This game is fucking garbage. You just know that when someone says this is their favorite NES title, they're just trying to be special and don't want to go for the usual Mega Man 2 or 3 despite the fact that Mega Man 4 might as well be the new 2 and it's actually very trendy to shit on 2 right now. However, despite 2's flaws, it's a much better game than Mega Man 4.
This game is fucking garbage. You just know that when someone says this is their favorite NES title...

What's wrong with it? I played 1-3 and X. What's 4 do differently?
4 is best nes mega man you faggot.
>Filled to the brim with lame or tedious minibosses
>Some minibosses are like 2 screens away from each other
>Health bars fill way too slowly, kill the pace and kill the music
>Not a fan of most robot master designs
>Two water stages
>Some completely broken shit that wasn't playtested like that instant death spike you be forcefully moved into if you jump during a screen transition in Dive Man's stage
>Sets the precedent for the droning two castles concept that goes on way too long (although doc robots sucked too)
>Those enemies that give you 1 frame to kill them in Cossack stages
>No weapon/stage interaction like dust crusher shattering off of walls
>Flash Stopper in general doesn't actually stop jack shit if you test it throughout the game while Time Stopper would stop entire stage hazards and even Wily Castle bosses in their tracks
>b-but muh 2
Fuck off. Unless you're saying anything in 4 is the same level of janky bullshit as pic related, in which case, lol
The rest of 2's Wily Castle stages are shit compared to 4 as well. One good dragon fight can't save the rest of that fucking mess.
4 is the best NES title, deal with it
>Unless you're saying anything in 4 is the same level of janky bullshit as pic related, in which case, lol
The turret is the absolute worst part of Mega Man 2 but Mega Man 4 is full of awful shit that adds up and overshadows the turret easily. Also it's comical you're acting like both castles in Mega Man 4 aren't completely forgettable garbage
>destroy the walls on purpose the first fight.
>take a death on purpose so he can refill his crash bomber energy on the drills outside the boss door.
>re-entering the boss fight without the walls and just nuke them with full energy.
The game gives you a way to deal with it but it's still no excuse. It's long, tedious and wastes time even if it still gives you a way to fix the mistake you made.
It introduced the chargeable buster mechanic, for which it can never be forgiven.
>stock up on lives the whole game
>oops you misplaced one crash bomb
>better either farm in a megaman game or just kys 6 more times so you can try it again :^)
lol
Anyone liked this game? Personally I found it ridiculously easy and the weapons useless outside the Mega Buster. I do remember the Proto Man /Dark Man stages giving me trouble.
>4 babies truly have no ammunition but the turret
I know you were grasping contrarians but come on
5 is the weakest of the nes games easily. It's bad or anything, but as far as the games go it feels mediocre.
Megaman IV on Gameboy is much better
i used to hate 4 but i played through it again recently and it’s actually pretty good
5 has some great music
m.youtube.com
basically every mega man game except 7 is good
Not bad, but the "least good" NES title. It's ubiquitous as the point where they ran out of stuff to do. C'mon... good guy is bad? It's weird that its cartridge value is inversely proportional to how valued it is as a MM game.
probably the easiest nes mega man game
>i used to hate 4 but i played through it again recently and it’s actually pretty good
Opposite for me. I used to have no opinion on 4, 5, and 6 due to not remembering them too well and then I replayed the whole series when the legacy collections came out and ended up absolutely despising 4. I had almost zero fun with that game and was shocked to find out it's the new fan favorite for some awful reason
Personally I was always a fan of 6. I think it's underrated. Flame Man and Tomahawk Man had good music.
The weapons are actually useful in it, for one.
VI was pretty great. I didn't realize at the time how self-aware the game is about itself. Good music and unique Rush armor adapters.
They're completely underwhelming to me, particularly Dust Crusher and Flash Stopper which I mentioned in my rant post. I do feel that if you step outside the Metal Blade meta in Mega Man 2 it ends up having one of the better weapon selections in the NES games. 9 and 11 weapons blow the fuck out of every game though
V is better, but you've got the right idea.
my favourite nes title is contra
Subjective opinions coming through
>Flash Stopper in general doesn't actually stop jack shit if you test it throughout the game while Time Stopper would stop entire stage hazards and even Wily Castle bosses in their tracks
I think it makes the rocks not fall in Drill Man's stage
Dust Crusher and its projectiles can two hit any of those big stomper enemies with massive amounts of hp if you aim it correctly as both the shrapnel and the initial block end up dealing damage. This also works on other large enemies.
Similar weapons which split apart in later entries in the series don't work the same way. Crystal Eye from 5 only splits on walls making it about as useful as Gemini Laser.
Freeze Cracker from 7 also only splits when hitting a wall.
This makes both of these pretty much inferior to the regular Buster but Dust Crusher's ability to shred larger enemies gives it a niche.
For Flash Stopper, it's probably the most useful for killing minibosses before they can even attack.
Normally the whale in Dive Man's stage is annoying due to the tracking missiles and the fact that you have to move against a current during its second appearance. But you can use the flash stopper to prevent it from sucking you in and attacking altogether and immediately kill it without issue.
This is true for most other minibosses in the game; the both the ring miniboss in Ring Man's stage and the snail miniboss in Toad Man's stage can be easily dealt with if you time the Flash Stopper when they're vulnerable.
Flash Stopper is also incredibly helpful at the very end of Drill Man's stage with the falling rocks since the chutes stop dropping rocks with time stopped.
>8 still not higher
Flash Stopper also makes the skullmets from Skull Man's stage vulnerable from the other side making the path through certain rooms a little bit faster.
interesting. Know any other interesting mechanics of the weapons from the other games?
MM7's Thunder Bolt forces the Wily Capsule to perform the easy to dodge ground spark attack, effectively allowing the player a chance to breathe or reroll the location Wily appears at.
Drill Bomb also has some weird functionality with the second Wily Castle boss since, for whatever reason, it has two Drill Bomb barriers located at its feet. If you shoot two Drill Bombs at him, you can walk through him.
In MM6, the Power Adapter charge shots can be used against the first Mr. X boss and against Mr. X himself in the spike ball to force them backward. Both of which require precise timing.
That's good to know
I replayed 8 via MMLC2 recently and it's just not very good compared to most of the series outside of some QoL improvements. The stage I enjoyed the most was Grenade Man's, and having played 11 around the same time it felt like Blast Man was a strictly superior execution on the concept of the stage.
>Flash Stopper in general doesn't actually stop jack shit if you test it throughout the game while Time Stopper would stop entire stage hazards and even Wily Castle bosses in their tracks
Nigger are you even using it properly
the power stone came in handy for taking out those giant enemies while camping on the ladders.
This
>this taste
I die.
>Filled to the brim with lame or tedious minibosses
>Some minibosses are like 2 screens away from each other
>M-MUH 2!
Kill yourself you brain dead cunt
>thinks 3 is in any way better than 4
You're fucking retarded, there's a very good reason pic related was never used again in tha main series. Also spark shot is almost unanimously the most useless weapon in the series.
>I love Capcom for making Megaman more casual after 3!
>wha? no! that's actually a good thing!
this is you. Megaman 3 is better than 4 because it actually gives you a challenge after you've mastered the slide which is easy as fuck anyway.
Pic related should come back
Charged shot was good though.
It is however, the basis for one of the greatest rom hacks ever.
Seriously Rockman 4 Minus Infinity is fucking amazing.
>spent all of childhood thinking Mega Man 3 was the best
>get a younger friend who missed out on the NES to try them all out
>get caught up in the enthusiasm and start playing them all again
>opinion changes
4 is now my favorite, it feels the most solid overall and manages to add to the mechanics before it all started to feel monotonous in 5 and 6.
I still love 3, but god damn 4 is amazing and minus infinity is even better.
Based.
I bought the megaman collection and played through all 6 games for the first time in my life.
Heres my review of all the games
Megaman 1:
Fun, but hard as fuck for no reason probably because early NES games needed to be hard for replay value considering they were short
Megaman 2:
Fun as fuck, I love the ability to do the bosses in any order, adds another layer of freedom to the game. Best gameplay of the series
Megaman 3:
Robot Masters are neat and cool, I like the unique level design, but certain levels checkpoints are horrendously fucked, and some bosses are hard as fuck for no reason with default blaster like Skullman
Protoman has the best music in the series youtube.com
Megaman 4:
Robot Masters were neat, but again some were hard and some were weird to figure out, like Toadmans whole Raindance gimmick. It was fun, but some powers were objectively better then others and some were horrid. Dr Cossacks was neato, but the final boss was truly awful. Especially if you don't have any weapons charged.
Megaman 5:
I liked it, but robot masters were weird and sometimes nonsensicle. Why the fuck would Dr Light who preaches peace make NAPALM MAN. Good lore with protoman
Megaman 6:
It was fun, level design was good. But there was one too many shitty pitfalls for my liking. I liked the unique robot masters who were fun to fight against
>tfw I fucked up spoiler tags
time to kill myself
3>2>6>5>4>1
>Why the fuck would Dr Light who preaches peace make NAPALM MAN
Light only made the robots in 1, 9 & 11. Wily either created or personally reconfigured the Robot Masters in 2-5, 7-8, and 10. 6 were robots from different countries around the world that he stole.
Skullman was in 4, not 3
>page 10
not on my watch.
which robot master has given you the most trouble in this series?
for me it:s Dynamo Man. fuck him.
Elecman fucks me up on buster only runs
dude
shut the fuck up
The trick is to just shoot him when he raises his hands
It might be weaker relative to other games in the series but don't be disingenuous and call it garbage
Now get Legacy Collection 2 and play 7-10, you will like these games even more
11 is pretty good as well
>Not BCAS
Pleb.
>Are these games the worst MM games?
Yes
>Are these games bad?
No
What does it do?
All of the 16 stages are packed with fantastic gimmicks and ideas or technical feats that all enhance the gameplay experience.
Mega Man's weapons are all fun to use and useful in some what, even providing mobility options.
It's jam packed with secrets and there's a hero score system that evaluates your run at the end.
It has a huge number of extra bosses just because, secret bosses and mini-bosses.
For as impressive as the early stages are, the Cossack and Wily castle stages get even better, to explain them would be spoiling the experience.
To give you an idea of some of the starting stages.
Pharaoh Man's stage sees you navigating a pyramid to his chagrin, whilst you endure curses that limit or mess with your movement or weapons.
Skull Man's stage is featured around all of the different moving platforms and hazards across the six NES titles, it even has a diagonal autoscroller.
Bright Man's stage starts with a limited field of view, much of the space above or below Mega Man is not visible, technically I'm not even sure how this is accomplished. It also has the Game Boy Rock World HUD instead of the standard NES HUD just because.
Bad gameplay, decent soundtrack.
IV and VI are my favourite classic Mega Man games. VI easily has the best OST out of them all and the stage designs are solid as well.
Mega Man 4 is shit, yeah. That level design is cancer.
I like the music though, it's weird and kinda experimental. Skull Man's theme is godtier and it has the best Wily theme in the series(the second Wily theme which unfortunately you hear very little due to the stages being very short)
Mega Man 5 is crazy underrated on the other hand. It pisses me off when some people think 6 is better because "muh super adapter" when that game is fucking dogshit.
Anyways
3 > 1 > 2 > 5 > 4 > 6
Mega Man 4's level design is actually much worse on average. It loves fucking spikes.
Fuck Inafune, what a hack designer.
You know, it's pretty damn weird that in-game, the title screens for the first seven games use Roman numerals, but the box art all uses standard numbers.
The official titles for the games do not use Roman numerals.
It gets further confusing because the Game Boy titles DO use Roman numerals.
Except the Japanese titles for these games use numbers instead, like Rockman World 5.
Much better than 4 and 6.
it has some of the best atmosphere in the series m8
The only thing I hate about charged shot is the fucking WEEEEEEEEEEEE high pitched charging sound that makes my ears bleed. Legitimately uncomfortable.
Megaman 5's soundtrack is godtier comfy.
I like 4's OST for being interesting and kinda experimental but 5 despite being a more conservative soundtrack blows it away when it comes to consistency.
3 destroys 4.
Just stop while you're ahead zoomer.
We can all agree 9 has the best OST, right?
Mega Man 5's title screen theme is the best in the series.
youtube.com
Yes.
>Tornado Man (Great)
youtube.com
>Flash in the Dark (GOD TIER)
youtube.com
>Galaxy Man (GOD TIER, insanely catchy, almost sounds like a pop song)
youtube.com
Mega Man 9 has a fucking incredible soundtrack and it hits it out of the park with the most songs out of any games in the series.
>the best Wily theme in the series
>not any of 10's Wily stage themes
>VI easily has the best OST out of them all
Oh god, please kill yourself, just do it already.
6 easily has the worst and most forgettable soundtrack of the bunch. Easily Yuko Takehara's worst soundtrack, which is crazy when you consider she went on to do Boomer Kuwanger's theme in MMX and she did Breath of Fire 2's soundtrack which albeit inconsistent is a pretty good soundtrack.
Maybe she just sucked at doing music for the NES.
Jake Kaufman did a kickass chiptune remix of Tornado Man's stage too
>please kill yourself, just do it already.
Not him but please don't be rude user this is a nice pleasant Mega Man thread :'(
>6 easily has the worst and most forgettable soundtrack of the bunch
What's your favourite classic soundtrack?
>5 is the weakest NES title
Are all of you forgetting how barebones MM1 is?
What atmosphere?
If anything 4 is a huge downgrade art-style wise compared to 2 and 3.
Never liked the pastel colors it uses.
5 tried to fix this problem to some degree.
>VI easily has the best OST
It's pretty high up there, Tomahawk Man's theme is underrated as fuck
youtube.com
Nah, that's 3's.
youtube.com
But 5's is definitely second best.
You're right.
4 > 3 > 2 > 6 >= 5 > 1
2 is the best megaman game. let's assume I'm not too fond of 1 or 3. which MM would I like?
This remix sucks. It has wayyy too much going on and is frantic as shit. Disappointed considering it's Jake Kaufman.
Megaman 6 is the better NES game
You'd be a big fan of Mega Man 9.
No slide, no charge shot, many intentional design choices to harken back to Mega Man 2, solid level design, arguably the strongest soundtrack in the series.
Definitely give it a shot.
Nah, 10 has a better soundtrack by the sheer virtue of the God Bun Bun composing Solar Man's theme
youtube.com
Also reminder that Solar Man's theme could easily fit into a Mega Man X game as well
youtube.com
thanks based user, will do
Meh...they're great but just not memorable enough to me. I dunno.
MM3
You're in the clear. If you said anything other than 3 or 9 I would have been disgusted. 5's soundtrack is also pretty underrated.
What's your favourite song from 3? I think I like Spark Man the best.
>The first game on the series
>Bare bone
Stop trolling.
And I still say it's better than 2.
Level Design is better
Yellow Devil >>>>>>>> lame ass Dragon
Magnet Beam >>>>>>> shitty items
You can't cheese the game with an overpowered weapon like the metal blade
etc.
10 has an insane OST due to all the different composers on it, but 9 just has this quality to its music that's so iconic, for lack of a better term. 10's music almost feels experimental for a Classic Mega Man game; you even kind of allude to that by saying it would fit an X game. Pump & Chill Man's themes are really solemn, Sheep Man's theme goes a lot of places, Strike Man's theme feels more like an actual sports anthem than a level theme most of the time. The Wily stages have that 9 quality to them though until the very last one and that's why they're so great.
Also, the Proto Man and Bass Shop themes are incredible. Two of the most underrated tracks in the series.
youtube.com
youtube.com
Not to mention the Mega Man Killers' remixes.
>9
What is it with this meme of 9 being this godly soundtrack?
10's was better.
That said both 9 and 10's soundtracks as well as the games themselves...felt kinda soulless.
I dunno, maybe it's just me.
There're some people that just can't get into Inti Creates' games.
I love them though.
Very aimless and boring for the most part except that one part at 00:45 but it's too damn short.
10 is also one of my favourite soundtracks, definitely up there, with lots of standouts (like Against the Pressure), but it is in my opinion less consistent in quality than Mega Man 9. The melodies in 9 just feel much catchier and akin to MM2 and 3. MM10's level themes have a MM4-6 vibe, where the graphics and melodies generally got more complicated and took longer to loop. They just feel more aimless.
Who's trolling? MM1 planted the flag, but every game that followed it built on the formula in mostly positive ways.
I want to touch Guts Man's butt
Fire themed robot masters confirmed as best
>Gutsman
>Second-lowest Butt stat
DELET THIS
more robot mistresses
>iceman with highest butt stat
>no ass at all
It has the best music
youtube.com
Elecman is weak to scissoring....
You're garbage
Burner Man was hell when I played the game as a kid.
I want to play MM&B again but its framerate is terrible. Capcom should've used MM7 graphics instead of gutting muh fps.
I don't remember & Bass having a bad framerate.
Minus Infinity is one of the most overrated rom hacks of all time.
>garbage music
>poorly teaches new mechanics
>bullet sponge enemies/bosses
H-hot
>Level design is 4 in cancer
>But 3 is great
>By repeating 4 stages again with more spikes and a trap that fuck You over if you dont conserve Rush Jet
>Literally the most basic bitch Wily stages ever, so easy they give you fucking 5 E-Tanks
MM3 is only liked by contrarians. 2 is still better in every way.
>Proto Man shop theme
I loved that one. Yu Shimoda(according to VGDMB) did a pretty good job of mimicking Bun Bun's jazzy style on that one.
MM10's soundtrack just feels more like Classic Megaman to me even though it's all over the place considering it's almost the damn entire OG Alph Lyla team contributing to it.
My favorite tracks tend to be from the old composers.
Like for example I think Wily's 5 themes are great when you hear them but I think they're not memorable. They just don't have that emotion to them Wily's themes used to have in MM1-5 where you always remembered them and you would hum them unconsciously.
The Inti Creates composers to me feel like they're trying their best to sound like the old guard and I commend them for it, they certainly do a commendable job and the tracks are well composed and all but they just don't feel as emotional to me for some reason.
They're not bad games or anything but I don't like how they took out the slide and the charge shot and locked them behind different modes/dlc.
I also feel like they go too far like with the MM10 Wily Nostalgia Tower. This is saying a lot since arguably MM3 went too far with the Doc Robot stages but somehow it never felt excessive to me there.
I just never understood why...aside from some of my issues(such as them still being 8-bit, pointless removal of moves being locked behind DLC etc.) I could never fall in love with 9 and 10 like I did with the NES games.
Even 4 and 6, games which I kinda dislike(and are arguably much worse than 9 and 10) have a lot more charm to me.
And before you say that it's because of nostalgia , I just want to point out that I did not grow up with the NES games and only ever played them in emulators much later.
You might disagree with me but I think 4's(despite being flawed and inconsistent) and 5's soundtrack are much better than 9's and 10's and much more charming.
Also to me 10's robot master stage themes felt more like the NES games and 9's...I dunno, they felt like Inti Creates music. They were good but just, I dunno.
Daily reminder Mega Man 7 & 8 are good games and people only dislike them because they're retards.
The demakes are good.
The originals on SNES and PS1 are better.
>the best Mega Man is also the only one where Inafune had no involvement
>Remakes
What?
the music in the demakes is complete shit
the only flaw is that wanted more of it
Rockman 7 FC and Rockman 8 FC for PC.
For the most part yes.
I liked the saturn tengu man arrange though.
I'd say it's Top 3, not sure about #1. Also MMZ is the most consistently good series in the franchise in terms of game quality and that was the series where his OC got jerked off over and over.
MM12 is going to be amazing. I'd take it before X9.
Needed more playable characters and 1 or 2 more Wily stages
7 and 8 FC
MM3 doesn't have trash like Quick Man's entire stage with its cheap death lasers.
That alone makes it way better.
Criticizing the Doc Robot stages for making you use Rush Jet is like criticizing the Wily Stage in 2 for making you use the Items. It's dumb as shit.
Also Trap Room Boss is worse than anything in 3.
2 is inferior to 1 let alone 3.
Sit down clown.
>MM12 is going to be amazing. I'd take it before X9.
That would imply Capcom is ever going to release an X9 ;_;
3's only fault is the slowdown. Which if I recall right there's a hack that fixes its problems.
Just looked it up. Are there really only people who can play MM games if they're in the 8 bit style?
>2 is inferior to 1 let alone 3.
Let's not get too crazy here. 2 IS an improvement over 1. Each sequel is basically a straight improvement up until 5 or 6.
That's literally the next game considering Mega Man 11 was made due to the Legacy Collection's success and X's legacy collection was pretty successful as well.
>Are there really only people who can play MM games if they're in the 8 bit style?
That's a good question, and they're missing how good 11 is too
Some japs made them for the 20th (I think) anniversary so all numbered classic rockman games from 1 to 10 were in the same style.
>2 is inferior to 1 let alone 3.
Lmao shut up nigger.
8 is fine. 7 is trash.
>7 is trash
Lemme guess, muh big sprites
Invert this and it's true. Last Mega Man thread somebody said that it's easier to see 7 as Rockman World 6 and that works really well. It plays and is designed a lot more like the GB games (since it's the same team), and as such is just shy of IV & V since you can tell the team wasn't as familiar with the hardware.
Their biggest flaw is the 4 then 4 format instead of allowing you to play any of the 8 stages from the start.
>3's only fault is the slowdown
I agree but they rushed the thing.
It's the NES anyways, that shit always had slowdown. It pisses me off Capcom never ported them properly besides the Complete Works ones for the PSX(speaking of that for some reason the arranged soundtrack for 3 in Complete Works has MM7's intro stage playing in it youtube.com
I would love to see MM1-6 and heck even 7/8/9/10 get the Taxman treatment...except with no widescreen shit because that would break these games and the colors should be as close to the NES composite colors(like the recent releases tried to be) as possible.
It feels like the game is designed that way, I mean most people start with Freeze Man anyway
Some of the levels need to be changed so the 8 stages from the start can work, like Sword Man's stage where you need to use all the first 4 weapons to progress
Can I just say that Capcom's been dishing out pretty good shit in 2018-2019, especially compared to their lackluster 2014-2017. Mega Man 11, Devil May Cry 5, REmake 2 all very great games of series currently in a stagnant phase.
I'm pretty sure the only people who are (tbf, reasonably) still mad are MMLfags.
It all comes down to Inafune, whose beliefs that western development and practices were the future for Japanese publishers were believed wholesale by the board and fucked the company up for years. The past couple years have been the first major releases since his leave.
MMLfags should blame him too. MML3 was made by Inafune pulling people off of other projects to make an Alpha, announced it before it was greenlit, tried to crowdsource part of the early design process, and promised shit without having a plan in place. Then he leaves Capcom and tries to go "Hey my new company Comcept will finish MML3 for you" and Capcom told him to fuck off. It was a game that was never really in the cards announced to give Inafune leverage when he left, but his gamble failed. Plus, given MN9 and NG Yaiba, the Comcept-developed and/or produced MML3 could've potentially been a piece of shit.
Which is bad design. Contrast with 4 or 11 for example, when there's no clear answer on where to start.
The first half of Sword Man's stage is crap anyways.
>2 IS an improvement over 1.
I disagree completely.
2 has more content than 1 but is overall more flawed. You can pick your poison but 1 is overall better designed than 2.
>Each sequel is basically a straight improvement up until 5 or 6.
Once again I disagree.
4 is a major downgrade in comparison to 3, and 5 is massive improvement over the disappointment that was 4.
3 > 9 > 7 > 11 > 5 > 2 > 6 > 8 > 10 > 4 > 1
It's the truth.
1 and 3 don't have overpowered weapons like the Metal Blade
1 and 3 don't have bullshit like trap room boss
1 and 3 don't have bullshit unfun stages like Quick Man
1 has a cool Yellow Devil and Copy Robot fight
Both 1 and 3 have better robot master designs(Wood Man? Bubble Man? Really?)
The final boss' weakness in 2 being the Bubble weapon is lame as hell(granted 3's being the ballerina spin is not that much better but I blame 2 for introducing the "Meme weapon is Wily's weakness" trope)
etc.
Snakes is actually Gamma's real weakness. Top Spin only works due to Gamma's lack of iframes.
>3 don't have overpowered weapons like the Metal Blade
user, I...
youtu.be
The problem with 2 isn't the MB being op, it's that every other weapon is either too situational or pure trash.
>Health bars fill way too slowly, kill the pace and kill the music
The fuck was up with that especially? In no other MM game did the health filling completely drown out the music. Fuck, even hacks of MM4 don't.
>1 and 3 don't have bullshit unfun stages like Quick Man
Decent points but Quick Man's stage is great what's your problem with it?
Hopefully it comes out alright and doesn't share 80% of its graphics with 11.
Shadow Blade isn't overpowered because it has a maximum of 56 uses instead of 112/infinite, has limited range, and cannot shoot downwards.
I always forget that shit. Gotten too use to using the Top Spin.
Shadow Blade is not nearly as broken.
The quick boomerang can be useful.
But I think most Mega Man games don't do a good job with the weapons anyways.
My problem is that MB is too overpowered and it costs jackshit to use. You can go for long periods of times without reverting to regular buster and you're not in danger of running out.
It's also extremely useful against several bosses which makes their actual weakness weapons pointless to use against them.
The one-hit death laser sequences. I just don't like that part at all.
I don't like it when I'm hurried like that.
rather play Bloodborne, the greatest game of all time.
If you nerfed the MB it wouldn't make the other weapons more useful. Everything else either has an incredibly specific niche or is straight up useless. You'd just use the mega buster, like in 5.
Easily the best of the latter trilogy(4-6_ of NES games.
Mari Yamaguchi is underrated.
She went on to composed one of the most iconic 16-bit JRPG Overworld Themes.
youtube.com
Metal Blade was better than the Shadow Blade. Shadow Blade had the boomerang effect which limited its range and a reasonably limited supply. Metal Blade didn't have that limitation and you basically never had to worry about running out of weapon energy.
feels so good when you do it right, though.
sounds like you just need to git gud
Yeah, but the items aren’t so anal that if you fuck up you’re eternally fucked unless you grind or gameover
I never ran out of any items in Mega Man 2, but man oh man I fucked up that Rush Jet part once and I had to grind to get back. And that Quick Man trap is easy as shit. I did it my 3rd try.
4 is better than both anyway by virtue of not having stupid traps or retarded difficulty spikes.
If you haven't played the Gameboy Megaman games, do so already.
>2 is a downgrade from the jank as fuck 1
>but 4 is a downgrade from the unfinished and jank as fuck 3
Imagine being this wrong
>slide
based
>charge shot
cringe
>If you nerfed the MB it wouldn't make the other weapons more useful.
Never said it would, but at least it would make the game more challenging overall.
I'm usually a buster-only guy(for the most part) but the flaws are there and MB almost makes me reconsider in MM2 all the time.
>1 and 3 doesn’t have OP weapons like 2
The Elec beam with pause glitch is way more OP than anything the Metal Blades can dish out. And 3 balances this out by having the worst weapon in MM history
>1 and 3 don’t have bullshit like the trap room boss
3 has the Rush Jet part that can leave you stranded if you fuck up even a little bit.
>1 and 3 don’t have bullshit unfun stages like Quick Man
Quick Man is barely hard once you know the pattern. And 3 has the horseshit Doc Robot stages that can literally kill you through glitches (like the spike glitch) and the mentioned Rush Jet trap.
>Yellow Devil
>Cool
Wood Man and Bubble Man are infinitely better than fucking Hard Man and TOP MAN. At least Wood Man has a decent weapon
And Bubble Lead is better than Top Spin, so you’re final boss argument is wrong anyway.
I can do it just fine, I just don't enjoy it.
>Yeah, but the items aren’t so anal that if you fuck up you’re eternally fucked unless you grind or gameover
In MM3 I can easily fall on the bottomless pit and game over.
In MM2 there's no bottomless pit in that section so I can either grind or kill myself by jumping on enemies which makes it agonizing.
I did run out of the items in 2 because for some reason I have the worst timing in that section and I had to backtrack several screens back and grind on enemies for ages.
>4 was the best
Stop this meme.
4 has the worst level design from the NES games by far.
And those mini-bosses are boring and take forever to kill, ruin the pace of the levels completely.
1 has jankier controls, 2 has jankier level design.
4 can't compare with 3, stop that.
This got me thinking, how come slide and charge have stayed in the series for decades, yet stuff like rush adaptors or the gears are removed on a whim?
Correct!
>Running out of item energy in Mega Man 2
No offense... but if you can’t get the timing right on that section... the. You just suck.
Also the level design in 4 is great, at worst it’s too easy, but there’s not a single section that fuck you over like 2 and 3.
And if you use Bright Mans time stop you can shit on those mini bosses in 5-6 seconds
You’re right, 4 can’t compare to how buggy and unfinished 3 is
Sorry but glitches don't count.
And last I checked 3 didn't have Power Stone
The only time you should fuck up in that section is possible the first time you play it. And if you do you can easily game over and just start the stage from the beginning.
If you have bad timing on the other hand like I do with that section in MM2 Wily Stage 1 where you need to use the items...there's no convenient way for you to game over so that sucks.
Quick Man stage isn't that hard but it's not fun to me. I was talking about the stage not the boss.
Doc Robots aren't hard, the hardest thing is memorizing their weakness.
>Wood Man and Bubble Man are infinitely better than fucking Hard Man and TOP MAN.
Imagine believing this.
>And Bubble Lead is better than Top Spin
To me they both suck, at least for casual play.
I've seen hardcore players make amazing use of the Top Spin though...not so much the Bubble Lead.
Well you suck too if you run out of Rush Jet all the time too.
FFS you just need to jump over and over and that depletes the bar slower.
They're simplier additions to Mega Man and feel a bit more natural, like he's always had them.
I'd rather take a rushed but great game like 3 rather than a "polished" turd like 4.
You sure love your hyperbole it seems
>both castles are completely forgettable
Nah, you'll never forget a Little-Yellow-Hat-Dude-Only level with a Giant-Yellow-Hat-Dude as the boss.
Yeah I do suck, so the fact you had even more trouble at the item part while I breezed through it so easily I didn’t know it was hard tells me a lot.
What is even so bad about 4? It has some of the best weapons in the series, it has great robot masters (outside of Toad Man who still has a cool weapon) it’s got no balancing issues. It’s got two unique castle stages that do t have to reuse bosses and assets from previous games so often. It has an awesome opening, decent soundtrack.
Compare this to the game that has to reuse 4 stages and 8 bosses because it’s too short and has the most basic final castle in any game in the series.
MM4 ain’t perfect, but it’s better than the “great” turd that was 3
>4 castles is forgettable
Because 3’s Wily stages were a thrill a minute. With reusing half the bosses from 1 and being such a cakewalk I died like once the entire time.
>What is even so bad about 4?
The level design is bad. There's too many damn spikes all over the place.
The mini-bosses are long and tedious.
The art-style is disgusting imo and a huge downgrade from 3.
Soundtrack can be hit and miss.
It's just bleh. It's not as bad as 6 but it's definitely my 2nd least favorite of NES games.
Only Mega Man 1's Wily Stages are truly memorable.
Prove me wrong. Protip:You can't
>tfw Mega Man 8 is the best Mega Man game after 11
Casuals, the lot of you.
Good taste
>Doc Robots aren't hard
I wouldn't say that when Quick and Wood exist, especially without their weaknesses
He's coming back, right bros?
>Power Stone worse than Top Spin
At least you don’t have to get in the enemy’s face and potentially get damage with Power Stone.
>You can easily game over and restart the whole level because you fucked up once
Oh yeah, that’s comforting. And at least with the Items you have multiple chances if you fuck up the timing... with the Rush Jet you fuck up even a little bit and the game punishes you hard
Quick Mans stage is unique and exploratory if you do it right. The Doc Robot stages are just reusing old level assets and adding spikes and shit.
Are you seriously saying Wood Man is worse than Dreidel Man? Because he ain’t
Bubble Lead is at worst w kinda annoying weapon that you can easily use as a projectile. Top Spin is a move that you have to master perfectly so you dont get fucked by its shit hit box.
Preferring 4 over 2 is the sign of a patrician, 2 is Reddit-tier bullshit with no fun weapons and gay stuff like death lasers, off-screen vanishing blocks, and Boobeam Trap. 4's only real weakness is that the robot masters have boring AI but besides that, everything is so much more stellar than in 2.
>Level design is bad because muh spikes
There’s an excess of spikes in the Doc Robot sections in 3 and the castle in 2. It’s really not that big of a deal
>Tedious Mini Bosses
Again, use Bright Man weapon and you can cheese all of them in seconds.
>The Art Style is a downgrade from 3
What are you taking about? It’s way better than 3. The Cossack castle alone looks better than any stage in the Wily stages from 3. Or Top Mans stage (what do cats and marijuana have to do with tops)
>Soundtrack is hit and miss
Eh... fair enough
Patrician Taste.
>2 is Reddit-tier bullshit
QFT
Tengu Man's stage sucks but I can live with this opinion.
That would be nice
>A game where you play as MegaRance, raping each robotmaster and gaining their power to help you dom the next robotmaster.
>Game always ends with a vanilla scene with Roll after you BTFO Dr. Wily
It could work
>Wheel Cutter is the best 10 weapon
>not Triple Blade
Why though?
JUMPJUMPSLIDESLIDE
no, and i love 8, but 9 will always be the best
Shit opinion: the post the thread.
>get back from work
>thread is still up
Cool now I get to respond to some of the replies leveled at me for hating Mega Man 4
*clears throat*
Cherrypicking.
>drill man rocks
>not using Pharoah's big brain bubble to stay under and collect items
Literally proving that 4fags are brainlet NPCs who just want to show they're so much more intelligent than people who like 2 (which has better weapons, level design, robot masters, music etc)
News flash: 4 is the reddit game now
I see you don’t like hanging out with the Fun Boys.
>2
>better weapons
Nigger have you fucking used them? They're horrible
I like Charge Man solely because the BN fusion somehow looks cool
Time Stopper, Leaf Shield, Air Shooter, Quick Boomerang, and obviously Metal Blade have several applications throughout the game. Even Crash Bomb is good on joes iirc which leaves Bubble Lead, and Atomic Fire as the odd duds
Bubble Lead is used to identify the false floor traps in one of the Wily stages, and is the only thing Wily Alien is weak to (or even vulnerable to in Difficult/Japan release)
Atomic Fire, yeah I got nothing. Heck did you know you can charge that weapon?
Mega Man 2 actually introduced weapon charging before Mega Man 4 did for the buster.
>time stopper
useless outside of quick man
>leaf shield
does jack shit and can't even block bullets
>air shooter
runs out of ammo too quickly
>quick boomerang
good, but metal blade exists, and autofire makes it irrelevant
>crash bomb
can't even kill a crazy cannon in one hit and so little ammo
>not liking pharaoh man
>STOP CRITICIZING MY GAMES REEEEE
exceptional taste
>useless outside of quick man
Literally an "I don't feel like doing this part" button, have you ever used it?
>does jack shit and can't even block bullets
It's god-tier for all rail platform parts and fucks the birds on Crash Man's level
>runs out of ammo too quickly
Yeah but it's got a good arc and damage even still
>good, but metal blade exists, and autofire makes it irrelevant
Well I think certain enemies are more weak to Quick Boomerang, like the walkers that it melts
>can't even kill a crazy cannon in one hit and so little ammo
I never said Crash Bomb was good but it fucks Joes as far as I remember so hey it has its place I guess
>Why yes, I do think Mega Man 4 is the best game in the classic series, what gave it away?
>this fucking thread
Can we at least all agree that Megaman's good fangames absolutely steamroll the original NES games and the two Wii games?
Also, Dagger Man.
MM4 for Gameboy is way better in every aspect than a handheld port has any right to be.
youtube.com
Yep. 8BDM and MAGMML2 are fucking masterpieces. Also, Quint.
>he played MaGMML2, aka the furry support game
You, and every other Sprites .Inc cocksucker, deserve to burn in hell. I bet you fapped to PinkKittyRose, too.
This game did everything right :)
there is a very simple way to do this fight without dying and it takes like 2 mins tops. only took me 20 years to figure it out.
4 was my first megaman i played on nes and probably beat it 8 times easily since it was the only one i had. holy fuck that boss music was terrible.
thank god i got 6 that game was GOAT mm
Skullman is easy as fuck.
He is 100% reactive; technically you control him as well as Megaman.
Seriously, go test this:
-when fight starts, DO NOTHING. Skullman will stand there, staring at you. you can go make a drink and come back, he'll still be doing nothing. Let's call this "neutral"
-when neutral, he will ignore vertical jumping with no directional input, as well as slides as long as you only press down.
How he reacts:
-in neutral, you moving left or right, even 1 pixel, will trigger him to shoot at you. 2 volleys of 3 shots, 1 up, 1 straight, 1 down (order of shots is random, but he will do all 3) then return to neutral.
-shooting at him in neutral will trigger him to jump at you (covers about 2/3 arena), raise shield when lands, drop shield, then sprint forward stopping where you were when he started running, then return to neutral.
Not knowing the above, I GUARANTEE this is how your fight is going:
-you're starting the fight by shooting at him, thus he jumps at you. you panic, as he's now pretty much in your face. Soon as his shield drops, you open fire, which he RUNS THROUGH straight at you (still part of that pattern). You are either getting hit by him, or jumping over him and running the other way. he is now shooting you in the ass as you run (movement in neutral). You are frantically dodging these shots, weaving back and forth, while firing back. 99% chance you fired a shot at him after he fired his sixth shot and returned to neutral, thus triggering him to jump at you again. Rinse and repeat until he has murdered you, as you think this is all random and not a set pattern that you should be baiting and punishing.
Classic threads are boring, where's my "literally any other sub series" thread?
Dead after X4.
Maybe if "literally any other sub series" had more than three unquestionably good games in them.
Zero
Three out of four isn't difficult.
simple, do not use it
But all four are godlike.
Alright, I'll give you Zero, because you're right.
Irisfags are cancer as always
X, Zero, Legends and BN say hi (2/3 for Starforce isn't half bad either)
But we don't know who he is.
Eh, Leviathan is a better girl.
I played for the first time back in August (along with the other NES MM games). I thought it was decent, but not great. Much better than the overrated heap of shit known as 3, which is easily the worst entry on the NES.
Thunder bolt can activate generators in Junk Man's stage, it can also briefly light the dark room in shade man's stage.
Fire Wheel can burn the foliage in Slashman's stage which would also destroy the attached hornet nests, it can also light the candles in Shademan's dark room
Freeze cracker can freeze the slag in Junk Man's stage and also make the weather manipulator in Cloud man's stage snow which would reveal all the invisible ledges
charged Noise Crusher can send Gutstank's thrown rock back at him
You can aim the Spring weapon to bounce higher, this is why its the Wily Capsule's Weakness
>X
Shit beyond like X2 which was already substantially worse than X1
>Zero
Haven't played N/A
>Legends
BEYOND garbage and I'm glad Legends 3 is canned
>BN
Based
Man, I hope they add some neat secrets in 12.
The things that could be done with the robot masters' weapons (like stopping the fire in Torch Man stage with Tundra Man's weapon or trivializing half the the shit on Blast Man stage with Torch Man's) were pretty cool, but I would really like if they added secret stuff like in 7.
I don't want Mega Man 12 at all and I say this as someone who adored 11. Capcom needs to show some real faith in the series, which will by extension bring in new fans. I unironically want a fully 3D reboot with sick designs like pic related
So now that the entire megaman franchise as a whole is dead, what did we think of it?
>dead
We got 11 less than a year ago, and it was pretty good too.
I would like a fully realized 3D Megaman (with Co-op) too, it's not like it would be too hard either if it's based on the gameplay of the NES games, that would need a budget and Megaman can't have that though.
Plenty of game franchises have decent shovelware being released
I was also thinking about Capcom doing a new sub-series (that isn't a fucking pachinko) since Zero and BN ended and it's been years since ZXA.
But it seems like they are trying to get on the fan's good side by playing it safe, so it will probably take a while before they try something new.
I want a game where Leviathan can give me a lap dance
Lmao not gonna happen even in a game loser
Nice.
3 was my high point, rented it way too much
4 was meh
5 was 4, but better
>5 was 4, but better
redpilled
5 was ass
Deadest series
And 11 was top tier shovelware.

Why did mml3 getting cancelled shock anyone?
The reason for its cancellation was completely internal to Capcom
MM5 is one of my favorites (MM9 and MM Unlimited being top), people who complain about it being too easy are just tryhards.
Based af
>5 was 4 but better
>This game is fucking garbage
You'll get a Power Fighters 3 and you'll love it.
Id actually be ok with that
I played it a few weeks ago, for what it was it had an insane amount of content, when I went in I just expected a collection of a ton of user submitted levels, didn't find out that one of the judges was a furry until I went through all the unlockable costumes. I didn't read the level reviews past the first area so maybe I missed something
Mega Man 4 was one of the first NES games my parents bought me, and my first Mega Man game. Thus, it's special to me and one of my favorite games of all time. In short, OP can suck a cock.
False. That would be MM3. Now, the tempting choice is to pick number 2, but then you have to remember that everyone just used metal blade and played through it on easy mode, which is why even non-gamers look back on 2 with fondness. But for the big boys, for those of us in the know, MegaMan 3 is the top of the line boyo.
>new PF with MM8-11 robot masters
I need this
1, 9 and 11 are for real patricians if you count the whole of classic
Fuck you
You meant to say mm3improvement, right?
How to tell Western "anime" art and actual anime art apart 101.
>Collecting life and weapon enegery is instant, rather than 1 pixel at a time. It does not stop megaman's movement.
who wants this
Good mostly because it is balls easy. OST is obviously killer too.
Mega Man 5 is the one game where I always forget the music, if you played me a MM5 track I couldn't immediately tell you where it's from.
Skullman in 4 motherfucker. I’m gonna assume that was a typo because if you can’t assign every robotmaster from 1-11 (I’ll be lenient on M&B) to their proper games you have no right to talk about classic series.
Hm, not the case for me. Wave, Charge, Gravity, Star, Napalm I can all play in my head. And of course Darkman.
Maybe he meant Doc Robot. It never shows his name in the game itself, and he has a skull for a head. It's understandable why someone would assume his name was Skull Man.
Mm, fair.
>10 in SSS
you're my nigga.
>9 not being at least the best of the post-revival games
user...
They look the same to me
I just beat IV and yeah it was pretty bad compared to the previous 3. Just finished all the robot masters in V and having a lot of fun though. The level design, art, and music is top notch here.
I thought 3 was the contrarian’s opinion. It is also actually the best.
>this taste
3 is better than 2 in every way except the level where you need Rushjet.
>MM3 an improvement
>The glitchy, unfinished, rush job of a game that steals over half of its bosses from MM 1&2.
4 ain’t perfect, but at least it’s, its own game.
It has at least a great opening cinematic.
Flash Stopper is way better than Time Stopper anyway it can be used 7 times with a full bar and while doesn't stop stage hazards, stops most of the enemies, and you can also shoot while activated.
>4 is bad in comparison to 1
>But apparently 5 is good
>Music top notch
>in 5
Don’t be a fuckin idiot man 5 has great tunes throughout. Not bashing 4’s though. Though I do find the actual “sound” of the songs kind of weird.
Don't forget that 7 actually has weapons that bosses are "strong" against.
If you hit Spring Man with the Thunder Bolt, he will become magnetically charged with electricity (just like how you can charge the Wild Coil), grab you, and slam you into the ceiling for massive damage.
And if you hit Freeze Man with the Freeze Cracker in the rematch, he will pause the action, strike a pose, and recover a chunk of health.
The Flash Topper is fantastic though. You can merk the shit out of all the mini bosses in the game, and a lot of hazards are stopped by it. It also can be used way more often and you can use the buster alongside it
Time stopper is good at one thing, stopping hazards, and one boss.
I liked it, personally I felt the mega buster didn't invalidate the other weapons since the other weapons still let you fire at other angles. Charge Kick was kino.
>5 has great tunes throughout
Dude... I like 5 a lot more than most people, but I couldn’t even hum a verse from that game at gunpoint
If there's any of the Mega Man games which lacks in the sound department, it's 6. Even then, it still has a few bangers.
I loved power fighters. Who was your main?
God 7 is kino. That and the Ghost and Goblins Easter egg are why it’s so underrated
Apparently it was also made in 3 months, that true?
>>Flash Stopper in general doesn't actually stop jack shit if you test it throughout the game while Time Stopper would stop entire stage hazards and even Wily Castle bosses in their tracks
The flash stopper doesn't stop time, it blinds robots.
>In no other MM game did the health filling completely drown out the music.
It does in 2 at least. I remember that you can't hear the entire boss intro until the final boss because of it.
Cmon guys, let’s admit that even the worst Mega Man games have some killer tunes
Except the DOS ones. We never speak of them
Darkman is so fucking memorable! YouTube it right now you fuck.
It’s true. Even X7, the poster child of shit, has an awesome soundtrack.
You guys should try Mega Man 4 Voyage, it's a recent ROMhack that came out and it makes many huge changes such as boss AI and new enemies/gimmicks but is more orthodox than Minus Infinity in terms of sticking to the Mega Man formula.
I mean, Darkman is a great movie but what does that have to do with Mega Man?
But is it good?
What I mean is, is it as good as Minus Infinity?
My favorite track
youtu.be
Skullman has a badass design and a shit actual fight.
Like, with his design I would expect a better strat from him than just running from side to side with a barrier.
It's not like the weapons are useless, I like Gravity Hold and Gyro Attack, Napalm Bomb is also nice, the real problem is that the Mega Buster is overpowered it kills everything in one or two fully charged shots, while other weapons take at least 3 or 5 shots to kill the toughest enemies.
Time Stopper is cooler conceptually but never made sense to me (like a lot of things in Mega Man). Does it stop all time or just time in a local area? And isn't it paradoxical for a device which stops time to have a time limit on its usage?
I'm a firm believer that you can't have a good Mega Man game without a good soundtrack. I just think that 6 has fewer memorable tracks than the others.
I liked 4. It was the last game where the plot of "Someone besides wily is responsbile" actually could be taken halfway seriously, and it introduced the charged shot BEFORE the charged shot became OP as fuck.
The charged shot in 4 felt well balanced and I liked its look and design. Compare 5's OP as fuck giant ass charged shots to 4.
I rank the top 5 games as: 3, 2, 10, 4, 12
It's pretty good, I don't think it'll disappoint. Worth a try, I'd say.
>Quick Man is moving at light speed
>Quick Man is affected by powers literally turning him inside out as his body reacts like being ripped apart by a black hole while he’s forced to watch, helplessly, stunned in time
I wouldn't mind if time stop weapons in the future functioned like 12's Speed gear.
But then again, I bet capcom's going to try and have every game after 12 have the two gear system (despite power gear being irrellevent for everything but subweapons since speed gear actually does its job better with the regular buster)
5 is my favorite because I suck at Mega Man and 5 is the easiest for me. It's also the only one I had as a kid
>That text blurb
Either I don't know shit about physics or Ariga is high as fuck
I mean, 3 and 4 aren’t that hard either (except for the Doc Robot parts)
2 on Normal is pretty easy too.
5's plot should have been 4's plot, it would have made more sense and been more believable, since Wily supposedly died in 3 and 3 introduced protoman.
Protoman betraying wily and then taking over the reigns as the main villain would have been much, MUCH more believable as 4's plot but by 5 you knew it wouldn't be protoman and would just be wily framing him.
>Quick Man getting destroyed by his own body becoming a gravity well.
What the fuck, Wily?
>Reducing the speed of light alters how time works!
Umm... I know relativity exists, but I don't think that explanation for time stopper makes any fucking sense.
If that was all you needed to do to slow time then fucking WATER would slow time around it.
I think a better question is "Wily, why the fuck would you make two robots who explicitly break each other when used near each other?"
This is like having your TV fry your computer if you move them too close to each other.
Who level touched you, OP? Which one led you to this? Was it Pharaoh Man or Ring Man's stage? You're upset over the hippo, aren't you?
why the hell did they fuck up Pharoahman's power and fighting style in the fighting game when he is literally one of the coolest/best robots in the series with an awesome power?
I think the better question is why doesn’t Wily use his ability to create FTL robots and Time Manipulation for more than just fucking with Mega Man. Like, surely you could try to mass produce the speed machine to fuck over the planet instead of creating shit like Wood Man.
Also, does this imply that Mega Man can react to Light Speed since he can tag Quick Man in a fight?
Flash Stopper makes the hippo a joke.
>Pharaoh Man
What's wrong though? That's where you the the balloon and skip some part of the stage
Didn't he manage to make a time machine at some point? Maybe after he tried to use that shit to get advanced technology and the best he could come up with was "megaman on a goddamned pogo-stick" he just gave up on Speed of light tech in disgust.
I fucking knew it was gonna reference that shit in some form
The fact that Wily was really only a competent threat was when he was long dead never ceases to amuse me.
Or the fact that his greatest creation ironically spent its entire existence trying to undo his plans.
I love megaman 1-11 theyre all special in their own way
I dont like the megaman x series, nothing wrong with it, it just doesnt appeal to me
>Cossack 2
Eat shit OP
Well, half the games are mediocre or shit. At least classic is consistent
I got over my hang ups with Megaman X and tried it again and it just felt like more Megaman, which was very good. The wall clinging took a while to get used to, but from then on, it was par for the course.
X 1-4 are the only ones I tolerate.
X8 is pretty good
8 is better than 4
Yeah, consistently average, that is.
So, why was it garbage? Try to open with that instead of a tirade of ad hominems and stupid bullshit nobody needs to read. My favorite one was Megaman 2 because of the cool bosses and music. Was that garbage too?
X4 is solid but overrated and X3 is extremely mediocre. X5 is underrated and X8 is solid.
Is it better to be consistently good, with a few higher tier games, or have 2-3 games that are fantastic, but like 4 that are mediocre, and 2 terrible ones.
Isn't it ironic that Dr. light would spend his entire life trying to, for all intents and purposes, recreate the very first robot he ever made?
He never was able to make a fully sapient robot like protoman until the very end of his life.
I prefer 3 over 2 mainly because I don't like the bosses of 2. ( Gator and Moth)
1 is great but the easiest.
...
I actually fucking hate this romhack. It just tosses enemies at you nonstop and expects you to be impressed cause of the shit it adds/the scale of the changes.
>Just figured this out
IF FLASH MAN SLOWS THE FLOW OF TIME
TO BE SLOWER THAN HIS OWN SPEED
RELATIVELY SPEAKING
HE DISAPPEARS TO THE OBSERVER
AND THOSE AROUND HIM APPEAR TO STOP IN TIME
HE'S JUST FUCKING WITH THE RULES OF RELATIVITY ON A TECHNICALITY
slows the speed of light*
fuck I got too caught up in the moment
Play Mega Man 4 Voyage it also makes large-scale changes but is an orthodox Mega Man game(same physics & mechanics, same design philosophy, reasonable difficulty)
2 > 6 > 5 > 9 > 4 > 3 > 7 > 1 > 8
That game is ass
>10 and 11 that high
Good
I might give it a try, user. Been a while since I've tried out a fun romhack.
Don't forget to play Rockman 7 FC, guys, it should do a lot to alleviate the mixed feelings you had about 7.
10's good user.
At what point did the X series start to fall apart?
No one wants to admit it, but X4 is when the cracks starts to show
5
after 5 and 6 they kind of struggled to find a way to keep it going due to the Series being basically building up to leading into the Zero series.
Its hard to make a narrative arc for the games after 5/6 when the zero series has it chained in stone. (One reason I think they really need to just declare all the X games after a certain point, like after Axel and Copy reploids get made) an alternate branching timeline or something.
When it was first conceived because it dropped quirky enemies and coherent level design in exchange for dull enemies and precision platforming
this, though X5 is so bad that X6's new unfinished gameplay is actually fun
and yet X never has an original or deviant thought in the entire series (maybe you could count his MMZero personality, though)
4 had some great visuals for its time, and the stages were pretty decent. The story and voice acting were the only real crimes. And we all know for a fact the story has always been pretty bad from the start of Megaman.
this is the canon tier list. feel free to yell at it, but it won't change anything
Well that's kind of what happens when you slam a free willed individual into a brainwashing chamber for 30 fucking years.
its like, "Jesus light, you wanted him to be free willed JUST so you could have the satisfaction of brainwashing a sapient being rather than just programming them?"
>and yet X never has an original or deviant thought in the entire series
Didn't X want to kill Zero at the X3 epilogue screen?
What they were thinking?
nah, that was the narrator saying that the two of them would have to fight in the future.
They thought it's be a cool reference to Megaman 1 especially with Tri Thunder and the Wily logo in the background.
The entireity of the final area was literally built by dr. wily or a doctor wily AI, it makes perfect sense for there to be a Rockmonster boss.
Its like how Sigma's body was literally just a rebuilt gamma with his head on it that Wily made for him.
One of the best things about Megaman & Bass is that most robot masters give you different experiences depending on who you choose. I always feel Pirate Man is a kick in the balls with Megaman, because it's difficult to pop his shield, but with Bass is a total cakewalk.
So how do you think they should differentiate megaman and protoman in games where they're playable?
its easy with Bass, but you basically have to gut Megaman (No slide, no charge) to make him and megaman different.
Rock have easy bosses, Bass have easy stages.
But Bass buster dealing 1 point of damage and trigger the i frames right on first shot is horseshit.
Where's Mega Man 10 and the GB games?
Damn right I will.
So dr. light makes a girl robot to be his housekeeper.
Kind of sexist, isn't it?
Didn't play them.
it's almost like taste is subjective
I don't know, I was never a fan on how they do it in MM9 and MM10. I would make some changes, For example make the P. Buster upgradable in the shop so he can charge faster and make the buster have bigger shots (like in Megaman 5 and 6) instead of the small size charge shot from MM4. Retain the double damage, but make his shield more useful (like in MM7 or the dash move from the arcade games.) Finally, let him use the "L Tank" from MM5 and make that sort of a prototype new tank that can stock unused life energy like the X series.
no it's not
Well Rock was also built with similar purposes, the only differences being Roll was a bit of a coward, wich may seem sexist too, but then again they're not fighting robots after all.
Bass can cut most of the bosses like a hot knife through butter with his buster upgrade.
no u
I want a remake of the Gameboy games, MM7 style. And a remake/sequel of The Wily Wars.
Turn him into Protoman.exe with a laser sword?
>mega man is almost 33 years old
I like the Mega Buster addition, but IV just feels janky to me. Also I hate how it introduced autoscrollers to the series
reusing old boss moves is a fucking cool thing and more megaman games should do that.
I'd kill for a megaman 12 with 16 robot masters.
3>2>9>4>7>1>10>6>5>8
Have yet to play 11
>Not a fan of most robot master designs
I think they're brilliant. According the the story of MegaMan 4. Cossack's robot masters are designed to be scientific robots, only Skullman and Ringman are designed with the sole purpose of fight Megaman. Despite this, the robot masters agree to fight in order to save Kalinka. You can feel it in the game, a robot with such a simple task like Dustman stands no chance against a fighting robot like Megaman, but they try nevertheless.
Fascinating, I always thought that the GB games felt cramped, but I never realized it was proportionate to MM7. I want Super Mega Man Maker
8>2>5>6>11>7>3>4>10>9>1
>I want Super Mega Man Maker
Literally exists already and gets updates frequently
Fuck you. 4 is great. Pharaoh Man is best man.
The ultimate pleb filter. It's easily the most well designed and interesting game in the classic series. Imagine not liking the jet ski ride in Wave Man's level, or collapsing the tower around yourself for Dark Man 4.
>or collapsing the tower around yourself for Dark Man 4.
I agree.
Can we all agree that Street Fighter x Mega Man was shit?
MM7 is so cool.
Never played, but as a fan game, you really can expect quality
X5. I hated it so much X6 felt like an improvement.
There are some fan games that are better than some of the actual games, like Rock Force, Quint's Revenge, Unlimited, and Super Fighting Robot
