Red dead Redemption 2 was good to me, Arthur Morgan was perfect for playing dress up, exploring the world was satisfying and rewarding, and the story (if you weren't spoiled) worked.
Is AAA only reserved for games made by Ubisoft, EA, Activision and shit? Because I would argue From soft have moved up to AA, and they released an amazing game.
Square Enix is arguably AAA so I would say FFXIV is a great game and has really revived the MMO genre. You don't need some autistic challenge like scarab Lord from wow to be a good MMO, you only need something to draw you in, and having great crafting, great gameplay, great music, good graphics, good story and great class uniqueness makes FFXIV a great AAA game.
Also Skyrim was released in 2011. There isn't a game that does what Skyrim does, and Skyrim did it great. Some flaws doesn't change what it brings.
I'll even argue fortnite is a good game, I've been playing it a lot over the weekend and it's grown on me.
There's more but you get the point. There's flaws, but some glitches and your personal preference for stories, artstyle and music is subjective, please don't act like saying "the story is shit and I hate the artstyle" means they are bad games.
