This, I'm slightly annoyed by it

Asher Sullivan
A few of these games are better than anything that's released new so far in 2019.
Mason Watson
I'm just excited Konami is doing something with the IP again, and we're getting Bloodstained next month too. It's a good time to be a Castlevania fan in general.
Chase Campbell
>classicvania yucky. give me metroidvania or don't bother.
Juan Martin
I bet your ass most people (read non autistic) won't touch those shit ass games for more than 5 minutes before being bored and moving on to something else. Project nimbus is releasing today and despite being borderline shovelware, it's already a better deal than this collection, that is if you love gundam and cool ass robots.
Isaac Cox
>Giving Konami more money to make pachinko machines
Nathan Harris
Why does everyone act like Metroidvania is the only thing that matters about Castlevania
I'm so fucking sick of that format it's been done to death and only 2-3 out of 7-8 we got of them were good
Cotm also has a shit drop system and level design consisting of nothing but zigzag staircases.
Gabriel Butler
Classicvania games are the best in the series and IGA trash plays like bargain bin Metroid.
Camden Campbell
>needing cards at all git gud
> level design consisting of nothing but zigzag staircases. so classicvania?
Nathan Ramirez
>cotm >hard It was the first Castlevania I ever beat and I haven't managed to beat any of the Classicvanias yet.
Jack Phillips
I didn't need them just saying the system was shit. Also if they're so similar then you should like classic.
Isaiah Lee

Tyler Brooks
I just hope they look and run OK. I'm expecting a Mega Man Legacy situation though. I wish Dracula X was in it, fuck everybody I love that game.
Julian Kelly
I'm not mad at no Plat, but it's shit that there's no variety. If I wanted to beat CV3 with little or no reward I'd just emulate it then have a beer. Fuck.
They fixed MM tho, the first collection is better than the other 3 now, save anywhere you want, no lag and rewind option
Kevin Harris
Anyone knows if you can select the games region like in other M2 developed releases? Would be great for Castlevania III for example.
Colton Cook
After playing Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, I can't say I give too much a shit about non metroidvania Castlevania games. That game is quite literally the perfect difficulty, fun as hell, and not as frustrating as the things in this collection. As much as I loved Bloodlines, that was Sega bias. Konami had Rocket Knight over Castlevania on that system.
Angel Rogers
Can't you fucking read the OP?
Cooper Wood
Konami just downloaded an opensource emulator and put some roms on it that they also downloaded from "pirates".
They spent less than 5 minutes on throwing this together, then charging you $20 for it.
Also LMAO at calling downloading 30-year old roms "piracy". These fucking games should be in the fucking public domain already.
Know what they did to Castlevania's original programmers BTW?
"-Because his games never sold that well and Konami was always a profit-minded company, he was demoted to work in a game center, and left very soon after. Apparently this happened to a lot of Konami staff even back then, and many of them went to Square."
That's how much Konami gave a shit about Castlevania even back in the '90s or the 'talent' behind it. I can almost guarantee you that Akamatsu won't be seeing a single cent from this collection's sales, that will all go to some pachinko sales manager over at Konami.
Keep sucking that corporate dick son. Emulating this shit and downloading it is the more ethical option vs. rewarding Konami that did nothing but piss the talent away and reduce them to gym janitors because they didn't appreciate the games or the talent behind it, but they still want to cashgrab off a bunch of nostalgia from a bunch of 30 year old games.
Know why they do these collections every 5 or so odd years or so no matter how dead the franchise is? If you don't use your trademark in about 5 years, you run the real risk of it becoming an invalid trademark. You can't just have a bunch of trademarks around that you never use, that is against trademark laws. So these scummy companies still push out these old cashgrab 'remasters' and 'collections', tell the fans "buy loads and we might give you a new $0 budget sequel". In reality, they don't expect to turn a profit, it's to keep the trademark.
Gabriel Gonzalez
>Konami just downloaded an opensource emulator and put some roms on it that they also downloaded from "pirates". Konami didn't do shit and that's not M2 modus operandi, do you have any proof of that claim? Also >linking to resetgender Go back and stay.
Easton Stewart
M2 just rips off the very same opensource emulators and pretends they wrote it all from scratch.
They pretended they 'invented' how to do NAOMI emulation on the Switch at the very same time that a Reicast build with Naomi support was being released for free on jailbroken Switch with Lakka. They don't do anything that opensource emulators haven't already done decades before them.
Digital Eclipse too are a bunch of freeloading parasites that call their MAME fork "proprietary technology".
Isaac Barnes
You fuck off you stupid faggot go kys
Eli Howard
what's the point of buying these on PC over emulation?
Bet your ass they sell each DS game and Requiem (RoB+SOTN) as standalone $20 titles. CV Collection 2 will be X8600, Chronicles, Dracula X, Adventure Rebirth and the GBA games. It seems like the most predictable Konami move.
Chase Cook
Why is 1GB in size? The games are only a few kb each?
Matthew Walker
>All these mental gymnastic and "opinions" based on false information just to justify piracy
Just say you're too cheap or poor to pay for it. Piratefags need to stop coming up with convoluted reasoning for not paying for things
Oliver Anderson
Are these actually good? I’ve never played a classicvania besides Rondo, which I really enjoyed I’ve heard some of the earlier titles are just BS hard
Thomas Davis
1 is the perfect difficulty, you just gotta get used to how the knockback works and plan your jumps/positioning accordingly. CV3 is great too but the "BS hard" comes from the janky US version that upped the difficulty with weird changes, play the JP one which will be patched into the Collection relatively soon. CV4 is piss easy.
John Davis
And Bloodlines is the hardest because no infinite continues.
Jaxon Stewart
does that include the cellphone versions of CV1 all 3 of them oh and the cellphone versions of Aria and Dawn too
Ayden Ortiz
I’m guessing whatever save feature this collection has will alleviate that to an extent?
Ayden Lopez
Honestly giving it some thought, I'm glad they did the first collection of just classicvania. While I adore metroidvanias I also love the classics, having these on my switch is gonna be nice to relax with.
There's some incredibly hard difficulty spikes in some of them (the second to last level of 1 for example) and adventure and NES 2 are actually terrible games. But for the most part I feel like it's challenging without getting TOO BS, just spend enough time with it and learn the controls and you're be golden
John Johnson
They're gonna sell them in pairs. Aria+Dawn is obvious then I guess Circle+Harmony/Portrait+Order
Luis Hernandez
achievement fags are cancer.
Lincoln Flores
How do you guys stomach big collections like this? I recently marathoned every classic Megaman game and MMX game and now I'm just completely sick of Megaman.
the way to stomach it would have been to include only the good games and not dogshit like adventure and simon's unfinished game
apropos Megaman, did you know Kid Dracula is a MM clone? and they included it in this collection because fuck having a good game like Rondo or Chronicles, KD is weird and I found it on wikipedia, I must be a truefan if I namedrop it!
(I would have even taken the Snes version of Rondo due to Requiem being a thing, atleast it's interesting)
Angel Martinez
By not marathoning them??? Jesus Christ user you're not supposed to marathon 18 games in a row. The collections are for booting up when you just feel like playing a specific game.
Asher Hill
marathonin isn't even the issue, the fact that the quality curve is so uneven, you peak early then through then peak again after you trudged your way through the dulldrums of the series
Kevin Ward
and I should get this instead of emulating why?
Nathaniel Butler
to play it on the go on your Switch or on a big screen TV.
Jacob Morgan
Portability is a meme and you can play it on a big screen tv already.
Thomas Morgan
there will be no collection with the DS games, you think that new konami will adapt the 2 screens + stylus games? nah,, at best we will get the gba games but theres no way in hell they will include the ds games in any collection
Brayden Phillips
i wouldn't be giving others shit you sure do come across as someone on the spectrum if you think people give a shit about whatever it is you're talking about
Jonathan King
there's a trick in it to get essentially infinite continues
Carson Davis
guy they made a PSP romhack for Requiem, they'll hack together some shit for the DS games too, hell they cut the stylus shit from Dawn, they make it an objectively better game other than that, what did the second screen do? house some menus and the map? easy peasy
Julian Brooks
I just said each one will be a Standalone title priced at $20, which they will justify by implementing either a picture-in-picture mode, or by forcing the game to pause when you swap from playing to viewing the map/status screen.
Landon Russell
How's the input lag? The Mega Man and X collections were practically unplayable on switch for me
Elijah Ross
Castlevania III is the best Castlevania game ever made and if you think otherwise then I'm not sure you should be allowed to have opinions. It does almost everything right

Get over yourself. These games have been released like fifty times (okay not Kid Dracula but the rest) already, not to mention being playable in Windows for like a few decades. It doesn't hurt to want a little variety or something extra.
Jose Peterson
bloodlines is also great, but rondo is a great gamer. sorry you're such a hipster you can't appreciate it.
Landon Barnes
nobody said it innovated it, just that it has stuff like that, alongside great encounters and set pieces, disproving the whole bland stage design complaint

What the fuck kind of logic is that? The company still holds rights to the IP and any products made with it and rightfully so. Public Domain doesn't apply for like 70 years after the creation of a work. At 30 years, you'd lose rights to things you created within your lifetime. That's retarded.
The company deserves money for the IP created by its employees under the terms of their employment and, moreover, showing interest in a series like this which seems on the brink of revival seems like it could have a real chance of showing them investing more money in the property is a worthwhile venture.
Never go into business you shortsighted fuck.

>Public Domain doesn't apply for like 70 years after the creation of a work. At 30 years, you'd lose rights to things you created within your lifetime.
That's only because Disney fucked up the copyright laws after leeching off public domain to make their fortunes. A Jew profited off public domain, then made sure his own bootleg fanfiction from European tales could not be public domained.
If anybody is retarded, its' your sperg corporate dicksucking ass.
Now go and pay your nippon pachinko overlord $20 for the glorious honor of running an opensource emu with a rom bootlegged from the Internet. I'm sure he will consider making you a great new Castlevania game, lulz. Pathetic sucker.

Lulz, he actually believes this.
Nigga, this is a cashgrab made on a shoestring budget of $2.

> Never get into business
Said by a weeb sperg, who thinks Konami is making good business moves. If they did, they would have a franchise that isn't dead and actually has people emotionally invested into it.
Bloodborne is the only 3D Castlevania game that isn't halfway dogshit, and it isn't even a Castlevania game or made by Konami. That's how utterly shit Castlevania as a franchise is. It has been dogshit now for over 20+ years. Let it go. Call it a day, get the latest From Soft game and forget about Castlevania ever becoming 'good' again. Those days are long gone, and anybody of any talent has long since left the pachinko building.
Samuel Hernandez
PS4 and Xbone versions have super loud beeps and audio crackling, Switch version so far seems fine.
Noah Anderson

They're never going to invest in a series again that hasn't made them any real money ever since the NES days.

Konami doesn't give a shit about Castlevania. This is old dogshit ancient IP worth to be milked again for a few autists that are willing to buy it, desperately hoping for some new dogshit to be farmed out by MercurySteam.

Too bad they never released it on the Switch despite Richter being in fucking Smash Bros. I already have it but still. Still doesn't really excuse them for separating these out arbitrarily. Requiem didn't even have Dracula X Chronicles. Despite it being the better version of RoB in my opinion
The collection has save and reload functions which should help with some of the difficulty. Also, the JP versions they're adding later have lower difficulty than their US counterparts.
You may wanna try Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. It's a pretty well balanced CVIII style game with a very reasonable difficulty overall.
You get one save state slot, which is utterly pathetic compared to any open source emulator.
Can pretty much guarantee you latency will be dogshit as usual with these "collections".

They should be in the public domain. It's ancient dogshit now.
At least with emulation you can just download this shit. If a company isn't going to play properly by the books, people will take it in their own hands. Fuck Pachinko salarymen.
No they are fucking not, at least not the switch, i'm currently playing the switch collection and the sound in 1 and 3 is full of crackles in the tunes. Bloodlines sounds ok so far. Also it already received an update almost as big as the collection itself, no jpn games yet.
>get to Dracula >can’t land an axe because he keeps flying into me Fuck this pachinko trash

The metroidvania style games are fun but I vastly prefer classicvania. I wish the two styles could coexist or alternate. Pumped for this collection. I wish it would show up on switch already. I'd like to have it portable. I might give up and get it on ps4 soon.

You sound like one of those tittybabies who want easy modes and homogeneous controls in everything. Taking on and clearing a game on its own terms can be very satisfying.

Camden Hill
It's out on switch. Doesn't show up under new releases for me but if you search for it it's there.
M2 is indeed overrated. Yeah, they ported Gauntlet to the Genesis once and it was a good, but it's pretty obvious they rely on freeware emulators and ROMs too.
What gave this away for me was in the Konami's Arcade Hits compilation on the Nintendo DS. The MAME emulation of the arcade Contra is missing a ROM which results in the enemy patterns during the 3D stages to behave inaccurate. The Nintendo DS port also has this flaw, but the PS4 Arcade Archives port does not.
Kayden Adams
b.u..u.u...why not on the Switchy Witchy.... it's the porty worty manchiny
The collection is great even retains the originals slowdown. Everything tuns smooth and the colors pop.
The Ebook is really good too, loads of production art I've never seen like maps and stage design layouts.
Vol 2 should be the GBA and DS games with SOTN and Rondo
Vol 3 should be the N64 and PS2 games with PS1 CV chronicles
Henry Edwards
There won't be a Vol.2 nor Vol. 3. That was just a mistranslation.
Asher Smith
You're really underselling what's typical of them and their work wuth sega. Inb4 the autist post the fucked up VR colors. Wow one mistake out of multiple good ports truly a shit company.
Carson Kelly
Unless this sells. Like, really REALLY well.
Jace Gonzalez
>The collection is great even retains the originals slowdown.
Why would you want that? That's a defect if anything.
I only really see enough material for a Vol. 2 though. They already re-released Rondo and Symphony on PS4, so that leaves us with the SNES version of Dracula X, the MSX2 and X68000 versions of Dracula 1, Legends, the three GBA games and maybe ReBirth.
The 3D and DS games would probably require a bit more effort to port and I doubt there's enough demand for stand-alone remasters of Castlevania 64 or Lament of Innocence.
Jaxson Lewis
Curse of Darkness/Lament of Innocence seems like a PS4 only release since all Konami has to do is ask Sony to run their isos through their PS2 emulator and and boom it's done.
Julian Sanchez
I heard that only of one those contain the actual games, the other one is just a gif of igarashi laughing
Jackson Lewis
gotta say I love the UI for this stuff, really damn stylish
Nathan Fisher
What about the PS2 games? And they could definitely do SotN and Rondo again. Say its to make up for Requiem being Sony exclusive last time.
Christian Taylor
Yeah, I always forget Sony has re-released some of their PS2 games on PS4. But more importantly, do people even like the PS2 Castlevanias? It seems they just kinda came and went. Nobody talks about them the same way people talk about MGS1-3 or Silent Hill 1-4.
Leo Stewart
The PS2 games are counted among the 3D games. :p
Noah Reed
Someone upload the ebook, please.

these games take literally less than an hour to beat you retards
They are still full of bs, like trying to beat Bloodlines on Expert or some of the later stages in 3. There is literal no fucking excuse why every other rom or classic console can have multiple save slots and not this other than being either a fucking retard or lazy.
Alexander Lopez
In castlevania 1 you could get stuck for hours if Death fucks you up the right way and you have to start without having the right weapon and hearts.
Daniel Cox
u can emulate these games on 2012 phones...?
Jack Myers
If you get Holy Water at the beginning and keep it the whole level you can easily brute force the hallway section and instantly kill Death himself, though a first time player obviously won't know that.
20 dollars? I'll give them 4 and some change for it maybe later
Hudson Gonzalez
Why'd you put Chronicles so high?
Jacob Jackson
Nah, Rondo and Bloodlines are the actual best ones from the classic style.
Landon Flores
I assume you mean the X68K game, because Chronicles is a shitty port of it.
Colton Roberts
>Bloodlines was supposed to have two extra characters, one a shurkin throwing ninja yoko blenades another basic a huge axe armor no wonder the game was so short.
Jayden Wilson
there's at least 15 devices in my house at this point that can emulate these games, I don't see why I'd want to pay for just straight roms of them without extra features.
Oliver Sanchez
Rondo was localized over 10 years ago, we can stop pretending it's the best now.
Jacob Sanchez
Oh wow, that's extremely lazy
Carson Phillips
yeah, the game crashed for me as i landed the final hit on dracula
hey, guess I'll stick with emulation. I like having multiple saves for Castlevania 3 for the different choice points and the new game plus with each character setup
Connor Long
just means that its the early version that has crash bugs and they will probably change it for prg1
Ethan Jenkins
IMAGINE paying KONAMI 20 BUCKS for a bunch of roms do console gamers actually do this?
Jason Morris
So for the longest time I thought that theme of simon from Castlevania 4 was vampire killer or Bloody Tears
>Adventure at least plays like a normal game. And? That's not a merit by itself, especially when the normal game has shitty level design and manages to be sluggish even by Classicvania standards. > And has a great OSt. That's true, but so does II.
Landon Morgan
It does not play like a normal game. No subweapons, and actually LOSING whip power-up when damaged go against the series standards.
Kevin King
At least play the damn game before saying shit like this.
Oliver Barnes
>what is dance of the holy man That's like the only song in the game that isn't a remix and isn't an atmoshperic background piece.
Carson Reyes
They literally doubled down on this being "the first" collection via a tweet from today.
Lucas Gray
I did. It's one of my favorites.
Jacob Howard
Thought I was the only one. That whole atmosphere just doesn't get done nowadays.
Cooper Ward
The first game pretty much was a Universal film, complete with those parody credits at the end.
Dominic Moore
because it's great, in a race between 4, it and Bloodlines for 2nd best, it wins of course, always referring to it as X68000 makes me feel like a ponce so I just go with Chronicles do me like me the Kojima art from the PS1 port, not gonna lie, Drac looks fucking cool as fuck nah, thankfully we have gotten past the whole "nippon only best game" turboautist phase and it's still top pick, and the benefit of that is that there was never any nostalgiafaggotry trying to prop it up, unlike IV, which is good, but goddamn do Snes kiddos big it up like nobodies business
Eh, I'd prefer a compilation that has games that haven't been released for the fifth time. At least the Gameboy versions are something new. Now get back to us when the GBA, DS, N64, and PS2 games have a compilation.
Carter Sullivan
>Castlevania fan >Have job >Willing to part with $20 to buy a collection from a series I enjoy Must suck being poor
Isaiah Martin
it does :(
Carson Kelly
How many other times have you already spent $20+ for the same games? Wii, 3DS, Wii U, and PSN or XBOX?
Sebastian Flores
>n64&ps2 >Legacy of Darkness >Lament of Innocence >Curse of Darkness dear god no I'd rather the arcade light gun game
Hudson Jenkins
the release seems to have broken audio still want to payup KONAMI for a bunch of roms?
Andrew Jenkins
People who actually have money, that they actually make in some sort of position that they earned themselves, tend to understand that just because you can afford something doesn't mean that it's a good idea to buy it
Kevin Wilson
just got done playing through kid dracula gonna start bloodlines in a few i enjoy the collection
Dylan Johnson
Liar, no1 on Yea Forums plays games.
Christian White
enjoy user, try 4 after wards, those two and rondo are the pinnacle of the series in their own way.
I'm holding off until they fix the emulation problems. I'd be happy to show Konami I'm interested in Castlevania stuff that isn't pachinko machines, but I waited on the Mega Man Legacy Collections and I'll wait on this too.
Charles Parker
This is true. Look at peoples total playtimes on switch or trophies on ps4 and they rarely touch old games when they buy them. It makes no sense.
Hunter Powell
i've already played every castlevania game apart from kid dracula and bloodlines that's why i skipped all of the other ones
Luis Hall
oh okay, how was chronicles anyway user? still need to do that one, revenge and 2 when it comes to classicvanias.
Bentley Moore
This would have been great if it had a plat for all games. Oh well, ill still buy it and the other collection that they haven't announced yet
Juan Turner
>4 FUCK YOU
Caleb Hughes
chronicles is fun but if you've already played haunted castle i wouldn't recommend spending that much on it
Robert Gutierrez
Yeah, which is why I have enough money to buy the things I want, Castlevania Collection included
take a look at this faggot not knowing dracula-kun is canon to what happens to alucard in the far future
Blake Reyes
what a coinky dink, I also bought the collection just there because I haven't played kid dracula and bloodlines, figured I might as well force myself to play it by dumping money on it well that and I've been mooching off castlevania roms for years and thought I'd throw them a bone
James Jenkins
? Chronicles and Haunted Castle have literally nothing to do with eachother, outside of being a riff on CV1 (much like 4) also Haunted Castle is giant shitheap, ugly too
Joshua Parker
Pleb
Cameron Howard
wait does alucard de-age?
Benjamin Bell
Retard. CV2GB is the best game in the series.
Chase Smith
If I get this and symphony of the night on the PS4, do I basically have the majority of the series then?
Sebastian Miller
>muh canun CV >chibi comedy Megaman clone tangentially related spinoff
unironically this. Never played most of these and playing on a portable like the switch is a nice bonus.Hope this is successful enough for Konami to revisit the franchise(if they ever stop being shit) or at the very least give us more collections for Castlevania
Levi Moore
majority of the classics pretty sure they made 6 games for metroidvania 2 3d ones on ps2 chronicles and rebirth of course so more like about half of it.
Nathaniel Myers
>stanning for CV Shitocolypse yowie wowie
Leo Martinez
The villain from Kid Dracula, Galamoth, pops up in SotN to fight Alucard as a bonus boss.
Lucas Cruz
Fair enough. I missed out on these games, so there's no harm in getting them. Probably a dumb question, but they run at 60 fps right?
Lucas Ward
you'll have pretty much all the good classicvanias if you want more metroidvania-style ones following SotN you should look at the GBA/NDS games
Isaiah Gray
see
Julian Gutierrez
And then again in Jugdment he is the one who sends the Timereaper.
Justin Jenkins
now that's just disingenuous even if you like Adv2: Belmont's Mistranstalted Son's Name
Liam Evans
Yeah, but he never appears in that game.
Nathan Parker
64 translated the NES games perfectly to 3D and was step in right direction. It wasn't anime style shit like the direction they went with starting with Symphony
>unironiclly using the phrase "stan" go back to twitter
Nathaniel Campbell
Nope, they are part of Konami GB Collection (Vol 1 & 2).
Parker Sanchez
there were versions of Adventure 1&2 in a GBC collection rerelease of GB games that added basic color pretty sure that was only released in EU, maybe Japan
Adrian Reyes
And also fixed Christopher's name ti its proper spelling: Soleli (not Soleyu).
Leo Sanchez
Christopher's son, I mean.
Henry Butler
At least they finally rereleased Bloodlines What was the point of holding that hostage on the Genesis for that long?
Adam Gomez
stanning was a term since Dido got put in the trunk zoomer
Nathaniel Fisher
but you can play those games for free on an emulator with more options available >Konami is doing something with the IP again game companies parade around the corpses of dead IPs for a quick profit all the time, konami's not going to bother making a new entry in the series and if they somehow do, it's going to be shit
Brandon Gutierrez
Bomberman R was a good game
Nathan Carter
didn't they rerelease it on the Wii eshop?
Jackson Hernandez
>pay $20 for shit ports of games I already played or >pay $20 for a nice steak that I'll get more enjoyment out of
Oliver Sullivan
No.
Benjamin Howard
to be fair it's hard to fuck up bomberman, even act zero has its fans the wii genesis virtual console collection just was a let down in general
Adrian Bell
shit you're right, Rondo of Blood was the one that got on the Wii eshop weird
Colton Reyes
Does the collection contain any cool bonus stuff? If it's just rom dumps with a menu I'll skip it, but the Mega Man legacy collections had some great extras and challenges.
Andrew Cook
it has a cool ebook with some cool info (apparently castlevania 1 had a gun subwepon in its planning stages, bloodlines had 4 playable characters excetra) no challenges tho so maybe wait for a sale or skip it if the bonus material does not interest you
Ayden Fisher
cool, thanks.
Joseph Phillips
shame they don't really go into what the fuck happened with CV2, which is clearly an unfinished game dumped out on shelves they don't even bring up Vampire Killer on MSX, despite that being the direct gameplay prequel to CV2
David Brown
CV2 probably got budget dumped.
Brayden Baker
true, I wish they handled it how they did the section on belmont's revenge, that was really informative shame that they cut yoko for bloodlines, her gameplay style looked really cool in addition to john and eric also the interview with the netflix guy was good, seemed like he got the series, which makes me more baffled how season 2 was as shit as it was.
Kayden Diaz
Do you think we'll ever see a 3D castlevania collection? IMO the PS2 games were actually pretty good, and the first N64 game had solid atmosphere even if it was clunky. It might be too hard for them to get the rights to them all since they span Nintendo/Sony consoles.
Blake Howard
I fucking wish. I don't care about the haters, I really liked Castlevania 64.
Liam Mitchell
yeah and he looks nothing like he did in KD, it's more a reference than a strict canonical tie
maybe a couple generations down the line when ps2 gets to ps1 levels of emulation don't see it on this console generation though. though it would be interesting to see what they do with 64 since the save pack was why those were never released also yeah the ps2 games get a lot of shit but I like CoD and love Lament of Innocence due to their story and combat systems. shame they never got to refine those in a third game.
Austin Russell
The atmosphere in 64 was really special, I loved it too. I didn't play it until around 2012 either so I'm not relying on nostalgia, it's a solid game.
youtu.be/Iqyv6wLOgt4 >was arguing with some user that they would have to remix Leon's theme if it was in smash after the track listing during the direct >turns out I was right feels good to hunt the night
>too bad the originals better both are going for different tones the smash bros one sounds bombastic and loud, proud almost the original was somber and reflective, going into bursts of energy ones music for a fight, another is to reflect Leon's grief and anger at Walter
Dylan Miller
The intro sounds like Ghost.
Aaron Bailey
Those vocals are tight
Levi Brown
>- sound issues
That's due to the CV1 game revision used, not because of the collection itself.
Leo Rodriguez
BEEP
Jaxson Cooper
The DS games would require a ton more effort thanks to the touch screen. Sisters mode in PoR wouldn't work on anything but Switch handheld.
Jace Diaz
You seem new here. What hole did you crawl out of?
>the VR autist still at it Yeah we get it you watch digital foundry instead of actually playing games.
Colton Long
It's coming in a future patch.
Oliver Cook
Facts don't matter to anyone here
Christian Davis
And is in the Arcade Archives selection. I don't think they'd mind putting it in another collection despite how garbage it it. They could sub in Vampire Killer instead.
Christian Jackson
It feels like every time I check it it's further away
Grayson Gutierrez
So, do you think they're going to just do another Castlevania collection or rather will be doing them in batches of three? What other collections do you want from Konami? Arcade 2 with games from the 90s?
Nathaniel Long
I can't find any mention online of the PRG0 version having these sound issues prior to today. Just reports of it crashing.
Jayden Ortiz
Try not to get your hopes up too much user. You could always play a couple of the 3D castlevanias this month to keep you busy.
Andrew Williams
A rhythm bundle would be cool, they have a ton of great arcade rhythm games. Beatmania, DDR, Pop n Music.
Logan Adams
Holy Hell is Adventure crap.
Its so fucking slow!
Lincoln Jackson
Wasn't bloodlines co-op?
Christopher Baker
Still have both of those lying around somewhere. There's an orange tint in this collection.
Dylan Lee
It's a bit of a bummer. I don't know how much extra effort it would've taken to put them in as well but it's more than none and that's too much for Konami probably lol.
Honest to god we should be so lucky they included 8 different Castlevania games spanning 4 different consoles, that already sounded like a pipe dream for the Konami of 2019.
Robert Kelly
no
Alexander Cook
Do yourself a favor and play Rebirth. It's absolutely nothing like the original.
Easton Ross
Right? 8 games is usually a lot of games for a collection outside of Sega. Not even Capcom did that for the Megaman ones.
But damn man, hard to say whats worse: the sluggish movement or forcing you to make pixel perfect jumps with said movement.
Cameron Parker
I prefer the old linear platformer style of Castlevania games. SOTN was great, but we've had far too many Metroidvania games, particularly from indie developers which don't live up their expectations, I'm sick of the metroidvania genre in general.
Alexander Gray
I have no idea why Capcom divided their collections in the way they did. Look at the X collection. Part 1 had X1-X4, pretty much agreed to be the four best in the series. Every game in Part 2 was mediocre at best. They must've lost money compared to just throwing all eight games together and selling them for 40.
Josiah Smith
are they running Adventure through a SNES emulator? cause there was that thing that you could put into the slot that allowed you to play GB games on a SNES, the emu I've used in the past had it it would be funny if it turned out they didn't even emulate a GB
Christian Lopez
>cause there was that thing that you could put into the slot that allowed you to play GB games on a SNES
You mean a Super Game Boy?
Nah, this isn't that.
Michael Wood
I have nostalgia for X5 so I bought both collections.
Jack Phillips
X5 is the best of the second bundle for sure, and I bought them to have them all in one place, but I don't think anyone would say part 2 is worth the same amount of money as part 1 if you compare the quality of each game.
Jayden Watson
I'm tempted to try it. Just to see to how well Konami did the porting/emulating.
Its pretty impressive with all the screen filters you can choose. Especially the Game Boy ones--you can make them dot matrix and bright green.
Parker Gonzalez
I get that RoB and SotN weren't gonna be there because Sony paid for that Requiem compilation, but I'm a little surprised that they didn't put Dracula X/Vampire's Kiss on this.
Already tried and requested a refund. PC version is quite shitty. There's no kind of options menu that lets you change resolution or screen display(the game starts up in windowed mode, and I had to use alt+enter to get to fullscreen) On top of that, neither my PS4 or Switch Pro controller worked, and I will never play a classic Castlevania with a keyboard.
John Robinson
Just grab some emulators and roms. Fuck Konami and their bullshit. They're not gonna put your money to good use. They're just nickel and diming the nostalgia factor at this point.
Aaron Collins
>There's no kind of options menu that lets you change resolution or screen display This is a lie.
Connor Martinez
>nostalgia
More cashing in on Smash and the Netflix series.
Grayson Thompson
i can emulate all these shit, what's the point?
Bentley Phillips
Same thing, honest. What are Smash and the Netflix show but shallow reminders of how the series was when it was good?
Ayden Stewart
I hate that I can't put the Japan CV3 on my NES Mini, otherwise I'd be hacking that in.
You'd think somebody by now would've made a hack for the US version that puts back in most of what got changed.
Christopher Adams
How's the quality? Better than the last konami collection? Because if its better than the last collection I might give it the time of day
Thomas Morris
Did they mix up the terms original and pixel perfect?
Colton Ward
Probably because those versions were in an obscure compilation that only came out in Europe. Not even the Japanese Konami GB Collections had GBC support.
Hudson Miller
I love all Castlevania and I'll be the 1st to say metroidvanias are casual easy mode with no challenge barring some parts of COTM and the lvl 1 challenge for ecclasia. Fuck off with your garbage opinion.
Zachary Robinson
They used the PRG0 version of CV1 which has crashing issues and the NES games have an issue in which a beep can be occasionally heard. Japanese versions will be added in a patch "soon" so hopefully they'll fix these two problems as well.
Joshua Moore
To add to this user actual metroids are better at that style than iga's games.
Daniel Rivera
>NES games have an issue in which a beep can be occasionally heard.
It's not that severe. Track 2 from CV1 "Stalker" is the only one with beep issues. The beeps play at the exact same time throughout the track. Even when the track is played again in Level 4. There's a single 'instrument' in the song that isn't playing right.
Isaac Campbell
I read some people saying it affected other tracks as well.
Jack Collins
The XboxOne version has awful sound pops in Bloodlines and Super. Strnagely that's a platform exclusive bug that isn't happening in the other versions.
I like buying collections solely to support Sega, Konami, etc via actually good games
Connor Hernandez
Well that's pretty good then.
William Reyes
Really a shame Sotn didn't get included. But if they make a second collection for the Metroidvanias it's ok.
Brayden Hall
Does this at least have the better japanese version of castlevania III?
Asher Sullivan
>Japanese versions of each game will be patched in a post launch update sometime soon. Really? Source? If so it's a day one buy for me. Thank god, I wanted that so much but I was fully expecting Konami to fuck it up.
You've had fucking decades to play any of these games, what would preloading them now change? Moreover the file size size for the whole shebang is going to be in the megabytes, it will take seconds-minutes to download. Just go to the eshop and buy it when it comes out, there is literally no reason to preorder it other than to trick yourself into a childlike state of anticipation for a game you in all likelihood are going to play for 10 minutes then drop for the next shiny new thing, as it collects virtual dust in your library.
