aparently, if the water below it wasn't let out, a pretty large explosion would have happened, though nothing close to 30MT, it would have most likely fucked the other reactors too, making the whole problem way way bigger.

People misunderstand what the threat was; it wasn't a nuclear explosion, but a "pressure" bomb of superheated steam. The 3-4 megaton estimate is still absolutely worst-case, but the explosion would have taken out the plant and ejected burning radioactive material at unprecendented levels. It would have been really, really bad.

Only the first two games have the power plant as a playable level.

The real problem with the RBMK is that is uses closed water inside the graphite instead of the opposite so the reactor collapsing would make it burn harder, and create a gas explosion that would contaminate a much larger area.

But rather than it being a linear thing, have it be a dynamic system. Maybe you have to read up a user manual to diagnose some obscure alarm, and the fix you do causes some other problem to occur. Maybe gauges are faulty, and so you don't know what's exactly going on so you need to test stuff (like what actually happened to Chernobyl). Maybe you need to send your guys into a burning fuel storage room to cool tanks off before they explode; or maybe you fucked up badly and have to evacuate before the place blows up or you lose all your dudes.

the photograph recorded both the ambient light (which is constant) and the flash (which is a brief, well...flash), thus he appears twice in the same photograph.

you can do this with literally any camera by setting it so that the shutter stays open after the flash goes off.
