How the heck do you get comfortable playing with this thing for smash. I usually play with a pro controller, I’m used to the b button being close to y for jump. Is this controller a memes for melee nostalgist or is it worth learning to use ?

I'd stick with the pro controller
Literally does not matter for Ultimate.
That’s what I figured. Got the gc controller to 1v1 my brother in law who grew up playing melee. I’ll stick to the pro controller
>t. Zoomer
The analog stick is better, but Ultimate doesn't really utilize it, so it's effectively the same as the pro controller. Some people prefer the button layout though.
>using a button for jump in Smash
Some people are just insufferable
>he wastes his time moving by pressing up on the stick instead of quickly tapping a button
Your inputs will be more sloppy than anyone who uses a button to jump, just remember that.
use X to jump and map special to Y
Have sex
Those of us that played since melee have had our hands grow up with the gamecube controller. They're molded by it, giving a perfect fit.
This just in. You are better with a controller that you are used to making the experience more comfortable. Furthermore, veterants feel more comfortable using the controller they started playing competitive Smash with and since most of them started with Melee and were given the option with Brawl and 4 and now Ulti, they kept to their habits.
Studies find that dumv zoomers like OP struggle to adapt to controllers they have no reasons to use, but ate up some meme about it veing better like stickfags elitists with Street Fighter.
Furthermore, OP is a faggot. More at eleven.
Not a bad idea. Thanks user I’ll give it a try
Hows that shorthop uair out of shield working for you user?
Oh that's right. You can't fucking do it because you keep accidentally doing full hop, and now you're in a salt compilation video.
>zoomer
Nigger I’ve been playing smash on the 64 since it came out. No one I knew owned a GameCube because they all bought a ps2s.
>you press a button to jump in a mario game
wooow
>retard discovers people have preferences
What exciting thread will we have next?
Why people shill that power A knock off? This is just a frankenstein pro controller, It does not even register as a GC controller on smash and that second Z button triggers me to no end
Because it was the only decent controller Nintendo controller for 13 damn years and everyone's muscle memory is tied to it
>tap jump
Not sure if bait or serious, but have fun missing out on an entire move, uptilt
As someone who played Smash with GameCube controller since the release day of Melee, just stick with the Pro Controller. I used Ultimate as the cutting point to switch to something more comfortable and convenient.
Literally the only major downside is the lack of octagonal gating on the analog edges, but it barely causes problems. I'm not going to tourneys or anything, after all.
I still can't believe tap-jump's default state is still "on". On that note, I REALLY fucking want to be able to completely disable smash attacks on the A button, and keep them limited to C-Stick. As is, I'm just dealing with tilt-stick.
I also am on the pro controller right now. Was a big gamecube controller guy at first, but when I had to play with the pro controller during a 7-player casual gathering, It kinda grew on me and I just started practicing with the pro controller from then. Hell I can manage playing on dual joy cons. Controller is not a big issue. Just don't use tap jump like this retard
Is that the Power A one?
>have enough buttons that X/Y could be bound to smash attacks like every smash clone has done
>they decide to do the inverse and bind tilts to the c-stick
