Hopefully announcement will come sooner than later. I can't imagine them not porting after 4.1 success.
5 is mostly great, I like all classes changes (aside of ranger stealing some air raider vehicles), but I'd say it has overall a bit weaker enemy and stage design. Tho DLC fixed that and made me suffer.
Can't wait for 6.

Air Raider is huge asset if he knows what he is doing.

Not Demon Army. It's got at least three waves with a bunch of transports and hectors in the third wave

well it is all about proper setup. Really depends on stage. I feel like you meant Scorching one
I'm actually playing mostly Air Raider, and had ranger buddy in 2 player online coop to beat it all.
in 4.1 my primary work was usually getting railgun and sniping hectors and transport ships as quickly as possible. Usually carrying some airstrikes, turrets or defense posts.
It's been awhile since I played 4.1, can't really remember correct setup we went with in that stage. But it did featured railguns for sure.

yeah, starting to recall a bit more. 3rd wave is last one and most brutal one. At that time I was at edge of the map with max 3 railguns ready to use, friend also got into one of them to destroy transport ships quicker, then I kept focusing on hectors and he on horde.
But I don't remember my rest equipment setup at all, maybe power post for quicker transport ship disposal? Those are primary targets.
Also I hardly used Strafe Plan airstrikes in 4.1, and only now in 5 understand how good they are against hordes, he can try that.

How good is DLC 2 for EDF5? I'm still working through DLC1 and am quite impressed at how Gain Ground-y the level/puzzles are, especially for the ranger.

well it has an attempt at making Demon Army 2.0.
You start surrounded by hives and giant pilons. Tho it doesn't spawn waves from everything as soon you attack and doesn't have drones, so it's more manageable. But on the other hand it does spawn silver spiders and gold ants on constant basis.
Or how about stage where there is nothing but horde of silver spiders.
Overall as good if not slightly better, than first pack. It still has some not as challenging stages, but they are entertaining in their own way.
Quite a number of stages required very specific setup and good excecution, even on hard.
So I'm pretty satisfied with DLC.
