Say Steve does come to Smash Bros, lets theorize on how he'd be rep'd
>Moveset This one is super easy, everyone has made one, but I see a big lack of TNT based moves and crafting based moves, how would they work?
>Stage: Most people say to do something similar to mario maker and have the stage change to mines, overworld, nether, ect. I'd like to see maybe a superflat world with many creations that would make up the world, or a skybock thing with a small island and house in the sky above an overworld
>Music Minecraft Story Mode music would need to be added in to make a full music list that feels complete along with the normal Minecraft music
>Alts Alex is a given but what about the other 6? Will they put other Microsoft reps?
The problem is sakurai won't have Steve bend his limbs. He would be based on the original incantation of minecraft. Nothing from telltales or probably any other iteration of Minecraft like the new cave or whatever shit with the classes they were working on. His movements would be too stale for smash. His jump animation is literally just moving the avatar up and back down. There is no life in it. Not to mention every single action in the game is a single hand swing. That's not translatable to smash.
The reason duck hunt works is because he's just a dog. You can easily just make up shit since he does little to nothing in his game so everything can be made up for him. Same with falcon. He's just a dude you Dont actually play as so its easier to take liberties. Meanwhile Steve is a playable character, and not only that but he is a huge company owned character. To just make up movements like duck hunt and falcon would hurt him more than help. Sakurai would never take a character like him in his situation and butcher his move set with off model shit.
Ehhh I'd want remixes that take the classic slow songs and make something unique while maintaining their sentimental value
This minigame music does nothing for me
Samuel Williams
I want remixes of classic Minecraft songs too. I also want minigame music too since some of it is very good.
I wonder if Minecraft Story Mode has any good music.
Nicholas Campbell
I actually really liked some of the slower songs in the soundtrack. They captured the feel of minecraft really well.
Levi Lopez
Minecraft has amazing music especially the newer aquatic update tracks. They should remix like three of em
Nolan Young
On a somewyat related note, what heppened to 4craft this year? I unluckily missed last years and was lookijg forward to this years
Liam Gray
Good taste. Slower songs can be really nice. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a hypothetical Minecraft stage just has slower paced songs, kinda like the Pikmin stages.
Honestly, if we only get a Minecraft stage and no character, it'd still be pretty good.
>TNT based moves how about something like Villager's tree combined with the explosive box item? press once to place the block, and the move turns into a flint and steel attack that can light the TNT or be used as a normal attack. The block itself could be the obligatory "building mechanic" too, acting as a short wall/platform, but only one would be out at a time. It would also be able to be destroyed with enough normal damage, but also lit up by fire attacks. >crafting based moves Easy, just give him a limit charge for either armor or stronger versions of attacks that use tools.
Considering Pikmin songs are sorta similar, I think that would be a complete non-issue with MC in Smash. I just be more worried about Steve's design and animations.
Justin Martin
It lasted for 2 days. On day three it fell apart cause people been saying the server host kept helping certain factions
You have some fair points. Sakurai wouldn't add Steve if it meant taking him too far away from the source material. Even characters like Bowser who don't reference their games too much still move and react the way you would expect them to. It's so hard to imagine how Steve would work in smash. Of course the moveset has potential, but the characterization/animations are what is holding him back (with that said I do still think he could work, even if he does have his stiff movements). Maybe we could get someone besides Steve as playable? Could anyone else work?
Levi White
It's easy to imagine how Steve would look like in Smash. See
James Cruz
Be cool if he can do side special multiple times which lets him stack blocks on top of each other. Then has a "base"where he can do the enchanting
Dominic Sullivan
Yeah, I saw that post after I made my own. It's objective proof that he could work as far as I'm concerned.
Landon Long
>Moveset Basically something what is hybrid of villager and link just reskinned. Nothing special.
>Stage Well maybe nether ghasts as stage hazards and End world with enderdragon as stage hazard will be very interesting.
>Music Basically some remix what has almost 0 soul of original. Basically other tunes than original will dominate.
>Alta Well if it want to be proper DLC, it should have Minecraft like skin customisation, otherwise Banjo or Rash will make alot better DLC(because of their alot better source material)
it was in 1.9 iirc, added that and removed blocking with a sword, but since you can just hold it in your offhand you can still do the same thing anyway, alongside using it with other weapons, and blocking arrows i think
Isaiah Turner
"Steve in Smash?" More like "belongs in the trash."
I was thinking that the block placing mechanic would be a la Pacman hidrant and the crafting mechanic would use something that requires mild thinking like pikmin order
Matthew Sanders
Fucking jews. We need another codicraft
Joseph Robinson
Im gonna make a steve moveset in paint
David Roberts
Before the 'Creepy Steve' shitposters invade this thread I just wanted to say this has been the most interesting 'Steve in Smash' thread I've seen.
Nathaniel Barnes
Update: i did a long inhale and heavily sighed when i saw the paint screen. Just god damn it dude. Plus i got work in the morning. I wish i could freeze time to draw my unique moveset
Ok fine ill just type it Neutral b: like pac mans neutral B, but instead Steve flips through different blocks from the game. Dirt is first and weakest, sand can fall straight down, etc
Side b: creeper stands beside Steve and blows up, which hurts Steve the closer he is to it, and the explosion can push him away with fixed knockback. Useful to get out of situations where the opponent is constantly attacking you up close. Also used for recovery
Down b: eats food that can give him small, random powerups. Rng based. If he doesnt eat enough, he gets hungry and cant run fast
Up B: like zeldas, falls into the nether, then pops out of a different gate that appears in the direction pushed on the control stick.
would be cool if opponents would be sucked into the first nether portal and get popped out after getting damaged
Jacob Gray
why do people want this faggot to be in the game?
Eli Cruz
>Steve's limbs >bending REEEEEEEEEEE
Jace Allen
I've always been a big proponent of Steve being able to place blocks, mine them with attacks, and upgrade his attacks through a crafting special. It's sort of similar to Olimar's toolkit I suppose.
Julian Jones
got to disagree his movement is stiff and awkward and wouldn't work in Smash at least in my opinion
Owen Gray
Lmao that looks fucking retarded I gotta say. Like even if you are a stevenigger you can't think sakurai would do anything like that. Its way too much. Look how they did megaman. He is nearly IDENTICAL to how he is in his games. He's completely still when idle even and he works because he has bendable limbs. When Steve's arms stick out and wobble and basically act as if not connected to his body, THATS what sakurai will not do. Yeah they have animations on Minecraft for swimming but that's about the only time that animation should be used. They need to be represented perfectly or sakurai won't do it.
Kevin Edwards
but that stuff in that video looks great and wouldn't even be out of place in Smash
Christopher Cruz
He should have something to do with Minecraft
Christopher Cruz
>that walk cycle
It wouldn't even look like he's connected to the platform.
Caleb Sanchez
???
Blake Carter
It seems very stiff and I don't think he could work as a 3d character in smash if he was 2D he might work
James Russell
>It seems very stiff so it looks like Minecraft and it has a very unique silhouette
Kayden Martin
Neutral b should be a block place yeah, varies from dirt, stone, ores and rare wacky ones like chests with food in them that heal, or bricks that are tough to break. You can only place 3-4 blocks at a time (to prevent Steve from totally camping) You hit these with your jab, tilts, or smash attacks to gain resources. These help your attacks come out stronger via tool upgrades. Other enemies can easily break your blocks too.
Side B is enderpearl, your main form of recovery. Lightly damages opponents if you connect a hit with it. You can easily follow up with an attack too. You can SD with it though so be careful. Might have a cooldown time?
Up B is Steve making a pillar out of sand. Think about it. One of the first things you do in Minecraft is build a pillar of dirt to look at your surroundings better. In air the sand falls beneath you and damages opponents, you only go up 3 blocks but you can jump off of it. If placed on the stage enemies can easily break the sand-as it's the weakest block steve brings to Smash.
Down b is Crafting. Steve ideally would have a mini inventory screen near his percentage. For simplicity's sake let's just say any of the three materials Steve places (stone, iron, diamond) and two sticks upgrades all his tilts and smash attacks that use shovels, axes, or pickaxes.
>Alts Steve, Alex, male/female MC from story mode, Notch skin (if they're feeling edgy), Herobrine, remaining would be mario and link skins.
of course if we did get Steve we'd only get Alex, I doubt they'd put anymore effort into his alts.
Ian Allen
>I doubt they'd put anymore effort into his alts I really doubt it. It would be a perfect opportunity to put some of the official Minecraft player skins. I'm expecting shit like Master Chief, Cortana, etc if Steve does get in.
I feel like randomization to some degree would be a guarantee, especially since it's already been implemented with other stages like Tortimer Island and Super Mario Maker. It would be likely that mobs could spawn in, either as obstacles or just background characters. It would be super neat if the stage could actualy be destroyed block-by-block, but I feel that would be really hard to implement properly.
Landon Davis
>stevefags use a virtual 3d render >banjofags have a fucking 3d printed model of creepy Mumbo
Kayden Murphy
Can't disagree with you on that.
Hudson Ross
Not bad, though honestly it feels like it relies a bit too much on getting as many weapons as possible in.
Jose Taylor
How else can they defend 'he won't just be a villager/toon link clone!'
Logan Williams
pretty easily since that's a shitty argument
Caleb Perez
Please delete this infectious disease from my board, thank you. Can you all just stick to Reddit?
Having him pull out a bunch of tools for one or two moves would probably just make him feel more like Villager.
Ryder Perry
Damn! This is a pretty peaceful thread! No Stevecucks doing it for the memes! Actual fans of this character! It's super refreshing! Even though I don't think this particular character will make it (don't worry! This is my opinion only! There is still hope!), it's real nice to see people actually theorize a character like this. I hope I see more of you guys here!
Isaac Mitchell
Even though I'm a Banjofan, I hate this so much. Keep it away from our culture you fucker.
Jaxson Murphy
his down b should open up a small crafting window you do quick inputs in to create stuff
Jaxon Mitchell
That's what I always pictured it to be, something that creates weapons and items for Steve to use. The crafting table has to be an integral part of his moveset.
they should avoid having him spawn shit with every normal, he will end up with the same theme as villager, probably have him wielding his pickaxe and use that for every normal attack since swords make like one third of the roster In the case of his specials some anons said block place with side b and a crafting table with down b, that sounds cool, maybe a mine function with his neutral b to interact with the blocks he places I'm more in favor of my boy banjo getting in but hes welcome i guess
Luke Clark
It's Banjo, Ryu, Doomguy and Aorta. Give it up refusteve
Gabriel Butler
Ok this is probably a shitty idea but what if when you play Steve it automatically turns on an "item" called blocks which spawn in like other items and you have to go gather them for your crafting
Bentley Nelson
there's nothing wrong with a character spawning shit for attacks
Jonathan Davis
Kraggs up b would work well, a pillar of dirt
Joshua Green
how about hes kinda like shulk. b is his craft move which switches what tool is used for neutrals and smash attacks
Cooper Wilson
> Retards STILL think Steve is in Literally a shitty joke request, only kids gave a shit about him before the leaks came around
You are no better than those kids that want this like Freddy Fazbear or Angry Birds in Smash
Gathering items to craft more materials could work as well I guess, but it seems tedious and crippling to Steve's gameplay. I think a better idea is that Steve gathers more XP as he fights his opponents, and the higher the XP the better he can craft items.
Owen Reyes
Sounds like shit.
Julian Foster
Those look like garbage tho.
Liam Lee
theyve arrived
Jeremiah Butler
they really don't it's simple and fits Smash Bros really well
Austin Howard
Kill yourself Stevefag, your shitty blockhead will NEVER be in Smash
Jose Reed
I'm probably biased, and almost every character at least spawns things out of nowhere, one example of it being implemented in a good way it's on Game and Watch
Wyatt Reyes
honestly at this point i wouldn't mind steve or banjo that much at all, the only character that should never be in smash no matter how popular they get is geno, the thing appeared in a single spinoff game as not even a main character and most people who want him in smash probably haven't even played super mario RPG and we all know doomguy is the based choice, after all
Kevin Wood
Fuck off retard, even Geno is more essential and important than shit like Isaac or Ashley
Ian Lewis
i never said I wanted Isaac or Ashley it's not like I'd want them either, I just chose not to mention them because they were already kekked and trophied
Jonathan Gonzalez
Not really no, he's an unironic literal who. He's not a main character and he hasn't appeared in a game for over 20 years. At least Banjo is a main character, Geno is literal bottom of the barrel trash.
Xavier Young
I now have a challenge to issue you Steve fans. Make a thread just like this but in regards to Banjo-Kazooie. Barely any trolls and falseflaggers how up here, if the Banjo thread gets swamped and raided that just proves Yea Forums's bias. I'd love to have a comfy talk about Banjo-Kazooie in smash bros, but that is impossible now.
Hunter Mitchell
Zoomer faggot
Owen Wright
Glad to know you don't have any argument and you just stooped to regurgitating meme phrases because you know deep down I'm right about Geno.
No you're not retard, Geno has ton of support and STILL gets acknowledged to this day
Only thing stopping him is Square, otherwise you would have been BTFO right now and be crying like the little kid you are
Nathaniel Collins
Trolls and falseflaggers already appeared in this thread, but they're not that prominent because we didn't take their bait and we chose to ignore them. Take note about this for next time.
>and STILL gets acknowledged to this day wasn't he removed from the superstar saga remake?
Hunter Sanchez
I've tested this with 5 different threads. No mention of Smash Bros at all, just a photo of the duo and their name. Out of the 5, every single one had a shitty steveposter ruining it by trying to make into a Smash thread, but only 4 ignited into a flame war/smash thread, with only one of them being civilized as people just ignored the post. The one that did not dissolve into a smash thread was one of the best threads I had ever seen on here.
James Ross
I know you said Smash related, but I wanted to test in general to the character.
Hunter Roberts
you, I like you.
James Baker
Steve will never be in, Notch is hated by many and Nintendo wants nothing to do with him and his creations.
Nah. Do what you want to do, it's honestly your world and playstyle in the end.
Adam Miller
I guess you're right. The game just had so many changes while I'm gone that I'm surprised and confused.
Connor Garcia
Hey, games change all the time now, but the core gameplay will always be there. Talk to the people in the community portal and have a blast! There's millions of players all waiting to entertain themselves with others, all with different skins and cosmetics. You may find me as (ironically) the Banjo skin if you go online.
Joseph Nguyen
Thanks bro Talking to you motivated me to reinstall the game again.
Thomas Fisher
Anytime!
Isaac Cook
This advice should be given to all the brainlets who browse Yea Forums. This is an old school shitposting tactic yet it still works to this day. Just stop replying to bait and the threads will be good. It's not that fucking hard.
The biggest problem with Steve is that you'd pretty much have to give him some kind of block placing move, but this would be absolutely cancer in practice.
Jonathan Gonzalez
You speak as if it can't be balanced in the game.
Liam Stewart
totally get what you mean
Evan Young
The biggest problem with Joker is that you'd pretty much have to give him some kind of Persona summoning mechanic, but this would be absolutely cancer in practice.
Jace Anderson
More polygons on screen means less preformance and more memory eaten up.
Justin Hill
But doesn't that go for Joker's Persona too then?
Jayden Watson
>Joker summons Arsene >Just becomes stronger, not really a big deal >Steve places even a single block, let alone multiple at once >Changes the layout of the stage itself, becomes a nuisance to fight in casual play and would probably be completely banned in a competitive environment
Kayden Morgan
Nobody wants Steve. The only people that want steve are little baby children browsing Yea Forums. He sucks ass.
Kevin Robinson
>Changes the layout of the stage itself, becomes a nuisance to fight in casual play and would probably be completely banned in a competitive environment Bruh that's a nothing complaint. The blocks can be destructible or balanced in other ways. Also I love how you're speaking as if competitive players would ban it for a silly reason like this, you clearly have never seen what was truly broken yet allowed by the community.
Here's the thing, every single attempt I have seen to show that Steve would animate well in Smash or work in Smash as just shown more and more that he fucking wouldn't. Sure he's got moveset creativity and stage potential and maybe even music potential but animation wise, in terms of defining a character from them like how Captain Falcon was in 64 is looking to be impossible given how stiff and janky Minecraft is as it was never the focus of the game's design philosophy.
Nolan Collins
This was a comfy thread, good job to the stevebros who didn't fall for bait and kept the discussion going.
