I'd much rather have a SNES Classic and a decent 1080p TV than an old browned out SNEES and a BVM
I thought about this too. It's no wonder some games look like shit on PC. They were made in the era of CRT, especially PS2 games.
>see FFXII on PC and it looks like garbage
>remember that it used to look really good
>remember that it was because I played it on a CRT that also wasn't even big, literally like 1/4 of my monitor now
>Play Station 1
>retro
You can tell OP is a zoomer when he thinks this is how CRT looked like back in the day.
I'm 90% sure that this isn't a CRT, but a shader.
>FF7
>retro
I wonder how they call NES games
>22 year old game
>not retro
be quiet zoomer
adults are talking
so this is the power of crts, huh? good job boomers looks great 10/10 really
FF7 is old enough to graduate college.
Why are CRTs so comfy?
Perfect blacks
No ghosting like LCDs
No resolution or refresh rate limitations like LCDs
its an enthusiast hobby for sure
what would you categorize FFVII as if you dont think it should be considered retro?
Where can I find a good one for a decent enough price?
>Yikes
Keep digging that grave.
Fat people cope. You don't need to be big to be strong.
Damn, I feel like replaying FFVII again.
You should be using composite for the Sonic games. It makes things like dithering blend into the intended gradient effect, plus waterfalls actually look transparent, rather than a series of pixel streams.
Cleaner does not always mean better.
>Adults actively seek out shitty hardware because they can't grow up
>not playing new games on a CRT
good stuff, would definitely play again on a CRT with no save states
The only people who like CRTs are hipster zoomers
With the remake trailer this is more relevant than ever.

>Shitty hardware
If you don't understand something, you should keep your mouth shut, zoomer.
Don't mind me, just posting the best FFVII track.

I'm not digging that electric anvil out of the closet for some fucking nostalgia.
Only thing I miss about CRT's are lightgun games.
>SNEES
>formerly CHUCS
is that even possible on newer consoles like the PS4 & switch?
I thought they had removed the A/V cables from the back because why not everybody threw away their "bulky" TVs years ago
Oh no, it's retarded
i can hear this image
Why? Cloud is fucking jacked in the remake. Watch the trailer again.
PS3 came with AV cables so you could play those games on a CRT but not PS4.
what's the deal with nostalgiafags and incredibly shitty CRTs/interlacing+bending? I grew up on CRTs, TVs and monitors and you practically had to press your fucking eyeballs on the glass to see the interlacing, and the bending was nigh invisible when looking from the front, while all the emulator effects and nostalgiafag.jepgs have the shittiest representation of CRT effects imaginable, lines that can be seen from the couch, weird disgusting miscolorisation and vignetting
it just comes across like being a nostalgiafag for VHS artefacts
this one is way more accurate to what CRTs actually looked like
Unfortunately, we're surrounded by kids who weren't even a fucking twinkle in their father's eye when NES games were around. Hence all the shitting on 3rd and 4th gen games. Honestly I feel like 4th was the golden age. 5th is like that awkward teen stage.
I remember once the HDMI cable of my PS3 died, so for a couple of days I played GTA V with component cables. It looked surprisingly good, but not enough to save the rest of that shit game.
>"Nuh uh. You just don't get it. [insert buzzwords]"
it was on the PS3, idk about the PS4
i actually played FFXIV in 480i on a CRT with a PS3 for a while which was an interesting experience. very SOUL but kind of hard to play with the UI eating the whole screen
It's the power of the PS1. Everything is a pixelated mess on it.
Silent Hill 1 is godly on a CRT
Yes.
The fuck are you talking about, I'm playing it right now and it looks amazing, legit better than Breath of the Wild.
But, that's not how that shit looked back then. You can't get pixel-perfect output like that and you're not supposed to.
CRTs look much smoother and you're not supposed to see the dither patterns so clearly.
It was an illusion used to increase color depth. When viewing it on an emulator you won't get the right effect.
I don't know if you know this user but there's this thing called time and it tends to pass by
dodonpachi on a pvm
What's a good size for a CRT to play vidya on? To hell with those bigger ones, motherfuckers are way too heavy.
I bought one of these a week ago because my n64 games look like shit and melee is unplayable on my flatscreen. It was supposed to come through the mail today but it got shipped to the wrong address. The n64 games will look better than this shit right?
n64 always looks like shit honestly, not even autismo hdmi mod can really save it
You should get a tripcode already.
Everyone knows there's only 1 fucking faggot creating CRT threads on a regular basis.
I already did back in 1997.
