Ohya's the only confidant that is pretty much completely useless skill-wise, and that's part of a larger problem with how palaces are designed. Between the auto-advance confidants, party member confidants that are always useful to do, Chihaya who you neglected to mention as one of the most useful in the game, and justine and caroline who don't actually take any time, most of them are useful.

I would’ve railed the slutty bimbo teacher from 4 that all the students were scared of for some fucking reason.

nigger you get so many free SP consumables if you max out Kawakami, plus she lets you get free stat upgrades in class, lets you do stuff at night after a palace/mementos, washes your clothes, makes thief tools for you. She's obscenely useful. Hifumi on the other hand outside from some neat bonuses like the gold boost, I never switched characters mid combat because there's almost no reason to ever do so and it wastes a turn.
