Honestly Johns shit hit hard all at once but Arthur was like a slow burn that I didn't feel the full affect of until another week of playing as John, going to all the graves and hearing Arthurs voice echo in johns head when you do is heartbreaking

supposedly patch 1.1 turned off ambient occlusion and it's been off since. a lot of people uninstall and reinstall the game from disk to have 1.0/ambient occlusion on.

I thought originally that you could have different endings and one of the endings would be Arthur ratting out the gang and saving himself and the other where you do a heroic sacrifice and die with the others who didn't make it to RDR1. I thought the big finale was the gang going back for the Blackwater treasure and being ambushed and captured / killed in doing so.

rockstar make good narratives when they recognise how stupid they are. GTA has always been able to do this. RDR tries to be genuine and everything you do outside of cutscenes is contrary to the story they try to build it's so goddam stupid. RDR2 FUCKING SUCKED

Gta 4 and 5 suffered from the same narrative issue.

The gang tried to avoid needless bloodshed. Cornwall's train did not go along the plan and armed guards / policemen do not really count similar to killing innocents who have nothing to do with the scores you want to rob. Hell, in real life you could have someone like Pablo Escobar who was extremely kind to common people and was loved because he helped the poor but he also was responsible for the murders of a ton of police officers and people who stood in his way.

It is. They aren't mentioned in RDR1 either. Because RDR2 is story made up after the first game already happened so you can add all the unimportant filler characters you want in it and never reference them again. You don't have to kill them all.

A bit off topic but am I the only one who thought Micah was an awful character? Hes cartoonishly evil, to the point where I have no idea why anyone doesn't just put a bullet in his head, or at the very least kick him out of the gang, for all the bullshit he does. I normally would be fine with someone being over the top evil but it seems really out of place in a game trying to take itself seriously, especially when we already have Dutch, who is a far more interesting villain.

Agreed, but I think he's meant to show how far gone Dutch is. At the beginning Dutch is sick of Micah's shit and almost doesn't bother sending you to rescue him except out of principle since he's part of the gang. By the end Dutch goes along with anything Micah says because he's the only one still feeding his ego. Micah isn't even really the villain, he's just the devil on Dutch's shoulder.
