Because Sony has a very powerful marketing machine, and the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Nintendo's hardware isnt quite up to snuff, and their marketing has been more or less terrible from early 2000s on, they have been improving on that front, but are still ultimately pretty far behind. XBox has no real foothold in the market, and it is unlikely to ever get one, there are probably a lot of gaming japs that dont even know wtf an XBox is, and as far as PC goes, there is more effort when it comes to the marketing end of things among other issues
