I'm currently playing through IX on Switch and I'm liking it. Freya is a great character. Just got done beating the Antlion in Cleyra, my party always feel underleveled and I majorly fucked up by not synthesizing Zidane's weapons in Lindblum. I still have no combat skills he can use like Freya's Lancer or Steiner's Minus Strike.

What do you think of Garnet's backstory so far?

It's good, she's written in such a way that her naivety is endearing and her cunning is surprising for one so sheltered, but she comes a little bit Mary Sue-ish because she seems to have no personal flaws.
And yeah, she's fucking hot. I've played VII, XIII, XV, and now IX, and she's the third hottest character behind Tifa and Aranea. Her FMV model looks so fucking good that it irks me how she looks on the field and in battle.

13 was better than X

I don't think she's Mary Sueish, she spends a good part of the game helpless and overall grows through loss and mistakes made.

The rog mechanic in 9 is frankly a more expensive and micromanagey form of materia. For a game that’s already slow this drags it down. I think that’s why the game is overlooked

I'm about 25 hours into XII and it's so unabashedly the best in the numbered series that I have no clue how it isn't constantly lauded as such. I'm having a blast with it and am flabbergasted they went from something like XII to XIII

Ivalice is pleb repellent, and everyone was butthurt about the removal of random encounters at the time. It got overlooked because it was too different.

You like what you like, but the person who would say that 12 is 'the best in the series' either has severe brain damage or is so contrarian their sense of reality has been warped beyond repair.
