Why do you think people bought Playstation 2s despite the original Xbox being vastly superior?

The xbone is literally the first console I’ve never owned since the Atari 2600, with the exception of a few obscure consoles. It’s for Madden nigger normies and no one else.

Also the smartest people use W7 or W10 LTSC, which do not have the store and all that bs.
Xbox One is extremely versatile and will give you zero problems with games, unlike W10, which runs perfectly only on said console.
Also Xbox is a service, which offers you tailored hardware or a less clean performance via W10 on your PC.
Also experts tend to hate launchers and clutter on their computers, which is why you look incredibly dumb and like a beginner in front of me.
I bet you even play MOBAs and loot shooters, frankly embarassing.

I bought an X because I prefer consoles to PC for most games and I play mostly multiplats. I really like backwards compatibility, as well. The only PS4 exclusive I played all gen was Bloodborne; I don't care about missing stuff like Horizon or Days Gone.

The only PS4 exclusive worth getting is Bloodborne. And even then, it's not a completely unique experience - just buy Dark souls 3 to get something similar. So it's really an actual entertainment center for my living room. I can play pretty much anything I would want to, and if I can't, I probably will at some point when they add support/port it. With Sony censoring shit, I've planned to switch my primary platform for single player games to the Xbone. In addition, it's pretty beefy for a console, which is really nice. I built a gaming PC and have been upgrading it for years and I've realized that all I ever really used it for is strategy games and niche shit both of which don't require much power. I don't like buying multiplats on the PC because of the jewy way they try to push their services (I buy on Steam, have to download Uplay, make an account with X, sign into Y, etc.), the shit ports, and the relatively fragile state of the installs/saves because my PC is primarily my coding workhorse/personal computer and I've had to move games around to accommodate this.

Xbox has Halo 5 and MCC (even if you don't like the former, which some don't, you will probably like the latter - which still isn't out on PC yet and won't be for some time, since they're releasing it in stages and the first game hasn't even come out yet).

It also has Forza, the most recent editions of which got better reviews than Gran Turismo Sport.

It also has Gears if you're into that, and it has Cuphead, which is an amazing game.

Honestly, XBOX won the the gen for me.
No matter how well the PS2 sold (and I sank a lot of hours on the PS2), XBOX was just superior and had high quality exclusives.

Backwards compatibility with tons of good OG Xbox and x360 games. Halo. I have an XboneX and PS4 pro and switch. I play most multiplat/multiplayer games on Xbox, because the online services are and the XboneX gives me superior performance and resolution. PS4 for the good exclusives, like persona 5 or God of war. But my Xbox is also mainly a Halo machine. I can't really afford a good gaming PC (seriously, thousands of dollars? Wtf) I really want one though, and I'm saving up for one. My current PC can play Minecraft and source engine games just fine, but more than that and it melts. And I was raised with Xbox. Got one with Halo 1 on release in 2001. Never had a PlayStation until PS4. Want a ps2 for some of those God tier games.

I only own a PC but if I had to consider consoles, I'd rather play Forza, Halo MCC, Sea of Thieves than Last of Us, Spiderman, Bloodborne. The Xbox One X also significantly runs better than the PS4 Pro, better backwards compatibility for 360 and OG Xbox games. The last Sony console I bought was a PS3 and besides MGS4 I basically just used it to play PS2 HD collections, which I just emulate now on PC.

If you're going to buy a console I'd go with a Switch and/or Xbox One X, unless you really like Sony games. Only game I'd want to play on PS4 is remade Shadow of the Colossus.

Game Pass is probably the single greatest invention Xbox has done; keeps multiplayer games alive, old games relevant, and lets underrated gems shine. If the new Xbox comes with Game Pass Ultimate and backwards compatibility they single-handed win next gen.

I was an Xbox fan from the beginning.

The Xbox controller was so much better than the dualshock, and the Xbox 360 controller even more so. I dont know why they kept the same shit design for 3 generations. PS4 controller is good though.

Performance was a factor as well. 480p > 480i. Xbox games still look good scaled up to 4k. I'm not going to engage an hyperbole and pretend that you cant use a PS2 on modern sets and your eyes bleed, it looks fine, but with the same game this little difference is night and day. While the PS3 was paper specs better than 360, we wouldn't see that until years later. Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta, Bioshock and may others play better on 360.

At the time Xbox Live was the best place to play online, and so that's where we all made our accounts, which proudly display a "15 years" circle today. Transferred from ogbox, 360, one. But PS2 had Resident Evil Outbreak, which despite mixed reviews at the time kicked ass. I think Sony not having a dedicated service in the PS2 era and instead making developers "roll their own" in contrast to Xbox hurt it. I still remember Outbreaks horrible web interface.

I wont deny the Bone era has been a colossal blunder. The X is a hell if a machine though. But we will see what the future holds.

I'm also an Xbox guy but I've been looking at the idea of a gaming PC too, and you can build even a cheap PC that will play the latest games. The Ryzen 3 2200G (and its built-in GPU) can play the latest games; sure, some of them you will have to put to 720p in order to get solid frame rates that are comfortably above 30 fps. But some of them will give you more than 30 fps even on 1080p. It will play games like GTA V, Destiny 2, even the demanding Shadow of the Tomb Raider, or The Witcher 3 - though that last one is a game that you probably want to play on 720p in order to average above 40 fps. I was watching a video though saying that The Witcher 3 can sometimes have dips in demanding sections because of memory bandwidth - obviously the 2200G is an APU, so both the CPU and GPU are sharing the same memory and memory bus.

Still, if you look at YouTube videos of the 2200G running games, it seems to certainly be able to play the latest games, usually at better frame rates than a base Xbox One, for example.

And it looks like you can build a rig with a 2200G for around $300, which yes is more expensive than the roughly $200 for an Xbox One S, but a PC is obviously more flexible, and has free multiplayer, and can do things besides games, and you could throw in a GPU later to boost performance significantly - the 2200G will still be a competent processor when working alongside a good GPU.

Brand loyalty, something MS earned with an entire generation of children through their first 2 consoles. Even then, didn't really help Xbone out much because yeah, there's no actually good reason to buy one.

Literally every decision that went into that console was bad. Thankfully the S and X are vastly superior consoles in every single way. But Jesus, Don Mattrick is a fucking moron. Surely after the Sega Saturn and the PS3, console companies would have learned that launching a console that's more expensive than the competitors is a really fucking bad idea? Especially when consoles are mostly bought by teenagers (or their parents, who don't want to spend too much on a kid's toy) - a much more price-sensitive market than others? And yet they bundled this pointless Kinect anyway?

I'm hoping they will make good decisions for the next Xbox. It MUST be price competitive and performance competitive with the PS5 - in fact really it should offer indisputably better value (whether that's the same performance for a lower price, or better performance for the same price). Even if it means making a loss initially, they HAVE to get the generation off to a good start, otherwise they're fucked.

Because I don't like playing Assassin's Creed, Dead Rising, Call of Duty, Arkham games, or Gears of War anywhere else. It's a dudebro system so you get the dudebro games on it. Why would I bother getting them on PC? PC feels weird to play games on which aren't exclusive to the platform, and you will almost always have a higher playercount on Xbox than any other system. The 360 still has people playing stuff like Battlefield Bad Company and Assassin's Creed online while the PS3 is almost always barebones despite the online being free and PC doesn't even have BFBC1.

PS4 has themes so you can't just revamp the entire UI. They improved upon is greatly though while keeping the same design and its simply the easiest to navigate and most appealing. Working with what you've got sometimes plays out better than just redoing entirely.

Why would I build a $2000 PC when I can get an Xbox Anaconda for only $500, with the same games which some that will play better on Xbox (Halo Infinite) and have coop features, plus I get BC to Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games. The next gen will only improve in the CPU area, AMD literally does not have the chips to improve on the GPU enough for 4k60.
Consoles will be stuck at 30 FPS for the majority of games for another 6 years.
Unless they feel like putting out $600+ monstrosities with 400W power bricks and tons of R&D put into expensive cooling (or a giant fucking chassis that won't fit in most people's living rooms).

Game Pass is the best thing ever and I enjoy Rare Replay and Dead Rising 3. It also has to do with brand recognition, like why people use Crest toothpaste over Colgate and vice versa. Also, a PC is more expensive and you have to replace parts every 1-2 years, while a console can last up to 6-7 years, all for relatively the same price.

I won an XBOX, but I love it for BC and GWG.
Plus with Microsoft Rewards, I've basically paid for my XBL and GamePass subs and redeemed $100+ in gift cards for a number of games and a controller.

First of which, some people like me may have hand-me-down computers from an older sibling that no longer needed it so we can only play older titles and indie titles on it.

Second, some games do not work at all on our computers even though the tech specs surpass recommended specs. I even had to accept GOG's offer of refunds because their version of a game would not work with the graphics cards on my laptop despite my laptop surpassing the tech spec requirements. The game simply would not start.

Also, I can have access to those games I got for Xbox One when I get a desktop that can run them and even then, I will still hook up my computer to a TV with HDMI and use an Xbox One controller if a game has controller support and I will keep my console around in case my PC is incompatible with a certain game.

Next gen consoles aren't out, and we all know AMD never delivers.

Because AMD tech is crazy power inefficient and runs hot. The couple of games that run at 60 FPS/4k are games that run like that on just about any midrange GPU. From what I can assume ps5 will only be bc with ps4 so it won't be entirely great like the xbox's bc has been. But ultimately I use my x1 for BC and its screwed me a couple of times in that aspect where the newer version of the game isn't the better version. I wanted to play RDR and undead nightmare before rdr2 came out and undead nightmare is unplayable on x1 unless you have the patience of a monk. Another one was banjo kazooie actually didn't have the current update of a glitch that ruins 100% and I got to the end of the game before I realized I was fucked.
