Nintendo should be applauded for this.
Nintendo should be applauded for this
Lowkey hope PSN or hell Xbox adapts this cause it is pretty fucking cool
>mfw retards think the 99 dollars was the price for a single mario maker game
Digital only right? That's the only downer for me, except you can probably get physical games cheap enough for it to be the same price anyway, so it balances out
Why the one year limit to redeem though?
I’m gonna post this and then leave because I really don’t care about the shit opinions the (you)s might spit at me.
>No physical case to display
Worthless and pointless, don’t care how good of an idea it is.
I guess it's okay, but you need to pay for online to begin with so you're not actually saving anything.
That Best Buy program a few years ago was better.
Nintendo should drop the prices of games that are 18 months old to begin with.
Why do you need physical cases to display when no one but your mother enters your "cave"
autism
Is this UK only? I can't find any info about it for the 'murricas
Some games I prefer digital. Ones with frequent loading screens, or games that you want to always have with you, I prefer digital. For example, I got Smash digital, and plan to get digital Pokemon. Other games, like Zelda or Xenoblade, I got physical.
I am a poorfag, I frequently pawn shit to eat because living paycheck to paycheck.
Can't pawn digital, so I'll stick to paying $60 and getting a $10 amazon credit.
>NSO costs $20 a year
>vouchers are a $20 savings
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
>Digital only
Into the trash it goes
Physical is objectively superior for the Switch. I don't have to fill up its tiny internal storage with installs, and my games aren't locked to a single piece of hardware.
>living paycheck to paycheck
>buying video games ever
You're retarded. Typical poorfag.
What is this?
>most of the games are multiple years old and should have gotten a price reduction anyway
>start 7 day free trial
>purchase voucher
I think more about if I'm going to be playing it frequently such as online multiplayer games or if I'm going to play through it once and not play it again for a long time.
I might use the vouchers for Mario Maker and Animal Crossing, as they're games I'm planning to buy digitally. It's $20 saved, so why not
can you buy the mario maker bundle with the sub using a voucher?
this
No.
>spend $20 a year to use service
>buy $100 voucher for 2 games
>spend $120
>buy two $60 games outright
>spend $120
Someone’s getting cucked here.
Video games are why I haven't killed myself.
I'm a huge retard and should have checked the store. Two full priced games for $150 canadian isn't too bad, I guess.
How do I lift myself out of this hell?
>>buy two $60 games outright
>>spend $120
And you don't have online.
I pay like less than five dollars per year because of the family plan.
Faggots only make 1 purchase a year
poorfag
The fuck are these and why should I care?
well shit, thought I could buy a switch and buy the vouchers using the free trial to get smash with fighters pass and mario maker 2 with the subscription
>buying video games EVER regardless of income
I didn’t realize how stupid that shit was until I was 27. Anything more than $20 is a big no for me.
Nintendo only ever has one worthwhile game a year.
28 years old, broke up with GF, couldn't afford my own rent in this city, had to move back in with mum. We're gonna make it brah.
Because then I can sell it when I decide I've had enough fun with a game
Enjoy staying poor if you think pawn shops are remotely a good idea. I bet you got your console from a rent-to-own store too.
Only losers buy multiple new games on release. Have s-
>Switch owner
Carry on, then.
A pair of vouchers that can be use buy any 2 games for the price of $99.99. Technically a reduced price for buying two brand new games
Yet Yea Forumsfags will bitch out a new one every other week
>and my games aren't locked to a single piece of hardware.
Are you retarded? Games are linked to your account, not hardware. It's not the fucking 3DS
Acquire skills so you can get a better job
Or just metaphorically and literally in some cases suck dick
meh, seems like a rip honestly. I can still get digital games for cheap using discounted eshop gift cards, or discounted digital codes from second hand sites
The first thing I thought as well
I buy some games physical and download others, but seriously, buy a microSD.
Sounds like a shittier version of prime and gc. Shame those services don't exist anymore.
I buy eShop cards on sale anyways.
This is literally pointless.
Just do what everyone does in Eastern Europe/South America. Get a cheap PC and pirate the fuck out of everything. Shit, you can get a basic desktop with everything but a GPU from Goodwill or eBay or some shit for around $50. Then throw in an old midrange GPU like a 750ti for another $50.
Do something with what you know. Stop being a crying sack of shit, get off your ass, and DO SOMETHING. Sleep in your car if you have to, but don’t sit there and pity yourself. You are who you choose to be.
>The vouchers cost £84 over here
>The games that I would have bought with them cost £40 separately for the retail versions
Why is Nintendo over charging us for digital games?
literally this for me:
>bought switch november 2017 with BOTW, fire emblem warriors, mario odyssey
>2018, xenoblade 2, splatoon 2(fucking regret it, dont even play that shit), smash ultimate
>2019, zzzzzzzz waiting on Super Mario Maker 2 and SMT when?
i plan on getting TSA cause its a more valued price now. Don't know what else to get.
It's Prime's fault it doesn't exist anymore.
Does Xbone even have 2 exclusives to make use of both vouchers?
Or just got a raspberry pi with retropie and be the ultimate poor fag.
I paid $4 for my online, and so should you you do have friends, right? Don't tell me you actually don't have friends (even online ones) in the year 2019. How fucking pathetic.
can you buy this more than once, i'm guessing no
Sony and microsoft don't need this because their games actually go on sale.
Just buy four games and you'll turn a profit.
You DO buy at least four new games a year for your console, right?
>you need a 20 dollar online year subscription for this discount
>the discount is 20 dollars
Fucking kek
Don't sleep on Astral Chain, FE and MUA3
Why not use the voucher on one of the game bundle that cost 70+?
Gimme the quick run down.
Do you know what a profit is?
This, the vouchers only save 20 dollars assuming you use both and the games are still full price. I hope this doesn't make them remove digital sales all together
Will Astral Chain and MUA3 even be illegible? I thought these were just for first-party Nintendo games. Either way I'm gonna use it for Animal Crossing and Pokémon
>All of these fags complaining about Online costs
>Not having Twitch Prime
Has Nintendo had 4 new Switch games in a single year?
Check the site you mong they're legible.
>Still no free SNES games
When is this paperweight getting jailbroken so I can find a use for it?
Because these are only for digital purchases.
It has random shit like Fitness Boxing eligible. Astral Chain and MUA3 are both eligible
You can buy 2 vouchers for 100 dollars, these can be used to obtain games digitally, not all games will be available through this system. This is also only available for NSO subscription members.
>paying to use emoticons
>check Canadian page
>132.99
Does it have tax on it too? That might end up being more expensive than just buying two games then.
It looks like it's Nintendo published games based on your region.
stop bullying me. The only friends i have are the fleeting anonymous posts on this site.
twitter.com
>Not sure if the rule applies to the U.S. store, but Nintendo says for Japanese customers that the $99 voucher can be purchased multiple times and can keep 8 of them at a time.
maybe
Walmart has all games for $50 now for some reason. Even RAGE 2 is $50
>free
>Amazon Student is like 40 bucks a year
>Any physical vidya I want is cheaper
>Get prime video, free twitch sub and twitch prime loot
>Got a free year of NSO as a result
I get it, spending any money ever is evil reee but come on user
Is Octopath one of the voucher games?
Might pick that up if I pre-order Astral Chain.
Why are people who play games so bad with money?
Like a year ago.
Well then, guess I'll use them for Astral Chain and Daemon X Machina
>needing prime video
>can get games cheaper elsewhere anyway
>paying for emoticons
It is
Octopath is there.
Wait I'm a brainlet
So if i spent 100 dollars to buy theses i can get any two games i want?
I think it's dumb but then again I'm a physicalfag so it has no real value to me personally
Why are people assuming everything coming out in the next year is going to be eligible to redeem with these vouchers? Are we just assuming because Mario Maker is on the list or did they explicitly say ALL future titles would be on the list of redeemable titles?
Any two games published by Nintendo which is normally $60 or less.
I'm using the second one on animal crossing boy
you don't. someone's gotta be at the bottom of the totem pole, making the french fries
>any two games
No, just these
nintendo.com
most of which are decent to good mind you
I can do you one better
>prime trial
>activate free 3 months of Switch online
>requires you to reup
>pay 5.99 for month of prime because ultrapoorfag discount
>activate second part of free switch online
>cancel prime
imagine being such a consumerist faggot that you need to display containers of the things you buy and enjoy
pic related, it's you
I mean Prime Student gives you 6 months free
Astral Chains in August
I got it through Amazon but it's still not worth it.
I already used that when I was in college desu
No thanks, I'm still using my 2 cents nintendo vouchers to get everything for free.
cause the retail won't carry your wares if you don't promise not to undercut them in your own digital store
have fun with offline Mario Maker
You could spend the $100 and hack your Switch instead and get all the games you could ever want.
maybe if it was 80 dollars. NSO is still pretty bare right now and a 10 dollar discount isn't much.
why should nintendo be applauded for coming up with a pointless gimmick instead of just doing actual sales like the rest of the industry does?
Full list of compatible games on the Canadian page:
>Super Mario Maker 2

>NSMBUDX
>Hyrule Warriors
>Fire Emblem Warriors
>Yoshi's Crafted World
>Pokken DX
>Octopath Travelers
>Fitness Boxing
>Dragon Quest Builders
>Go Vacation
>TWEWY
I already stole thousands of dollars worth of 3DS and Wii U games I pirated. Don't really give a fuck about spending money on Switch games now
Because they do both just not as frequently
I'm gonna wait for E3 and get the voucher for AC (if it wasn't delayed to 2020) and MM2
>Sushit Striker: The Way of Sushido
>Dragon Quest Builders
>Go Vacation
Are those even $60 games?
It might be fine if you don't buy physical or if you buy completely new games off the store. Personally I wouldn't buy anything on the store that wasn't 20 bucks or less brand new, or I'd wait for the sales. It might be good to use with game+DLC packs, which usually have heftier prices, but I doubt the voucher applies for that.
no no no...
the fact that you can just steal things is always an option, no point in bringing it up every time people talk about getting a good deal on something nigger
Im worried they are timing this voucher thing so that there wont be any good games for a year after mario maker comes out, forcing people to buy old games or have it expired. ill need to know both games release dates before I commit
Nope, $50.
some fags on reddit already bought 6
All of them are 50 dollars for reasons I can't fathom.
Every single game on there except Mario Maker 2 should have been $30 by now.
No, you pay $99 and then can download 2 full-price games. If you get 2 $60 games then you save $20.
Well, there's Astral Chain and FE Three Houses if that's your thing
DQB is 50, same as Bayonetta
The other 2 have have no listed price so they're probably pretty cheap, don't know why they're part of the list at all
>I'm going to leave because I cant offer any arguement
I'm a 30 year old boomer and prefer physical but I'm not a gigantic autistic faggot to the point where I rage at the thought of digital.
I got a physical copy of DQB for 15€ I think.
Don't they have at least six other games releasing after Mario Maker 2 this year? More if you count games they're just publishing.
>I don't have to fill up its tiny internal storage with installs
That's why I have a 512GB SD card
>my games aren't locked to a single piece of hardware.
Neither are mine, because they're tied to my Nintendo account and can be re-downloaded on any Switch if I log into it.
>2 games for $50 each
>requires you to be in a paid membership
>consolecucks call this a "deal"
the absolute state of this board
Xbox gives you the game on PC too, not really comparable but they have some value
Really made me realize how many garbage games are on the Switch, touted as "system sellers".
Animal Crossing and Pokémon are coming out this year, girl gamers and normies are going to gobble these vouchers up.
>I don't buy games to play them, I buy them to show off the cases on my shelf
>if I can't show people that I spent money on something, what's the point?
PS4 version of Dragon quest buliders is like 15 bucks now but for switch is 60 dollars. KEK
t. Works at a grocery store
If you make even remotely decent money (and I'm going as low as 30k) then $60 for a game here and there isnt that big of a deal.
that guy looks well off honestly and much less depressed. Maybe I should be more of a consumerist.
nintendo tax :)
>spend $20 for online
>$100 for vouchers
>to save $00.00 on $120 worth of games
Absolutely amazing
It is really fucking stupid.
>Switch to cartridges that people wanted
>Start pushing digital hard
Why?
Just pirate games so you can buy food moron. Look after your living conditions until you have enough spare to buy games.
>pay 20 for online
>pay 100 for voucher
>buy two full priced games
>save nothing
>buy cheaper games
>actually lose money
It's a deal alright!
They probably don't want you to hoard them for when they decide to release a decent game two years from now
why is Nintendo so greedy?
your point?
who cares about shitty 2d mario
>Fire Emblem
>Luigi's Mansion
>Pokemon
>Link's Awakening
>Animal Crossing
And that's just the first-party offerings
I think most people will be able to find at least one thing they think is worth getting with 10 dollar discount on that list, or even two if they don't happen to want Mario Maker.
If you shop around maybe you save money nigger
Dragon Quest Builders - PlayStation 4 amazon.com
At least it's not censored :^)
BTFO
wait a minute - why is the vita version cheaper than the ps4 version? switchfags told me that portability was a feature you pay extra for.
>BUY DIGITAL
>WHO BUYS PHYSICAL ANYMORE THERE'S NO ADVANTAGE
I actually got Nintendo Switch Online for free through Twitch Prime, which I got free for Amazon Prime, which pays for itself with all the money I save on free shipping for things I would have been buying anyway.
But anyway, if you were already going to pay for the online service (like to play games online) then it's not actually cutting into your savings.
It's really not that stupid. Most of the games available for the voucher are Nintendo published that rarely go on sale (they did not even list Mario Rabbids, which is the Nintendo funded game that has gone on 50% sales), and most of them are not even in the 60$/euro pricing, so you are just selling a risible price drop on rather old games (that you could get for cheaper prices on second hand physical) to look like a bargain.
I just like having the cartridge. Feels like I actually own the game.
Because it runs much worse.
If you want to use the online for switch then you have to pay the 20 anyways.
If you buy the vouchers you should only use them on $60 games, you would have to be retarded to not realize that.
It's not an amazing deal but it's something.
I tasted mine
Big mistake desu
>been out for about 2.5 years
>SE still can't get rid of their stock and keeps sending it to Amazon
I don't blame them for dropping the price.
Well, judging from the games they have available, theoretically you would want Switch online anyway.
I make 50k a year. Buying a new game once in a while isn’t a big deal. I bought Anno 1800, DMC5, and RE 2 on release. These posters claiming that you’re poor if you don’t pay for several $60 games per year is pure idiocy.
It’s literally nothing with a Nintendo logo slapped on it.
>comparing the amazon price to the nintendo store instead of the sony store
>hasn't been out long enough for nintendo for prices to drop much on amazon by buying second-hand
shitty argument, biased user.
All the games for the voucher are Nintendo published in the region they're applicable for. Mario Rabbids was published by Ubisoft.
Is also came out alot more recently for Switch.
every game looks and runs like shit on the switch too, but dq builders still costs $50 there. what gives?
The Voucher only works for Certain titles, most likely Nintendo Made titles. It's a deal because you save 10 dollars for each game. But because Physical is better, Imma skip this deal (for now). This is a good offer for Mario Maker and Splatooon 2 that heavily depend on multiplayer,
Mario Maker 1 was hot garbage. "Let the community design the game LAWL" and then ride a cart until the end of the level and don't move, or else it's a KAizo level where you don't even use intended mechanics to beat the stage. The fact Switch owners are hyped for Mario Maker 2 unironically shows how desperate they are for anything, ANYTHING to play on your xbox 360 in tablet form. Fuck me.
This reminds me that my GCU membership at Best Buy is almost expired. I'm gonna miss that.
I’ve never seen a fan base more willing to gobble dick than the Nintendo fan base. Steam is a close second, followed by Sony, but god DAMN Nintendo fans love corporate dick.
Game Cube University? Love that shit. I use my Wii to play GC games now.
Don't forget to check your email when it expires. They send you a coupon for 25% off a game.
>why is the greatest game ever made $59.99?
Mario Maker 2 has a story mode with 100+ levels designed by Nintendo, so you can get your money's worth without even playing user created content. But also, a lot of people enjoy those unintended kaizo-style mechanics and there's nothing wrong with that.
DKC2 is not that expensive
What's the point of buying digital? Buy game used for 40 bucks, play it, sell it when you finished it for 40 bucks. Or heck, you can even resell it two years later, it will still be 40 bucks. Playing on Nintendo console is basically free with how games retain their value.
>botw
>greatest anything
hello zoomer child.
Portal didn't even cost that much when it first came out.
Maybe some people don't want to sell their games when they beat them? Not all of us are teenagers and college students scraping by on allowance from mom and dad, and some of us enjoy maintaining a collection of games with no intention of selling them. Digital is just the most convenient method to have those games.
You don't have to sell them if you don't want to. Paying a premium for digital when you can get physical for less is idiotic.
I'm paying a premium for the convenience of not having to keep track of a dozen stupid little cartridges. I bought BotW physical with my Switch on launch day and it has not left the cartridge slot since that day, all my other games are digital and the ability to just swap from game to game as I please without switching around carts is worth it to me.
Captain shill. Hello pothole filler
>premium for the convenience
Then why are digital games cheaper than physical on other platforms 90% of the time? You’re literally saying that it’s ok when Nintendo does it.
but kirby super star ultra was $30 at launch, user.
Then collection addicts should stop complaining about game prices. Stamp collectors don't bitch about stamps prices, they just go with it. Besides, that's a moot point if games keep their prices.
>Buy game for xx bucks
>Value of said-game is still xx bucks even years later because they retain their value
For collector, this is actually the best outcome.
>Digital is just the most convenient method to have those games.
It indeed is. In ISO form, on an emulator. Still playable when the hardware is long dead and the Nintendo servers got shut down.
>Then why are digital games cheaper than physical on other platforms 90% of the time?
They're not, though. PS4 and Xbox One digital games almost never go on sale or get their prices discounted. But why does that even matter? We're talking about physical vs digital on Switch.
Owning physical things makes it an asset.
You can sell/trade with that item.
step one is to get off Yea Forums
>Buy an old game
>gets rereleased 10 years later
>Value drops by %50
Collecting video games is a dumb ass “hobby”.
>Bro just get up and do something
What about a realistic advice
is there even a list of what games you can redeem this on?
Get up and do something is realistic. Figure out what you WANT to do, make a plan for getting it, and fucking do it regardless of the struggle. You faggots are weak.
Yes, there is a comprehensive list on the eShop page.
>have PS+
>$60 a year
> 2 free games a month
or
>Have NSO
>$20 a year
>$20 off a pair of games you might not have gotten anyway
Why would you want the latter?
Just terrible. Just fucking terrible.
learn a trade skill and or how not to waste money.
>Physical video games are assets
>Modern physical games are assets
>Buying physical games as an investment strategy
Fucking yikes, rabbi
Free psn games usually suck. Pretty sure I've only time that I ever came out "ahead" was with Furi.
>spend $20 for the chance to save $20!
