I remember a huge influx of kids coming to Yea Forums after K Rool was revealed, before that you were insignificant. You had your chance with the ballot but you just weren't enough.

I think Banjo chances are high if not confirmed for smash because they've been requested since melee and mostly likely would have been in if not for rares purchase. and if yooka laylees success ( at least in funding ) is anything to go by nintendo and Microsoft would make more than enough for both of them. And Banjo is still well know ether threw lets plays for younger people or people playing the games them selves

Me personally:
Aside from obviously being a former made-for-Nintendo exclusive, (and probably still would be if not for the buyout) he still has a large fanbase who would love to see him in Smash. I know you're gonna tell me fanpolls don't count, but K. Rool and Ridley did well in them and ended up playable. Even Geno got a Mii costume off of it. I'm willing to believe if they did well on various fanpolls throughout the years, they did decent enough in the official ballot.
And I just think the character, his moveset, his music, and stages all fit smash bros like a fucking glove. Maybe Sakurai would see that too.
