Is there any way to skip or speed up battle animations? That's honestly the biggest roadblock to me playing any further, they look nice the first couple times but they slow down the gameplay way too much.

You could maybe shave off 5 hours or so if you only go for the ending. You won't be saving a ton of time though because of how the game is structured though.

There is just one ending but the game artificially blocks your progression by forcing you to do ~70% of the sidequests in order to advance story.

It's a 30hrs long playthrough at best unless you skip all dialogue and speedrun the game.
