Not familiar? Autochess is a Dota 2 mod that peaked at like, 500,000 players at one point. It was a custom game made by a small team of chinese guys that Valve managed to hire before tencent did.

There are some Phantasy Star Online references in the Dota items so I guess Icefrog could be interested in working on a looting game like it.
But it's weird they would register a name with 'Dota' in it when Artifact is just that. No event or gamemode is named 'dota whatever' either.

Hey anons I work at valve. Valve bought the rights to autochess and they are turning into a real full on game. It will still be f2p.
Trailer soon at e3 and will release later this year.
All that has to happen is to add some stuff and small rebalancing. Also a mobile version is in the works but seems to be mostly done.
Only ten people at valve working on it and this doesn't include the original team.

it's essentially a management game where all you do is draft hero lineups and then watch them fight
that's pretty much it. Also it has an MMR ladder thing so it hooks the tryhards pretty easily

I know everyone is in agreement that it's autochess but I'm swinging blind here and saying that it's going to be a Diablo clone in the Dota universe. And with how hard they were burned by Artifact it's going to in the same vein as Path of Exile in how they handles it's monetization.

Artifact would have been more successful if it was every Valve character from over the years, instead of just dota shit. Imagine drawing a fucking heavy with like 10 HP, 5 Attack and buffing him with a Kritzkrieg medic to do 10 Attack
