On r*tail the medium-high pop servers were the ones that would lose their population and that usually happened after a new xpac (and the influx of people playing from the xpac died down). Servers like Illidan stayed high population forever. Though who's to say the trend will be the same for vanilla. I still stand by no cross realm BGs whatsoever in vanilla, as that's literally one of the defining traits of old school wow

Sharding is when you're not actually on the same server as other players that created a character on the same server as you. You are phased in and out of existence between different servers each time you transition from one part of the world to the other all so the overlords at blizzard can maintain some resemblance of 'fairly populated area' at all times across the entire game world. It is the antithesis to MMOs and kills community because it all but ensures the people you meet in the open world are not people you will be seeing on a consistent basis. It's the quickest way to make your MMO dead as fuck. Which is ironic, cause it sets out do accomplish the exact opposite and fails to do so.

Simply don't choose a low population server. They tell you the population intensity for a reason. High population = easier to find other people for pvp and dungeons/raids. Low population = you get farmable nodes and mobs to yourself, it's a tradeoff. It would suck to server transfer but I doubt that will be an issue if you choose a high population right out the gate. Even if they have a subscriber retention issue because people realize it's nostalgia, I'd wager the big servers will still stay big for a long time

Swiftmend is pretty weak for the amount of talent points required to get it. Nature's Swiftness + high rank heal is 'good enough' for a tank that just suffered a giant slap and needs instant healing. HOTW/Resto is a pretty generic do it all build if you want to walk into any content and do it . Feral combat will probably be the strongest PvP spec in phase 1.

Here's the thing. Given Gnomish Engineering has the perk of a Gadgetzan teleport item I was thinking it was gonna be more beneficial to have for raiding because I'd be closer to AQ. I'm also able to make that Gnomish Battle Chicken for melee haste which is kinda cool as a Shaman. On the flip side... Goblin engineering, while it has an inferior teleport, does give me the ability to teleport upto Winterspring which enables me to have my hearthstone set to Kargath for instance while still having something close to home. It also enables me to make sapper charges which are useful for WPVP and Goblin Rocket Boots which are way better than their Gnomish counterpart because lower cd, better speed. However, they're prone to breaking. So theres the possibility of some side gold making sappers, goblin boots and helm for people that took Gnomish. It's nice that the former two are consumable too.

What do you think? I'm weighing towards Goblin. Raiders would have me take Gnomish, though.

It basically gives you an extra chance at some windfury procs or time to cut off some cooldown from a frost shock which is your entire game plan.

They only have 1-2 exclusive BoP recipes each, even though gnomish can't make certain goblin items because they can't learn to craft them, you can just give the mats to a goblin engineer and have them craft it for you to use, they're tradable BoE items, only requirement is engineer level, not specialization.

So you can use Goblin Rocket Boots, Sapper Charges etc as a Gnomish Engineer and vice versa.

I used to be puzzled as to why blizzard always seemed to release expansions right after the summer vacation. But then i made a sudden realization; WoW is a subscription based game, and if the school kids could spend all summer no-lifing the new expansion, they'll lose interest in fewer, billable, months compared to only being able to play after school.
