Because there's between 0 and 2 game directors that a normie gamer could name, while a film director is actually respected and known. Also, the people working on video games see embarrassingly little of the money video games make, unlike films which treat the cast and crew at least a little better.

Red Dead 2. Not even memeing. TLoU has decent gameplay on its highest difficulties and BOTW is the only open-world game ever made that actually has good level design. Red Dead 2 has a decent story but genuinely awful gameplay in pretty much every sense. Terrible mission design, awful shooting and character movement. Its just bad.

TLOU never pretends to be more than it is (a linear cinematic TPS).
Nu-God of War is actively a step back from its previous games in terms of gameplay depth and got praised heavily by journalists, desperately trying to justify vidya as an artform, because of its Naughty Dog wannabe story.
Breath of the Wild is a good Zelda game that reinvented its formula. Maybe a little overrated from retards saying it's the game of the century and that shit, but it's still pretty good.

Are you kidding? RDR2 is a perfect game. The gameplay, details, characters and interactions are top tier. The story of Arthur is beautiful even if it ends in a sad way. And the epilogue's last mission "American Venom" is the ultimate culmination to everything in the game.

TLOU pales in comparison. At least they had Bruce Straley directing the game (one of the reasons is decent) and not the hack of Neil.
