of gyms/tattoos/eating, it just seems dumb and lazy) are awesome. I think a lot of the appeal of San Andreas' story comes from the fact that it's so centered around family and the 'hood. It is such a comfy feeling to have this little cul de sac that you get out from but ultimately you return to and defend it. San Andreas is just such a SOULFUL game. Just compare some of San Andreas characters with GTA V's protagonists: it's laughable. FUCK I kinda want to reinstall it now bros.
meaning you have to use Unreal Engine or Unity or something. Not sure how else you can realistically get high-effort looking graphics in an indie game in 2019
DO YOU SHOWER IN DOO DOO?
I am going to use Unreal Engine.
That and now the characters aren't played up to eleven like they were in the 3D era. The games stopped being nearly as enjoyable when the characters became generic and more "real".
WEED GIVES ME KNOWLEDGE
Is there a game with more soul than San Andreas, Yea Forums?
But, have you played Vice City OP?
Someone post some LS 'hood screens. Comfiest shit ever.
There's no way you can think this. Maybe you prefer the story but besides that tell me ONE thing Vice City did better
GTAV scaled down the seirousness of GTAIV a whole lot though, one of the very first things you can do with Michael is meet the NPC that gives him the drug trip with aliens for fuck's sake.
Pure nostalgia on how beautiful Vice City looks with all neons and shit, in terms of characters San Andreas is orders of magnitude above it.
Weirdest thing about SA is that the main characters voice acting was the shittiest in the whole game.
>In jail, being on top ain't gay.
Also the radio in VC is comprised of hits that you should have heard 300 times in real life by the day you’re seven years old.
I still remember shooting a handgun for the first time in this game and wincing at how terrible the gunshot sound effects were. One of my favorite games though
I also do, I much prefer the atmosphere of Vice City with the soundtrack and albeit smaller map the general 70s vibe.
For me it's VC>GTA4>SA>>>>Others
not that user but how so?
Friendly reminder that San Andreas, Vice City and GTA 3 are the peak of the series and it will never be this good again.
I dunno, CJ's voice is pretty tamed compared to other characters but it still is pretty funny (and so much better than the soulless voice acting of IV or V), especially when he screams.
YO MAN, WHERE DA WEED AT?
I can make my own music too, and I know how to use Ableton. I'll use orchestra samples to make a good theme and music. I'm going to fill it with campy borderline humorous moments like RE7 and after weird non-sequiter moments use voiced music as a respite a la RDR2. My nephew (who's only four years younger than me) makes maps in Far Cry 5 so he's going to help with level design. I plan on perfecting this game, no matter how long it takes WITH NO BETA ACCESS. Just letting a few people play test it.
>Vice City and GTA 3 are the peak of the series
Fuck you, both were only revolutionary, the rest was boring
>used to take pictures of dead hookers panties with the camera after I killed them
>my sister plays a few times and finds the pictures
>convinced her it was for a mission
>don't know if she truly believed me or not
theres something inherently soulless about 4 and 5, can't really put my finger on it. maybe the big empty spaces just for the sake of having a big map
nigger
>tfw used buy a fuckton of grenades before going to Emmet's
>then climbing onto the roof and lobbing grenades at every car I see
But 4 was literally the opposite of that
>4 was the opposite of that
The only thing that makes it feel like there's alot of stuff to do is the absurd amount of birds to kill.
It was pretty empty in term of collectables and activities otherwise
>using cheats to get infinite ammo
>get 6*
>try to escape the tanks and armored trucks
those were the days
>tfw searching for bigfoot and mothman as a kid
Let me go back.
was there anything more kino than flying a jetpack towards the ground at an angle so you get the speed boost and running animation while the jetpack is still activated
>vice city
>70s vibe
This is your brain on VC
You clearly have not played it since release
It’s aged worse than gta3
It's not even the maps, which are mostly fine. I think the soullessness comes from the characters. They are just so fucking bland and boring. Take V as an example: the only memorable character is Trevor, and that's only because he's the edgy psychopath. The nigger has to be one of the most insipid protagonists in the history of video-games, and the old mid-life crisis dude is just unbearable and completely unrelatable to most people. Putting smartphones in the games didn't help, either. It just oozes the vapidity and emptiness that we see everyday in social media. They are soulless games because they try (and to some extent, succeed) to imitate in a realistic fashion a soulless world.
I prefer VC to SA, but SA was definetly better
It’s the only way for a gentleman to travel.
Why the fuck would this guy ALWAYS try to steal
my car?
I loved GTAIII and Vice City, never played San Andreas back in the day. I started it a few months ago and it just doesn't have the magic. It's systems are all so clunky and janky, its setting is boring, the characters are all obnoxious niggers and the plot meanders along.
GTAIII and Vice City both have better atmosphere, protagonists, storylines, setting and music.
Yes but I just played Vice City recently. You can't even turn the camera while you are in the car, remember that? The map felt big when I was a kid but nowadays even I think it's too small.
SA improved EVERYTHING.
>Camera feels much smoother to aim with
> more cars
> parachuting
> planes and helicopters, including jets
> can actually right click to aim
> more weapon variety
> Vice city asset missions are actually kind of boring
> fun shit like jetpacks and monster trucks
> can swim, even go underwater
> more variety in terms of environment
I could go on. After playing Vice city recently I can't stop thinking about how much SA truly improved everything
Is los angeles really this crazy?
The gameplay and mechanics were good compared to 3 and Vice. Shame it was about niggers though.
I wish I had played Vice City before San Andreas. It’s just so much better that you can’t go back.
On the PS4 version of San Andreas it takes a screenshot every time you get a trophy (as with all games) but the last trophy I needed to get for the Platinum was to die of drowning so this is what the PS4 took.
I just found it a little funny when I was scrolling through all my screenshots and stumbled across it
I did though. GTA Vice City was my first GTA and I still think SA did a much better job. This time when I replayed I even installed a mod to allow me to mouse control the camera while in a car. Feels so weird without it.
These. Video games shouldn't be aiming for a realistic experience. The early 3D games were and are still charming, otherwise you wouldn't have gaming where it is today.
Yeah he's not really bad so much as he's fairly grounded compared to all of the other ridiculous characters in the game. He still has little hints of personality that shine through though. I've literally never heard him sing in his idle animations until this year when I reinstalled and added the PS2 cut content patch
i think you're right, also i hated being forced to do missions as certain characters up until you reach a specific save state. probably the only actual cool missions were the heists. multiplayer was also only good for like the first few weeks, once people started unlocking pussy explosives aiming went out the window (i played on non-auto aim servers only)
>gameplay that's still decent 15 years later
>lots of good characters with memorable dialogue and god tier VA's like James Woods and Samuel L. Jackson
>was released during the early internet days where games had mysteries and could be discussed on forums instead of just being datamined (wheelchair at the dock, ghost car, and bigfoot for examples)
>huge map that contained 3 different cities
>first GTA game that had swimming, adding more content
>exploring the map could find rare vehicles weapons in areas (it feels like later GTA games don't do this but I could be wrong)
>amazing story, seeing CJ go from gangster to business man
>the green sabre is one of the most kino missions in any game ever
>great soundtrack with music from late 80's to mid 90's
>sex mode that could've been modded in, leading to the biggest vidya controversy in the 2000's
>an RPG stat system that you could customize whenever you wanted, making CJ as fat or as fit as you wanted to
>said stat customization effects gameplay (fat CJ has different voice lines and runs out of stamina more)
>shit loads of character customization with clothes and hair
>fun side missions like Burglar and Beat the Cock
>game is full of atmosphere and settings (Santa Maria Beach for a beach setting, Bone Country for desert, Beacon Hill for forest)
Game art in the 2000s:
>couple of hours of box modeling for your low poly character
>simple skeleton rig, weight painting isn't too bad because low poly
>UV unwrap with some simple cutting and arranging
>hand paint a texture for the guy or photobash some images
>animate him by hand, its okay if it isn't 100% realistic
>Programs required: 3D modeling software and Photoshop.
>Total Time: 12 to 24 hours of work.
Game art today:
>sculpt a highly detailed model in zbrush
>texture with dozens of sophisticated, hand made materials and substances
>retopo the entire model into low poly
>rig with super advanced skeleton and facial structure, add in blend shapes, apply physics objects
>spend days in the studio doing mo-cap for the animations
>Programs required: Zbrush, Maya, Substance Designer, MoCap software, Rigging software.
>Total Time: 100 hours+ of work.
Is the end result really that much more immersive and effective at visually communicating to the player? I find Thief 1 to be just as beautiful as RDR2.
how hard is it to 100% san andreas?
Games were like pulp fiction back then. Designed to entertain the player at the core. Give the people what they want: sex, violence, freedom, and a good laugh.
Now it's all pretentious wannabe art, trying to send their message and be taken seriously.
modern games being soulless is not caused by graphics whoring, it's caused by games being made exclusively as products designed to maximize profits and nothing else. muh graffix is just a symptom, and not even present in all cases.
look at modern nintendo games for example, most look like they could run on a ps2 but that saved effort never goes into the things that matter and the games are still soulless.
Wait WHAT?
lol, when I first played SA when it came out I hated the free camera while driving
>tfw spent 2 years doing roleplay in SAMP
Sometimes I miss it, from being a Blood to a dutch lawyer in LS and a korean cop, so many good memories.
> exploring the map could find rare vehicles weapons in areas (it feels like later GTA games don't do this but I could be wrong)
You can find a rare Sultan RS in GTA4, I know of that one at least. I don't think this is present in GTA5 though, which sucks.
>an RPG stat system that you could customize whenever you wanted, making CJ as fat or as fit as you wanted to
And this was done in 2004, imagine if game devs were as creative and ambitious nowadays
non black peoples first black game
Not at all, just follow a guide, I did it in around 30 hours, not rushing either
>datamined
This is also a big issue with games today, there are no surprises or a sense of mystery on what could come because some shithead wants followers and patreonbux. Remember how far Ocarina of Time's rumors went? As late as 2010, for me anyway I was finding new stuff that I didn't know about, like the Gerudo leader's clothes changing based on Link's tunic.
IS YOU HIGH?!
Not really
Everyone I know even to this day played SA but probably didn’t even hear of the other games you listed
It's because of nigger shit and annoying/boring gameplay. Also graphics that look like ass
V's map is all sorts of wrong. The whole thing is accessible from the start and there is only one major road in the top half. There's just a whole bunch of fucking nothing north of the city. Mt. Chiliad has nothing except bike races, some story missions, and that cultist camp. The army base is wasted potential. Not even a mission where you infiltrate it like you did Area 69 in San Andreas is there a multiplayer DLC that has a heist in this area?. Desert is too small to feel like a real desert.
GTA IV was a good map though. Does a decent job of compressing NYC's neighborhoods.
>Also graphics that look like ass
It's called soul, zoomer.
Easy, Pedestrians have weapons + Pedestrian Riot = hours of laughs.
Anytime I had this game (I've had to buy it multiple times cause my younger relatives couldn't take care of shit) that was probably the only thing I did.
I preffered the radio in Vice City- in fact the whole game was funnier to me at the time. But the game was overall better in San Andreas
I'm going to pick it up and force my zoomer son to play it. He plays 5 and I want to know his opionion of boomer core games
Do the new ones even have cheat codes?
YOUNG HEARTS BE FREE TONIGHT
thats another thing, radio in 4 and 5 sucked donkey balls.
They fell for the muh serious story meme so you don't have fun shit like flamethrowers and stadium events. The story always felt like something in the background that moves the game along while you screw around in free roam, in the HD universe it feels like they really want you to give a fuck about the story so they neutered distractions like vehicle and property missions.
Now cheats are where they really fucked it, even III has better cheats than HD universe. Where's flying cars? Why the hell does invincibility only last 5 minutes? Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
CJ isn’t supposed to be a self insert for the player
It’s why he’s so customisable
>I find Thief 1 to be just as beautiful as RDR2.
"beautiful" is subjective, I realize, but you must know that your thinking that is heavily influenced by nostalgia-factor
He’s a criminal, also he’s not gay.
I think IV did, I'm not sure about V.
4 has a bit of soul imo
Not a lot but some, 5 is just empty
true, i spent dozens of hours just flying cars in SA while listening to the radio
I think you're being disingenuous, but SA's graphics are just shiity. There aren't any textures in the game.
How do I know you're the kind of faggot who prefers the one on the right
Yes iv had simple cheats, v were a fucking joke. The biggest fuck you was invincibility....for 5 MINUTES. No fun allowed (unless you spend hundreds of real world dollars for online then we ,r*, can decide how much fun you can have)
I SMOKE CAUSE IT GIVES ME KNOWLEDGE
Yeah, that looks much better.
GTA San Andreas reminded me how trash the radio stations were on GTA 5. Save for a few songs on Non-Stop Pop like Modjo - Lady.
Which version is that btw? PC?
Not him but i believe right is pc vanilla version right is pc modded to look like ps2/xbox version.
>tfw black
Why the fuck is SA the only truly “black” game?
*left is modded
rockstar is probably the only dev that isn't corny enough to understand how black people interact with one another
No, it's not nostalgia. It's about the setting, the art, the design, the gameplay, the sound design and the music all coming together to create immersion and atmosphere.
RDR2 is beautiful too, but it's fancy graphics and TECHNOLOGY, don't make it any better than Thief at conveying atmosphere and immersion to the player. In fact, the tight focus of Thief makes it's atmosphere stronger, in my opinion.
>tell me ONE thing Vice City did better
VCPR
We need another one because the story around the urban politics of 1992 was insanely memorable
Never played the 3D trilogy, only V. Are they more fun than V or aged badly ?
every line is full of SOUL in this game
Nice opinion you fucking faggot. All me btw.
Not him. I've just played through Vagrant Story for the first time and a game like that is far more beautiful than something like Anthem, at least for me. These super duper graphics mean they have less time to focus on actual gameplay mechanics aswell. Graphics should have stayed at Bioshock 1 levels IMHO.
GTA sa 2 where you play as a rooftop Korean would be amazing
if you're going to ask just don't bother. you just want someone to tell you 'play it' so when you inevitably don't enjoy yourself because it 'aged bad', you can blame someone else for wasting your time instead of bucking up and seeing for yourself
GTA III is the only one I could see you having difficulty connecting with although it is my favorite just because the theme isn't as heavily played out as the other two. GTA SA especially though you would enjoy greatly. I enjoyed all of them more than V.
>more fun than V or aged badly
this is not a sensible binary choice
Is this a screenshot from Cyberpunk 2077?
butthurt.
Zoomer detected. Also, after GTA SA all aged very well and are perfectly playable. Before that you may have some minor inconveniences
It was a good theme. With enough well written satire to entertain
Left would be fine if it didn't have this stupid orange haze.
>Maurice Chavez. Not Chaves, or Chavis. Maurice Chavez.
>pastor Richards, please, put the gun away, dont point it at me!

Thanks user. I know what im listening to tonight.
PS2 version of GTA:SA had soul.
>proceeds to steal your customized car you’ve put considerable effort in making
>San Andreas
>Get on NRG 500 in San Fierro
>Challenge starts
>Drive away
>Time runs out, small "mission failed" text appears at bottom of screen
>Continue driving motorcycle
>GTAV
>Get in Cuban 800 at McKenzie Airfield
>Challenge starts
>Fly away
>Time runs out
>Game comes to a screeching halt, black screen with "Mission failed" appears
>Only options are to restart the mission or quit, which puts you back on foot at the airfield
San Andreas let you do what you wanted. If you failed, you could keep playing. GTAV railroads you, forcing you to do exactly what the developers want you to do and making you restart if you fail.
>Mr Zooo
>But I'm a 30 year old guy...
Hey Yea Forums I'm going to Cluckin' Bell. You want anything?

>After that, I was hooked on Liberty City Survivor! I watch it every day in the hospital!
This high definition mock-up of your first GTA III hideout looks better than literally every area in GTA V.
I'm talking about RDR2 specifically.
> It's about the setting, the art, the design, the gameplay, the sound design and the music all coming together to create immersion and atmosphere.
>RDR2 is beautiful too, but it's fancy graphics and TECHNOLOGY, don't make it any better
I'll tell you a story about how RDR2 is immersive:
I love antagonizing NPCs. I did it to some lady walking down the street in Strawberry and a small crowd appeared around me as I berated her and basically threatened her. She insulted back and finally walked up to Arthur and slapped him. Then as she was turning away in fear from visibly Arthur's angry response (rubbing his sore cheek and stepping forward), some white knight grabbed him from behind and put me in a choke hold, and I got in a whole big fight with him and two other guys over it. They were city-boy pansies though so I whooped all their asses easily, picked up my hat off the dirt went on my way. The Sheriff eyeballed me from his porch but didn't run me out of town since it was self defense, and for the rest of the night, everyone was looking over their shoulders at me and murmuring to eachother about how I was a psychopath.
--
The high quality graphics, animation, sound quality, world design and overall presentation do also help with the immersion, but they do not *provide* it like the actual gameplay does. RDR2 is one of the most immersive games of all time and not for the graphics
>The tennis shoes slung over the power lines
fuckkkkkkk
I played VC and SA after V and loved them, you just gotta remember that they're open world games that are around a decade and a half old. Also play 2 if you haven't, I haven't played any of the LC games but III might be worth checking out if you really want to see the jump to 3D and I've heard some good things about IV but I dunno if I'll play it after V left a bad taste in my mouth.
>What did they make you say
>I LOVE YOUUUUUU!
>You do? I never knew...
>Naw! They made me say 'I love you' to Bobo...
>Who is she?
>He! He! He!
i'll have a number nine....a number nine large....two number sevens........

Isn't that just cj, sweet, rider and smoke's orders all together?
It is, but he eats most of it at the end
Yes, he's the one at the intercom. His order's still big though.
Music is great and definitely much better than SA but everything else is much better in SA.
it's a video game and it's built around being a video game
i know that's an awful explanation, but it just feels nice and cozy to play.
i didn't even play it growing up, first playthrough was last year. i'm 25.
gta v is loading screen simulator and it's hilarious how boring it is compared to literal ps2 games. too much focus on graphics and """technology"""
Smoke himself got a number 9 large, a number 7, two number 45's, one with cheese, and a large soda. The rest was CJ, Sweet, and Ryder's orders.
>movie pretending to be a video game
>scripted scenes pretending to be open world
you must ride that bike goy, try again
I agree that RDR2 is immersive. What you are describing is emergent gameplay and is the core of what makes Thief so engaging as well. The game's systems coming together to create unique and unscripted events is the whole beauty behind these simulations we enjoy.
My point is that it isn't the graphics or animations that make both of these games immersive, it's the AI, unscripted events, and gameplay elements that do so.
I would even argue that the animation system in RDR2 makes the game less immersive for the sake of realism. It pulls me out of the game to constantly lose control for slow, realistic animations--to have my character always chugging and slowly catching up to my intended movements. The game sacrifices immersion for the sake of realism.
The only gameplay thing that I think VC did better was that your previous vehicle wouldn't despawn if you drove really far away from it.
III had pretty good cheatcodes, exept for car spawning

You can just say you dont like black people instead of pretending those terrible games do anything better than San Andreas.
THAT GIRL IS POISOOOOOON
I have never played a game where flying a plane is as fun as in San Andreas. I don't know what makes it so great, but I love it.
I don't get it.
Nah nah, BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG
>entirety of Liberty City blows up
>that one time I was flying a plane high up in SA and all of a fucking sudden "Crashed" into something and blew up

Fuck you I know there's hidden UFOs dammit it happened to me
Saints Row 1's pretty black, can't say the same for 2 onwards
What do you mean by datamining?
SA was when rockstar still used the word fun
People just dig through the actual files of the game and manipulate and test things to see what assets are inside to verify what is there and what isn't. As opposed to just playing the game and going on hearsay/videos to point out interesting things.
A recent example of both pre and post-datamining periods were in Bloodborne where dataminers didn't quite unearth certain ridiculously well-hidden secrets, like a mole or a roaming boss and bizarre otherwise unseen hidden areas within Chalice Dungeons that could be accessed by regular players. After dataminers actually pulled the game open, they could confirm all of that as well as other unused assets and precisely where to find anything and everything and verify it all. It's like being told a magic trick and learning how to do it yourself, and then some fag explains the chemical makeup of every part of it and who came up with the trick first and puts it on the internet so that everybody else can make their own analysis of it.

Most kino song in San Andreas. Prove me wrong.
This, even rdr2's cheats are so fucking lame. No cool shit anymore because they're going hard on the serious realistic vibe.
I replayed it literally this year and it's by far the best GTA.

it's like they're optional
also I don't know what version you're playing but they made them easier in the recent ports, if I beat them when I was 11 yrs old on ps2 then it's not impossible
fucking horrible just as most of the graphics enhancement mods, they completely disregard art direction which is what actually makes a game look good
the short draw distance is there also to make the world feel bigger

Thanks for the tunes boys these are bangers
>R* stops you from designing your own experience now. That’s what made these games fun in the first place.
So true. Red Dead 2 was fucking garbage in this respect.
RDR2 has the most complex simulation of social interactions ever seen
i.4cdn.org
every person has their own reactions to whats going on, their own bravery level, alliances with other NPCs, and positive / negative feeling towards the player and his actions
The game plays with you, it's not just instances waiting to be activated. Things are going on while you play.
Watching this makes me feel like I visit some place from many years ago. Everything looks so small now but when I was a teenager it seemed so big. On every corner I remember back stories or encounters I had there.
I hope you aren't implying the missions had any more freedom than modern rockstar missions, but they didn't.
>I don't think this is present in GTA5 though, which sucks.
It is, it's just easier to grab because you just easily look in common spawn locations.
God how the fuck do I get this to run? I installed a million fixes to make it run halfway normal on semi modern computers but if it even starts up at all it just crashes
ROCKSTAR HIRE THIS MAN WTF ARE YOU DOING?

Would be amazing if Rockstar did HD remasters of 3, VC, and SA with this style, but kept everything else aside from graphics the same.
V had cheat codes
rdr2 took 8 fucking years to make. in less than that amount of time we had all these in the 2000s:
gta iii - 2001
vice city - 2002
midnight club, manhunt - 2003
san andreas, red dead revolver - 2004
the warriors - 2005
bully - 2006
manhunt 2 - 2007
gta iv - 2008
was it worth all that time? it's a great game, i love arthur morgan, but shit i'd trade it just for any of the gtas and bully
I think Vice City Stories is the criminally underrated title of the series
(that's not even mentioning midnight club sequels and lc/vc stories, and rdr 1 if i stretch it to 8 and a half years)
this thread makes me happy
I really really hate how they did the cheat codes in V. I don't understand why they have a time limit on some of them and why I have to re-enter the code I want into the phone every time instead of the game saving it like in IV.
late to the thread, but i didn't really see anyone point out, that its the world design. it manages to capture the feel of driving long distances across the country even if the map is insanely small. its just shaped really well and the roads are very clever in how they are laid out to give the illusion of wide space and long distance. plus tons of tiny little towns and gas stations
iirc they upped the spawn rate of Sultans in V at least, in Online when they made it available for purchase from Benny's
bump, this is a good thread
