How did they discuss 9/11 in your history classes/
chirp
The greatest tragedy in human history. We had to salute the flag as our teacher recounted the event and told us to never betray the government.
aside from being taught about what occured, we watched a 1 or 2 hour compilation of news broadcasts and camera footage
Well I'm European (first post) and let's just say it's never been a subject thus far.
Now obviously the majority of people know what it is, but the majority also doesn't know about the consequences.
We're also pretty unemotional to it. Most people adopt the stance of "Yeah it was terrible but they had it coming."
Look at that birb.
Do they speak about the local terrorist attacks in your country or in eu? Like that dude running over all those bongs?
Damn. I was in 4th grade at the time and kids were getting pulled out of class via intercom. By the end of the day about half the class was gone and I didn't know why. When my mother picked me up she told me what happened and I listened to the news on the radio while she went to donate blood.
They didn't. The only time it was mentioned was the anniversary of the event.
what the fuck?
Honestly, it's sometimes mentioned and the news still remind you of major attacks on the days they happened but overall it's gotten toned down largely.
>that dude running over those bongs
was this the attack from like 2016 with the arab phone girl thing?
What?
Bowser's Inside Story probably isn't my favorite but it's always what comes to mind first. I wanna make an RPG like the Mario and Luigi games, one day
I also really love Skullgirls, Guilty Gear, and Under Night: In Birth. Kind of want to make a fighting game, one day, as well.
Kind of a pipe dream, though.
Teachers just recount where they were on the day of and lament that we aren't old enough to remember. It's pretty somber, but it fills you with this big fat sense of perspective
I remember we had an american student one year and she insisted on making a presentation about 9/11 and or teachers said we didn't have time and she cried.
Fucking hell why cnat they get over it?
Is 9/11 consodered such a big thing in the US to this day?
That's a weird looking hot dog.

Yet millions of american teenagers are acting like it happened last month.

dunno why everyone's listing several games since op said favorite game (singular) but whatever:
team fortress 2
max payne
lisa the painful (joyful was meh)
psychonauts
crosscode
caveblazers
max payne 3
dark souls 3
hollow knight
isaac rebirth (original is nice too but rebirth has so much more content)
honorable mentions go to superhot, grim fandango, portal 2, lethal league or at least the several matches i played against my friend where i beat his ass and he never played again, genital jousting and civ 5
i realize this list might look pretty shitty, but despite playing games since i was a kid i only really got into vidya in the last couple of years so this list could change tremendously in the next year or 2
depends on how quickly i'll finish my backlog i guess
same
>Damn. I was in 4th grade at the time and kids were getting pulled out of class via intercom.
I was in 5th grade and that happened to me. I think I was one of the only ones who got called though because my dad was an airline pilot and we live on the East Coast.

It is and it isn't. We make jokes and memes about it because that's just who we are. However, I've gotten more bitter about it as I've gotten older. 9/11 was the spark that had us double down into two decades of disastrous and futile foreign policy and brought on a ton of losses in freedom and personal privacy. In 2000, the future looked bright. In 2002, it didn't.

I'm 7 years old and I can assure you that my opinions are likely more articulate and on topic than anything you've ever contributed to this terrible board. I was born in a flesh prison ready to die, knowing of the brutal nature of this world and prepared myself to face it with iron fist and will. Are you prepared user?
fuck off diavolo
>Yeah it was terrible but they had it coming
I was in 10th grade, and we had a regular day at school, except none of the teachers wanted to teach and we just listened to the news on the radio or TV. Surprised we didn't get sent home, considering I grew up in San Diego, where there are several military bases.
Are you prepared to enjoy your vacation?
because all the shit that happened today would never had happen if 9/11 didn't happen.
>However, I've gotten more bitter about it as I've gotten older.
i'm the opposite but i was born 92. i remember believing it was just an accident, probably because i didnt know any better.
my mother was one of the nurses that volunteered for duty at ground zero. never really talked about it much. i knew a guy that worked with futures at the commodities exchange near wall st. and went to help in the hours after. he has ptsd from the body parts and smell. moreover, he's the angriest i've ever seen anyone feel about freedom tower. and i used to be pretty angry

going straight into manufacturing, just got my application today. Hopefully with room to grow into CAD job but i doubt ill get that lucky.
I'm 26 but I remember when I was in 4th grade the teacher announced 9/11 had just happened with
>I've just received terrible news class. There's been a bombing on the twin towers
and the kid behind me loudly shouted
>COOL!
Like it was the best thing he'd ever heard
I still find it funny
Even an illiterate drooling chimpanzee could evade an ip ban. Your time is done, old man.
Go watch Charlie Wilson's War for a preschool understanding of why 9/11 is a direct result of american interests in the middle east during the cold war. Tom Hanks can explain better than anyone in this thread.
It is entirely possible that she lost a close family member in 9/11.
I'm planning on trying to make friends through cosplaying at conventions. I am going to be cosplaying big boss in the rainbow camo from MGS3 subtle gay pride for bonus points with edgy art girls at conventions
Unironically go outside. You might think you know the world from the comfort of your room browsing Yea Forums, but it's far more rewarding actually doing shit with your teen years.
honestly i have never talked to a single person in real life below the age of like 40 that doesn't think that 9/11 was an inside job

Noone gives a shit anymore
They typically avoid these topics because you have to study some really complicated history to understand the involvement of France-GB in creating the conditions which have agitated the Islamic world.
I mean how do you teach the deals made during WW1, then Sykes-picot, then WW2 and post-war immediate history and then Cold War in any credible way while trying to teach other subjects? it's not tenable for school level.
If you were old enough to remember any details, the coverage of the whole thing was pretty terrifying. A plane ramming into a building, people in the building leaping to their deaths to escape the fire, people out in the middle east bragging about it like it was some great thing to happen. In the memorial there's news footage they broadcast of a woman in a skirt holding the skirt down before she leaped to her death - she tried to retain her modesty in a time like that.
It was all televised, live. Tons of people were watching when the second plane hit. All things considered, yeah man, it was a pretty impactful thing.
I've unironically been browsing this site since I was an edgy middle school fag. I feel like this website raised me by reading things about what NOT to do, to be completely honest.
This might sound ironic but attached picture honestly made me rethink how much of a beta I was cause I saw myself in it and i figured myself out and now i have alot more confidence and I'm more outgoing.
Even if it's for a dumb film you've got to go to the theater at least once with a group of friends. Even if the film's shit you'll have a good time in good company
I used to think it was an inside Job because of building 7, now that someone showed to me why it collapsed, well, I still do, I just don't have many socially acceptable arguments anymore.

good to hear you made the change user. This site's a shithole but it always makes me happy hearing anons grow to have a better life.
To put some extra context to this, when I was studying politics at A-level (17-18 for burgers) the exam board set a question on Ireland and the troubles/Good Friday agreement. My politics teacher just said "this is too complex to teach while having time to teach the other subjects. You can choose to learn it on your own, but I won't be covering it" and that's just Irish terrorism.
I went to see that on monday with a group of friends, you're in for a fun time mate. Hope you enjoy it

Too young to notice the broken promises, I mean I didn't care about their retarded DRM policy (you could only install the game on 3 different PCs withthe disc).
The game was actually incredibly fun. At least younger me thought so and younger me was better so I trust his judgement.
Don't go to college (go to a trade or technic school), don't get married before 30 (or ever, love doesn't need a signature), DEFINITELY don't have kids before 30, focus on your career, and above all else respect the wisdom of those who have lived before you, but remember that wisdom is more of a suggestion, not a rule. Never give up, never surrender and if it gets too hard, don't forget you've got a whole lifetime to get it right and you're the shit, so it'll work out eventually as long as you keep moving forward. Good luck, little user. I believe in you.

It's easier to teach blind obedience to Israel and Iran is the greatest state sponsor of terrorism.
Then you're not teaching, you're just giving propaganda. And this isn't clapistan where Israel is our greatest ally.
Well, thankfully enough of us jaded older folks were pissed about Spore because for a little while there, that was going to be something they did for a lot of games. Spore was just the biggest title to try it, and then be not what they advertised on top of that.
Man. Was that back when EA had only just gotten started on its bad reputation? I know there was a period where people trusted them.
Anyway, now we just don't own things at all anymore. It's... better than what Spore did? Less intrusive, anyway.
>Don't go to college (go to a trade or technic school)
don't listen to this worst meme on Yea Forums
It was the illusion shattering. It was the pivot that sent their entire culture, and my entire shitty Canadian reflection of their culture, into the depression we're looking at now. I can't be the only one who feels this overwhelming theme of depression and loss, particularly now when Game of Thrones is somehow our cultural fucking phenomenon. This weird old man's torture/incest porn that kinky fucks at HBO decided to take for a spin.
The blockbuster movie for all the literal children this year involves decapitating the villain in the first 15 minutes and then spiraling into 5 years of depression before picking themselves up and getting their asses kicked until enough of them are maimed/killed to win.
Shit's gotten dark around here, and I can't see the light at the end yet.
Thank you for all the advice guys. I don't really have anyone in my life to tell me these sorts of things so I really appreciate it. If there is nothing else going on for you today at least know you genuinely helped me out.
It should be obvious that I mean in regards to same level training. If you want to be a doctor or astrophysicist or some shit, obviously college is the only option.

I mean the college thing is tough now. Keeps getting more expensive, but the job market can still be really stiff in a lot of sectors. College is good if you can land a high paying job afterward, but if you get a journalism degree or something then you've kissed a good $50k goodbye for no real reason.
i had a conversation at work today about daddy bush. it made me realize how its not even difficult to talk to people about it. its hilarious
>so uh whats george bush senior's presidency known for?
going to war with iraq, kicking saddam's ass, using taxpayer money for ridiculous shock and awe tactics
>No, i'm asking about the first bush, his dad
that's what his dad is known for. bush junior was round 2

depends on the country I'd say. going to college (University) in the UK has been the best decision in my life thanks to the people I've met.

Merely remember this, user. Time is passing. I know, I really fucking know, that you hear shit like this all the time, but you really are at a time when you can do WHATEVER THE FUCK you want to do. Spend that time doing shit you're going to remember. The most important lesson to learn about this site is that absolutely nothing you type in this little blue box will ever be as valuable as sharing what you're thinking with someone in real life.
Find people who share your interests in your workspace, your college/university/training, or whatever space you end up occupying, and share your opinions and insight with them instead. It's wasted here.
>actually thinking I'm 7 years old with a post containing vocabulary of such nuance,
ban evaded, shitter. I'm here forever. You're clearly a moron who's highly delusional to their perception of the world. Have fun with that, loser.
9/11 didn't cause the recession. The recession was caused by a change in regulatory atmosphere, which arguably began in the Clinton years but some people want to blame Reagan too.
They started using a lot of financial instruments that were too difficult to understand. In the old era of regulation that would have been suspected as attempting fraud, but today it's viewed as experts being experts, and they didn't try to crack down on it.
I mean... it's just how things are now. Boeing can check their own planes, investing and savings banks are the same thing, mergers are sacrosanct. 9/11 and the following conflicts drove up the deficit, but it isn't the reason for our current financial woes because the deficit problem hasn't come home to roost yet.
Holy shit, I agree, is it me or do you feel like you feel more from pain now?
there is light, user, and it's all around you. the veil only covers what you allow it to cover. and the gatekeepers are very very skilled at weaving veils. just remember that veils don't work very well at creating darkness when the light source is underneath

I am sure those suggestions applies to americans. Other countries have different education systems.
But if you do go to college, have a plan from year 1. Career you want to follow, companies, junior enterprises, etc.
You still had to log in to play spore too, it's not like the disc kept track lel.
So they still probably would've fucked you over if they had to on that plane.
I think that in a sense, it's only logical that developers fully converge to games as a service tied to a certain platform concept.
Like, they're promised revenue independant of sales, it's better for long term support, reduces piracy.
I find it sad but sadly the normie way is everyone's way.
I don't mean economic depression, I mean the descent all artforms took into grit and realism, the final destruction of the idea of the middle east as some magical foreign land of lost wealth and adventure and instead as the scapegoat of all that was to follow.
I mean emotional depression, and the beginning of the mass burnout that seems to be spreading through my generation
i figured out what Yea Forums was from ifunny when i was in middle school. 18 now. I think that the internet is desensitizing my generation and its a lot harder to have genuine relationships with people. I used "Old Internet" but not enough to be familiar with it.
I was looking for a place to discuss anime
They're likely not. Most people here are shitposters.
under no circumstances go to college because its what you're supposed to do and you'll just figure it out later because that is exactly what the propaganda machine wants you to do to chew you up and spit you back out
if you have a game plan from day one, that you don't deviate from, it won't happen to you. if you listen to the school advisors and the worthless professors that haven't been ignoring HR propaganda, you will have a very bad time
Oh. No, all the emotional burn out and shit was probably because of the recession. I remember that's when they started laying off all the employees and cutting benefits, but they increased our work load anyway.
Yep. After that it got pretty hard to be a happy working man if you weren't in the right place. Every family needs to hold between two and four jobs to make ends meet. People say it's lucky if you can watch your own kids grow up.
Turned 18 last month, and bloodborne.
But I know some of you will see that ad a cop out answer, so my second favorite is prolly dishonored
I watch a slideshow of photos of people jumping off the tower with “in the end” playing in the background. Is it accurate?
I kept hearing of this site from people off steam and started frequenting when I was 16. as far as I remember the old internet was just youtube and shitty-quality anime upload sites. I remember a time where I le internet medley to be the greatest thing on the net. what a fucking time
It's a fascinating development, modern DRM.
Every three years, human rights groups have to lobby the government to make it legal to repair cars and tractors as a third party, did you know? Because vehicles have software in them now, and you use the software on a license. To fix a car, you must interact with the software, and to do so in a way the manufacturer did not consent to is a civil crime without those triennial exemptions.
i think it has more to do with people getting their social interaction from their smartphones rather than the people around them. it's not making people desensitized, they're becoming over-sensitized and over-saturated
interpersonal interaction is competing with a tech corporation trying to get you to use their product as often as possible that sends little dopamine pellets regularly to distract you

Every 9/11 was basically like a holiday nothing to do all day in school and watch videos on how it happen. It stop in middle school thought and my history classes never really discuss 9/11 in detail. They are just like it happen and thats it.
It's not people using smartphone to talk. It's that the medium through which we communicate is controlled by roughly four major corporations, and all those corporations care about is "engagement".
If you post about something happy, like a lovely dinner you made yourself, that's a low "engagement" post and Facebook or Google won't show that to people. But if you say something controversial, they'll share with everyone because everyone will engage with you.
It's bred an atmosphere of negativity and non-cooperation, and was an important part of the Russian disinformation campaign in 2016. But social media don't care. Social media gotta get that ad revenue, society may implode.

I don't remember 9/11 and was so fucking oblivious early in life I didn't even understand what it was until I was like 13.

decentralized services are superior but people don't want to use them because of the illusion of the herd, which the gatekeepers are able to control. in cases like twitter and reddit any pretense of the original purpose of the platform has been shed and they are now pure propaganda with hostile user design that openly hides your posts and yet people still use them like nothing changed
my earliest memory of the net was finding a shoddy rom sites to download VBA and Pokemon Emerald. I think I was like 7
School's treatments of national tragedies are odd.
My history teacher for lessee.. 7th grade thought it was a good idea to simulate a school shooting for our classroom on the anniversary of columbine.
It's kind of amazing that there's someone I somewhat relate to in taste that is 9 years younger than me. There is hope left for Man.
95 and not from burgeristan I remember trying to watch my cartoons but not being able to change channels for some reason while it showed images about the towers collapsing
It's not a scheme to make you buy more cars. That was "cash for clunkers" was - an attempt to bail out car manufacturers and drive up the cost of used cars. A successful initiative, I might add. My first car was $3,000 and had nothing wrong with it. Post recession, that car would be missing its engine at that price!
The vehicle DRM situation is to let car manufacturers have a monopoly on car parts and car repairs. If the exception lapses at any time, any garage using third party parts or making repairs to vehicles without some sort of license with the company could face legal penalties.
The people it hurt most until the exemption was passed was farmers. Any time a tractor broke down, they had to wait for a guy from John Deer to come out and do a routine fix the farmer could have done by himself, and then John Deer charged the farmer for it in spite of having already wasted days of the farmer's valuable time.
Honestly, I'm impressed you put Talos Principle on there. Respect.

Kids today being born after 9-11 is the one thing that'll fuck me up agewise. I don't get plussed with them having new interests, new media, new shows or games. But realizing they lived in an era entirely post 9-11 is weird. I'm sure it is how gen xers and boomers and early millennials felt about being born after the cold war.
I don't mean it maliciously but the same sentiment of "yeah it was terrible but they had it coming" will and has been applied to when Europeans experience Islamic terrorism and migrant raping. Probably the biggest way they were asking for it is not the boogeyman of colonialism but rather because their governments for the longest time were permissive, even sympathetic, to Islamists and radicals. Despite the complaints of Muslim governments opposed to said Islamists let alone the Juden in Israel and the US. Everyone, the US included, has this pathological fixation of playing with fire.
I don't think most people believe it was an inside job as it wasn't. It's just blindingly obvious how it was the perfect example of that ethos coined by Rahm Emmanuel "Never let a good crisis go to waste". It was masterfully co-opted and utilized to further a myriad of agendas and interests.
What a coincidence everybody is 18.
if the state you live in isn't complete garbage, if you have the minimum state mandated insurance coverage in a secure deposit you don't need to have insurance. its not even 40 grand in my state

How exactly have you managed to save $40k by the age of 18? Not all of us have trust funds or lawyers on retainer, user.
you oldfags are alright sometimes, sorry for being a little shit
> implying that a heavily amount of people are underage.
It infuriated me to realize how much of a racket is going on with cars. I got into a fender bender recently. My car's front fender was fucked and the hood's hook bent. I could easily have gotten it repaired for maybe 1-2k. My car's worth was estimated at 6k, and the insurance company decided it was a total so I could get either 5k and keep my car or 6k and give it to them to sell for scrap.
But if I kept my car I would have to jump through all these ridiculous hoops where I HAD to go to a state (Delaware) sponsored/owned car repair shop and work with the police because otherwise my car would be considered a stolen vehicle or some ridiculous horseshit about stolen parts. It was a racket designed to make me have to take it to a state-sponsored shop that would charge me out the ass to repair it. So I had to take the 6k and give away a car I had since 2007 with just 57k miles with pretty much just cosmetic damage which I am sure I could have gotten repaired for maybe 2k at most.
You will 100% see a similar "Cash for Clunkers" Program with an eye towards environmentalism in the future. Probably 20 or so years when electric cars are much cheaper and common. It'll be designed to buy off lots of gas cars for the same reason.

Very good taste user. Have this reaction image for your trouble.
i used reddit for some time, mainly for the meme subreddits
it was a nice way to pass the time, i found that stuff funny once upon a time too
i knew about Yea Forums for a long time but obviously since i was on reddit so much i saw it as some kind of memers' club or something, i only started using it once the humor on reddit was starting to get stale for me, it's like i grew up or something
i kept using this site because of how genuine people seem to be here, even with all the shitposters. it was a breath of fresh air to see people talking here like normal people after being used to ironic meme comments on reddit and the edgy "haha i wanna die" humor associated with them
i guess it's also because i don't talk to people that much in real life so being able to discuss things here is nice
i can't remember much about the old internet but what i do remember is rage comics, newgrounds and image macros being posted everywhere, although that's probably a bit more recent
i don't know what to think of today's internet, it's handy to know exactly where to go to see content, like knowing youtube is for videos and twitter to virtue signal or whatever, but each of these places has its own culture and if the internet will keep being so centralized eventually nothing will feel unique on the internet anymore

It went by so fast. I swear I was 18 yesterday. Where does the time go. . .
Yup I went on holiday recently and did some strenuous activities that really made me sore for the next 3 days or so. I'm really out of shape so my advice would be to work out more and get into a routine of enjoying it. Something that I will never do personally.
>I don't think most people believe it was an inside job as it wasn't. It's just blindingly obvious how it was the perfect example of that ethos coined by Rahm Emmanuel "Never let a good crisis go to waste". It was masterfully co-opted and utilized to further a myriad of agendas and interests.
i used to just say this as well but that's just a lame on-the-fence excuse to explain away all of the hilariously convenient coincidences and alignments without getting into the nitty gritty and fully committing to saying it was an inside job. occams razor.
almost a full decade of the perfectly wrong thing happening at the wrong time with a clear perpetrator and motive, with clear financial gain afterwards. if they were only complicit in aiding it, how much harder would have been for them to have just done it in the first place?

Born in 99' but I've only had maybe one or two teachers that made a deal out of 9/11.
I have a few older friends who kinda remember where they were when it happened.
My mom and dad have never really made a big deal out of it.
Also when I was like 7 or 8 my uncle showed me a documentary about how 9/11 was an inside job, ironically that was the most in-depth exposure to 9/11 I would have until high school.
I always hear oldfags talk about how different the US was before 9/11, I can't remember much so I can't say.

Cool Maths Games was around when I was in high school (2008-2024) and probably earlier, it wasn’t actually good, it was legit shit educational math games, but also had some actually fun games stolen from other sites (Bloons tower defense series being most popular).
People have nostalgia for it because schools wouldn’t block it on the internet, because it was “educational”, so we’d spend any class in a computer lab playing Bloons TD.

I came back in highschool in 2014 because of the fappening and GG (sorry) I lurked though and ended up abandoning that whole movement.
>What are your thoughts about the internet today?
Modern internet is handy, but it has a lot of faults.
One thing I've been realizing lately is that social media was way more dangerous than we thought it was.
Back in 2013 they were starting to talk about the dangers of cyberbulling and teen suicides, but now it's even worse.
>Did you get to use the "old" internet, before everything was centralized like today?
I'm 20 now born in 1999 so Yea Forums wasn't the first forum I used.
Back when I was like 7 or 8 I used to browse transformers and lego forums.
Used old youtube back around when smosh was getting popular.
I would also look at gamefaqs and gamespot when I needed a walkthrough.
I had a decent grasp of the old internet, but I wasn't old enough to become too involved online.
I did like it though, I think Yea Forums kinda reminds me of it in some ways, but even that's changed.
My biggest regret was never being able to take part in early MMORPG games, nowadays multiplayer is just PvP combat, I would've liked to experience the in-game online community aspect of it.

Never has a game appealed to me in so many ways, with a prologue that captured the dieselpunk WW2 aesthetic I never knew I needed, or the ridiculous, yet somehow believable story and world, or the stealth sections I actually enjoyed, or the satisfying weapons and alt-fires, with the smooth controls to switch between all weapons.

every time i come back to this board there's always one of these threads of manchildren making unoriginal reddit-tier posts with an image about how they just realised time passes. if this is a realisation to you, you need to develop some self-awareness. you are not distant from people born 10 years after than you.

Yeah but complaining about people being born after you, or X year like 2000 is retarded. People will be being born in 2020 soon. It's a fact of life. I just watched a video of Donald Trump, who is in his seventies, talk to some hundred+ year old war veterans. He said laughing he hopes to be like them some day. He was the young man in that room. Gave some perspective.

It's not complaining it's just an unfamiliar feeling. We all know we're going to be 60 one day but discussing that now is a whole lot different to actually reaching that age and experiencing the reality of aching bones and withered looks. You can be aware of your full blown death but being on that death bed isn't something we're going to be prepared for after a lifetime of "I'll be ready to die later".
It's the difference between knowledge and wisdom.
i was merely pretending
GOD DAMN IT
18 years old since last year, born during 2000. My parents and grandparents got me started on computers and electronics super early so I think I got to experience a lot of shit a bit earlier than I probably would've normally.
My favorite games:
Deus Ex
Victoria 2 and Hearts of Iron III
Simcity 4
Virtual Sailor
Grand Theft Auto III was my first and still probably one of my favorites, but I also hold San Andreas and IV up to a pretty high regard.
Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
Men of War (original one, Assault Squad is ok but I've always appreciated the small features that were left in the OG one. Assault Squad 2 is way too arcade-y and interlinked with online shit like stats/levels for me to appreciate it as much)
Sleeping Dogs
Hotline Miami 1 and 2
Mirror's Edge
Mount & Blade: Warband
Hitman: Blood Money
Garry's Mod
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit II and Most Wanted (2005)
Burnout III
World in Conflict (+Soviet Assault expansion)
Tropico 4
Rise of Nations
Those aren't all of the games that I like/love, but they're definitely some of the ones that I have fond memories or never get tired of. Honorable mentions include The Sims 2, I haven't played it in ages so I'm not sure if it'd still hold up to me now, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, liked flying and fucking around in it but never got too hooked.
9/11 has always been sorta skimmed over when I was going to school, except in history class when it was actually the day September 11th, which I would say is when it's actually fitting. Never got any of the fun dramatic shit a lot of other people replied with, though. It was usually a decent movie or two that we watched through the week at most.
The '95 Oklahoma City bombing usually overshadows 9/11 here, probably because 9/11 overshadowed the OKC bombing in the rest of the nation. Otherwise, not a lot of people here make 9/11 that big of a deal anymore.
metal isn't rigid and then BOOM melt. It's a gradual process.

Get the fuck off my board zoomer scum
I don't think I heard about it until years later (Australia)
It feels weird that now we have Zoomers born in 2000-01 who can post here and are the majority of the site.
They have literally NEVER known a world before 2006-07 or before Web 2.0, and completely missed out on 95% of the Millennial kid culture, like rushing home for prime Toonami around 98-03. Instead they're nostalgic for "downfall into shit era" things like iCarly, Justin Bieber, Johnny test, and Minecraft, completely blissfully unaware that they missed EVERYTHING good and by the time they were 6-7 everything culturally was becoming the downfall era of shit stuck in a rotten toilet.
>it's just an unfamiliar feeling
It's really not. It is done by people at the earliest ages, as shown in this thread. I'd be surprised if people only just started doing this in their twenties and not when they were kids looking at the younger kids popping up and taking their place they were in years ago. It's funny, my school year group when we were 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, etc. would look down and joke about the year group below us being pleb kids. Despite the fact that we were always a year younger hardly any time ago (like that image shows, it's mainly before the age of 7 where a year actually seems like a huge portion of your life). Like you say, people are doing right now in their twenties when they'll teaming up with their Zoomer friends when it's 2050. In the course of history, you'll all be part of the same century.

What do zoomers look for in video games, like what desirable qualities do you find in allegedly good video games? Alternatively, what are some bad qualities you don't like?
I still remember just yesterday we were laughing at 2000s babbies because games were being dumbed down and casualized at the time and you lot would grow up and look back fondly in that shit era, yet here we are.
And honestly games have been so horrific this gen, I don't think the kids of tomorrow will remember anything but Fortnite and BOTW.

I look for good artstyles, gore/dismemberment systems and attention to detail. You really know you're playing a game made with passion when everything is autistically detailed like in Half Life when the roaches get spooked by the lights or in FEAR when the lamps are swinging around and the room goes dark for a second

Just because I missed something when it first dropped doesn't stop me from going back and playing it, I've played most of the older games that still get talked about here.

Persona 3 FES

>understand the involvement of France-GB in creating the conditions which have agitated the Islamic world.
Are you telling me Eurotard schools victim-blame their own countries for terrorist attacks
The Islamic world has always been agitated.
People in the Middle East have been killing each other over which god is cooler for a million billion years, and somehow it's France's fault their behavior didn't change when they crossed the border?
God, it feels surreal to use this place without secretly breaking rule 2.
I thought I'd just get bored and leave after a few weeks or so. Why am I still here? What the hell happened to me?
>they're just idealized later on
Not the boomers. They must have really been shit.
bretty good
There are fucking reasons for that
even though we all hate this website, with good reason, there really is no better substitute
reddit is full of too-good-for-this-world baby men, gamefaqs is a literal shithole, resetera is a libcuck wasteland, neogaf is vomit in the form of a website, i could go on and on
this site is full of dumb shitheads but its the only place that we belong
Haha got another one lads
He doesn't even know how fucked he is
I still liked knight, just not as much as the others.
The batmobile parts where just becoming a boring slog by the end, FEAR takedowns completely trivialised predator fights, and The challenge modes weren't as good as in City.
>you never leave Yea Forums meme
I know I'm here but I don't regular this shithole, especially not this board. You can leave. If you want to.

I like a lot of games that are just focused, air-tight experiences with either good replayablity or a great overall balance of quality in its elements (great story needs great gameplay to back it up; constantly change things up or at the very least tweak the normal gameplay loop at some point to keep things interesting, etc.) Also more single player stuff please.

literally 30 y/o boomer bong here, noone ever talked about all the stuff that kicked off in ireland & the good friday agreement, I've learned most of it through everything kicking off with Brexit
on top of that I didn't even know what bloody sunday was up until very recently when it was in the news again.
What kind of bird is that?
Coworker I used to know had one, and he was really friendly and liked birbing people.
I just realized women born after 2000 can be porn stars now. What an amazing thing to realize.
some sort of parakeet maybe
Born 2000, TF2 is probably my favorite game. I'm not a complete zoomer, at least.
Also Metroid Prime, Half-Life 1, Pokemon Emerald and Platinum, and many more which don't come to mind immediately.

Agreed.
I think there are two big things browsing Yea Forums while young can do to you.
Make you see the errors you mustn't make, and make you a better man for it.
Or make you give up. I was half-way to giving up for a time, as I dropped out of school, but now I'm going to community college and have gotten all As for the last three semesters.
God bless you guys.

I've seen a wild influx of girls making pornhub accounts after turning 18 this year. It's creepy, fascinating and hot at the same time.
>BO2
Get out.
It is. It was the greatest attack on our soil, and killed and injured a massive number of civilians. It wasn't undeserved of course, but the government won't get into who's to blame for their own safety.
2001 is probably the latest anyone would go, as that's the beginning of the 21st century.
Some might consider us 2000fags just pre-zoomer.
New yorker here, was 11 when it happened. I dont hear it discussed much, even in the years immediately following the attack. I think it hit everyone so hard they were just speechless. Then that just turned into perseverance because what is constantly disccusing it going to do? I will say I went down to one wtc recently and saw the memorial. Was pretty upsetting but then checked out the new building which is quite the architectual feat.

Let's be real, even post USSR the US defense spending budget was pretty high. Now, it did go up after 9/11, but we've always had a permanently high defense budget since at least the Spanish-American war.
It was pretty different. Whether that difference is purely due to 9/11, or more due to an increase in technology that warped the way the government and companies can monitor you, monetize your every bit of data, and wall you off into echo chambers (of ads) is a very different conversation.
28, Super Mario bros 2 was a great one. One of the first games I ever beat. I remember getting a super nintendo with Aladdin and Super Mario All-Stars for... I want to say it was Christmas. I still have them, but they controller wire is very unreliable now.
I've found the best Zoomer cutoff in America is "do you clearly remember 9/11". If yes, then congrats, you're a millenial boomer. If not, then it's off to zoom town.
Based, Dark Forces and Jedi knight series were fun as hell, especially if you crank up the "realistic" saber combat so throwing your lightsaber just blenders people.
This man is correct. Though 38 definitely seems high for millenials, but c'est la vie.
I live by an Air Force base. It was really chaotic, cuz the FAA was obviously shitting bricks, the USAF was shitting bricks, it turns out the infrastructure for them to communicate is really fucking complicated for some reason (fixed in the aftermath) so there was Dick Cheney's no-fly order coming in from one direction, and the USAF general of the base apparently ordering every F-15/16 available to get fueled up and combat loaded in case they needed to shoot stuff down. The whole place remained on "finger on trigger" mode for the next week.
>I hope you mean the OG pre-9/11 almond activator.
Yeah, exactly that one. I really dig the type of dark conspiracies and gritty atmosphere that the game had in it, been looking for other games with a similar feeling.
>If so you'd probably enjoy GitS:SAC, and some of the stuff Orwell wrote.
I've actually thought about watching it, yeah, and I've read some of Orwell's stories that everyone else has read (like 1984 and Animal Farm) a long while ago. I'm not too obsessed with it, but like I said with Deus Ex, I really enjoy the dark and gritty atmosphere & mood that came with some of his stories, like 1984.
18. Probably rimworld right now and I've been playing through xcom files and 40k for openxcom. I'm pretty bored with games now though and don't really play much anymore.
How do you manage to not hold hands with a girl by that age? Get some more friends so you can start getting invited to places and go to the pub or something. Find a new job that younger people work at
I miss people getting public banned for being underage even if they are trying to be funny
>Just get a new job and sever your old connections specifically for pussy
Have you ever actually had a job?
Old connections? Were you fucking boss baby or something you're 18 and not in college whatever job you have could probably be done by a decently trained earth worm
It's called not being a useless sack of shit and people will respect you quickly, I know, that's a pretty difficult concept
Maybe if there's a female at your next business conference in Brunei you could go for a handshake and just not let go.

Not gonna say they "had it coming", but it was a reasonable reality check. Heck, back in those days, in other places, terrorists wearing explosives would blow themselves in full buses so often it felt like a weekly occurrence. I still remember seeing images of charred buses in the newspaper, being 9.
When hijacked planes crashed into two buildings in the USA, I seriously didn't understand the magnitude of the event. I still don't. It's just an other attack, whoopty doo. And the United States took it waaaay to hard. Nowadays I realize that Americans were too confident in their detachment from the world's troubles, that when they got faced with one single incident, it shattered their whole safety perception. And that is why they consider 9/11 as the world's greatest tragedy. They just turned a blind eye at all tragedies before that day.
So they didn't deserve it, as nobody deserves a terrorist attack and death of innocents, but to some degree they needed to have their eyes opened.
Does it count if I was born at the beginning of 1995? CTR is easily my favourite game, I still play it nigh daily.
Only by boomers and righties who still use it to attack everyone but Saudi Arabia, the ones actually responsible

I found it not too long ago in 2016 , some chick sent me a link and it went off from there. I did experience some early Internet but my memory is kinda hazy, I was (and still am) a sonic autist so I just watched a bunch of sonic+mario related shit but do recognize some of the classic stuff like soundscape notepad tutorials and caramrelldansen etc.. The Internet now does suck though, while I don't remember 100% what I browsed and the most of the other core early 2000's jokes and sites I still find it better. I unironically wish I was born a little earlier so I can fully experience 2000's internet.

Heard about Yea Forums on and off for a while, and found out about it through that Yea Forums scare that appeared on the news. The internet today is okay, but it seems more sensitive than before. I did use the old internet a bit, and feel nostalgic for it, it really does seem like it was a better time. I've found myself wishing I was born earlier to explore the full brunt of early internet.

I just turned 19, made me feel really old when I thought about guys being my age when DMC1 came out and loved it. One of my favorite series next to RE and Tekken. All of which I’ve played right outta the womb. 2001 was 18 years ago bros, ik I was a baby, but everything is being put into perspective for me. Dude, you're still a fucking teenager. I'm nearing 30 and I still don't really feel old. Get some perspective.

You make it seem impossible to learn when you're older which is incorrect. Your brain does lose plasticity and it's more challenging, but not impossible.
Got my first pc when I was 8, stole the family pc lol. I was on it 10 hours a day literally. Been on youtube since the star rating. I really miss when it wasn’t corporate and was just people making videos, shit...remember the avgn vs irate gamer? Fun times, now its about ads and being kid friendly. I kinda forgot about how I found Yea Forums but it slipped through in my early teens. I’m nostalgic for old flash games and such. Big draw for me on this site is no censorship outside of correct rules (most of the time, jannies)

>Donkey Kong Country
Looking back at it, I think I’m just very nostalgic for these games.
I was born in 2001 but my family was poor as fuck so i grew up with a ps1 and a snes
You can just emulate games like I did
I get your point but if you keep on that train of thought you are only going to depress yourself. It's only going to get worse as you get older, trust me.
Pretty good taste for someone so young. Keep it up fellas

Looking back at my list, maybe I just really like water based games? Kek
Thank you elder-user, you’re right. I’ve never thought about it that way.
I'm in a similar boat( here) I was always around computers as far as I remember(my memory only goes back until I was around 4). Some of my earliest memories were playing NES and old MS--DOS shareware games. I still got to experience the original Youtube, I still got to experience flash games and the pre-fucked internet, all that stuff, but the times changed faster than I could comprehend. Hell, I still used our family Windows XP shitbox well up until 2014. I think I found out about Yea Forums somewhere in early 2011-2012 from my sister showing me funny flash videos on /f/ and it sort of turned into a downward spiral to the point I've been obsessed with this site ever since.

I mostly just used the internet to get roms to play on emulators untill like 2009 where I started to be more active on forums and stuff
