To get back to the topic, RPG maker at full price is probably not worth it, especially considering what image issue RPG maker games have usually. What prompts you to consider RPGMaker instead if you're already familiar with Wolf RPG Editor? It doesn't seem like one has something over the other from the few titles I played, but then again I never used them so I wouldn't know.

Absolutely wait for a sale - they tend to have big ones for RPG Maker titles. That said, they're pretty easy to use, and there's some interesting stuff you can do with scripts in it.

I mean the shittiest you could possibly do, graphics are completely minimal and an easy replacement, your actual hard part is getting the engine and scripts working and making the game presentable in a chronological format. The most work I ever got done was when I utterly ignored graphics.

>Entire map is a green background with lines of sand leading directly to the items/houses they're supposed to be in. No background stuff at all, that's for fluff later and will invigorate you with sidequest ideas when you're retouching it
>Classroom? Every student's desk is a table. The chalkboard is stone tables. The teacher's desk? 2 tables. The door? Table.
>Monster graphics? Hovering names. Everything looks like a bee. Dragon? Bee graphic. Dragonbreath? Beesting graphic. Zombie? Bee graphic. Zombie bite? Beesting graphic.
Graphics slow you down SO MUCH and do not put the game together. Completely ignore doing them right and focus on making the game work and making the plot actually be something someone can play out in proper order, then re-do the graphics after. They're minimal and the #1 source of giving up, so if you're doing them after the game already works you will not give up.

Just pirate RPG Maker until your game is done, purchase it when you intend to release it, and spend your release schedule ironing out the bugs with your fully updated version. Wolf is easy to use, but if you want to do anything intense, you can't really get it done without extra resources.
