Most people have cited the teamplay as a good idea and a neat way to add strategy into the game.
But if you so choose, you can also race without teams and make it a free for all, which I'm sure many people will do. I admit that if they do DLC I have to wonder how they'll add in the characters without teams, but I could see them padding out the teams with extra members if they see fit

It's still the same guy, you can hear parts of his intonation come out as if it were Boom Knuckles. I think the director wanted him to try and sound more serious which Boom Knux doesn't so they had him add that weird gruffness to the voice but it's way too thick. If what the VAs said is correct and they were rushed through, that would explain why it's so rough sounding.

Boom had him always berating and insulting Eggman for being incompetent and always talks himself up. Lost World and Colors had this to a degree as well. Plus his general personality of a pompous, always in the right, highly intellectual type that talks down to others fits for those kinds of personality types.

It's really horrifying since this is the kart racer that lets you pause your drift to switch directions and keep building your boost without having to throw it away on a different turn.
It's such a fun and rewarding mechanic, and it seems like nobody except those who went all in with Transformed seem to know it exists.

This. Nine times out of ten the only reason why any voice actor sounds bad is because of poor "one-take" direction. This is why Boom Sonic sounded better in his cartoon, not just the design being different. If you listen to his demo reel you'll notice that Roger has a lot of range. The problem is that they didn't really try to work with him to get the Sonic voice right the first time, and nowadays they never tell him to do anything other than "the Sonic voice." (Same reason why voice actors like Steve Blum sound the same all the time. He's paid to do "that" voice.) Which is why we get what we get now. If Sonicfags want to screech about something related to voice acting, this is it.

Again, if they changed Sonic's game VA to him you'd have the exact same problem you do with Roger. He'd just phone it in or only get one take to work with. You can say "he'd still be better" but I think you'd be missing the point.

I've seen screeching about Sonic VAs since the 4Kids era and one thing I've learned is that a voice actor is only as good as his director. Even Griffith could sound okay-ish with direction that isn't completely half-assed.

I think a lot of people, especially after the Seaside Hill remix was uploaded, assumed this was just going to rehash every stage present in Generations. And while we did get Rooftop Run, Planet Wisp, and Seaside Hill AGAIN, I appreciate them for using different stages when it came to the Adventure games, and doing different takes on each stage they based on the returning locations. Pyramid Cave and Sand Hill are good choices.
If they do DLC stages, I would love different Angel Island landmarks as a zone, and maybe City Escape or something else from Adventure 2 as a zone. Maybe one based in Radical Highway or Route 280.

The main problem with Roger is that he makes the character sound too much like a two bubbling dimensional douchebag, where as before Sonic had more gears than just that. It's kind of a pattern with these remakes and recasts, and redesigns of classic media in general. Leads me often to use NuTrek as an analogy. Classic Sonic would be the Original Enterprise, Adventure Sonic would be the Refit, and then for Modern Sonic some would either match it to the JJ Enterprise or just the next ship in the line after the Refit. Those quills on Modern Sonic are just too fat and not sharp enough from too many viewing angles, especially from the front where it looks like he has a mullet. Or maybe it's just Roger's voice that gives that impression.
