Pretty good. If it wasn't a Deus Ex sequel it would be considered a classic from it's generation.
Highly underrated. HR and the newer one are highly overrated.
First deus ex I ever played, countless hours dicking around 9/10 game
Having to reboot the entire fucking game on every load sends is straight into the shitter
Severely limited gameplay thanks to consoles but the writing is the only time Deus Ex ever did a decent job of discussing the issues involved in governance. Childhood is thinking Deus Ex has really good writing and drops redpills, adulthood is knowing Invisible War does it far better.
started the great decline
what is it with these picasso-esque opinions where people shit all over these games when they released only to come out and say it was a great and underrated game several years later
I didn't shit on Invisible War when it was released. I thought it was good. And yes, I played the first game before it. I've been defending Invisible War here for years. It is nowhere near as bad as the retards here who can only rate games "amazing" or "utter shit" claim.
Yeah I was just thinking that. I remember everyone was saying this game was ass, and then I played it, and yeah, it was ass.
peak contrarianism
I liked IW from the moment I played it in school and only years later found out that the internet hated it.
Bad game.
Interesting idieas.
Someone should mod it into the original Deus Ex engine and expand upon it. Would probably be a harder project than just making a new game though.
It's literally only hated because Deus Ex fans are autistic.
Invisible War correctly predicts that a transhuman hivemind entity will just be greedy merchants towards all the normals.
I did because I played it on the xbox. The game content was good, even great, but it was a technical atrocity. The engine was too heavy to run on the OG xbox, but it was still built around its limitations, resulting in garbage performance on the console side, and consilzed menus and levels on the PC side. And oh boy, the executable having to restart at every loading screen to prevent memory leaks was just amazing.
Literally a game that tried to appeal to everyone and failed miserably.
Even worse, a ton if not all of these issues could be solved if they'd had the foresight of adding mod support, but they didn't. So it's forever stuck in awful frankenconsole brainfart mode.
>invisible war
>you can see the war
what were they thinking
what was there to predict? it's not like that wasn't already obvious in 2003
Is this considered cannon?
All I remember about it was choosing your characters' gender, playing around with basketball physics, having strangely blurry graphics, finding a fire bolt shooting thingy squirreled away in some ridiculous spot, a pyramid airport or something, the various licensed music as mp3s sitting in a folder that I of course added to my then burgeoning music collection, and meeting JC from the first game.
It was a long fucking time ago.
the omar were cool
I actually liked it. I agree it's the worst Deus Ex, but I still enjoyed playing it.
You talk to aliens in Invisible War. You engage in conversations with stereotypical grey dudes that speak English language.
Fuck Invisible War.
>Even worse, a ton if not all of these issues could be solved if they'd had the foresight of adding mod support
Well, no, mod support is not going to enable people to fix the fucking awful engine the game is built on. What you need for that is the source code and the only game Ion Storm released the source code for was Daikatana, the one game Ion Storm made that nobody wanted the source code for. Maybe an SDK would have been enough but probably not and in any case we got nothing.
>You talk to aliens in Invisible War
No, you don't. The little grey men are not aliens. They are a genetic experiment.
Shit game. Just rips off the first one while doing everything worse except for the graphics and the hardware limitations of the Xbox brings it down even more.
Pretty good game. Autists hate it.
Found the new fag who not only didn’t play Invisible War, but didn’t play the original either.
I didnt like the ammo system
underrated.
I'm biased because I bought it as a kid before I had any idea what Deus Ex was,
but I played the hell out of it many times and loved it. still like it better than the third one.
INVISIBLE WAR MY ASS.
The ragdoll corpse physics were great.
Fond memories of killing people in Germany and tossing their bodies into obscure spots out of sight of patrols.
