So Comedy?

Stop trying to distract us with flashy lights, shadow effects, and other graphical shit not one asked for.

Instead devote some of that money to hiring real writers. Games were better written twenty years ago, and the story is really what people remember in a role-playing game.

JRPGs aren't in trouble. Just a few series like Final Fantasy and Pokemon have become stale. Play something beyond these.

Play indie JRPGs inspired in the good ones from Back Then™

What good games were there twenty years ago?

More jrpg's with linear progression, less open world ubishit.

DO NOT OPEN
EMBARRASSING DANCING WITHIN

But the two best JRPGs of this gen are both open world...

Get rid of shotacon and fujoshit pandering

Also someone post the webm

>the story is really what people remember in a role-playing game.
Most JRPGs are better known for their characters though.

I disagree. Just less open world shit like Final Fantasy XV does. More open world like Dragon Quest does.

That I agree on, Dragon Quest does it well.

skyrim is something like the third best selling game ever, there's a market for open world trash

Skyrim does open world well because of the setting, and mods.

i only played xenosaga. . will i like xenoblade x on wii u? I used to like ps2 jrpgs

nevertheless a lot of people play open world ubishit at least sometimes

No, even with mods, the open world in Skyrim is horrible. Because you're still stuck with all the original games dialogue and areas, which are a textbook of how not to do progression.

The thing most people don't get is that good open world games are actually planned with paths and goals in mind. They guide players to do certain things, but give the player the perception that they're finding things on their own. Games like Skyrim just dump you in a world and tell you to go find stuff without these hints (aside from the first area of the game). And so it becomes an aimless chore.

Xenoblade X is an exploration game where you go on interesting sidequests to learn about the world and it's people. Then you break the game systems to kill ever-bigger things. Main story is there, I guess.

Xenoblade 1 and 2 feel more like PS2 JRPGs, even if the combat isn't turn-based.

is it executed well? or its only praised because its the wii u's only game?

I think what you mean is, Xenoblade 1 & 2 use shonen anime tropes. Xenoblade X tried to be sienen.

>seinen
You don't know what that means do you

>sienen
is it playable on cemu?

Yes. It's a demographic term for older men. Unlike Shounen which is for younger men. Also, I said Xenoblade X "tried" to be sienen for a reason.

Better character writing and scenarios, more creative battle systems and customization, and to be completely honest, a bit more budget for some of the more niche developers in the genre.

Yeah, that's a big part of it.

Good execution, but the menus are a mess to get things done. Some level of micromanagement will be needed if you want to set up a group of badasses. The Skells/Dolls are great too. You don't get them early, so exploration opens up in tiers.

Go back to when the cast of characters were memorable, quirky, and a bit goofy. Everyone's too fucking serious, these days.

Have you played a jrpg in the last decade?

Don't let Japan develop them.

>98% of current day rpgs r filled waifubait and busty lolis
> its the shotas that r ruining rpgs!

Get a load of this guy

op just says "rpgs" so if they play wrpgs that might make sense, some of my favorite games are jrpgs with relatively understated characters though

People like you have only played Final Fantasy XV, right?

Unironically, good character design. They don't even have to be spectacular or amazing, they just have to be varied enough without being boring, edgy, or ugly.

Xenoblade 2's a good example. No one really likes the designs of the characters that much, but those qualms are on a smaller scale rather than the whole idea of their design being piss poor.

Just make a new Wild Arms that's not a mobile game.

The design of the girls is about the only thing people like about the game.

Next you'll ask for a Suikoden game that isn't a spin off.

nothing about this post makes sense to me

Play Cosmic Star Heroine or Another Eden

>10 billion flies can't be wrong. shit is awesome!

Poor wording on my part. Meant that the designs are pristine or perfect by any metric because they've received criticism for varying things, but the overall direction of the art is a positive one.

skyrim funded prey at least

Or a Phantasy Star that isn't a gacha.

Last year Media Vision was contracting people to work on a PS4 exclusive with sci fi elements, there's still hope lads.

Skyrim made enough money to fund 10 AAA games. So much money Bethesda doesn't even have to make another game again. But most of that money will just go into diversified investment to make even more money, while Bethesda makes two games with a decade old engine and little originality.
