It was great. We'd go to the southwest every summer and stop by different attractions and gas stations along the way. I'd sit in the car playing vidya for 7-8 hour drives and then spend the night in some weird roadside motel and do it all again the next day.

Barring ED, though, the simplest yet most effective "pass the time" kit for GBA is just Tetris and Game & Watch Gallery 4. Add your favorite adventure game if you want, but these two are all you need to pass any given amount of time.

GBA is probably my favorite handheld. It had so many good games on it and I'm always impressed with the weird technically advanced things that people did with it. DS might be objectively better, my favorite games are on it, but GBA is somehow really magical.

Hell yeah mate. I've loved metroidvanias ever since I emulated SOTN and Metroid Fusion in my mom's shitty pc when I was 14. Those 2 were my first castlevania and Metroid games, and I love them so much. I didn't include zero mission in my list because I frankly didn't like it as much as Fusion, although I still liked it.
