Have you played the demo, /v ?

Have you played the demo, /v ?
What did you think about the fact, that there is only a Haruspex campaign for now?
I had pretty low expectations for the new Mor after delays, some screenshots and the fact that they decided to team up with the publisher despite being crowdfunded, but the demo changed my mind entirely. I haven't been so invested in a game in years.

Pathologic 2 thread.

No, but doing my first classic playthrough.
Finished Bachelor last week, now on Haruspex, his story feels more engaging so far

It will be less detailed in the last days of the campaign. They didn't had enough time or money to flesh out the steppe culture to the extent they wanted. If i were you i would wait for the remake, Haruspex comes out in just a week.

What's up with russians creating weird ass games?

Russians are a weird ass culture.

Don't remember any really weird russian games besides the ones made by Ice-Pick Lodge. In their case it's the creative vision of this guy.

I am also interested in how good the english localization is. I should replay the demo with english subs. The writing in russian version of the remake is really impressive, i wonder if they were capable to translate it adequately.

How the Russians design a game
>Director (who does a decent share of work too since they're understaffed as a small studio: "Alright Aлeкcaндp, we need some ideas for kyaracters in game, what ideas we have to get people's attention?
>Employee: "Aye blyat, my cousin Aндpeй talked about his brother having krokodil nightmares about impaled machine man again, I took notes down so we draw design"
>Director: Fire up Windows 90 komputor, we model and get design in game as soon as possible
>game is absolute kino but is unfortunately not well known, but the small team takes pleasure in enjoying the experience of making a game
>entire game is filled with nightmarish beings that only Russians would come up with

Escapism from everyday life in russia.

is this a remake? a soft reboot? a sequel?
i played the original game and the HD version, is there anything of interest in this for me or is it just the same game with slightly better graphics? please spoonfeed me

I think it's not only russians, but eastern europeans in general. Darkwood being the closest example, was made by a polish studio.
I also felt that they've lessened the weird vibe that the Pathologic gave, at least for the first day of the demo and game became more immersive-sim like.

90 years of communism will do that to you

It's a complete remake, but there is only a Haruspex campaign for now. The game still has the atmosphere, but plays and feels really differently. Different engine, items, combat, different dialogues, new mechanics, new npc's, layout of the city is changed, etc. I was really impressed by how dense and alive it felt.
The intro implies that it's a second reenactment of a play and we are auditioned as an actor. It also gives the same kind of hints that rebuild of Eva gave, if you know what i mean.

Glad that they're starting with the Haruspex. The Bachelor is faggot that exists as bait for twinks and fangirls.

damn, that sounds kinda interesting. i guess i'll keep an eye out for it
thanks user

A soft reboot/reimagining/different interpretation. The story and main characters are the same, but supposedly it's different enough from the original to be considered a separate game.
Also they're releasing it in episodes because their money melted away, so we only get to play Haruspex at first.

He also acted like a real asshole in the demo. Suggesting that we were intellectually inferior to him and should just step aside and let the professional do the work. They've really decided to flesh out rivalry between our playable characters.

I wish The Void was getting a remake just like Pathologic.

>What did you think about the fact, that there is only a Haruspex campaign for now?
Given their explanation for why that is, I have no hopes for getting the other campaigns. i just can't see them making much money off the game as it is, too niche, already got their money from those most interested via Kickstarter.

Art for art's sake.

give me games to fill the void while i wait for this to come out Yea Forums

Deadly Premonition

Argue with anons ad nauseum about which clans are left to be revealed for Bloodlines 2. Bonus points if you go pants-on-head retarded and claim it MUST be [clan that obviously isn't indicated].

>traces of the supernatural reveal themselves exactly as often as he prefers them to

It is a passion project, so i think they will at least complete Bachelor's campaign. Most of the work is done already, items, mechanics, locations, NPC-models, etc. It's really not that much work to add another character in a remake, so i wouldn't be so pessimistic. The game was even in top-selling on steam for a few days, when they have opened the pre-orders.

>The game was even in top-selling on steam for a few days,
I did not know this. That's good news.

good cultural\literature (theatre in this case) background but with no gamedesign school to back it up and no classic console tradition to copy - out of the box thinking - that's why many russian/eastern euro devs are creating interesting weird but flawed games
also no producers to ruin it trying to make a product for a 'focus group' of some add children

t.russian

yep

I downloaded the first game but the game freaks out when I launch it.

Did you download the original game or Classic HD? You shouldn't have problems with the later.

>I think it's not only russians, but eastern europeans in general
that could be why I find these surreal settings so comfy

Discuss.

I like how NPC's look now, they've listened to feedback and cahnged the aesthetic from cartoonish and disney-like to something more unique and fresh.

I kid, I kid, pretty sure he's a doctor or some shit and Yea Forums is populated with worthless fuck-ups.

Should I play the original first or does this "replace" it? Do I miss out on much with the original if I use russian voices (since some parts don't have subtitles)

You can play it the original to grasp the atmopshere, but don't really need to complete them. Remake doesn't replace the originals, it has different feel, plays differently and makes a lot of alterations to the story.
>Do I miss out on much with the original if I use russian voices
Not much. Unsubbed dialogue is mostly mumbling of inner thought of some characters, that aren't that important.

So basically on the same level as unsubbed stuff in Metro? Good to know, thanks.

Sounds like an absolute bender.

Sounds handsome.

>didn't had
ESL retard

is it the same demo that they released like a year ago? think it was backers only, I really liked that one

No it's the new one. It depicts the intro and the first day of the game until 2 p.m.

When is this coming to GOG?

I've waited for this thing since forever. Always wanted to play the original Pathologic, but never found the time nor motivation for it.
I've wanted to play the game for 14 years now. Зa этo вpeмя я дaжe выyчил pyccкий язык. Oбoжaю pyccкoю литepaтypy и пoэзию.

Just upgraded my pc from a toaster and can't wait until I can play Haruspex again.

Attached: 1489004969904.jpg (1920x1200, 555K)

In that case I will check this new one out, thank you!

>never played the game but think the threads are comfy
>start watching this
Oh dear god this game.

When Tinybuild pull their finger out.

It seems that Ice Pick are happy to have it on multiple platforms, but Tinybuild are dragging their heels.

its basically a bum simulator survival game with somewhat interesting story and writing to save it

Are you saying this isn't the bee's knees?

Dumb anime poster

the downside is that scavenging, stealing and trading is tedious but absolutely needed to survive and the mechanics are clunky
but you should try it if you like the overall idea and can get immersed in such games

Hopefully this game gets a decent amount of exposure from youtubers. Thats the only way I could see it doing well. Only one I know of whos for sure going to cover it is Mandalore. I asked mathewmatosis on twitter if he was interested but he gave the token "Im interested but its a low priority" response. I really hope this game doesnt flop to the point that we dont get the other episodes.

I hope we get something new in endings

>When is this coming to GOG?
Not soon, considering episodic structure of the release.
>Oбoжaю pyccкyю литepaтypy и пoэзию

Nothing to be happy about

It only takes you one winter in Russia to throw you in existential crisis.

Zeno Clash

Oh how ferocious Mother Nature is!

the problem is they can't design gameplay worth a fuck. it's like all eurojank

Not sure that Mandalore will cover it anytime soon either. He isn’t that big on new releases. Maybe we should ask SSETH for assistance.

It seems like the game already has a decent amount of exposure among the type of people who are actually likely to play it. I remember it being on the steam top sellers at one point despite being a preorder.

Attached: Capture.png (1497x657, 95K)

Did they announce when the remaining two campaigns will release? Or will there only be the Haruspex?

I think that it can have a lot of success with the immersive-sim players. It’s really close in gameplay mechanics to those kinds of games.
That is really good.
I think there will be other campaigns even if the game isn’t that successful. Studio is located in Russia (which means low costs) is small and mostly consists of a few close friends whom are doing it mostly for the idea. They are planning on releasing Bachelor second.
