Why are people so nice in this game? People are so friendly in party's and when you meet them out randomly in the field it always makes me suspicious they want to screw me over somehow. People on avarage are much more abrasive and rude in the dozens of other MMO's i've played.

A DPS gain is a DPS gain. The only reason why WAR pulls in the first place is because it suffers the least penalty when pulling. Also vengeance under IR in the opener is great but once vengeance is off the PLD tanks.
Also PLD only had an enmity combo in 2.x which is why it was MT back then. As for now, PLD gets shield oath before sword oath so your argument is retarded.

Main was 24 seconds long. An entire combo is 7.5s to do. When you finish storms eye your main is at 21 seconds. If you dont use main for your third combo you will lose it. You can do two combos before you need to refresh main.
Assuming you dont maintain path at all, you need to refresh every third combo. If you need to use path by your third combo, your main needs to then be used at your second combo to prevent it being dropped.
So you have two BB combo's done by the time the PLD has done 3 halone combos. By the time you use your third BB, the PLD has done 4 halone combos. You are already behind the PLD by 2 enmity combos. Even if you stay in Defiance and the PLD in sword oath, you are already losing hate.
This is assuming you dont give a shit about path, because you're still supposed to keep that up. Even just mitigating auto attacks is huge.

Path goes up as required because it was never enough to offset healing, only create less overhealing (outside of raidwide and TB). It never saved GCDs. Besides, healing was very different back then. It's an argument with merit currently, not as it was.

There's only a few moments in any fight where you can take off path in end game content. Kaliyah was the only fight in all of final coil that you could realistically take off path for an entire combo and that is assuming your healers arewith with the ridiculous auto attacks on both tanks in DPS stances. Even Imdugud did a lot of damage to the party if Path isnt helping with mitigation.

Part of that is that WoW has alpha and beta tests that people get into and then datamine. This game has no test server available to the public. What we know is whatever SE deigns to share with us and everything else is kept in the dark. A mixed blessing. It's nice to go in on a long of this stuff totally blind and experience it all for the first time live instead of reading about it. At the same time though if SE doesn't share anything, the info drought is real.

That was always going to be a problem. Even if they detailed class revamps at JP fanfest there wouldn't really be time to fix anything. It's something like a 6 month turnaround typically from SE getting feedback about something to implementation. They're so far ahead on this that shit like potency tweaks is about as far as its going to go from the preview event to launch.
It's like what happened with Pagos. By the time Anemos released they were deep into development of Pagos already and thus had no ability to react to feedback from Anemos before it released so it released as a giant trash pile despite coming out months after Anemos did.
If any of these class revamps are bad at launch it will be at least until 5.1 before they are addressed. Maybe even 5.2 if there's a bunch that needs fixed.

I quit a while ago and now only tank for friends and not for progression. When I was still doing it my coping mechanisms were chainsmoking and alcoholism. I quit alcohol and smoking five years ago cold turkey and haven't relapsed.
Tanking is stressful enough when everyone else is doing everything correctly. But someone fucking up can distract you if you notice it, which will blow your rhythm, which will fuck your aggro gen, which will train the mages, etc.

When I was leveling DRK I ran into this roe BRD on four separate occasions and you could tell he was a clicker but holy shit it was so funny seeing his character basically move around eratically while using skills. Forgot his name but he's on primal, and pretty solid as well, didnt stand in AOEs or anything.
I too wonder this. When I played wow and would get into a new dungeon or heroic let them know, chances are I'd be kicked. Even if I use ez mode mods like dbm or have a guide up. In ffxiv, people are generally nicer and willing to help me learn the fights or more forgiving when I fuck up.

I was originally on Coeurl before the split. Nice server, dps queues were good. Would get maybe up to 20 minutes on some but afterwards? It went to shit quickly. ERP faggots everywhere, dps queues averaging 30+ minutes. So I said fuck it and moved to Exodus. Like it alot better here.

from my own reports i have noticed a gm act in 10-15 minutes once, maybe twice i could never tell if it was a coincidence the second time. They generally won't ban people on the spot unless they have to since they prefer to ban in waves to prevent the person figuring out exactly what got them banned.
And sometimes they keep doing it so I let them die in dungeons and pick them up after.

This subject is why ff14's raid design is either "The best" or "Objectively shit". The way the game is designed pits healers and tanks against one another; DPS are sort of a third party in this wheel of hate.
Since ff14 designs everything as "Everyone is just DPS with side abilities", and enrage timers in Ultimate and Savage are so tight that you simply can't behave otherwise, tanks and healers are naturally pushed to be at each other's throats.
Tanks using that extra oGCD/GCD for DPS over mitigation (e.g. another Holyspirit vs a clutch life-saving Clemency), and healers playing sketchy with everyone's hp to edge in that extra 50dps for FFLOGS GLORY PARSES creates (and encourages, actively) a wildly toxic and adversarial atmosphere.
This means, if you're into adversarial design and being toxic to everyone, it's brilliant. Or if you're hypercompetitive with a pack of tight friends and can all coordinate each heavily choreographed fight out to every single CD/second of time.
But if you're from any other MMO, or believe in "Being a tank as a tank" or healer as a healer, you're in for a world of retarded pain and abuse.
FF14 is quite literally 8 DPS players DPS'ing and also some of those DPS might have abilities that can sometimes be used to either reduce damage, heal damage, or keep the boss facing a certain way.

Can confirm. JPs don't care much for parses because one person can't carry a raid group; it's about synergy for completion. Lived in US and was on a NA center, moved to JP for work and transferred after my ping destroying me. The difference in playstyles is night and day. Can't recall a single run where a single retard was willing to throw a run and inconvenience seven other people to fit in an extra 2 DPS.

Most groups doing savage never make it past the second boss of each turn (true for all released in HW, SB to my knowledge).
A good example is how they actually patched PLD's wings because nobody would use it because it was down time when used, so they literally patched it to make it apply instantly and 'stick' for 5 seconds so you can use it like an instant mitigation bomb, because everyone so vehemently bitched about losing DPS having to sit there broadcasting wings.

The DPS players in my group are in a divide on how to deal with the second set of plumes.
Someone's saying just AOE them down again quickly and the two DPS players who are eating tethers are going off to the side immediately afterwards.
The other is saying every DPS should single target DPS their plume while the two in charge of tethers go to their spots ASAP.
I have information about these, here's the catch though.

Aoe them down while keeping tabs on the green plume, then single target that one at the right time so it forms the bubble (let the OT get hit twice while kitting it a bit to the side while a melee or a ranger helps him deal with it), do it to soon and the bubble doesn't give enough time for DPS to wash their stacks.
