Really, I feel like if we were going to get any retro first party characters, they would have been in at base. I won't lie and say I didn't at least have the idea of a Wrecking Crew thing in the back of my mind after all of the content it seemed to get.

I think a lot of people forget that Captain Falcon unlike other characters has a completely original move set not based on any of the F-Zero games. Honestly I think Nintendo and Sakurai figured that their first party characters wouldn't make for really exciting DLC characters that you have to pay $5.99 for. They probably think third party reps like Joker draw a bigger crowd.

At this point, I'm fairly sure that if you're a first party Nintendo character that didn't make the base roster, then you're just not getting in, period. No second chances with DLC. The only possible exceptions are maybe characters that were made after the fact, particurly a new Pokemon or Fire Emblem rep. But at the moment, I just think it's all gonna be third party.

I think FE Heroes may be enough to get a legacy rep from the series in. That or we get Feh as a jack of all trades/cute mascot character.
