Okay with it, better than yellow toad, and with a recognizable female character such as a Toadette being playable I guess it allows girls who are into Super Mario Bros games to pick her over the Mario Bros or Toad. Would have preferred either Wario or Waluigi or even yet Daisy if they wanted a playable female.

I think Super Mario RPG and then Paper Mario did the same thing. That was back when they were more like a little mushroom-based civilization than a bunch of annoying smurfs though.

Wario and Waluigi would be way better than Blue Toad and Pink Toad. They could have completely different play styles that let you design levels in completely different ways, since you'd be making them to challenge a different character. Wario could just play like he does in the Wario Land games and Waluigi could have something entirely new. It would also be cool if Luigi got to be slippery and floaty.

The designs for Toads in Paper Mario 64 were the best. Varied and lively but still within the realm of the regular Mushroom Kingdom style, whereas TTYD tried to be a lot more exotic.
The generic Toadette designs from Paper Mario should definitely be rendered in 3D and they should be thrown in as half the Toads in crowds or as NPCs. Then the Toads won't be quite as damn generic and they won't have that weird Smurfette thing going on. Also those guards were pretty cool, sprinkle them around the castle areas.

Blue is for sure more popular. He's the one from SMB2 after all, while Yellow is a fag that debuted in 2009.

Sonic only has Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, and Ray. Mario has Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina. Sure Toads suck and having additional Toads makes Toad himself suck, but when it's just the one he's alright.

That is nowhere near the amount of reoccurring sonic character nor mario characters.
