And somehow she’s still used a lot through out the series

It was necessary

She died but never left.

Hell, she's the one that shittalks Dahlia so hard that she excises her from Maya's body

MaiaMia is good and all but women in fancy clothes like her does very strage things to my dick

Is the new HD port worthwhile? I've never played the series before, I did play some of the first game a long time ago, but never got round to finishing it.

It looks like shit. just get them on the DS.

It's pretty awesome if you don't mind dropping that much dough on 20 year old visual novels.

Normally I'd disagree due to the whole "need to learn how to stand on your own" protagonist journey but her spirit just keeps lingering around and Phoenix never even comes to that conclusion until the VERY END of the trilogy. So why even kill her?

they look way better on original DS if you can get them, but the original trilogy remains peak ace attorney.

Damn, HD Godot looks dope. Why are the other sprites so ugly in comparisons?

Yeah I don't mind, looks good and I prefer playing on a big screen. It'll give me something to do this weekend.

I play the DS games. I dropped my 3DS playthrough because the sharp, under-animated sprites just look wrong.

This. With dead Mia, you get a spunky younger sister who can transform into big tiddie ghost Mia, and cute eternal loli to protect who can also transform into big tiddie ghost Mia in an outfit that barely contains her.

I guess Mia being dead also gave Maya characterization since a lot of her arc is based around being uncertain of her channeling abilities and seeing her channel Mia when the chips are down helps give her confidence in herself.

Kill her really is retarded and was only shock value consodering how much they use her to help Phoenix
At least the fact that she is dead drives all Godot character

This moment always seemed weird to me. Isn't the actual Mia in the room with Nick and Godot as he does this? I know he says he remembers young Mia more strongly than he remembers old Mia, but he barely even aknowledges her despite being affected so strongly by Nick's objection.

He was saying Phoenix inherited her spirit and proved himself.

Followed by immediately fucking up his career.

What a kino moment. Do later games ever achieve this?

I've been replaying through AA3 since I played it the first in the series back in 2007, but didn't start playing the other games until around 2013 or so. I enjoy the foreshadowing in the "filler" cases where Godot does a couple interesting things:

>his reaction to Mia being channeled by Maya (although to be fair everybody should react to this because of how her fucking body changes)
>the ketchup stain on the apron he couldn't see at all, but nobody told him about because it wasn't actually blood

I forgot if there were other ones, but those two came to mind. It's also briefly mentioned in 3-1 how Dahlia poisoned someone's coffee but you're probably intended to forget it because at that point he hasn't even been introduced so the fact it was coffee probably wasn't even important.

Feels fucking weird though calling him "Gah-doh" when his name has always been pronounced "Goh-doht" in my head for 12 goddamn years.

I still fail to interpret that word as a compliment.

The coloring is SUPER inconsistent. I can't explain why but I just played the entire HD trilogy and some characters have awful coloring and some don't. It's not even like the main characters got more work, Gumshoe's skin and Maya's hair both look awful.

Played through the first case and dropped. Seems to be just as bad as AAI1, hilariously drawn out and long winded.

Would you rather get гapдepoб?

So what did Yea Forums think of the anime?

I thought it was decent but could have done better with an extra episode. Godot confessed way too fast.

Couldn't stand it. Just felt like extremely low effort mass produced shounen crap with every possible trope and cliche shoved in.

t. only watched 2 episodes of season 1

You should give the episodes which cover Dahlia Hawthorne's cases a chance. It's a unique experience when fully voiced and with music. This scene was particularly good.

Attached: 19.jpg (850x480, 35K)

If she didn't die then there would be no series because every case would have been solved in 5 minutes.

I prefer it over the DS, but I’ve played a lot of the DS versions. Anything is better than the original iOS portraits. Shit made Edgeworth look fat.

Ok Yea Forums which game had the best final case. It’s 2 or 3 for me... both are incredible.

overrated shit, 1-4 is much better

I beat the trilogy. Are the other games worth it? There's just so much which kinda puts me off.

tasteless virgin

It's more variable past the trilogy (although, given my opinion of 2, even the trilogy isn't all gold).

4 is widely regarded as a mess and underwhelming (a bit harsh but I see the criticism), 5 is too easy and focuses too much on Athena (who tends to be divisive at best as a character), while 6 is considered a fairly strong entry (although people think Maya never really serves a good purpose; it redeems Apollo, though).

It's just more of the same cash cow milking. Up to you.

Try the recently fan translated Great Ace Attorney I guess, the translation is available for both 3DS and Android versions.

Attached: Dai_Gyakuten_Saiban.0-1038x576[1].jpg (1038x576, 140K)

I think I liked JFAs final case the first time but going through the series again, fuck that shit so hard. It's so fucking long and stretched out to the point where it basically feels like half the game, and it's boring as hell when you know whats going to happen.

If you liked the original trilogy, you'll probably like the later games.

Attached: Ace Attorney Guide.png (3000x2434, 1.88M)

Apollo Justice is literally the same game as the trilogy, it's just Phoenix and Maya are replaced by donut steel clones and there's some other dude named Phoenix Wright for some reason. Some people take great offense with this, but honestly I didn't mind. It plays and feels just like the earlier games.

OLD

Great Ace Attorney fan translation is out and it's pretty high quality, on par with AAI2 at least:
scarletstudy.gq/

What? Cases are complete garbage.

Pros about Ace Attorney 4:
- Fun and interesting characters (Klavier, although too helpful to be an antagonist, is still a fresh and compelling take on the prosecutor role)
- Better at world-building than the trilogy (although they don't follow up on the goddamn hook until the very, very end of 6)
- Some of the best music in the series

Cons:
- Case 3 is poorly plotted and full of padding
- Apollo Justice's ability to stand on his own is too diminished by characters like Klavier and Phoenix
- The ending lacks impact due to lacking player involvement

Sorry, forgot one pro: Case 1 is the best opener in the entire series.

This could be resolved by she becoming a judge or something.

is this the most kino end to any trilogy ever?

It's the right way to go out, at least.

AJ will always be disliked because just as Phoenix came into his own at the end of 3, he gets slapped down to hobo and we have to play as AJ who is a fucking dork.

>- Apollo Justice's ability to stand on his own is too diminished by characters like Klavier and Phoenix
You could say the same thing about Phoenix in his trilogy though. Even in the last game he's told he's nothing without Mia holding his hand.

feenie came into his own after 1 when he rekt von karma

Nick was a hack who relied on everything but his own abilities. Only at the end of 3 does he managed to stand on his own feet. Godot calls him out on this shit.

AJ felt like a slap in the face.

You still get the feeling he's working things out himself, just using Mia as someone to bounce things off of when he gets to an impasse.

In Apollo Justice other characters are outright beating Apollo to the punch at pointing out things.

That actually brings up a question: so in all her years of being an attorney, did MIa never go up against Von Karma? He's still technically undefeated by the point of the game after all.

Mia was far too small time to go against Manfred.

I think the big difference here is that Mia only shows up when Nick legitimately at his wit's end. AJ constantly gets helped in the initial case by Kristoph, then Phoenix, and then Emma and Klavier help him through the rest of the cases. AJ doesn't get the chance Nick did to stand on his own within his first game, and realistically, AJ having his own trilogy would've helped. Unfortunately that didn't happen.

Also, Apollo's gimmick is shouting really hard and generally an uninteresting character.

Young Mia is best Mia.

Even Phoenix didn't have to encounter him until a high profile case occurred. It's totally possible Mia never had a case high profile enough to encounter him.

>Edgeworth is the only lawyer/prosecutor who is capable of doing things somewhat competent

Franziska's pretty good at what she does but she lets her desire to win outweigh her competency.

Wasn't Mia pretty much considered the greatest defense attorney of her time though?

Blackquill is also good at what he does. His main problem is that he's starting to waifu Athena.

I mean, Nick is pretty uninteresting himself, but being uninteresting doesn't mean unlikable. I think AJ's a really good take for Nick's protege. He's a slightly more dickish, brash version of Nick who just gets ignored in court instead of ending up as the butt of the joke like Nick usually does. It's a small difference, but it goes a long way. Wish the same could be said for Athena.

>24
>young

That's because he gets stepped on by other characters. It's part of the same point. His characterization was never constructed properly because any opportunity for him to shine gets thrown to another character.

Well, I agree she shouldn't have died since it lead to that terrible ghost mia deus ex machina bs

Phoenix is somewhat the same, but the difference is that Phoenix is ultimately someone who is able to react to the absurdity of situations around him while still feeling like a part of it. Apollo is too much of a straight man to a point of having nothing else going for him. I mean aside from his mary sue-tier backstories that is. I don't know how people complain about Athena when he's around.

I don't remember that line, but it's a little weird with where Phoenix is at now to consider that she only ever took on one person as a student. You'd think someone as experienced as her would've trained other people by the end of her career.

Relatively young, then.

Nick is mostly defined by his relationships with the other characters, he knows Miles and Larry, and has a history with them. Mia is also closer to him than Trucy is to Apollo, since she mostly sees him as a colleague or an employee of Nick. Apollo is just kind of there, while Phoenix is a lot more involved with other people.

NO SHUT UP THAT'S YOUNG!

They were probably fuckin'.

>Apollo is too much of a straight man to a point of having nothing else going for him.

I agree with this, but I think that's what I like about Apollo. He's the sole person in the courtroom who's actually trying to stay level-headed despite all the crazy non-sense that comes up, and every time he makes a valid point or effort that should keep the discussion grounded, he just gets completely talked over like if he wasn't even there. My problem with Athena is that she feels like all the other genki girls in AA like Mia, Trucy, etc. except she's an attorney.

Agreed, but this is exactly the point where I feel like Apollo should've just had his own games. The problem with Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice is that we find out that Apollo has all these people he actually knew, but they're introduced so quickly that it becomes unbelievable. If we spent three games traveling between Kuraihn and the States courts, it would've felt waaaay more natural.

AA7 is going to be about a prosecutor who was actually Mia's student before Phoenix. Screen cap this.

NO MORE PHOENIX STORYLINES.

They really tried making Apollo more popular, but slapping some shit out of nowhere on him each time and him going "this was the REAL reason I am who I am today".

the shading and lineweight look amateurish

t. artist

AA7 will reveal that Phoenix fucked and came inside Mia several times back when she was mentoring him, and the new prosecutor is their secret love-child. Baby wants daddy to pay for letting mommy did.

*letting mommy die

I only have two words for you, good sir:
BLACK
PSYCHE-LOCKS

Now the question is what sorta shit they're going to push on Athena. Perhaps a case where she finally reveals that Trucy and Apollo are siblings?

I want to grope susatos flat chest over her kimono

Athena's biggest issue is that her court gimmick is the stupidest shit I've ever seen and it grinds the case to a halt.

Fuck you I love the mood matrix

Most overrated game in the series.

>Athena's biggest issue
GOTCHA!
"Witness, why your dick just got bigger?"

Case 1 of AJ is really good, but I'd consider the first case of AAI2 to be my personal best

Visually speaking, I actually really enjoy it. It's nice having visuals that appear and change based on character testimony. Prodding for specific things that could've altered the witness' state or point of view is also really neat. Only problem is that it's a bit simple when it comes to selecting emotions and there's no punishment for getting something wrong.

Neo v thinks 24 is old. Sad

Who's going to be writing AA7?

That's the time travel one, right? It was fine.

The HD isnt the 3DS version, it actually adds in those removed animation frames and redo's the backgrounds/scenery

I like it, just looks to HD. Pixelated handheld look for me looks better.

I wish the gimmick of that case wasn't something I assumed happened from the get-go.

It's okay, she became his Stand.

Out of these two divisive final cases, which do you prefer? 4-4 or 5-5?

Deserve ain't got nothin to do wtih it, nigga.

Is Maya still a virgin if she's channeling her sister during the act?

Trucy is a better attourney than Apollo. She should've been the protag.

The lines are all the same weight because these illustrations were made to be digitized and used as sprites, where you'd typically want the lines clear and visible despite the smaller size. The actual illustrations look like shit because they weren't intended to be used like this.

And Trucy.

You dont need to be an artist to state that this thing looks like mid 2000s era deviant art fanart.

I'll take that over perceiving a witnesses nervous habit. "His nose twitched to the right by 0.2mm, Your Honour, so he's clearly lying!"

The sprites for the AJ port is actually really good. Why didn't they give the trilogy the same treatment?

>"nervous tick happens, so what!?"
Nigga, this is literally asked by every perceived witness and then was followed up by Apollo showing why or how the testimony could be a lie with evidence. It's like you didn't even play the game.

I know its a kids game, but throughout all 3 games I just wanted someone to ask ghost Mia what happens when we die no one addresses the elephant in the room.

Also how the memory thing works, Mia always somehow knew what was going on when she was channeled as if her mind and the mind of whoever brought her to the world of the living again are connected.

the bits as Gregory and everything with Debeste were great, the rest was just ehh

Courtney was just as annoying as Franziska and Ray was just as forgettable as Larry

>I know its a kids game, but throughout all 3 games I just wanted someone to ask ghost Mia what happens when we die no one addresses the elephant in the room.
would murder still be treated as a grave crime if people had certain proof of an afterlife? and the afterlife was an improvement?

I'm playing it right now, and I still think it's stupid.

it felt like an original trilogy case in its writing I think

You would have gotten too attached to her so she was killed early.

Tough question...I feel like it probably would still be a grave crime, murder being legalized would likely result in mass killings and further our extinction as a species.

After replaying Justice for All due to the remaster, I have to say it's not as bad people have been saying. The circus wasn't that bad at all, the only character I didn't like from it was the ventriloquist, Moe was actually based and clownpilled, people need to wake up. Honestly, my main problems with it were that Franziska didn't do anything of note and that it was too short. The game sort of feels like a bunch of bonus episodes rather than a full cohesive game sometimes, it's still quite fun though.

For me it never really gets going as well as the first game. I think part of that is the much weaker soundtrack.

yeah by no means would I expect violence against innocents to be legalized.

maybe there'd be an inverse effect and capital punishment would be applied way more routinely.

yeah the third trial is the most "filler" like trial in the game but it has important moments like the apron stain and his visorglow in the darkness.

Easy to say "deserve" with the power of hindsight. It's like when Liquid succumbed to FOXDIE, it's not like they knew what was going to happen next, in terms of both popularity and story.

that scene was amazing
In general 3-5 was quite good, which gave me relief because in the first season the fillercases were good but the big ones like 1-4 and especially 2-4 were quite a bit worse

>Go back to your empty Patreon page
Sorry what is this projecting.

>lol maya is kidnapped!
>lol it was a big sister jealous of her younger sister having greater powers than her!
>lol it was the prosecutor accepting the blame and willing to get fucked just to protect his little sister!
>lol the Disney villain did it!

6-5 was fucking trash and shows how creatively bankrupt the AA team is.

Franny did just absolutely nothing in the game, she has horrible luck
>I am the daughter of the greatest prosecutor in the world Manfred Von Karma and I will have my revenge on you Phoenix Wright!
>lose
>lose
>shot in the right shoulder ironically
seemed like kind of an afterthought as if they didn't have anyone to replace Edgeworth

They only upscaled and smoothed the lines, the original sprites in the ds were already amazing

I legit like most of JFA soundtrack. The problem is that the court themes (you know, just the most important part of the soundtrack) are also the weakest in the game.

wait, they made another season but the tables are still wrong?

Why did they pick A-1 again?

>>lol it was a big sister jealous of her younger sister having greater powers than her!
Wasn't Ga'ran the younger sister?

I do not like the game but Apollo Justice has the best sprites, animation, and some of the best music. 3D models were a huge mistake.

it's true. a thumbnail sized drawing can be drawn fantastically, but that doesn't mean it can be expanded infinitely and retain the same feeling. when I get time I am going to redraw one of these remaster sprites with varied line weight to illustrate the point.

It can drag on a bit now and then but the pay off is incredible

AHEM
FUCK GRAMARYES

but...but...Trucy is cute...

in the show it's always defense on the left prosecution on the right...

that's the same as the games though right? facing the judge, phoenix on the left, prosecutor on the right.

Based and coffeepilled.

Exactly

fucking this. I sure as shit ain't touching any of the modern games when all the characters both looks like shit design-wise and graphically as well

Will Athena ever be good

Playing through for the first time, and Rise from the Ashes made me want to shoot myself between the gimmicks like having to sit through that 5 FPS video over and over.
Please tell me something like that never shows up again now that I'm done with that case.

Rise from the ashes is a super unique case to the series, it’s drastically different from the rest of the original trilogy since it actually came out as a bonus case on the game’s first port I believe

they do it for free ramen and booze

Where do people usually pirate android games these days?

you're fine for the OG trilogy, but do not play apollo justice because turnabout serenade is notoriously bad for this exact reason.
