It is probably because if someone picks Flames and then tries to PvP seriously, they notice that Flames always lose, so they switch to a different GC, and so the only people left on Flames are the clueless ones and freelancers who don't care about winning.

But I have noticed that because Flames tend to get lower numbers of non-freelancer queuers, they are more likely to luck into a premade than Mael/Adders. If they don't though, they always get last place.

gearing and leveling are both fairly easy (for combat classes, crafting is still a slog and probably will remain so), so you can catch up to fully geared players basically as soon as you hit max level
quests get worse before they get better so if you got turned off by the questing up to level 20 you still have like 300 mandatory quests before they get tolerable. they've said that they're probably changing how the early game works so maybe hold off until more details come out

Samurai gets an ability that's similar to one of Warrior's traits and Triplecast combined. Basically, if you cast a Midare (and ONLY a Midare, your dot and aoe iajutsu don't apply), you'll retain all three of your sen. I have ironworks on all of my classes, they don't seem to help much. just did hw quest with ysayle where we had to surrender and I died twice to random gnath things that were lvl 52.

Do to Mor Dona and get some Ironworks gear at 50, that should carry you a significant way towards 60, but you'll also get guaranteed gear drops from 51+ dungeons that should keep you relatively well equipped. Once 60, go to Idyllshire and get some Shire gear, which will carry you a significant amount of the way to 70.

ironworks stuff should be able to last you until mid 50s unless you're a tank. All the job quests are piss easy though and if nothing else maybe upgrade your weapon for a random 60 one if you need to.

Buy carbontwines (left side gear) and carboncoats (right side and belt) and bring them to Gerolt in the north shroud to augment your ironworks gear to level 130. Then it's strong enough to carry you to 60 and doesn't get outclassed until level 56 HQ gear

You could grab the brand new attire and configure it to a glamour plate to hold you over until you find some nice items. There's also a nice selection of level 1 glamours off the market board that you can use for starters.
The wait is worth it though because a lot of the items in this game look absolutely amazing. There's a reason you sometimes see the meme that glamour is the real endgame.

In order to salvage the game, they had to make most of the sub-50 armor reused assets from 1.0.

That said, there are some pretty decent looking sets in some of the dungeons if you're willing to run a few times. The 15/16/17 dungeons have a set for each role, and Brayflox's Longstop at 32 also has some nice sets for each role as well. Darkhold also has slutglam for two of the three roles, and the tank gear is okay enough. There's also the hall of the novice starting sets that reuse some of the models from the sources above.

Trivial. Having lv70 HP pools makes the fight a complete joke since there are no actual oneshot mechanics other than the adds, which would probably die in 2-3 GCDs, and Pentacles, which you can just sac and Healer LB3 after as usual.
