Alright motherfuckers, Castlevania Collection comes out in two days. I recommend any fans buy it in their platform of choice to show Konami there's still money in the series.

For now, general -vania hype and discussion.

From your post you're obviously here to shill the game. But I'm somewhat interested in the game. Never played platformers these old, only modern ones. Is Castlevania Collection doing to be playable for zoomer like myself or do I need nostalgia googles for it?

Gonna pickit up. It's going to be wacky playing SNES games on PS4. I hope they do a Metroidvania setup next.

No, I’m not buying the same fucking games again

Are you implying a Castlevania game after the 6th gen could ever be good? Let the series rest in peace,a new game in this industry is not worth it.

Kill yourself zoomer

Attached: 54.jpg (681x162, 48K)

>Kill yourself zoomer
>it's a game that aged like shit and plays like trash compared to modern platformers
Got it, thanks

castlevania 4 and bloodlines are literally the only remotely playable games. castlevania 1 and 3 are sort of fun novelties but you can beat them in a few hours and it doesn't feel rewarding because the game is so unfair

really castlevania overall is a mediocre series and I say this as someone who autistically learned to play bloody tears on piano as a kid

Yes, I'm here to shill the game but just as a fan who wants Konami to stop making fucking Pachinko and actually make a new entry in the series.

When you say you've played "Modern Platformers," do you mean classic styled modern Platformers or literally just newer games like Mario Odyssey or New SMB?

If you enjoy stuff like Shovel Knight and the like, you might still enjoy these. They're stiff and generally pretty tough but the music, and atmosphere are generally amazing. You'll probably enjoy Castlevania IV and Bloodlines the most out of the collection.

If you played Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, it's basically a more forgiving Castlevania III.

And people wonder why zoomers are hated

I can make heads or tails of your meaning from your garbage formatting. there's a reason why symphony of the night is the castlevania people remember

>literally buying roms you can download off google in 2 minutes and play in your emulator of choice for a much better experience
why

If they went back and made a 2D Sprite based Metroidvania set in the original timeline, absolutely. Whether Konami has the chops to pull it off still is debatable but I'll take a thousand stabs at the concept if one lands.

Bloodstained is currently my only hope and, as good as it looks to me, it's still just...not Castlevania. I think I'll enjoy the shit out of the game, I just know when all is said and done I'll still wish I had a new entry in the original series.

Attached: 1557438416598.png (1431x1188, 837K)

I will only buy it if they do it well. I don't want to send the message that I will pay for a game even if it's executed poorly. I didn't buy Rondo+SOTN, because the retards used the PSP version, which tells me it was a mere cash-grab.

Thought I spelled it out clearly in my post. I personally prefer buying games for a given platform when possible just to own them, but moreover I want to show support for the series. I want a second collection with the Metroidvanias and I want a new entry.

Genuinely curious since I never played it, were there issues with the PSP port other than changes in dialog? Did anything change negatively gameplay wise?

Attached: 1557165062676.png (793x663, 430K)

I'll buy it if they didn't fuck up the emulation somehow.

People remember all the Castlevania games fondly excluding the 3D ones, even Rondo that came out on PC Engine (a platform that was never available in the west,TG-16 doesn't really count) is still loved because its that damn good.

I'm getting it. I like the old games but what I'm really hoping for is a second collection. I'm glad other game companies are putting out their older games on the eshop. Nintendo is dead set against having the VC and only wants to offer nes games on the online mess. I'm happy I have this alternative.

Non one remembers The Adventure fondly though.

Not sure, but not using the one with the iconic dialogue is incredibly out-of-touch.

This, I'm waiting til the autists pick through it and make a giant collage of every single change or mistake.

I'm happy they included Belmont's Revenge. It really bugged me that it never came to the virtual console.

>giving money to konami ever again

worst gooks in history

Doom recovered just fine

I'm not buying it. The gameplay does not hold up to modern standards and I've got no nostalgic feelings for any of these games. Just give me a bundle with SOTN, the GBA games and the DS games and I would instantly buy it.

They've made one Anniversary comp already. It's literally the ACA titles with a frontend.

Why is the sound different from the ACA releases though?

Yeah, it really should have been Rebirth. My only real disappointment with the collection.

Attached: 1557438476185.jpg (1240x1754, 1.92M)

I wish it had SotN and the handheld games.

this. I see streamers play nes games on original hardware or an everdrive and I'm like why. you can disable sprite flickering and slowdown on emulators. not to mention at this point some emulators have literally less input lag than original hardware

what idiot would get this when you can emulate all of them easily?

no one fucking plays castlevania 1 or 3. they're shit. stream yourself playing it RIGHT fucking now and having fun you literally can't. because they aren't fun

I’ll buy it if they don’t fuck it up disastrously. If it gets them to make a real new game then that’s great.

Considering they recently released Symphony of the Night and the pc version of rondo of blood on ps4. Will rondo and Dracula x be in or just Dracula x

Name a collection of games you would recommend people buy, specifically games that have already been released in your region.

For what it's worth, Konami keeps calling this the "first" collection, so hopefully that's an indicator that another one is planned focusing on the handheld games.

I suspect Requiem will eventually be released in other platforms and sold separately since they know SOTN is the biggest gem in their cache.

Zoomy zoom zoom opinions discarded

Doom wasn't that good to begin with just like all FPS that are not hybrids.

None of those.

I can't because any game that you can get in a collection you can emulate for free

I’m playing Circle of the Moon, really liking it so far.

Modern platformers seldom have any actual platforming it seems. Regardless, the controls are a little clunky but the game is challenging and fun. Though I had an nes growing up, I never got to play the classicvanias until a few years ago, and now 1 and 3 are two of my favorite titles on the system. If you like platformers and can adapt to different control schemes you'll probably like it.

easily the hardest metroidvania

Non niggers and jews desperate to save a buck.

Here's hoping frioendo.

They announced all 8 titles already. No I won't spoonfeed you but neither are in it.

>t. Savescummer

git gud

What is a "zoomer"?

I ask this unironically

Then why is your complaint specifically directed at the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and not all of them?

>just the NES games

Attached: 1257699861339.jpg (260x282, 14K)

Why are you being a pedant?

>implying that buying this will show Konami anything besides "we'll buy these rereleases, keep em coming"

yeah this.

Capcom at least still makes new games so buying MM11 showed that people still care.

hell yeah I'd buy the GBA or DS titles again

You

Its pretty disapointing that we didnt at least get one gba game but i will still buy it

>GBA

and by that i think you mean Aria AND NOTHING ELSE

will this be shit like the arcade collection?

i'm not paying for a bunch of roms unless there's a nice package for it.

Why does the JP version of this collection have the english version of CV2?

That's exactly what I want. Give me more Castlevania games and throw some Suikoden out there, too.

I actually loved it.

I want to give headpats to Miriam's girlfriend!

Attached: Albus Approves.jpg (845x940, 324K)

I just want M2 to make another Classic Castlevania game like Rebirth.

8-10 levels with a 2nd playable character alongside Belmont, Konami isn't even in the business of making AAA games anymore so something like this shouldn't cost them that much.

Attached: 1557753359049.jpg (604x604, 28K)

>miriam is a chestlet

Castlevania 3 is great.

Circle is fucking amazing. The best blend between Classic and Metroidvania. Really wish they'd bring back the card system for something.

>no Rondo
>no Rebirth
Fuck you, fuck Konami and fuck Sony.

Yes, I am perfectly fine communicating that.

Only if Miriam approves.

Uhm, I already asked Miriam, baka user. Gee.

Why do people like the gameboy games? Not the gameboy advance games but the original. It has to be purely nostalgia there.

Circle of the moon is great

Lol, look at you whining like a faggot.

I was born in the 80s and I found the old Castlevanias unplayable without abusing savestates. And Castlevania II plays like unfinished shit.

Honestly the only game I can think of that was equally frustrating was Zelda II, but at least that game let's you save. Castlevania 1/3 couldn't even halfass a password system.

Besides Legends they have some good level design and some cool ideas.

The whip powerup system works better and climbing ropes is better than stairs.

>I was born in the 80s and I found the old Castlevanias unplayable without abusing savestates.

Zoomer not in the heart but in the mind

I already bought all the games in the collection multiple times. I already showed Konami there's support for the series. They're the ones who gave up on the series. I'm not going to reward them by giving them more money. Especially after they killed the series (and everything else).

Attached: 1536527478489.jpg (900x684, 127K)

while AoS is the best game no contest, CotM and HoD have their merits and are definetly worth a playthrough

No one likes the original Adventure but Belmonts Revenge is pretty damn good

Never played Legends though

Nah man, I am just one of those people who play games for fun and relaxation, not for a "sense of accomplishment and achievement". I achieve plenty IRL so I don't have to torture myself with bullshit in an attempt to be feel like a worthwhile person.

I am the same but i don't suck that hard, you just don't like 1 and 3 because of your inability to play videogames at a decent level.

>uhhhhh zoom
>phew now I can just keep pretending that anyone actually likes castlevania 1 or 3

Can we choose between the original and localized versions of the games? i'd rather play Akumajo Densetsu than CV3

Lol, nice attempt to save face faggot. Everyone knows the only ones who can get through these games without savestates are the try-hards who play for hours everyday to "git gud". For those of us with lives and successes outside of videogames, that makes games like this cheap, unplayable trash.

Cope and seethe more.

It also has Super Castlevania IV, an SNES game, Bloodlines, a Genesis game, and the two Adventure games, Game Boy games.

real talk they just needed enough games to fill out an "origins" collection, as they call it

I think you replied to the wrong person pal, that response doesn't make sense in this context. Maybe you meant to reply to or ?

>I already bought all the games in the collection multiple times.

Even Bloodlines?

You are implying that 1 and 3 are hard games, they are not,try a shmup or any actual hard game for a change.

At least the Netflix anime was good.

Where the fuck is the trophy list? I'm salivating at the thought of getting the platinum, WHERE'S THE LIST WHERES THE TROPHY LIST I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT NOW

Attached: 1544498854875.jpg (400x396, 36K)

You didn't buy Bloodlines multiple times.

It's weird. Are they going to omit the "licensed by Nintendo" part?

>Regularly regarded as some of the hardest games on a console known for it's difficulty
>"These games are easy buddy try a shump."

How do you deal with this level of retardation?

Tomorrow most likely. I'm hoping it's handled different than the Arcade collection, but I know it probably won't be.

No. Japan is even forced to play the NA version of Castlevania II in this collection.

Is this even coming to the EU? There is no Steam page

By getting a clue and try to get gud

Will this have save states?

I guess so. Come to think of it, Megaman 7 and X2 was also of this species.

Something as simple as beat each game is fine with me. I hope they don't ask to do any Second Quests or beat entire games with no subweapons.

>Regularly regarded as some of the hardest games on a console

Yeah by people who only played Castlevania and Megaman, the NES was full of incredibly hard games that make 3's difficulty pale in comparison.

What the fuck

>plays like shit
>comparing a 30+ year old game to modern shit

If you're a brainlet, sure.

It's like speaking with Chris Chan levels of retard, I swear.

I doubt that very seriously, Castlevania I was designed as a quarter inhaling high score chaser that "encouraged" multiple playthroughs, and III has alternate pathways, characters, and the ability to replay earlier levels with new characters. If by some miracle 1 doesn't require multiple playthroughs, you can still be damn certain 3 will.

Friendly reminder that CotM is repeating hallway and enemy garbage with retarded equipment design.

Retards gonna retard I guess, I am done taking the bait.

I'm mostly waiting for myriam's game, but bloodlines + super castlevania 4 are tempting as fuck

replyee here
lol we all know it's going to be fucking score based because that's the easiest to implement

Wat
Circle of the Moon is nothing like that

What games are on it?

The Castlevania collection was done by a different dev team to the Arcade collection, so trophy similarities are not logical to assume. Shit like "beat every level in III" or get all endings in II would be fine. The base games aren't even difficult, autists just like to hype up the difficulty for street cred when they clearly never played them. If they set autistic challenges like no sub weapons I'm gonna be annoyed.

No, it wasn't. Even if it didn't have the Castlevania name, it was Adult Swim level crap. A couple good episodes, then the rest is just mindless gore, crotch and sex jokes. The fact that it does have the Castlevania name and is redoing the story for Castlevania III makes it even worse.

>Miriam and Aradia

I'd love to see another 2d Sprite based Metroidvania. I don't trust Konami to handle a 1999 game with Julius, so I wonder what else they could do. A third Soma game? Another Shanoa one? I'd love to see another Shanoa game, but even presuming OoE takes place in the early 1800's, having OoE, a hypothetical second game, and then Quincy at tail end of the 1800's would make it feel a bit cramped with Dracula constantly popping up and all, but I guess it'd work.

If you own a switch, you could play them on the go.

Great, then you should be able to post the Platinum the day it comes out no problem.

Of course all that will prove is that you are a total loser whose only sense of accomplishment comes from video games, normal people cannot get through a game with such shitty design. That's why it's regarded as one of the hardest series in a console known for ridiculous levels of difficulty already.

Cringe. Try playing the games instead of watching AVGN videos, zoomer. The only difficult part is the doppelganger in 3 because it was designed by a subhuman faggot who had no concept of game design. Thankfully it can be cheesed by changing characters in mid air.

Or play them from the comfort of your bed.

God Adventure Rebirth was so good. I'm fucking pissed it's not in the collection.

CotM is a legitimate metroidvania with a whole castle to explore, I'm sure you're confusing it with one of the bad castlevania games which are exactly what you describe.

retard

I legitimately hope this raises the amount of Belmont porn.

Holy shit what a collossial faggot you are.

For the record I have beaten the trilogy, aside from the end of Zelda II and Lost Levels, Castlevania 1 and 3 were the only NES games where I was forced to resort to save states. The games are horribly designed to be far more difficult than any normal person can handle and are clearly meant solely for weeaboo losers with no other sense of purpose in life.

Circle of the moon is the best gba game

Has anyone recieved like a review copy or something? Does it have famicom versions of the games, NES, a weird mix? Does it mix features of both? And most importantly, is the japanese version different from the one sold elsewhere?

git gud

>Castlevania 1 and 3 were the only NES games where I was forced to resort to save states.
Cringe.

What does this offer over just emulating the games myself?

Lol, you talk like a zoomer faggot. Figures you've been projecting this whole time.

What a fucking loser lol.

Trophies.

Getting rid of that obnoxious money cluttering your pockets.

No.

It can't even claim that, retroarch has the same trophy bullshit built in. Though I still dont understand the obsession with achievements in general

You can play Classicvania on your Bloodborne machine, also trophies

Gay.

You have to understand the mindset of these losers, these achievements and trophies are the closest they will get to any real accomplishment.

It's a new release for the series after years of nothing and LoS2 almost killing the whole IP

>seething trophlets
150+ platinums and counting.

I would but the game selection is absolute garbage

I'll wait for a sale when it's $10 or under just for kid Dracula

Stop disrespecting Ecclesia.

How do I play Adventure Rebirth now that the eshop is dead? Buy a used Wii and hope that it still has a copy of it installed?

Replace CotM and OoE and sure. Maybe put HoD last

I'm really hoping it's in a second collection if they do go through with one like they implied. This first collection seems to be going in chronological order so despite being classicvanias, it's specifically classic games up to Bloodlines and nothing beyond it.

Though this has me concerned about whether or not they'd bother putting in Contra Rebirth into the Contra collection. You'd assume so, because that's eight games and there's only so many Contra games, but they already revealed that the collection has the arcade Super Contra and the NES version Super C, and while they haven't revealed the NES version of the original Contra, they already showed the arcade version and I'd be surprised if they didn't pad it with the NES one too.

C3 is a legitimately amazing, SC4 is easier to get into and more consistent but not as good overall IMO, Bloodlines is alright, C1 and Kid Dracula are fun novelties, C2 is an unfinished rushjob, the Gameboy ones you can skip completely.

Konami is allergic to NES Contra for some reason.

They'll put Contra NES in the same way they put Simon's Quest after the first reveal. I think they consider it a surprise or something, the wankers.

Even then, what other 3 Contra games would be there? The PS2 ones?

SotN helped Castlevania survive the chopping block from Konami, so if anything it put the series on life support for a few more years.

>giving money to modern konami
>especially for a lazy and poorly put together collection

Fuck you.

The series was marked for literally death before he started working on Castlevania, plus he had 4+ years with Konami before he started working with the Rondo team. As the other user said, if not for him, there would be no more Castlevania for many, many years. Even now.

But IGA also wasn't the head of SotN. He took over after SotN. And his games that followed were mostly SotN clones with less content. And even after leaving Konami, his indie game is yet another SotN clone. He's not improving anything, just copying.

Attached: IGA_on_platforming.jpg (683x377, 68K)

AoS > CotM > PoR > SotN > DoS > OoE > HoD
Realizing I'm right is called "growing up".

Don't care much as I already played those to death and have all of them in the Yea Forums collection anyway.
Waiting for Bloodstained, now that the game doesn't look like dogshit anymore.

The series wasn't marked for death. They had multiple teams making more Castlevania games. IGA came in and declared himself the lead of all future Castlevania games (going as far as dictating canon). And Konami just went along with this.

What made Castlevania survive so long before was having half a dozen different teams each making their own game. When one person took over the series, it started stagnating. Sure, lots of people liked the SotN formula. But it wasn't going to last forever. And then IGA went full stupid with the 3D games.

So... 19.99 for four roms?
Fuck that shit

What should the next game, if they make one, be about?

8 plus a book.

That platforming comment is right though. Difficult jumps are fine but those nearly impossible jumps can fuck off.

Demon Castle War 1999
Castlevania 3 remake
3D game with weighty combat married with the acrobatics of Ninja Gaiden (Xbox reboot)
There are many directions worth exploring, and 3D certainly has room to be done right, as Souls clearly displayed.

Soma going full Dracula in the future after his waifu dies.

IGA games don't have difficult jumps though. Not only the jump itself, but having a double jump option. There are a few Catlevania games with really dumb precise jumps. Castlevania Adventure on GB has the worst one. But IGA takes it to the opposite extreme.

If they never port the handheld games I will murder someone

Compared to the titcow that is her girlfriend? Yes.

>buy games I've already bought multiple times to show there's still interest in the series.

I hate this meme. Konami can go fuck themselves

There are some but you can bypass them later with upgrades like double jump. I'm fine with this (rewarding players who attempt difficult jumps by giving them an item or health buff early).

QUESTION:
How you would handle the dual screen problem if the DS games were in a collection?
Picture-in-Picture? Widescreen with Left half being Top and Right half being Bottom screen?
How do you handle shit like Soma's sigils from DoS without compromising the integrity of the game (i.e. removing them outright)?
I fear this is what will hold those games back.

>Konami can go fuck themselves
they sure can, as if buying a lazy collection of roms is going to prompt them to make everyone's dream castlevania
fat fucking chance

Someone doesn't remember the Wind glyph in OoE that even Smash's spirit battle referenced.

>zoomer!!
>shits out zoomer opinion
fuck off rat

>How you would handle the dual screen problem if the DS games were in a collection?
There is a port of one of the DS games that just changed the aspect ratio to vertical 16:9 in mobile phones, so maybe that?

I'm reminded of OoE's waterfall room early on. If you didn't know to hug the left wall for two secrets, good luck to you.

Hey, Capcom did do that and Megaman 11 was a nice game.

>No Rondo
Hahahhahahahhahahhaha fuck you ninger
why could sega make some cool ass fucking genesis collections with like 30 games but konami is too jewish to put more than 4 roms on a blu-ray

>no Rondo
I'll consider it anyway, it's pretty cheap

Would you be willing to accept a 2.5D game set in the original timeline? For example a 1999 game?

Just curious.

I recommend you fuck off and stop encouraging people to throw money at half-assed cash grabs that do nothing but show a garbage company like Konami that they can keep putting minimal effort in because sheep with no principles won't hold then accountable. When has "buy this and we'll give you what you want" EVER held true. It's backlash like dmc that lead to fans getting what they want not blind allegiance.

I'd probably remove it and put the glyphs on auto-succeed. It's not like they add much to the game. Portrait of Ruin will lose the option to control your second character but that will mostly just prevent quadruple jump. I can't remember what OoE used the touchscreen for.

It was decent, just unmemorable. There were no melodies you could remember and hum to yourself later.

I don't think OoE used the touch function at all.

I've played and beaten every Classicvania at least once. AMA

Attached: castlevania_chronicles_(v1.1)-180813-112106.png (1440x1080, 771K)

As I've said, Megaman's forays into making collections have worked decently.

Sure, Capcom is not Konami though. Anyone, name three good things Konami has done this decade.

Can you explain the timeline?

The bosses in DoS sometimes have pretty meager health bars but compensate for this by having obtuse and annoying glyphs that you'll likely screw up at least once, like the Puppetmaster or Lord of the Flies.
Removing the Glyph function neuters the challenge of those bosses.

You can just have a villain that isn't Dracula. Lord knows enough people just grab Dracula's toenail and use it to gain tremendous power.

Rondo of Blood
SOTN with OOE being a very, VERY close second.
That's hard as shit to say but probably DUst.
This might be basic bitch taste but unironically Alucard, Shanoa, and maybe Death. Its hard to pick which Belmont I like.
The Vampire Killer.
Yes. Despite hiccups I am looking forward to Bloodstained.
Curse of The Moon is good.
Eh, maybe.

Remove glyph mini games in DoS -- it was annoying originally anyway. Portrait I'm curious about since the second set of playable characters were completely touch screen based. I imagine some decent developers could port their control scheme over but I feel like they may just get removed.

They weren't terribly fun anyway so I wouldn't be bothered but it would suck if they didn't put in the work.

I don't recall any touch screen elements in OoE.

Attached: 1557443232126.jpg (530x750, 521K)

Oh, sure, user, I agree. However, Capcom was a bit on the low scale until fairly recently. Konami may be following their business model in that regard.

i hope not, you casual

Ok, game has infinite continues after all

Come on now

It's just a time saver.

I don't see why not, I just want a good game, a new game. A Castlevania game, not a game that's got the Castlevania name on it but it plays the same as whatever the flavor of the decade action game is. No, I don't want to play God of War Castlevania, there's God of War for that. Ninja Gaiden is for Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry the same, keep that shit out of my mania.

why do they want to make castlevania "grounded" and "gritty"?

They're going by cartridge releases (1993 rerelease of I instead of the FDS version, too, but not necessarily the USA), and the FC version of III was cartridge based so I don't see why not. The problem is whether it would be needed to buy the japanese version for that or you can just access the ROM through the european one.

I don't think AoS even mentioned what Graham actually did before he convinced himself he was Dracula's reincarnation. He looks like a missionary or preacher so I just assumed he was.

See II was just on disk system on FamiCom

I'm guessing they were too lazy to emulate the FDS.

Attached: cv coll jp.jpg (1021x567, 317K)

>why do they want to make castlevania "grounded" and "gritty"?
I know its a meme, but Castlevania is more "lovecraftian" than "edgy gritty vampire shit". What with Chaos being the actual force of evil and monsters demons coming from him. It also has goofy and coloful things mixed in to make it stand out, like the maids in the DS games having their skirt fly up when you use black holes or vaccum cleaners, it's charming

Meanwhile Trevor is murdering random unimportant church people and Sypha hates the church

why does the japanese version cost 10 dollars more lol

Would be funny if they used the original NES rom of Castlevania that had a high chance of crashing on the Grim Reaper boss battle too.

>>no JP roms for better music in CV3 and uncensored blood and crosses in other games
We currently have no info on that. It could perfectly be the FC versions, just the cartridge ones.

>why do they want to make castlevania "grounded" and "gritty"?
Because westerners.

Outside of 2, obviously.

>text is in English
The game was convoluted enough for native speakers. How are Japs going to cope with this game in a foreign language? Christ

That JP picture shows the PAL cartridge version of Simon's Quest while all the other versions are the JP original boxes. That's not a good sign.

Would be interested in getting it for the Switch but both the Genesis and Megaman X collections have had horrible input lag.

X collections lag on every console and PC. They have never bothered to fix it either.

Same

Attached: castlevania_chronicles_(v1.1)-180814-015015.png (1440x1080, 443K)

They'd specify if it was in Japanese like they did with CV2 on the Japanese page.

Attached: cv coll na.jpg (1027x461, 268K)

Even less reason to be excited, Unless that Castlevania 2-pack was good

Why the hell is the English version showing the PAL version too? They wouldn't, would they?

Maybe Konami had whoever translated the 100+ page book retranslate the game, but that would mean some effort would have been required.

Yeah, the gun was fun as shit. Really looking forward to them in Bloodstained since they're their own weapon class with different ammo types and shit. Looks great.

No no, we KNOW it's the USA version. The thing is if the others are going to use the FC or the NES version. Or both. Or whether they're locking the FC ROMs away on the japanese version and the NES ROMs on the USA/EUR ones. It's a fucking mess, why can't they be a bit more transparent about this?

Yeah, but suppose you get it on the Switch, where most games are region free and language options can be changed in the console (so, if you get a game in the japanese eshop and has an english language option, you get english): would they put both versions of the game in the file and change access with language or are they making different versions of the collection by region? Or can you access both versions of the game through menus, Megaman style? Because if the second scenario's the case, the japanese version is the way to go without any doubt, wouldn't it.

>buy games you already own and have played 100 times so the developer will make more

fuck you

The text specifically says North america. I don't think they would be such dicks.

But I don't want to support Konami...

Course, I bought SotN on PS4, so I'll probably get this too...

Most of the dialogue in the JP version was just as obtuse with wrong information as well. Even the 'graveyard duck' line was in the Japanese version.

The arcade collection last month had different versions of the collection by region.

>seething this much because of an optional feature

They aren't hard. The reason SotN is even easier than those is because SotN had some of the most fluid movement in any sprite based game. As well as way more customization options than most other games have. The SotN clones that came after had less options and inferior sprites, which made movement more stiff and slow.

Basically, Alucard could attack three times in air or twice on the ground in less than a second, as well as sliding back or jumping instantly to avoid damage. Soma and the others in the post SotN games take over two seconds just to do one swing. And the cooldown time is even longer, making dodging pointless. You just become an HP sponge. And because of this, the only "difficulty" of the game is doing a little extra leveling to get a little more HP to survive more hits. Otherwise, you just power through enemies/bosses with offensive attacks and no dodging.

tl;dr They're not hard.

It's kinda sad that the only reason why I would buy it is because of Castlevania Bloodlines. I honestly don't care much else for the others.

I really thought they were gonna add Rondo of Blood and SotN. It was gonna be a instant buy for me so I can play it on the Switch.

>I really thought they were gonna add Rondo of Blood and SotN. It was gonna be a instant buy for me so I can play it on the Switch.
They're probably releasing another Castlevania collection if this ends up selling well. They did say it's the first. However, Rondo and SOTN are kinda in a fucked spot with the fucked Requiem collection.

People are saying this is just the 8 and 16 bit games, while a second collection will have Rondo and the Metroidvanias.

Dunno where they're getting it from.

I never said they were hard. I said they're not piss-easy.
SotN is too easy. SotN's movement is replicated in AoS, DoS, PoR and OoE. Only CotM and HoD have different movement.
Difficulty is relative to the arsenal you have. Enemies in Castlevania 1, a MUCH harder game than SotN, would be a joke if you could control SotN Alucard in Castlevania 1. And considering the games I mentioned have pratically the same movement you have in SotN, and are harder, they're therefore, harder than SotN by any metric. SotN not only is too easy in terms of enemy and boss patterns, but also in terms of stats and specially ways to break the game. Crissaegrim is broken, Soulsteal is broken, Shield Rod + Medusa Shield is broken, Shield Rod + Alucard Shield is broken, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few more. And the Shield Rod is really easy to obtain, and Soul Steal is always with you, provided you have enough mana.

I know where you're coming from, but you're completely wrong. I feel like you're either new to videogames and game design, or you're trying really hard to defend SotN.

Miriam! Give your girlfriend's shoe back right now!

Her legs are longer than her torso and head.

>paying Konami for a lazy rom pack

fuck them, I don't care anymore, they won't ever make a good CV again anyway.

The original announcement page for the collection said "In this first collection..." and it was later revised.

Originally the collection ad said "this is the first Castlevania collection", which led to inquiries. The Contra one, for example, did not (they can't make more Contra collections either lol, no games left) They recently changed it, so it either means they're onto something or nothing at all. By this point, a bit of tarot and star reading is more faithful than pretending to know whatever the fuck's Konami gonna do with this franchise.

That would make sense. I think I only like two of the Metroidvanias (Aria of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon). If they just added Bloodlines with SotN, Rondo and the first two Castlevanias for the NES, I would've been fine. Don't really give two shits about Kid Dracula or Super Castlevania.

It was basically just a bad translation/wording. There's no plans for another Castlevania collection. This one will be a one-off.

>SotN's movement is replicated in AoS, DoS, PoR and OoE.
No its not. For the reasons I pointed out. Inferior sprites, slower movement, etc. This is made obvious because you can unlock Alucard in DoS and he moves a lot more fluid than Soma does. So much so, you can beat the whole game without any souls.

So you basically just repeated my point. Thanks?

>I know where you're coming from, but you're completely wrong.
How am I wrong when you literally repeated and confirmed my entire point?

How was Lament gameplay wise.
Storywise heard it's good but I keep on hearing the 3D castlevanias were all mediocre at best.

Konami is lazy enough for just one...

They could always port the two PS2 Contra games, by the way.

That's a common design style in shoujo/sienen anime.

I wouldn't be surprised if the second collection doesn't have Rondo or SotN because of the Requiem pack on PS4.

>People on here unrionically believe Konami is going to put it out the DS vanias with their dual screens and touchscreen gimmicks in a collection
>Not knowing how lazy as fuck Konami is, changing entire gameplay mechanics for consoles

And Hard Corps: Uprising.

On the other hand, this could be an excuse to get money from Xbone and Switch owners who are mad at not getting Requiem.

This, they'll probably do Rondo, SotN, Aria, and either Circle or Harmony for the Metroidvania collection. Would like to see Rebirth if possible.

>nopan
What a lewd witch.

Last time i checked Requiem isn't on PC either

Well, they have no choice, don't they. 8 games is a lot considering non-Sega compilations these days, so they decided to go all out on Contra. They do have enough games for a second collection on Castlevania, but those require actual porting instead of just emulation, so they're iffy. I'd like a Suikoden collection better tbqh

They're definitely not going through the hassle of contacting ArcSys for a 20 dollar collection. Even PS2 is unlikely.

Its not. Sony paid for exclusive rights. The whole thing was Sony's idea, allegedly.

Considering how shit the arcade classic collection was I have no faith that this will be good. Konami can piss off.

>They put Adventure in
Idiots even Haunted castle would have been a better novelty choice

They could just use another version of SOTN and Rondo. It's not like Konami haven't done a gazillion versions of SOTN in the same gen before.

Haunted Castle was in the arcade collection.

Really should have been Adventure Rebirth, though...

>CV3
>It's the NA version
Dropped

Rondo isn't a metroidvania so that wouldn't happen.

I was just pairing them up based off of their proximity and their pairing in Requiem/the PSP ports, but yeah Rondo ought to make in in the nex collection regardless.

>people still give Konami the benefit of the doubt
>they still think Konami could revive the Castlevania games
>they still think Konami might make a better compilation bundle down the road
It's sad how much customers will put up with.

Attached: 1536536060365.png (288x344, 22K)

Didn't the arcade collection let you pick the version of its games?

>they still think Konami might make a better compilation bundle down the road
I quite like the selection on this one (solid classicvanias outside of 1GB) It's just that they probably will do another.

Damn. I forgot the arcade collection was a thing.

I'll still be here bemoaning no Rebirth still too.

>unfair
Castlevania is great at being challenging but fair. You can see exactly what you did wrong. You're just a shitters if you think anything in the games is unfair. Even the hallway or whatever shit people cite is fair and requires good timing.

How does anyone know this?
Do anyone have access to the game?

Why did they even bother putting Haunted Castle in the 7/8 shmup collection?

It would help if Konami would showcase some information about specifics or release review copies.

To get shmups like you to buy it even if you don't like shmucks

Apparently they focused more on "arcade games" than "shmups" specifically. Its just a coincidence that said genre is the bulk of Konami's output. Besides DDR.

Can I ever be forgiven? I save scummed before Death and Dracula because i got sick of going through their respective levels perfectly and jobbing to the boss.

Excellent post.

Well, the games were limited to the 80s (meaning no Detanna Twinbee or shit like that) and most of their games were shmups by that time.

As long as you were able to beat those levels multiple times then you already learned all the lessons of the level.
Think of what you did as the Souls-equivalent of running past all the enemies to rematch the boss.

I'm definitely going to buy this. I've been wanting to try early Castlevanias lately but they only have nushit on Steam.
