I mean it was not great all around but with friends it is a fucking blast
Same could be said for most games but still, great co-op game
Your abortion
>obsidian fanboys are STILL seething
Crazy
Nothing, one of the best games I played this year. Only minus was the gay forced scene...
Whats wrong with it?
>What went so right?
FTFY.
>Shillers of Eternity fanboys still crying
Nothing? It's overwhelmingly praised
>gay forced scene
wat
third act
stat system and initiative are shit. combat is generally good tho.
>The "better" writing just being an excuse to imitate the even worse PoE writing with prose that tries to sound smart and keeps bombarding you with the most unecessary phrases, tangle of words and boring descriptions.
>Incredible fucked pacing, no buildup and no real town sequences like DoS 1.
>Influx of teleport shit making tactical positioning and terrain basically unnecessary as everyone just jumps around freely.
>Artstyle completely generified with absolute none of the fairy-tale like aestethic of the first game that fit the more funny than serious world of Rivellon much better
>forced
It's all on you, gaynon
Not him, but Red Prince randomly fucked me when I was Fane
I think it depends on your dialogue choices. I was playing as Fane and fucked the elf girl.
Why did you flirt with the dude?
You're telling me this whole scene where the companions invite you before the big fight to their chambers "for a talk" is not forced? I had a good pal to pal, scientist with scientist relationship and suddenly the dude want's to show me his hidden dagger? Sorry, not buying this.
It's literally all on you. You've selected blatantly flirty dialogue.
same thing happened to me with beast
I think the game locks you into sex if you complement one of the characters on the boat. Just shitty writing
It ended
I didn't mean to
Maybe I am just autistic and misunderstood a dialogue choice or something
>I mean it was not great all around
Yes it was though
I wouldn't recommend a first PT with co-op unless you play with someone that plays at exactly your pace
Everything described in this video:
That must be harsh autism because it is pretty much impossible to not see the flirty dialogue in this game as anything but "please put your dick in me"
>sex if you complement
Yep, that was probably the whole problem. I simply talked and took my dialogues for a friendly conversation not some flirt. I had to reaload the whole sequence to calm down the Red Prince as he was horny as fuck, he realy wanted Fanes boner kek
I remember when Obsidian players said this game would bomb
yikes.
Damn boy, you have to double check which dialogue option you pick
I think you boys just found out something special about yourselves today
You fucking faries
When you found out your a fag through a video game
My only complain that sometimes the game feels like there isn't a main quest to follow and everything you could do is secondary.
Like you have to obtain the other 2 source points, you are obligated to just do 2 different side quests that gives them to you, no one in particular order or certain quests has to be done to get those points.
The armor system and balance is pretty wonky. Get cucked by a lizard again. There's always more room for more varied character paths in these type of games. Otherwise it's pretty good.
Is this worth playing alone for the story? Is it the best MMO currently to play with casual friends ?
>MMO
Retard
the armor system is just so fucking awful
the only thing what went wrong is not enough perks for characters but other then that its a amazing game
try the divine war mod, it gets rid of it
Armour. It all boils down to DPS'ing the fuck out of every enemy untill you break physical armour and than using knockdown arrows.
Literally just install the Divine War mod and the game is significantly better.
What is it then? I fucking dancing game?
A crpg, retard.
>MMO
>Massively Multiplayer Online
Jump of a cliff.
I fucked the demon possessed bitch as fane. Stoo flirting with men you fag.
I didn't flirt with him, nigga, I just complimented him and he got calcium fever
How is that mod?
Was thinking of starting a new playthrough with it.
Nothing, easily in the Top 3 of the modern cRPG renaissance. Yea Forums is just full of contrarians and genuinely underaged consolekiddies.
It's shit, only ADD fags use it.
Nothing.
It's an interesting new approach for a second playthrough but it's in no way "superior", just different.
it's okay, you can take a look at its mod page to get a better understanding of it, but just look at this for an example, it's not the second coming of christ but it's a fun time if you want a new playthrough
Played through it with 2 parties. first was with a friend where we made black characters, and made it our goal to steal as much shit as possible, it didn't matter if it was valuable we just needed to steal it. He maxed out sneak and thievery as a dwarf and I maxed out strength to carry the loot as human. my second play-through was a more serious singleplayer party consisting of the premade characters. all in all I think it's a pretty good game.
I think it's better than the base game.
Magic is no longer straight up inferior to physical when you're far in the game, you aren't punished for going multiple damage types and most physical builds no longer just max warfare.
Maxing skills beyond the point of the skill requirement of your skills is useless now unless you want the mastery.
>crpg
>Computer
>game is on consoles
>you have to pay a monthly subscription
>massively multiplayer online
Sure. Whatever makes you feel special, faggot But you're not going to convince me you're not the one who's going full retard here.
So the mod is for brainlets who don't understand the benefits of mixed parties.
So by your logic your mother is an mmo cause people pay her monthly to fuck her as well.
your taste
Oh fuck I thought I was on the FFXIV thread. My bad, I apologize for calling you a retard, user.
it's not random you brick, learn to use dialogues lmao
I know its all wacky and nothing matters too much since you are a god and dimensions and planes or whatever but the campy stuff does grind a little bit
Honestly my only gripe is how underwhelming the "roleplay" aspect of the game turned out to be, much like in Divinity 1.
I get that the team is not the biggest, so it's not a huge shock, but the fact that literally nothing matters in your choices, and no character you meet along the way ever returns except a couple of very secluded instances unless you literally drag them to your ship, is kinda whatever.
I mean I can literally genocide everyone in chapter 1 as soon as I am done with it, and it doesn't matter because everyone that comes with you either dies anyways or never shows up again.
Your companions will not even blink or complain as you murder civilians in the most chucklefuckey ways possible, there are no repercussions either beyond the "ebil magisters" trying to bring you to jail, which you can easily murder as well for no drawbacks, either.
By the end of the game you can just do the whole RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON?! choice and still be heralded a flawless saint, which is a bit disappointing.
Don't get me started on how absolutely pointless their "racial wars" thing turned out to be. Not only does none of that have an impact on anything, your race eventually doesn't matter for shit and you can get all quests regardless, with meaningless deviations.
fantasy apparently is just having regular boring real world sights but with flesh blobs on trees and goats that roflcopter in voice. Would've been 100% better with weirder zones to explore and dungeons that weren't just infested with 80% humans 20% thing
>>Artstyle completely generified with absolute none of the fairy-tale like aestethic of the first game
But the first game was absolutely generic as fuck, it looked exactly like WoW, there was nothing fairy-tale like either, in that sense D:OS2 is much better as it at least has SOME sense of identity to it, still don't like how women look beyond repulsive, but that's western devs for ya.
I agree with the rest completely, but saying D:OS2 didn't up their game when it comes to artstyle is just wrong, one of the very few things that make me not disregard this mess entirely is that in fact, it looks pretty good, having your character portrait be a snap of your model instead of some garbage drawing that doesn't even look like your character was also a pretty wise decision.
In some sense the roleplay is even worse than D:OS1, at least in there you had a system that defined your characters' traits dynamically, and also gave you a tiny bit bonuses depending on how your characters turn out depending on your behaviour.
Nothing you do matters either way, but at least it gave you a vague feeling that you're indeed shaping your character through the game, D:OS2 you can just do whatever and say whatever, get conflicting tags while genociding villages and have people slob on your dick, it's a fucking mess, even worse than the average CRPG, fucking Gothic 1 had less RP elements than D:OS2 and what very little it had was still more coherent than anything in D:OS2.
>"your race gives you access to different quests!"
>gives you a mask that allows you to turn into any race of your choice one third into the first act
What is the fucking point, Divinity
I love getting Hero and Villain tags. At the same time. I also love being rewarded for completing a quest then murdering the person I just helped for nothing negative whatsoever, just extra exp and items.
>come across persuasion check
>teleport back to boat, use infinite free respec to get max persuasion
>pass check, teleport back, re-equip 20 wits spec
>find secret
>find fight
>teleport back and respec to combat mode
what the fuck were they thinking?
Writer was so desperate to make an "epic classic" that he didn't bother to cover his bases, and all that's leftover is a tryhard narrative hitting as many awful cliches as possible.
Gameplay-wise, the armor/magic resist system is completely busted and just results in damage-sponge enemies. Enemies don't have stats, they just have fixed numbers, so even if you have the best possible gear at a level, an enemy of that level will still do 2-3x more damage than you because that's the only way they could make progression work.
What
It’s all so tiresome
>get to the end of an act
>game blatantly tells you that you won't ever be coming back to this area
>just go kill all the NPCs for a shitton of cash and loot you can sell at the beginning of the next chapter.
>so even if you have the best possible gear at a level, an enemy of that level will still do 2-3x more damage than you
uh, no. if you have the best possible gear for your level you curbstomp everything in your path except shit like alice alisceon or whatever the witch's name was.
Same thing as all crpgs. No automatic stat assignment on level up for companions.
The player should only be assigning the stats of their avatar character.
Armor making crowd control useseless, which is around half the available spells.
Too many NPCs are either about to die or asking for a mercy killing. Most quests feel useless because they all end up the same way.
>gay forced scene
user, you lost at gay chicken. You can't select the homo flirty options as a joke anymore.
>What went so wrong?
Nothing, it made nuObsidian its bitch and now papa Microsoft had to step it to save them.
>you should have less control over your party
>they knew that the Armour system was shit
Good, hope they'll come with a better solution on their next projects.
The whole fighting system, and that you can't actually roleplay.
Does anyone have the link to that blogpost where the guy critiques the game in-depth?
They could easily fix that if they added that you can switch between characters in conversation for example.
Why is the first game so much more memorable than the second? What happened?
Front-loaded like most games these days.
Still pretty good.
Nothing. This is genuinely one of the most fun RPGs I ever played in a very long time. Had a fucking blast. Especially with a friend.
I had fun with it for the odd 200 hours I played it, but most of them was spent restarting in Fort Joy, and I only beat it once.
I wish I had friends.
Yes.
It should at least have an option for doing it automatically.
First game had a more believable setting.
Second game is an apocalyptic hellhole. Everyone wants to kill each other. Everyone wants to kill you. There's no law or good will, all the people in charge are corrupt and every single living being is just a different kind of bad. It's tryhard as shit and it completely kills your immersion early in the game because a society with nothing but complete shitheads would fall apart long before you got to the point of the cosmic end-times.
>DOS 1 looks like it was drawn out of a medieval fairy tale grimoire, perfectly fitting to the happy and cheerful and mystical style of the world and narration. Unique and colourful.
>DOS 2
Generic washed out colours and PBR approach completely robbing the game of any identity it had. It does fit the equally shitty writing tho.
>tryhard narrative hitting as many awful cliches as possible
Name them.
>everyone good is actually bad!
>evil authoritarian police that has no ideals or goals other than just staying in control so they can be the antagonists
>random schmucks are actually the chosen ones and they have to kill god
>no one has any agency, they're just agents carrying out the will of a particular god or cosmic being
Imagine being such a fucking contrarian that you think OS1 is the better game. Shit, look at this fucking mongoloid , he's even saying that the artstyle of the first one is better. Where the fuck are "generic washed out colours" in the second game you god damn retard?
Game was Awesome, Op went wrong
There were things I didn't like though
Act 4 felt rushed and kinda bugged
Plot armor for certain Npcs
Bad balance of RP skill checks
Completely off key planning to beat some bosses like Alice Aliceon didnt feel natural
I agree
Nice argument.
>>everyone good is actually bad!
Not true apart from literally 2 characters in the entire game.
>>evil authoritarian police that has no ideals or goals other than just staying in control so they can be the antagonists
Almost every single guard and higher up you meet has a very different perspective of what is going on in the world and how their order functions. Some see it as a necessary evil, some think the order is genuinely good, others are psychopaths.
>>random schmucks are actually the chosen ones and they have to kill god
Except many of the "chosen ones" die a pointless death.
>>no one has any agency, they're just agents carrying out the will of a particular god or cosmic being
Almost all of your companions have their own agendas, reflected in their quests and general writing.
Did you even play the game?
>Everyone wants to kill you.
Yeah this is kinda what got me. There's so many "gotcha" choices, you start actively looking for the stupidest option and that ALWAYS winds up being the "correct" one. It made sense on the prison island where everyone's just trying to make it through the day, but it quickly became fucking absurd once you got into the world and it's the exact same thing, every single NPC trying to stab you for your pocket lint.
It's a very fun game, you can tell where all the effort went with regard to level design. The first area fucking tight, the second area is big but less competent and the final island is a fucking shitshow. I really liked the character customisation, you are pretty free to do whatever you want in terms of making your character play a certain way. Dialog is alright, not on the level of say Baulders Gate, but decent enough that I didn't skip EVERY conversation.
OS2 is much more colorful than OS1, fact. Look at any screenshots of both games as evidence.
Honestly, it takes nothing to fix the armour system, just make it work like Doom where armour reduces a percentage of direct damage or like Unlimited SaGa where it reduces it dynamically based on its standard "HP" value and your defense related stats, so you also have a reason to keep replenishing your armor values.
Problem is that the armour system was never the real problem with D:OS combat, in fact it changes very little per se outside of making battle more drawn out and tedious than what it is already, after all they "rebalanced" it so you can't inflict a lot of status even with Torturer, so at least on paper, it kinda works, it makes sense.
The real problem is how the core flow of the combat in D:OS is beyond primitive, you cycle through six different colours of shut down or so and spam, there's no middle ground because who achieves the first shutdown wins, and too many statuses are the same exact thing while all the others that aren't shutdown are either useless or something you use to stall enemies to get your shutdown, the armour system in 2 fundamentally does nothing to fix this, it doesn't even sweep it under the rug.
This is without looking into how poorly implemented a lot of other mechanics are, from your basic equipment to positioning, which in D:OS2 just doesn't exist given how everyone can teleport around multiple times in a turn, elemental mats are also wildly misused and at this point I'd rather see them go because they're either completely useless or gamebreaking, and after Necrofire central in D:OS2 I'm really fed up with that shit, it's just a pointless gimmick.
I'm actually amazed they managed to turn an AP based system into such a shitfest since AP systems are created precisely to avoid spamming and give you actual, coherent resource management that also avoids the usual problem of refueling your stuff in a village before resuming steamrolling, it does take some talent to drive such a premise into the ground.
>Yes
How? In what universe is having complete build customization over the characters you control WORSE than having not being able to build them?
Was it really that hard for you to decide what stats/skills/perks you should invest in?
Who else won against their friends in the end? I rained arrows on the last guy standing and that was that.
>OS1 fanatic is here again
Oh boy, time to abandon the thread.
Nothing. It's a very fun and tactical RPG game with a good plot. Widely appraised. I only wish we had more races and classes to choose from.
And I hate these kinds of threads: "What went so wrong?"
Why don't you tell us faggot OP what did you find so wrong about this game?
It's amazing how he uses points that work in OS2s favor and just pretends they are actually from OS1.
According to epic game masters on Yea Forums the game is brown & bloom and less tactical than OS1.
Imagine having this much brain damage.
I honestly don't understand everyone's beed with the armor system. It has problems, mostly that it leads to snowvalling, but fixes the OS1 issue of "crowd control turn 1 and win". I'd rather more formulaic combat that requires actual strategy than just praying my RNG beats the opponent's RNG.
The only legit bad thing about the game is the dumbass zippering in combat. Makes initiative almost completely worthless when the turn order will exclusively alternate back and forth between your party and the enemies.
>What went so wrong?
The moment nine months before your birth
Get your eyes checked.
Gave me a giggle.
One year later, Oblivion is still butthurt.
>5m sales
>94% Steam rating
>10/10 score on gamespot
>had a cameo in a porno
>told epic to fuck off
Meanwhile Poopfire is only known as 'that gay sjw game'.
>not true
Everyone in the dwarven kingdom ("some humans suck, genocide now!" is not an excuse)
Everyone in the elven kingdom (Sahelia specifically, lmao gotcha literally plays out on-spot)
Everyone in the lizard kingdom ("I was mildly upset so I SOLD MY LIFE TO THE GOD ULTRADEATH" does not excuse this)
Every single person in command of a human faction except yours (The Doctor, The Paladins' leader, The Magisters, Lucian himself.)
Every single god
Every single eternal
Every NPC you can bring to your boat if you mildly upset them (succubus immediately tries to kill you, so does Hanag, and so does Tarquin.)
I'd say that's pretty more than a couple.
Why was that an issue? It was fun and you didn't always get the crowd control off as it was a pen and paper like saving throw. Combat had much less mobility too.
Both of this is absolutely true tho, it has a bland washed out generic artstyle and completely lost everything that made the first game so good. I bet you are on of these edgy ADD kids that complained they had to spend 30 minutes in a town and couldn't roleplay out their conflicted past with a palette this colourful.
are you the obsidian meltdown guy? have you finally returned to make posts like this 12 hours a day 7 days a week???
You are literally retarded if that's all you got out of the writing of these characters.
Imagine playing a game for children and not understanding the basic motivations kek.
>but fixes the OS1 issue of "crowd control turn 1 and win"
It literally doesn't, that's the problem.
Why would I be him if I'm on Swen's side?
Are you lying on purpose or did you really not get these characters and factions?
It literally does because that's what the armor is for.
Show me how OS2 is "bland washed out generic artstyle" in comparison to OS1.
>and completely lost everything that made the first game so good
Is that why basically everyone and their mom agrees that OS2 is the better game in every single regard? Yes, even on Yea Forums, the board notorious for its contrarianism.
Yes it does, brainlet. Armor keeps you from getting CCd instantly.
But it's literally the same artstyle just with updated graphics, what the FUCK are you talking about? Also in what world is OS1 "Stunlock then kill" more tactical than 2? Yes, you can stunlock in 2 too, but at least you have the armor system to make it a little bit harder.
>OS1
>stunlock turn 1 then dps
>OS2
>dps to destroy armor then stunlock
>enemy can actually restore armor and you can't necessarily destroy it turn 1 on everyone
>somehow OS1 is now more tactical because some dumb asshole on Yea Forums says so
Mostly good with a few major problems. Fortunately the game supports modding.
The numbers bloat is atrocious. You have to constantly be searching out new gear and it reduces a lot of the fights to stomp or be stomped. Just a 1 level difference is huge, a 2 level difference might be insurmountable. It encourages you to go genocide random NPCs for cash and throw roleplaying out the window to maximize XP gains.
The armor system doesn't work so great. It is an overreaction to the first Divinity: OS being so CC heavy. Problem is that it overnerfs CC. Combined with enemies that do way to much damage the best party is chock full of necromancer physical attackers. Mixing physical and magic becomes mostly pointless.
Basic motivations mean jack shit if there is no consecuence or drive for the characters' beyond "someone nuked/may nuke us at some point, so we went ballistic".
That is ALL there is to the writting of any race. The lizards being dragons and wanting to make more? Doesn't matter, it's irrelevant to the grand scheme of things which immediately invalidates their history as they effectively are just Source containers.
Elves being dominated by mother trees and seers? Doesn't matter, affects nothing except Sahelia's YEEEE RACE WAR FUCK LUCIAN by the end. Their whole literal personalities are self-victimization.
Dwarves and their "my fucking queen was fucking nuts, except she wasn't, just misguided, pray for her recovery" and everything boiling down to them being scared jews because Magister stuff?
Again, doesn't matter. Hell it literally doesn't matter if you gas the entire town, the game brushes it off as necessary evil so you "hopefully kill Dallis maybe", and that's that.
Their motivations are retarded and ineffective in any level because you never visit any of their civilizations, so all you get is a bunch of whiny cunts willing to nuke the entirety of the other races over petty shit, while you as the player consistently jump hoops far greater than what seemingly has driven all of these people to wild insanity without blinking an eye, and not through the use of any godlike shenanigans but just everyday tools everyone seems to have access to.
Literally everything bad far as antagonists go is just a muh God King will reward my absolutely retarded behaviour no doubt cope by the end, which is plainly lazy.
Why do you pretend there is something to get when there really isn't? Does it make you feel better to think you have seen a deeper layer that simply doesn't exist?
>It was not great
It was exactly great
Retarded Fucknuggets get your fucking eyes checked or buy the first game before you talk shit like that.
Let's compare the fucking grass alone.
>First shot is a town with a water fountain
>Second shot is a plaza with a statue of the god emperor of mankind
>Complaining about the texture of 2 tarps made of differing materials
Well according to every single person stands for the race as a whole, as if they had a hivemind, so yeah, I guess "nuanced" writing like this is already above some child brains in here.
>Everyone in the dwarven kingdom
Everyone who exactly? Because outside of the Queen(misguided by two other people) Mordus and her advisor (God king cronies) nobody is a bad guy, even a crook like Lohar is pretty reasonable.
>Everyone in the elven kingdom
Mostly right, Saheila singlehandedly made me wish I listened to my inner Garithos on my first playthrough, so much actually that I loaded an old save file specifically to gas the elves.
>Everyone in the lizard kingdom
Not true, only Sadha and the Shadow Prince are.
>Every single person in command of a human faction except yours
Depends, really, Kemm was also chosen by the God King much like "Dallis", that's the whole point, and Kemm was only chosen after Windego jobbed that much, could have been handled better but that's how it is, Windego also has a potential redemption arc in the end, which is considerable for her character.
Besides, the doctor ain't even human and the game isn't even subtle about it, I'd argue about Lucian being evil as well, though I agree that humans being painted as literally hitler was pretty forced, having all non human magisters being martyrs was really obnoxious.
>Every single god
Xantezza specifically tells you to not trust the other gods.
>Every single eternal
But nobody painted the eternals as good guys? Even Fane's an asshole.
>Every NPC you can bring to your boat if you mildly upset them
Wew lad, no wonder people become hostile if you offend them.
>It literally does
It literally doesn't because
>Teleport is a thing
>You can easily deplete armors and proc shutdowns in barely even a round
>There's many battles that are your party vs one or two dudes or where killing the leader ends the battle
>Terrain Transmutation with Lava/Deathfog is an instakill, and you can spam it even outside of battle, you can clear 90% of the battles in two turns by having two people with terrain transmutation, skin graft, teleport and netherswap.
>Barrelmancers
Look at this retard lmao.
>Both screens are from the respective starting areas in the same beach lighting at day with clear weather
>One is obviously washed out and has a completely different and browner/darker colour palette
>I CANT BE WROOONG REEEE
>>You can easily deplete armors and proc shutdowns in barely even a round
Except there are many fights where you can't do it on turn 1, which is the point of the discussion. Everything else you said applies doubly so to OS1.
fpbp
Nice Argument
You don't know what "washed out" means.
What fights? I never saw a single one where I couldn't.
You deserve to be raped for playing Fane
Stop lying.
>co-op in a text heavy rpg
Why. The combat was fun, but having to wait for my retarded friends to slowly read through stuff or optionally going "nah I don't want to read lol, let's just kill him" was ass. I enjoyed a solo experience much more.
join lgbt if you need rainbows in your life, queer.
You guys realize that it's the same guys who drones on and on about the "superior" OS1 in every single thread, right?
How is this a bad thing?
>Except there are many fights where you can't do it on turn 1
Maybe if you suck at the game, and the few fights where you can't do it mean nothing when they're piss easy either way, the entire meta doesn't change one bit and taking one more turn to do the same exact thing you do in one for a bunch of exceptions changes little to nothing.
I mean, you can instakill Trompdoy and all his clones with just three AP without even moving if you want, and this is in act one where you don't even have broken stuff like terrain transmutation, that's the extent of how broken this game is.
>I only play mature games for mature gamers like me so I can self insert into the world and play out the witty dark life I always dreamed off where I am met with great fear and respect over my mysterious appearance. People will turn away their glazes as they hear me mutter the names of each person I killed and will kill in the future I shape. I AM - THE DARKNESS.
>Must be the same guy
>There's no way people can like OS 1 more than OS 2
>My opinion is absolute and I'm totally not autistic
>and taking one more turn to do the same exact thing you do in one for a bunch of exceptions changes little to nothing.
Still better. You have no argument if you even agree to this.
Do you literally shit yourself in fear and anger when you play an actually edgy game?
>Still better.
How is it better when it makes the same exact mindless spam needlessly longer?
>a crook like Lohar is pretty reasonable.
Let's be honest, if we are going to go for the actual characters, Lohar makes drug slaves out of half the town for profit and giggles and the game brushes it off as "it's okay because humans suck" (almost literally if you break in to murder his cronies keeping people hooked on drugs), so his reasonable qualities don't exactly make him a good guy just because he isn't partial to chemical warfare.
>Lizards
But it's technically true; they are garbage. Any epilogue in which they are standing in sort-of good shape has everyone in their kingdom band together to try and kill every other standing race/subdue them and take control immediately while the crisis is ongoing.
Hell their whole driving point is "we were so cool when we were dragons, genociding people for fun. we should go back to those times, totally unfair we got punished."
They are a garbage race with no redeemable traits beyond being the military brainwashed gooks.
Sadha going full retard didn't help.
>Xantezza
When she tells you that, she is doing so in order for you to fuck up a puzzle. She is right, but at the same time knows she is literally the god of lies and you will not believe her. She makes no effort to give you any tangible proof of the buildup beforehand despite being perfectly able to if she wanted to.
>Eternals
In that case I am mostly referring to the storyline going "oh my god the void is evil", "wait no it isn't poor eternals", "wait yes it is, fuck eternals!", "wait no-" basically four times. It's pretty shit that it turns out to be just a "no wait, they in fact were assholes except the literally Hitler lady, bet you wanna side with her now, huh!"
You use the same arguments and a similar writing style. Also:
>this tent is brown but this tent is yellow
>if you don't see how that makes the game SOULLESS and EDGY GRIMDARK then you have autism
Because it's not mindless anymore if you can speed it up by being slightly more tactical in your approach, which is what you yourself implied in your post too.
Bought last week actually with 2 of my friends, main story is still uninteresting shit but dialogues are good, origin characters looks promising so far, the only thing i really hate is the AP limit, the rest is clearly superior to 1
Are you stuck as a teenager?
I literally never said anything of these 3 ridiculous moronic terms you just used to strawman against. Cope harder faggot.
nothing
>make sequel to already beloved game
>literally everyone, fans, critics and newcomers alike, shower the sequel in even more praise because it managed to improve in almost every single aspect
>two angry contrarians on Yea Forums go on a crusade to make OS2 seem like the biggest turd that ever existed while OS1 is a flawless masterpiece
Fucking nothing. Hang yourself, retard.
Reminder that Larian is the one studio that is fucking guaranteed to deliver top tier writing, be it dialogue, prose or general plot.
Go fuck yourself you fucking child.
And here I am replying to a bait.
FUCK YOU
You quite literally did though. Don't pretend not to be the same poster.
>Throw established Artstyle over board
>Questmarkers
>Universally hated Armor system
>Universally hated amount of teleports and mobility in Battle
>Even worse writing with special snowflake *does thing* - roleplay dialogue
>Pacing Issues
>Chosen one story - again
>Improved on "every single aspect"
>OS
>tactical
lmao
lmao
lmao
This. Pillars of eternity is the one that people are mixed on
Have they fixed this yet because this was far and away my GOTY when it came out until the pretty poor third act
OS 2 is a great game and I had incredible fun playing it but it's worse than 1 in almost every aspect and just as bad in certain other aspects without improving on it.
Case in point.
>t. brainlet
>literally half the thread is samefags
Idiotic fallacy that isn't even based on any argumentative ground.
>Lohar makes drug slaves out of half the town for profit and giggles and the game brushes it off as "it's okay because humans suck"
What in the world are you talking about?
Lohar gives very little shit about other races, his entire shop if filled with junkies, be them human, dwarves, elves or lizzies.
Those bunch of stoners in the field being humans means nothing when you go look at other races and it's the same, but with another pet race, hell, look at the magisters.
>But it's technically true; they are garbage.
Everyone's garbage.
Humans went full gestapo even against their own.
Lizards are slavers.
Elves are crazy tree people who want to rule the world.
Dwarves are just as racist as the others AND led by a proxy puppet of the god king.
>She makes no effort to give you any tangible proof of the buildup beforehand
Maybe because you've already had it by that point, the entire point of gathering source and speaking to your god in the previous chapters already served as a build up to tell you not to trust the gods, even your party members are ALL reluctant to serve their gods or downright speak ill of them, especially Sebille, Fane and the RP.
>It's pretty shit that it turns out to be just a "no wait, they in fact were assholes except the literally Hitler lady, bet you wanna side with her now, huh!"
I'd say that's what YOU think of the thing, the game makes it clear that the eternals were outplayed by a bunch of their own and cursed to the state they're in now, it's not meant to make them look like martyrs, but more like to explain how they became voidwoken and why they're so asshurt, it's a simple explanation and whether or not they're right it's up to you to decide since you can even side with them at the end.
>Because it's not mindless anymore if you can speed it up
You can "speed it up" in D:OS1 too, actually, the fact that you can't "speed it up" with dozens of different things only shows how less "tactical" D:OS2 is.
Not a bad thing overall but I liked OS1 linearity a little more, it's just a matter of preference.
>You can "speed it up" in D:OS1 too, actually, the fact that you can't "speed it up" with dozens of different things only shows how less "tactical" D:OS2 is.
Now you're just contradicting yourself.
>t. brainlet
>Now you're just contradicting yourself.
No sweety, you're just too dumb and pretending there's only one possible build in a ROLE PLAYING GAME and you MUST play that.
That's fine though, Larian caters to your kind pretty well after all, I'm sure you feel oh, so tactical while using your necro buffs to not die.
>I just can't.... I can't... I need colors! BRIGHT colors! *broadway musical musical starts playing* *twirls up into a ballerina spin* I NEED BLUUUUUUUE~! I NEED PIIIIIIIINK~! I NNED ORANGE AND RED AND YELLOW! For darkness.... makes me feel mel~low~! *prances from one side of the stage to the other* I need brightness~! Not nightness! Big sparkling eyeballs and politeness! And when the little boys come to sit on my lap, I'll sing them a song of roofies and naps and I'll wake them flowers from my magical sack - I NEED COLOOOOORS~!
Kek
How original.
>What are you talking about?
Addressing the NPCs in the druggie field cells has them telling you they keep mostly humans because they are shit at keeping stable and are easy picks.
The point wasn't humans, though. They are just garbage overall, and yes, indeed -
>everyone is garbage
- Which was the point. They are all garbage, and barely any faction or NPC provides any reasonable want for you to sympathize with them except, ironically, demons who straight forwardly side with or against you, with no drawbacks to the cooperation except the forced war against demons in the epilogue. In reality their are the most trustworthy faction in the game, which is hilarious and completely against what the game wants you to do in regards to them.
>Xantezza
I mean, sure, maybe - but again, all other gods are shooting visions everywhere. She could have tried to do as much, they could easily have written her as some sort of "extra" path rather than a "we didn't put playable goblins and orcs because fuck you" cameo with no real relevance. But they didn't, and instead made her pile an obvious hint way too late in your god's very bad "trust me goy it's all good" act.
>Eternals
Well, I mean. No. You can only side with them as Fane. The moment you do, they don't just return; they immediately enslave everyone.
They are shit too.
Which is, overall, the problem. None of these people are exactly something worth saving, for an RPG about becoming a holy symbol of guidance.
Around half the game my character should already have thought that much considering the attempts of murder from all directions keep piling. Why there is no option of "take all the source, fuck everyone up with it and go fight the void on your own with whoever you chose to bring with you because these people are garbage" choice but there is a "I will let this demon ascend, I am sure there will be no drawbacks." choice is beyond me.
>Armour system
>Min-maxing being the order of the day
>Every nigger and his dog being able to teleport so no point in using terrain advantages or formation based strategy
>pretty gay storyline (other than nuking the city)
those are my gripes. But i had an absolute blast playing with my two mates as skellies. I need more co op games where I can focus on stealing shit, scouting, lockpicking and getting rich instead of fighting.
On the flipside: Sebille or Lohse?
I'm going for my edgyfu.
honestly? its just too easy.
great magic system, but the combat is just completely trivialized in so many ways that it's not even worth it.
i wish it was more like xcom
Can never make her survive the meeting in Fort Joy. Bitch gets burn alive every time I have to read through her needle bullshit.
>plot armor for certain npc:s
I swear i still don’t believe Alexander is really dead. Given the things he came back from his molecules have probably reassembled somewhere, ready for the sequel.
imagine actually being autistic enough to do this
But you have to embrace her needle bullshit. And embrace the edgyness.
>barely any faction or NPC provides any reasonable want for you to sympathize with them
I don't see how that's bad though.
Besides, I could get behind Tarquin's agenda personally, but maybe you didn't, that's just the way it is.
You personally sympathize with the demons being more straightforward than the rest, I don't, that's your view on the matter, I always eradicate them because fuck demons, but I also eradicate lizzies, magisters and elves.
>She could have tried to do as much
How could she when Imps are pretty much dead? That would have been even worse since it would have rubbed off the laziness of not putting playable imps and orcs but still giving you special snowflake respect by their gods.
>None of these people are exactly something worth saving, for an RPG about becoming a holy symbol of guidance.
That's kind of the entire point of the game though, especially when you put it in the general lore perspective of the series.
Lucian is portrayed as a saint who could do nothing wrong, then you finally meet him in D:OS2 and you kind of think, "Well, maybe, just maybe Damian was right".
Sure, it might be a shitty subversion for the sake of it depending on how you see it, but that's the point of the entire game, and it does deliver well on that, it's a bit of a twist on the classic Ultima plot.
>Bitch gets burn alive every time I have to read through her needle bullshit.
Fucking this.
I left everyone else alive to drown, but that needle shit makes me despise her like no human being I've ever known.
Well, the next Divinity is going to be like that.
so i've heard.
what i REALLY want gone is the fact you can run in/out the edge of combat for fucking free turns
There was one thing in OS2 that was legit stupid I think we can all agree on
>before release they mention that playing an undead will be considerably more difficult since you'll have to disguise yourself, or else you get attacked on sight; even making one in creation prompts you with a warning
>in actuality all you have to do is wear ANY helmet and chest armor, despite most of them not concealing anything
>every essential NPC will say something like "Oh you're a skeleton, that's cool I won't judge you"
imagine being such an absolute pleb to exploit shit like that
what a fucking nigger
why would you even know this?
like, fucking seriously
it's not like this game is particularly hard, even on tactician
She's not human tho
>free turns
Yeah that. I try my best when that happens to not cheat and get the character back into combat asap.
>make sure every memester MC character dies in my playthrough, specially since they all fucking turn against you if they die and side with the god king
>sequel makes them all main characters anyways because fuck your choices
Alexandar should have been a tell on this.
No linux build
no u
>Forced
Imagine being this much in denial. Did the Red Prince force you to be his slave as well?
DOS2 is one of the most beautiful looking games of the last few years you absolute RETArd
Not him but it happened to me accidently quite a few times, my long range characters would disengage when certain enemies died, or I just tried to move them away from enemies I found threatening
Won't the next game feature an Undead insurrection-like scenario from what it showed in the trailer?
I can't wait to play a proper vampire-like character, although I know they will probably not implement it properly.
Definitive Edition is extra bad about this since characters will stop walking at the slightest hazard like poison, meaning they can easily be just out of reach for basically all fights, and disengage right after anything dies.
The next game is just an asset flip that's not even being bmade by Larian. I wouldn't expect too much from it.
>stunlock turn 1
>what are saving throws and immunities
Meanwhile, OS2 always forces you into the SAME playstyle of having to remove armor first. You can't even plan in what order your charatcers will act, since initiative is useless and it always alternates between player and enemy turns.
I want the red prince to force me to be his dragon egg incubator. I want him to pound me until I have to lay his eggs through my asshole like a bitch in heat.
>The next game is just an asset flip that's not even being bmade by Larian. I wouldn't expect too much from it.
Pleb detected. It's being made by the guys behind the Expedition games, which are some of the most interesting RPGs released in the last few years.
They have already shown improvements over DOS2 mechanics.
That's a thing too in the 1st game wasn't it? Why is it a problem now?
I know it's a spin-off. But it doesn't get developed by Larian? If not, by who then?
i want to work at larian some day faggots
my only dream
feelsbadman
how hard can it be r-right
just work hard and they'll hire me r-r-right
all characters in crpgs should be bi no matter what buuuuut that isn't real life stfu I would rather not here about how somebodys waifu is a dyke and seething over it
You're his wife now.
>i wish it was more like xcom
which character had the best personal quest, lads?
Not enough to stop the game from being exactly that. It's telling that the one big mod for the game bloated HP so it didn't completely dominate everything and that fucked up the game in its own right.
Probably Fane since he's the only MC that matters in the grand scheme of things.
Other than him, RP and maybe Lohse.
Ifan and Sebille are inconsequential and Beast might as well not exist.
You can have gay romance in-game
Same as Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Nothing wrong with having options as long as they're not forced.
Going in the bone zone with Fane or as an undead is puzzling though, what exactly are skellies supposed to do with that is beyond me.
Yeah. I remember once making a mythril-haired female cryomancer and I was surprised on the, literal, boning instance with Fane at the Vengeance. How does it work exactly?
I originally roleplayed her to be with based bro Ifan instead.
