What was your favorite classic levelling zone?
And if you could reach level cap in one zone, which would you call home?

How can someone be so WRONG
I always liked the barrens, mainly for the chat though, shit was fucking wild most of the time and made leveling really entertaining.
lol wut
cringe
This is to get you's, isn't it?
Quickly ftfy
Zone art is nice but I care more about what's in them. Reagents, pvp, helping others, etc, these are what I care about and will keep me in any zone. I don't think there is a single zone I dislike.
Feralas or Hinterlands
100% comfy
Winterspring. Still my favourite zone.
I should hate it, given how long I spent annoying the fuck out of myself to get the Winterspring Frostsaber back in the day (which Blizz then made a lot easier in Cata, pissing me the fuck off) but god I can't help but love the look of the zone and the music to it.
Kinda wish there was a lot more to it since it's technically in the Night Elf lands, but it's just sorta... there, and there's a Goblin town in it. Because fuck it.
You'd kinda think the Night Elves would've gotten a bit more all over it when the Horde were being pricks in Ashenvale and Azshara.
t. deathly afraid of seeing another player
ppl that like teldrassil literally need to be euthanised
for me, it's Thousand Needles, specifically the Shimmering Flats
I always saw it as the Sentinels being stretched too thin back in Classic especially after the Battle of Hyjal
No way full strength Nelfs would let the Gobbos rape Stonetalon as hard as they did
Why are you guys so excited for Classic? You can go back and play the exact same game, but it won't be the same because the community has drastically changed since vanilla was released. Because of that, it just won't feel the same.
pretty much. After the Third War there weren't enough Sentinels to assert control over all of the territory the night elves nominally owned, especially with the Legion's corruption still lingering and the Horde pushing into Ashenvale
The hinterlands.
I didn't like though that the end zones in Vanilla weren't BS./SG since they were next to the first raid. Winterspring was nice but doesn't feel like a final zone where the most powerful creatures in the world are hiding.
The Gnome/Goblin race track in Thousand Needles was always amazing to me, I loved everything about it and was probably the best place to see that whole engineering rivalry between the two races. The rest of Thousand Needles was boring as fuck though (maybe cause I'm Alliance).
Though the zone as a whole got better in Cataclysm, I kinda missed the racing aspect of it. The Gnome/Goblin barge they're on now is still amazing and hilarious to me since you can start a bar fight, but man... All they had to do was have Boat races now. But they don't. Damn shame.
Particapatory theory - institutions change social behaviours. The length it takes to level, the need for groups, the fact you have to run to a dungeon etc. crafts a community. It may never be 1:1 but private vanilla servers have way more of a community than modern wow servers.
>Though the zone as a whole got better in Cataclysm,
lol what, the only zone that Cata ruined harder than Thousand Needles is Westfall
I meant the community in a sense of how social media/internet has changed. But I do agree, not having dungeon finder alone is a bonus.
Un'Goro Crater is my home. I hated leaving it to level to 60.
Fuck the constant running up and down Darkshore but I loved the ambience. Zoram was also close and you can always find pvp skirmishes between groups going for BFD.
>you cant have fun if i say so
go eat a dick faggot
>Durotar at the top
>Teldrassil at the bottom
Motherfucker, are you serious.
I wouldn't even say start zones should be in either tier, but holy shit, Durotar is boring as all fuck compared to every other start zone.
Fuck, I sent every Alliance character I made to Teldrassil in the starting levels, I couldn't even begin to care what the humans were putting up with.
>"classic"
>not vanilla
>What was your favorite classic levelling zone?
Here's my tier list.
I actually do like Alterac Mountain, I in fact love the zone, but it got shafted fucking hard compared to how lore important it was.. Dalaran is literally there. Why does Blizz hate Dalaran??? Azshara I genuinely fucking hate purely because of it's beach. Dustwallow Marsh is awful because of it's NOTHING BUT A SWAMP FULL OF MOBS and.. That weird Tavern Quest that never lead to anything??? Moonglade and Deadwind pass are literal empty do-nothing content. Waste of space.
Kay, that might be a bit more Alliance bias, outside Shimmering Flats, I only remember one quest in that zone for Ally, and that was up in the Wyvern nests.
Cata at least made the zone full of quests continuing after the shit in Feralas, but I can't make any before/after comparisons for Horde cause I didn't go down there with them.
Deadwind Pass was great for farming
Feralas, I have a weak spot for magical forests so I liked similar zones like Ashenvale too
Duskwood
>great scenery
>plenty of good quests
>nostaliga of Stitches chasing you down a 1shot
Where my dwarf frens at?
I want a scenario where the Dwarf players can get Wildhammer features tot hem, like how Nelf's got Night Warrior looks.
We've got Dark Irons finally, but Falstad's been running a third of Ironforge for fucking years now, the Wildhammers have been part of the Alliance for fucking ages, give me that fucking paint!
this blatant shilling is pathetic
how much are you paying hiro for a free pass to do this shit
What are the red drakes in the map? I always played on a mop custom server full of bugs and those things werent working, are those portals?
world bosses. The 4 Nightmare Dragons, Azuregos and Kazzak
nice I love world bosses
absolute shit test
>Cata turned the area between Stormwind and Dun Morogh from a mystery that could be a proper zone into literally nothing
Correct version
MAGE BROS WHERE YOU AT?
Ever noticed that there's no place in Azeroth where wild horses live or could've lived?
How did they get horses?
There aren't any wild horses in real life either, yet we have horses everywhere.
there are wild horses in Kul Tiras and Howling Fjord
I don't know how I felt when they merged Alterac and Hillsbrad, but Alterac deserved more content. Deathwing posed as their ruler. They some how weren't overrun with undead. And it was a comfy snow zone.
>There aren't any wild horses in real life either
There was, but in modern times there is no wild horses left.
untrue, there are both truly wild and feral domesticated horse breeds extant even now
This can't actually be your real opinion
No there aren't, all horses that we know of has already been tamed. The only horses living in the wild are tamed horses that has escaped for various reasons but there are no true wild horses left in the world.
>horses
>on a forested island and in a fjord
100% retarded
There should've been a large steppe or grassland area in EK
>BS/SG
used to be mountains
The only thing that comes close is Arathi Highlands
>There aren't any wild horses
God your dumb
Humans as we know them in World of Warcraft first abandoned nomadic life and settled down to develop civilization in the Arathi Highlands and the surrounding area. It was something of a fertile crescent for them and it was most likely where they tamed and domesticated wild horses, sheep, and goats. The game can't obviously jam literally every animal that has ever existed in the world of warcraft or make it "to scale", but that's what most likely happened.
It's also super underwhelming to think about how Stromgarde was basically the first Human Kingdom ever, but in Wow it isn't really that big of a deal.
When will they be sending out beta invites?
>Dustwallow Marsh, Thousand Needles and Tanaris
>Amazing
>Ashenvale and Tirisfal Glades
>Mediocre
Accurate sized Azeroth makes sense
Duskwood
If it were to scale, even Goldshire would be a pretty big village with 7.000 people living there.
Maybe it can be more to scale if they ever decide to make WoW2 or something.
duskwood forever, hillsbrad foothills is ok too, plaguelands get honorable mentions
t. Dwarven ally scum
none, leveling fucking sucked
Faggot detected
switch hinterlands and stv and it's perfect
Classic and Vanilla WoW are two different things.
>leveling
>not wandering Ruins of Lordaeron on trial mode pretending you're dead and that the NPC corpsettes are your only friends
That map is so much more thoughtfully made than the shit WoW ended up with
And not just because there's more shit, the shit's also distributed much better.
I don't like a single area, I like the process; you know, exhausting all the quests I like, getting sidetracked for some time, getting back on track, finally getting the one quest that sends me to the next area or just moving onwards on my own.
If anything, even though I won't play WoW again, I'm kinda glad for Classic because a new generation of middle-school dorks will have similar experiences as me.
Thousand Needles and Stranglethorn Vale.
It's based on early designs that Blizzard wanted but was considered way too ambitious. That's why the final map has so much empty space, they were supposed to be patches and shit
Azshara was gonna introduce more Naga shit before TBC and Kul Tiras nearly became the next expansion but Blizzard couldn't add to the map
>cata turned the airfield from a neat fly-over secret to an actual quest zone
I have no image to portray my disgust.
>Elwynn
I sleep
nah it's pretty great, I just prefer the other ally starting zones much better
teldrassil is a shitty leveling zone but darnassus is peak comfy. sucks that there’s never anyone there.
These rivers are giving me a headache, every one of them flows from sea-to-sea, every lake/pond/reservoir has at least 5 offshoots which doesn't make any sense.
layer 2 with my homies in ashenvale with a slice of layer 1 in tanaris with pirates and a pinch of layer 3 in the barrens
im just kidding fuck you
Tanaris was the most memorable for me. Gadgetzan was a great hub with constant wPvP battles (level 60's vs 40's) and comical guard 1-shots. The desert felt endless and ZF was really nicely integrated into the zone,as soon as you saw the text for Carrot On a Stick for the first time you knew you HAD to run that dungeon.
>please blizzard, let me pay you 60 shekels + monthly subscription fee so that I don't have to play your game
You're the reason WoW is shit.
did they fuck up day/night? Also fuck sharding
Mulgore
bros as much as i want to roflstomp noobs as an undead rogue, i absolutely do not want to miss out on comfy alli zones like duskwood and stormwind.
fuck minmaxers comfy>stats
True patrician
Any good streamers who will likely get beta access?
Pls no Tips and related faggots
The jungle zone in FF6, the song was great too.
>fuck alliance tier
>dun morogh is at the top though
fucking decide man
The Barrens
Its an undeniably good zone
I always get bored and abandon my dwarf characters when its time for Loch Modan
why does no one like Felwood?
Because it's shit, it's all green and gay
it's a bitch to navigate so half the quests require 15 minutes of travel
There is only one answer. Feralas, Un'goro, Elwynn, and Ashenvale are pretty nice as well.
One of my favorite memes desu
Oops, meant for this
>playing classic
>out questing after I spent 3 hours unsuccessfully trying to find a group for Maraudon
>run out of food because I have to eat after every 3rd or so fight, and have died several times after accidentally pulling more than 2 mobs
>get on my blazing fast 40% speed mount that took weeks of grinding to buy
>as Im leaving the area, the named mob that I had spent 15mins waiting to show has respawned
>turn 360 degrees around and make a run for him (remember Im still on my 40% speed mount so Im getting there really fast)
>another player is making a break for him as well
>theres a pool of water in my way which auto-dismounts me
>slowly swim across pool, open my 4 slot bag (remember Im poor as fuck after spent all my gold on that mount) frantically find the mount and click it to mount up again
>get there before other player
>epicwin.jpg
>start spamming my 1 attack button
>nothing is happening
>?????
>remember classic WoW will not auto-dismount when I go to attack
>quickly right click the mount icon to dismount
>start my attack
>it misses because my weapon skill is too low
>other player from the same faction beats me to the attack and gets the tag
>go to yell profanity at him but daily honor updated has started so the server has lagged out for everyone in the entire game
>rage quit and log onto my main to spend the next few hours, farming nature resist gear so I can get an invite to tomorrows (14 year old)raid that lasts all of 30 minutes
boys I SIMPLY cannot wait for classic!
It won't be fun. It will just fool you into thinking you are having fun.
and its a single fucking highway chokepoint worse than stv so at times its the #1 spot for pieces of shits trying to waste everybodys time forcing engagements for their youtuber compilations in a zone nobody wants to be in besides them, not even the fun turf wars like in STV
>No beta invite
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
dude no one has gotten one
Should have bought the pig
Loch Modan, i have the most nostaliga for that zone, for me it's max comfy. Jumping off the dam into the wetland swamps was a very epic moment.
>blizzard probably deleted all these old builds like they deleted the original vanilla assets
>all we have now is scraps from datamining old builds that people with functioning brains backed up
Hinterlands for Alliance:
>Badass stone fortress where legendary Gryphon riding dwarf clan lives
Hinterlands for Horde:
>mudhut nigger village on the coast
all of this just sounds like you're retarded
aerie peek looks nice and that's about it, the mud hut is better
How long would this take a 58 human warrior to grind in Classic?
Goblins were in Night Elf lands even in WC3, they bring money and goods which not even Night Elves would get too fussy over as long as they're not completely fucking up the environment
they were only there in wc3 to fuck up the environment.
Tier list based on leveling quality.
This list assumes you're a pvp god and starter zones excluded
also tanaris is borderline great.
Was this the real map or game file for the classic WoW?
it looks weird but believable, even tho everything back from classic is beaten to death, explained or just place holders, it still feels mysterious to me. Too bad, the nu-classic will be nothing like that with diversity devs cleansing the maps of all the fun and exploration.
Desolace
it's a collage of the local maps
>Badlands good
>Searing Gorge Mediocre
>Feralas good
>WPL good besides cauldron quests
>Desolace great
>Azshara anything but shit unless you wanna grind
>Duskwood good while Wetlands great
>Blasted Lands not Irredeemable Shit
blasted land is horrible
burning steppes is trash
hinterlands is great with the update
There being no Scourge in Alterac Mountains is really weird. Same with there being no Scourge at all in the Night Elf zones.
>correct
>correct
>correct
> "besides" no.
>desolace is way underrated
>yeah grind your epic mount while you're at it
>correct
>blasted lands is solid as fuck
>home
one of the secret club areas.
>tanaris island
>quel'thalas
>dancing troll village
>ironforge airfield
>old ironforge
>uninstanced zg
Hey retards you aren't going home.
You haven't even grown up enough to see blizzard is clearly fucking you for the 100th time.
Pack up this thread and take it back to /vg/.
your mom
Not even quests to make this map work. Kind of off-topic though, but what made vanilla so great was the sense of exploration, especially exploring locales that you'd seen before from the RTS perspective, but now could experience as a single character, from the ground.
I worry that this experience won't be as special since it isn't the first time anymore. Eh.
sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world sharded world
Yeah you can't really skip any quests. You're missing a ton of exp in kalimdor
I always get the best feeling in Redridge.
I want to like Duskwood so bad but the mob placements are just horrible and I always get worn after only the first set of quests.
Feralas, Redridge, Duskwood, Loch Modan, Wetlands, All of Dwarven territory, Swamp of Sorrows, Silverpine should all be in amazing.
is it possible to be such a faggot?
The Forsaken starting area, without any doubt. I loved the spooky atmosphere, and the idea that you're a fresh zombie running around a land filled with ghouls, ghosts, zealous crusaders, and werewolves. I hated having to eventually leave, and couldn't wait to start the Western Plaguelands.
I liked Dustwallow Marsh, isn't home for me, but I definitely got so into it, by the time I got out I was lvl 40, all the way from 30, and actually had some gold in my pocket for once.
>your mount wasnt anywhere on an actionbar
Whine more scrub
We're going home
>”your”
>fucking MULGORE in mediocre
I will fucking gut you.
>duskwallow marsh
>s tier
are you actually retarded
even if I personally love it and its the reason why I'm making a tauren again, the supreme uber comfyness of mulgore can't deny that it was, design wise, a bigass plain with not much going on
the fucking caves of felwood are SHIT. holy FUCK it's like teldrassial except the mob density is higher and when you aggro 2 or 3 you just fucking die. fuck warlock quests
>westfall mediocre
Let's play spot the Hordie.
"""''"""os"""""rs
was waiting for this lel
darkshore is way better
>fireballs and shadowbolts that take 25% of your life
>felhunters that mana burn
>guys with shields that spam a knockdown
>all crammed together
you really gotta group for that area
>azshara, darkshore and silithus are bad
>dustwallow and durotar are amazing
List strictly from a Horde leveling perspective.
>ashenvale amazing
i remember getting my ass whooped by alliance and having a severe lack of quests but ashenvale is so beautiful id still put it in great. not amazing though. id move tanaris to amazing too i absolutely love that zone
other than that i completely agree
felwood is garbage. i remember having to level there and suffering the whole time. doesnt help that it looks gross and there are caves everywhere
i remember how much joy i felt when i got out of that shithole
Ashenvale has a pretty decent amount of quests, but you need to know where to find them.
Silithus is literally one of the best zones for leveling in the whole game
>ashenvale
>amazing
retard.
>Hinterlands, anything but Great
That's a no from me chief.
looks nice
My list,
also Deadwind Pass turned into a Great zone with the addition of Karazhan
it's cool nearer the furbolg places
