Because with modern day graphics and environment detail it’s pretty much unnecessary. You can clearly see what are you looking at and make your own deductions.

I mean I’m not against flavor text, it could potentially add to the game but it should at least provide us with the character’s thoughts instead of stating the obvious facts, otherwise it’s just redundant

Silent Hill 3 had some really outstanding flavor text in that regard. Probably the strongest of the whole series since it was less "descriptor" and more "character's insight"
