Looks like you used the masterkey. Not gonna tell you how you have to enjoy your game, but the intended way might have been better for your first playthrough. Not just skip, experience it and then decide for yourself if you want to skip. You'll also miss some loot.

The muck at the bottom accounts for less than a quarter of the level, and is dotted with islands of firm ground.

Get posion resist gear, and the iron ring purple moss and white moss deal with the bugs by using a bow, when you get to the bonfire hug the left side towards the boss room

Pick up a couple of Blooming Purple Moss from the undead lady merchant by the entrance to the lower undead burg. Toxic is annoying and it lasts forever and a half if the blowdart guys hit ya.

Blighttown was for some reason as far as I got in Dark Souls.
Got to the bottom at the end of a game session, but never went back it.
Didn't make a conscious decision to quit, just never picked it up again.

If you're running the PS3 version, 5 frames per second max. If the remastered or the PC with dsfix, a fun area whose bs gimmicks are only beaten by Sens Fortress.
Don't use the master key in first playthrough

Nah m8 throwing dung pies gets you toxic but the dung pie toxic only deals 7/sec while the blowdart fuckers toxic you for 30+/sec
