Square Enix is dying

Project Prelude Rune was a high budget, Unreal Engine 4 game with Dragon Quest/Tales Of vibes but SE decided to kill the game and studio behind it

What is wrong with Square Enix?

Maybe the game was shaping up to be garbage?
SE is doing fine
DQ will bail them out of anything

>Maybe the game was shaping up to be garbage?

We don't know but SE rarely cancels stuff, they did the same with Tabata

>SE is doing fine

Only because FFXIV and DQ, they haven't made profit since the launch of KH3

>DQ will bail them out of anything
True

Could be a lot of things, unreal engine is a deal with Epic games so that alone makes it shit.

I didnt even know this game existed until they cancelled it.

baba is a joke and he left

>Hideo Baba gets put in charge of something before up and running away
>his project and studio go away

nothing surprising but sure lets push the 'square enix is shit' narrative

...

>What is wrong with Square Enix?
Mismanagement of staff and resources.
/thread

It's probably made for Nintendo Switch so they killed it

CyGames is going to be the new Square Enix

>Square Enix is dying
You can say that after when FF7Re is flop which is not going to happen

Stop reposting the same "Square is dying" narrative thread all day every day.

romasaga 3 hd will save them

Doubt it.
But Re:UniverSe alone has far outperformed any and all of their mobage anyway, so it's not like they need saving either way if a SaGa game in 2019 is making them swim in dosh.

Good. Nintendo will be crippled once they are gone.

hasn't square enix' entire history been being on the verge of death?

gacha shit will be the end of us all

As long as it funds console games I'm fine with it.
At least now the execs will stop pretending SaGa games aren't lucrative enough after all the good streaks they had since the RS2 remaster, Re:Universe pumping such absurd amounts of money into the company can only mean the series will go back to their original budget size after so long instead of having a peanut and half a beer can of funds for the main games.

Where do you read about what gachashit was a success and which one wasnt?

Baba left, it was his pet project

The internet, duh.

About time, they've been putting out nothing but total shit.

Enix should have never bailed Square from bankruptcy. Or at least fire most of its higher-ups after they absorbed them.

Gachashit has saved dying companies.
SNK wouldn't be around at all if they didn't make bank on their gacha games.

Werent they bought by chinks

Square Enix is shit now, is hard not to realize, so rather than asking what's wrong, you should ask what is good within this tremendous amount of shit that the company produces and laughs at their public

They canceled Fortress
Fuck SE

>Were losing money!
>Quick stop doing the only thing that makes us money!

/me * *

>FGO

Fucking how? That game was so fucking stingy and grindy that it was almost unplayable.

That looked tremendously generic. The trailer was also utter shit. Can't say I miss it.

>Hideo Baba
Fucking kek, what was Square thinking? The Tales Of team literally had to break out their emergency secret weapon to undo the PR damage Baba caused them. They can't remake Vesperia again now, they used their secret weapon already on account of Baba.

Yes, but they still didn't make much of a profit until gacha brought them out of the red

>Fucking how?
waifus

What does this say about the literal dozens of games that Microsoft canceled that were high profile and already being advertised?

And plot, tons and tons of dumb plot

Baba is gone

>they haven't made profit since the launch of KH3
KH3 was noted for doing very well

It's the other games like left alive, quiet man, and others that didn't do well

Why would they even bother hiring baba to begin with? he is a known failure.

U wot m8
When was the last time one of their bajillion dollar projects was on a Nintendo console? Anyway it's a good thing too. Let the Snoystation have Cinematic Cutscene Simulator XIII and Open World Half Finished Game XV, I'd rather play their lower budget games like The World Ends With You and Bravely Default.

he's known
it's better to be a known failure than to be unknown

>tfw I enjoyed TWEWY way more than XV
It’s funny how a DS game kicks the shit out of a full budget AAA title. Better gameplay, too.

lol the quiet man came out but this got canceled

can you imagine how bad it is?

What did he do before?

How many times have remade this exact thread? And why?

Yea Forums is eternally butthurt with whatever SE does

SE isn't dying, but I do think SE fatigue is starting to set in.

I wonder if Baba will try to get his job back at Bamco. pls don't

At least after this he won't plague the game industry any longer, seems like he's retired with the statement he made.

Vesperia PS3, The entirety of Xillia and Zestiria being way waaay underdone as games. And BErseria the one fucking game he WASN'T involved with feeling like an actual tales game finally.

Leave the future to me.

>Implying Nintendo would let them go under
At worse it’ll be another platinum games situation
Nintendo won’t buy them but offer them a fat bailout for exclusivity

There's no way they would let him back in, he did too much damage.

Seems to me it's more of a case of the board of executives scrambling to reassess their plans and resources.
Left Alive and Quiet Man bombed hard while NieR kept silently selling all the way to 2019, Dragon Quest XI and Octopath made bank and now the SaGa series made its return on japanese land.
Baba was probably not even close to deliver and was also probably fucking around behind the scenes like he always does, so either he bowed out himself like they're saying or they decided to not try out their luck like they did with Left Alive or the other trash and redirect all the resources to their more successful projects now, especially given how they downright shut down the entire studio, which is a good decision.
Were it 2016 Squenix they'd persevere and release some garbage piece of shit like Lost Sphear while wondering what went wrong, at least they're learning this time around.
