He's right. The gameplay and the game design are at heavy odds with each other. The game requires you to carefully destroy enemies yet the large environments encourage you to explore. Too many times the game slows down to a crawl because of this disparity. The level design is often a thing of beauty but almost everything else suffers in this game. At times i wish it was not a dumb run and gun fps (something it doesn't do very well) but rather a slower rpg that gives you room to explore.

It's considered to be part of the Build trilogy (a title that should be reserved for the canceled PREY, but hey)

Blood is considered to be on par with two 9/10 games like Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior, while Blood isn't even close, so it's kind of an unearned title, Build duology would be preferable (and if you'd want it to be a trilogy so bad, Redneck Rampage should get that spot)

Fresh Supply does a lot of things wrong and it's broken in many ways. Run any other source port or even the original game via DOSBox, play for 2 minutes and you'll see how different everything is. I'm really not sure why they released it in such state

Shotgun is fun and great when you're up in the cultist's face but the tommy gun is better for short to mid range battle with them, the rapid fire keeps them stunlocked and unable to return fire. The shotgun can work at short to mid range but it's less reliable, sometimes it outright kills and other times it takes 2-3 shots.

I grew up playing Blood. It's a good game.

Blood is shit and the devs were idiots. It has amazing gunplay, possibly best of its time, but never gives you any ammo and just makes you try to melee everything to death which the levels don't generally accommodate. That is objectively bad design.

I'm waiting until the next patches to start on Episode 2
