Xbone
unironically this
this unless the kb+m game controls are complete dogshit because devs didn't bother to make them work (Dark Souls 2 for example)
Shit d-pad
WiiU Pro Controller
when does the d-pad ever have to be "good" though
I use the Wii classic controller + winnusoft program
Works for everything except dark souls
>digital triggers
I get really bothered everytime I see this posted because I have one I bought at launch, and the D pad is fucking great. But the goddamn shoulder buttons on mine are fucked now and constantly drop input when I hold them down.
>zoomer that's never played any game made before analog sticks
Steam controller. Its a good pleb filter too
>not having a dedicated emu controller
There really isn't a controller with a fantastic dpad that can function with modern games as well.
Unless you're playing a racing game or some other vehicle sim, there's no need for analog triggers at all
I want one of these but saw plenty of people showing the dpad breaking after a couple hours of use.
>unless you need analog triggers, you don't need analog triggers
wow
Xbone controllers are amazing for racing games
Xbox One Elite Controller
desu
Xbone elite.
No analogue triggers is fine for a console that doesn't have controllers with analogue triggers, but it's retarded for PC. Also, shit d-pad.
emulating gamecube games like mario sunshine you prob want analog triggers.
GTAV. Definitely not a racing game or vehicle sim.
>year 1985+15+19
>want a gamepad with good d-pad but still with analogs
>dualshock 4 is like the only sensible choice because every other pad is xbone copy
SNES controller for 2D games.
Xbone controller for 3D games.
KB+M for shooters, RTS, any game that requires precision aiming.

DS4 because the dpad is great.
Steam controller is fun to fuck around with. Paddles are fucking amazing to configure for each game since it gives you more options.
>45 leafbucks for a wired controller with no sticks
lmao what a ripoff
they're are so small and the range of movement on the sticks is so short.
>tfw they screwed up the shoulder buttons on these and they don’t click as much as the ones on original controllers
So close otherwise.
Came for this.
Get one of those adapters and it's kino 80-hour battery life is yours for the taking.
problem is there's no authentic wii u pro controller anymore. now it's just mostly chinese knock offs.
It's kind of a pain in the ass to get going on PC isn't it?
I got an xbone controller to replace the 360 one I've had for like half a decade and I'm a bit disappointed with it considering what it retails at.
Feels cheaper build quality out the box, and it's only had a couple of months use but the right bumper is squeaky and right trigger is getting stiff already.
Also microshit have removed all trace of support for w7 from official sources so you have to dig around for shady drivers to get the fucking thing working.
What controllers have tactile D-Pads?
For example, I love the feel of the Switch/3DS D-Pads because there isn't any "mush" like some of the older ones.
The Gravis Gamepad Pro.
Had that shit with bleem a million years ago, still use it now
it's best for non-analogue support games though, and since I have a playstation I just use it for shit like freedom planet, sonic mania, or 20xx
runner-up would be the 360 controller alongside the many slight alternatives, for instance there's Rock Candy ones that have different bumper switches and they allow for a much easier press
PS4 controllers are also fucking exceptional but getting vibration on them is a bitch
To be fair those shoulder buttons were barely used on the saturn.
what's the best alternative to these? I hate analog triggers
Switch Joycons? Because I like those, even if they're shaped stupidly. Short throw and clicky. Xbone Elite's Dpad is kinda like that.
I use my DS4. It may not be perfect but it's adaptable. The analogs are nice for racing and ARPGs and the road is fine for emus and fighting games. Is it perfect? No, but it can be used for so many games I don't need anything else.
Fuck I hate using mobile. The dpad is fine is what I meant to say.
WiiU Pro controller works good. But you need a Bluetooth dongle and it takes a few minutes to setup.
>$140
eeeeh?! I'm gonna have to beg mom.
How's the feel on the sticks? Are they loose like in the xbone
Yeah the joycons. I was thinking of trying to use them on my PC but I remember it not working at the time I researched it. Might have improved by now.
Is the D-Pad different between the regular xbone controller and the elite? $150 for a controller is a little much to me.
Yeah, i also replaced my old 360 controller with a new Xbone one and it really does feel cheaper despite being two times more expensive.
Looking from the pictures i thought this thing was going to be sturdy and yet the 360 controller feels properly solid and high quality while the Xbone one feels like cheap plastic.
keyboard and mouse
steam controller
Lies, chinkstation controllers have buttons too close to the home button for my fucking caveman hands. the xbooob buttons are separated in quadrants spread evenly with the home button and pause and share button at the top where you can't graze over them mid game
It needs to be at least semi-reliable for input. Though anyone saying that they need it for digital movement is retarded because the D-Pad in that position will always suck dick for movement.
It's better to have the option and not need it than to need the option and not have it.
Unfortunately analog triggers aren't enough for sunshine, you're missing the clicky bit at the end that no modern controller but the Steam controller decided to have and the Steam controller is shit. Which is a shame because it does make the triggers far more versatile than just having analog input and while I guess you can approximate it there is no substitute for that tactile feeling.
It's a shame the bumpers are shit and the paddles are so stiff on top of the controller being an ergonomic nightmare.
Anything with gyro.
Steam Input boys rise up.
Just get a GameCube controller and pc adaptor for emulating GameCube
Hold the FUCKING phone.
Steam can read Gyro aiming? Can I gyro aim on third person shooter games?
Pls respond.
Yeah, it's better than a regular xbone. It's also way too expensive I agree.
I think it is possible to use switch joycons on PC now though. I have a mayflash magic-ns to use my xbone controller on my switch, and I think that can be used to use the joycons on PC.
You can rebind whatever in Steam, bonus points if the game is coded with Steam Input in mind. There's also community bindings. I'll give you the tl;dr, fren:
>Valve opened up Steam controller functionality for a few controllers natively (DS4, Switch Pro Controller)
>Works in Big Picture mode, and I think desktop mode now
>All you need to do is sync up your controller to your PC through Bluetooth or USB and have the game run through Steam
>Automatically grabs the most popular bindings for your controller from the community (Half-Life 2, DS4)
>Enjoy gyro in whatever. CS:GO actually has a surprisingly good binding out of the box
>Press the home button to rebind
>Some games name the bindings if they were coded with this in mind, so it feels less like XPadder (Triangle for Menu rathar than Triangle for Enter)

Try it out. I's pretty cool.
But I already do user. I collect bullshit.
I still think that the dual stage triggers are a neat idea and can be put to use in just about any game.
Yes. However if you have a DS4 it's quite glitchy whenever the game has its own DS4 bindings since Steam won't hide the DS4 from other programs.
