Tfw you 10-chained your friend because he's a Tetris shitter who only does 4-wides

I thought 4-wides were common just to stomp out Puyo players.
Either I'm wrong or your friend is a shitter.
He literally saw 4-wides being used in a tourney and decided to always use it, so I needed to put him in his place.
>trying to get friend into Puyo Puyo
>going alright, he's still a bit too slow til we're evenly matched
>mfw he says the puyo puyo theme sucks
4-wides aren't effective against puyo unless you're really fast, a puyo player can usually build a solid chain while you 4-wide. T-spins work better since they drop more nuisance.
How the fuck do I learn a setup that's not GTR
Every time a round begins I just automatically do GTR because it's burned so hard into my brain that I can't even practice anything else
just try building stairs and fuck up transition just like me
GTR is literally the best setup, the only way you can improve your puyo game is by learning holy/devil counter for perfect clear matches and incorporating chain breaks for harassment.

>puyo 20 anniversary gets a full english patch
>can't play it on my 3ds because my fucking flashcard doesn't recognise the game and trows error:-4
what a bummer
Alright fuckos how long does it take until I can constantly 10-chain?
>only 887 views
Puyo died before it even started.
b-b-b-but champions and PPT
I got 300-ish hours of puyo and I'm only just getting there. Really it depends on how efficiently you practice
How is Puyo on steam?
I have no issues with my laptop toaster while playing it but I'm not sure if Denuvo is still in it.
>learned GTR, understand how it works and how to set it up theoretically
>can't actually set it up unless the game explicitly hands me a great series of pieces to put down in sequence
If it's double red followed by double blue, then a red/blue and a red/yellow then I can do it. If it's a red/blue followed by a red/yellow, two green/blues, and then a yellow/green, I have no fucking idea what I'm doing anymore and the right side of my field (opposite the transition) is probably gonna look like a mess. I think my problem is not knowing how to build more than one single part of a chain at a time.
It's alright, playerbase is very low so you'll probably get matched against demi-gods. I'm waiting for the update introducing more practice-related modes but I wouldn't mind a singleplayer focused Puyo Puyo game coming out on PC.
Doesn't seem like it, the store page for PPC has no mention of it and I doubt they'd just forget that.
>not knowing how to build more than one single part of a chain at a time
Same here, but I'm trying to just play more and eventually get it. I should get around playing older titles too instead of just slamming my head against Endurance mode.
Is Arle in Smash yet?
What does 4 wide mean, like tetrises?
4-wide well is a tetris thing. Build your stack leaving a well 4-spaces wide (duh) with one piece sticking three squares out into the well. Then proceed to combo the fuck out of your opponent.
It's a set up that allows players to start combos by clearing one line at a time. After a certain point it becomes much more devastating than a Tetris or T-Spin Double/Triple.
Postin' Arles in a Puyo thread.
