They all are supremely well paid with some of the best benefits out there and they talked non-stop about how it's because they are union strong and America is fucking over everyone by demonizing unions. And they come back with a counter offer of $75000 PLUS guaranteed vacations.
And then you take a vacation and get fired, then you just gave away $5000 of possible pay with nothing to show for it.

you pay money out of your check to an organization that organizes all the workers, they're suppose to negotiate on your behalf and defend you if your boss tries to fuck you over and their power is suppose to come from being able to have all the workers go on strike.

In return, you're basically guaranteed sick days and vacation, and the employer can't get assblasted and fire you for taking them.
Also, and this is much more important in skilled trades, the employer can't demand that you do shit that's not your job.
If you're a plumber, and the boss asks you to wire up some outlets or something, you can say no fucking way, I'm a plumber not an electrician.

They don't in an employers market. There's no exploding children cause OSHA covered most of the basic human rights stuff. For awhile they were a way to band together to increase wages, but now corporations are so min/max with profits they will close entire branches to avoid labor costs.

What a union is, is basically a negotiation tool and employee protection system. Employees get together, they elect a leader, pay a small fee to towards the union so it can afford things like lawyers, space for meetings, anything the union needs so that it can operate. If an employee gets hurt on the job and the job is fighting the claim, if wages aren't competitive, hours are slashed, if a boss is unfairly targeting a single employee and the employee needs someone on their side because other employees don't want to get involved. The union comes down on the business.

Of course an airline like Delta would advertise against them. They're among the most corrupt corporate oligarchies in America.

Employee in a warehouse that has a union here. They are actually double edged swords. On one hand they (or at least, our) protect the workers from management middling with our hours, keep the pressure up for 2x pay for overtime, and help get worker appreciation events going on (raffles, BBQs). But on the other hand, holy shit do they protect the worst of the worst. There's multiple people at my job who barely do any work and they don't get canned.
