Announcement of the new xbone, probably them FINALLY ditching the xbone name since they've hated it since the meme started. Four to five launch titles (Gears, forza, halo MCC port, sea of thieves, mystery new title. Maybe a new IP, maybe a revival, maybe a former multiplat turned exclusive), bunch of multiplat garbage that's on PC and probably PS4/ps5 too.

Huge lineup of games, shame that most of them are multiplats and almost all of them are on PC.

Multiplats aren't inherently garbage. The filler they use for montages (them and sony and nintendo all, not picking on MS here) are all garbage. They flash 20 titles up on the screen and you think "Wow, that's a lot of games" then you look a little bit further and find that they're not exclusive, you can get them anywhere, what is that supposed to do in terms of making me want to buy the system? If I can get it anywhere, they're not realy doing a good job selling their product.

I'm expecting some megaton announcements from both Microsoft and the third parties that they have on their stage. I'm hoping that Perfect Dark is far enough along in development to be shown.

They will announce a new Souls game so they'll probably do it on this conference. There will be some shitposting by people believing it will be an Xbox exclusive or so.

They bowed out, like nintendo did. E3 is way too expensive to host a conference for (several million dollars for the stagetime, when you can spend under $300,000 and produce shitty 30 minute video with trailers and some commentary).
Not that i'm saying there's not probably some larger reason for it (I mean, they said so themselves, they don't have enough titles to justify it), but still. I'd rather them not bother with some big stage show filled with multiplats when it's supposed to be the SONY or MICROSOFT show. Not some "here's some stuff that's on all the platforms that we're advertising because we don't have enough of our own exclusive content". It's like a fucking joke.

They never said that. They said "when they had enough applicants" which means they can do it whenever they want. Probably the weekend after E3 and that retarded tournament they're holding there.

My post was not attacking MS, I think they will have a pretty good conference like they did in the last few years.

I was more talking about Sony - if they have nothing to show and most of their stuff will be coming around next year (possibly during PS5 launch), what is the point of having a conference with few games? Is not participating at all even worse than having a shit conference?

E3 also largely fucks with the development pipeline because devs have to make E3 builds which often require their own mini-dev team. It also comes in the middle of the year inbetween milestones and releases.
It's also worthless because they can either just release shit themselves now through social media, or go directly to websites/journos. Shows have only become worth it if there is a ton of consumer traffic which is why TGS didn't die, and why things like Gamescom and PAX are more important.
Things like Paris Games Week also become important because it's the last burst of PR material right before the fall season.
E3 is essentially obsolete from a PR, distributor, retailer, and consumer standpoint only costing people money for something with horribly limited returns.

Multiplats, CGI trailers, excuses and bullshit. Maybe they'll drag out some autistic hardware dude to talk about FastLoad or whatever gimmick they think will save them next.

Square isn't even at E3 for a conference. Theirs is a prerecorded show just like Nintendo. They're just airing it during the old Sony timeslot.
I think we should've seen Sony pulling out of E3 as the obvious conclusion in 2018. They were spread too thin and had little to show except for a few interesting announcements every few months making every show 50% repeat and 50% barely update new trailers.
They managed to get both Monster Hunter and FF7 for the last State of Play which means that they're just going to use the Direct format for updates between the major consumer shows, then probably redirect their "big" productions to bringing back PSX either at the end of this year or beginning of next year.

That was my guess too. I think E3 as a whole will die sooner rather than later. Nintendo's been testing the waters the last few years with their best buy, walmart, target, and disneyland demo tours, sony and MS have their special events, ea has ea play, ubisoft and squenix will probably just leech on to the other company events.

I'm excited to see what sony has coming though. Maybe it's naivety but i'm hopeful that the quiet/calm has been because they're hard at work on ps5 launch titles. Same with MS, honestly. I think even they realized the xbone was a failure, and they've been putting a lot of focus into the new system. If ANY of those rumours about it being streaming-focused are true, they can just kiss their asses goodbye, the xbox brand will be well and truly fucked.

I anticipate a good selection of games that look intriguing but I feel no hype.
