>one shot lightning attack
>follow up attack within a millisecond of the bullshit lightning attack
>literally drains your entire healthbar
This is why people cheese Fromsoft games
I guess From is still doing cheapshot bosses
It tells you what to do for the lightning you dumb faggot.
gitgud
>reverse lightning attack
>wreck him
oh no no don't tell me you missed the literal giant poster in the room before the boss that tells you how to counter lightning
Jump and strike when the lightning hits you, this makes the lightning hit the boss instead of you.
yeah that shit works maybe like 30% of the times typical from bullshit
fucking retard
>yeah that shit works maybe like 30% of the times typical from bullshit
Sounds like you're doing it wrong. Works me 100% of the time
>flurry of attacks make him kill himself if you spam deflect
>bow attacks just make him take a hit if you are attacking him instead of waiting for him to attack
>super easy to use mikiri and jump kicks on him
>lighting reversal destroys him in no time at all
I know this is just the Sekiro thread starter shitpost these days but lightning reversal is legitimately a terribly implemented mechanic.
Literally git gud
>jump at the right time
>press attack
How is it terribly implemented?
jump and press R1. i do that. it works sometimes, other times it doesnt. Do I have to have extremely precise timing? Cuz i do it when i see him start his attack
You need to time your jump so that when you catch the lightning you still have time for an attack so you can reverse it. It's very reliable and does tons of stun and damage.
Second phase is much easier than the first once you get the lightning counter down
You're probably doing it to early. If you jump right as the red symbol appears above your head you'll never do it. The lighting has to hit you in mid air and then just spam RB. It works 100% of the time
Heh, you got underage kids like OP who struggle with Sekiro's glorified tutorial boss, then you got people like me who killed Owl (father) at Hirata and the Demon of Hatred. Both of those bosses were optional (I chose the Divine Child of Rejuvenation ending) but I decided to kill them anyways because I'm literally that good. Feels great knowing how superior I am to subhuman knuckledraggers like the OP.
>used all my eel livers on him
>didn't even know Isshin would have this bullshit too
It just doesn't fucking work consistently on anything but the dragon and even there it has a chance to somehow miss. You see yourself do the animation, lightning shoots at the enemy and they just don't react half the time. This is assuming you get the "proper" timing to actually have the attack go off in the first place instead of the game eating a dozen r1 inputs after you got zapped and deciding you landed without pressing anything like it does 9/10 times on SS Isshin. I tried mashing, I tried being precise with r1, I tried god only knows how many different jump timings. It just doesn't work when you need it to, so I beat the final boss without it despite everyone saying third phase is free thanks to the mechanic being present. I have zero other complaints about the game and I like to think I'm pretty patient but I just could not figure out how to work that single mechanic and I know I'm not the only one. There shouldn't be that much room for confusion. I'm just glad it wasn't used much.
not even trying to shitpost, i have had no issue with the game so far. Took down most of the bosses with no issue. Even genichiro's first phase is easy. the lightning shits just not working for me
so whats the Yea Forumserdict on this game
>It just doesn't fucking work consistently
It does though, I only fucked it up 2-3 times and those were the first times I used it in the game
After that I managed to pull them off perfectly, it's all about the timing of the jump
When you get hit you get stunned for a couple seconds and your jump only lasts a bit more than the stun, so if you fuck it up you will get stunned until you touch the ground and take damage
how do i beat chained ogre
Watch people do it on youtube and try to figure out what you're missing.
thanks senpai
This is actually a fair critique of Sekiro, just not articulated very well. The fact that Lightning is introduced for the first time in the third phase of a boss fight is a questionable decision. The tool tip just says "jump and hit R1!" which I did and wiped three times. It took me that long to realize it was "Jump -> get hit by lightning -> attack before landing". Silly of me, but if they had given you ONE area to practice lightning before a boss fight (or even just had him use it in the first phase, so you don't have to get to phase 3 to even practice) it would have been much better.
Throw oil on him and use the flame barrel
dude just jump and swing your sword i mean like what fuck it's literally like two buttons lol.
Use oil and firecrackers for free damage. Anticipate his throws and jump away accordingly.
>stealth attack first bar
>throw oil at him
>set him on fire
>bait attacks and dodge last second before it starts
>never block
I don't know how people had problems with him, I'm an absolute shitter and I beat him 2nd try
Second Owl fight is driving me crazy. I keep messing up and taking so much damage. Any good strats you guys used?
does the chained ogre appear again as a harder enemy? cuz when i fought him, i hardly understood the combat mechanics and beat him first try, just dodging and countering.
When he throws out the gunpowder, jump in his direction so that the i-frames of the jump cover the explosion in case you jump a bit late, and so that you land almost behind him for free hits.
Also, watch out for his long ass thrust when he is flying across the screen at you, you can mikiri it.
He appears again but he'll be even easier because of upgrades you'll have. The area is just smaller.
I think there are 3 encounters with the ogre if I'm not forgetting any. The last 2 are right before the final boss.
While OP is shitposting and you're right it's pretty fucking stupid that they expect you to read a paragraph of text while mid-combat against a high tension boss, and the paragraph is as far from where you need to look to see the boss as possible.
I know there's the scroll in the room under him that tells you about it but it doesn't actually include controls. I misunderstood the scroll and thought I had to attack the lightning mid-air.
always make sure to have plenty of room behind you so you can block his combo that ends with the explosion slash that can only be dodged consistently backwards
A good way to do that is to go on the offense if you have your back aganist a wall, after 2-3 attacks he will either do 2 simple slashes or jump away so just block after a couple attacks
After his slash he usually does that one overhead attack with huge windup, if you try to dodge he can easily fuck you up but if you wait and dodge on the last second you can get some really easy hits on him
During his throw shuriken then insnatly charge at you with an slash attack block the shuriken and try to dodge to the right if you don't get locked blocking the slash you will end up behind him and have time to attack
I recommend using Ichimonji double and learning when you can use it because you need any posture you can get
you need to get hit by the lightning midair and click r1 to reverse it before your feet touch the ground, you're just timing it wrong or probably jumping then frantically pressing r1 like a casual retard.
It literally works 100% of the time if you're not a complete sub 80 iq retard, if you can't get it down now I suggest you drop the game 'cause there's no way you're finishing it.
It's literally just jump and swing before the lightning hits you.
Thanks.
>After his slash
I meant after his SWEEP, my bad
it also explains it before you start the bossfight in the dojo below.
can't blame from for you being retarded
Please don't tell me people think fucking Genichiro is the casual filter.
Delay your jump a bit. If you jump too soon you won't have time to throw the lightning back before touching the ground
What is? It took me so long but got me to finally get the game and I didn't have much trouble the rest of the game.
>retard casuals still get filtered by easy fromsoft games
lol
I just said the scroll explains it in wacky japany lingo. The explanation mid-fight is literally separated into paragraphs so it's not as quickly digested as "jump, get hit, then swing"
Sure I can
>literally explains it about 3 minutes before the genichiro boss fight
>entire mid-boss fight cutscene meant to make you go "OH YEAH THE LIGHTNING TUTORIAL THEY LITERALLY JUST TAUGHT ME"
>still throws a bone by popping up the tutorial on screen
>does the most obvious stab attack in the entire game immediately
>still can't fucking handle it
chained ogre is the casual filter
Genichiro and lady butterly are the tutorial bosses to learn the proper flow of the gameplay in case you still didn't ge it
You can get eel livers in fountainhead if you're struggling, but just delay your jumps and you should be fine
I beat him 3rd try, I just didn't know how to handle the lightning at first. Dude dies immediately to the axe.
So you're angry that they explained in detail thatall you had to do was jump and swing? Sounds like you're anger is a little misplaced.
>blames a boss for having a cheapshot
>unable to counter it so I brought my own cheapshot
Literally get good. faggot
See this is why From games are starting to be hated around here. I like the game, hell I really like the boss. Just any little tiny critique like "Hey this one thing was poorly worded" gets met with retardation. It's pathetic, reads like something off a fanforum circa 2004
If you stay close to him it’s literally impossible for the lightning to hit you. Sounds like you keep running away instead of playing aggressive
I'm on NG+. I decided to go for the platinum, but doing all minibosses + headless + Hirata all the way to Genichiro gave me like 5 skill points. What the fuck, is the endgame XP better or am I looking at hours of grinding for all the skills?
You get more xp if you give kuro his charm back.
The grind for XP is terrible. But once Ashina Castle is attacked and burned go to the Ashina outskirts stairway idol and farm the 5 red guys. It helps if you’re on ng+3 or higher because you’ll get a lot more xp
He has two big openings that allow for a double ichimonji, the 2 hit combo that ends with a gunpowder blast which you can dodge into his left to end up behind him, giving you time to Ichi or basic attack twice and the attack where he does a huge downwards swing, which you have to dodge last second else he feints and does a 360 spin instead. Parrying it is not ideal either since it staggers Sekiro and makes a counterattack impossible.
It's consistent as fuck. He pulls back his shit to charge it with lightning then throws it at you. You have to be in the air while it's in the air. You probably jump during his telegraph and land by the time it hits or, you just before so that you land before you can send it back. You're just a giddy retard, don't fall for the hype. Take a breath and let the combat flow. You won't kill him faster by committing to a reversal before the actual window of opportunity.
Whats the strategy to Isshin when he does the move where flames burst from floor? The attack that comes after is hard to dodge or guard. Can the move be interrupted?
LOL u suck
Tag in the Hulkster for the glorious mirror match
Well damn, apparently being a scrub fucked me over
Oh, I farmed those guys for fulminated mercury in my first playthrough. Ok, guess I'll just have to be patient then
Get the umbrella and block. While he’s doing the flash thing just walk behind him while still holding the shield and then attack with it. This does solid damage. You can also firecracker him before he causes the fire to burst up
Everybody I've seen just does a diagonal step around him twice, once per overhead slash. I've not fought Isshin Ashina but it looks to have nearly the same telegraph as Sword Saint's second phase, which I sidestep and punish with Double Ichi. But you do have to double step because he will modify his angle to you for the second strike.
>How is driving sims hard just move the wheel left and right.
Hate drooling neckbeards with several thousand hours in souls games saying Sekiro is not hard it is just a couple of buttons.
Just beat Genchiro and it's hard. You might have different idea in mind when he does his lightning attack and end up locked in an animation, and he does the strike deceptively quickly. The other thing is that the patterns of his attacks change up and he can counter your slash after which you counter him and you can get a hit in, or he decides to slash you, and he ends up faster. He can decide to shoot his bow after a flurry instead of doing a longer slash. It keeps you guessing and you end up making mistakes.
For example I beat chained ogre on my first try without encountering any difficulty because I preferred to keep distance from him seeing that I can get many slashes in after he stumbles from his attacks.
Literally took me two tries to beat this
Finally did it boys. Used axe and deflection to destroy his posture and then deathblow. Feels good
Congratulations!
I kept trying to dodge it like a retard and it would fucking kill me instantly. Once you actually do the jump attack thing to absorb the lightning and shoot it back it basically ends the phase/fight.
Compare that to the Divine Dragon fight were you do the lightning thing a whole shit load and I beat him first try, not that he's hard.
It's funny replaying the game to see how far you've improved. I originally spent close to two hours of tries in Genichiro, beat him first try on NG+. Faggot still got me on the first fight though, goddammit
It's much easier against the dragon, since you are automatically launched into the air when you jump on an electrocuted tree.
>imblyning
>yfw you can parry lightning attacks and get a different animation than just getting hit while also avoiding the chip damage
in my last (5th) attempt I tried to get hit by this attack just to understand how lightning parry works, but I could, he missed it everytime all I had to do is jump. how fucking dense are you?
both bulls are the worst bosses in the game, they keep kinda going your way, but the timing on their attacks feel random
like, I'd parry it as soon as it got to me, but then it'd strike me a second later even though I was already in contact with it before
the monkey was kinda weird at first with all that flaliling, but I understood its moveset after a few tries, the bull is, well, bullshit
How did you get that much more health back using deathblow?
There are 3 death blow upgrades
any one take down the guardian ape and his girlfriend yet? having a good ol' time dying over and over
It's pretty dumb how the game gets easier the further in you get. The first part of the game is really tense with no killing-blow healing and very few gourds. By the end you barely even need the gourds because the death blows heal you so much
>headless ape
Just parry his long windup slash and learn how to jumpkick the sweep he does after jumping
>gf
just firecracker her twice and attack her a bunch right after she spawns
Gf has pretty low vitality and posture, keep running from the couple until you can hit her safely and then do firecrackers and combo her. Headless is the easiest when you parry him until he gets on two legs to do a huge overhead attack. Deflect that and use the spear to pull the centipede out, tons of posture damage
When you deflect the heavy slash that opens up the ape for free hits, use the spear for bonus damage.
Focus on the second ape when it appears, it goes down pretty quickly. Firecrackers work well on it too.
The charged fire prosthetic absolutely fucks her. Parry the big slam attack headless does so he's stunned then burn her, hopefully hitting him if you're lucky. That'll stun her for a bit and you can get a few attacks.
I agree that the way the game introduces lightning reversal is pretty sloppy, but this is a Fromsoft game so everyone pretends they understood what to do immediately. If you took Yea Forums's word for it, you'd have to be retarded to not beat every boss first try and find every single secret in the first playthrough blind.
However Sekiro is otherwise a lot more polished than the previous games. Mikiri Counter arguably should have been a basic ability but you get to a point where it becomes damn near impossible to progress (for a first-time player) without acquiring it. It's certainly built up a lot better than lightning reversal. I guess the reason they didn't have you fight a basic enemy or mini-boss with lightning reversal first is for lore/story reasons, lightning is supposed to be a big deal. Maybe the player could have traversed through a lightning storm beforehand?
>all that bullshit you have to do in order to fight Owl 2
Fuck shitters who refuse to git gud, this is the real problem of From games.
>spy on Kuro
>talk to Emma
>go to grave
>go to temple
>get bell
>enter the memory
>go to the boss room
So difficult
>the way the game introduces lightning reversal is pretty sloppy,
It's on the wall RIGHT before you need it and on like 6 loading screens before you get to Genichiro. The fuck are you even talking about?
The tutorials may be obnoxious at times but you're not Arin, you can read the whole text since the game pauses during its tutorials.
I thought that the game gives you a separate tutorial popup after you read it. Maybe I'm misremembering.
It's pretty on the nose but it's not like it's very hard to grasp what to do with lightning reversal. It might be a bit difficult to get the timing down at first but once you realize that you just spam attack in the air it's fairly simple to get it done every time.
Now anti-air execution, that's some bullshit.
Something a lot of stupid people seem to not realize about discussing things is that you're supposed to actually discuss your points. You don't just get blindly agreed with for saying your opinion, you're supposed to defend your position. Crying about how people won't just tell you you're right for having an opinion is the gayest shit ever. This place isn't here to validate you.
Exactly.
