Old Taric was my fav. Had a lot of great times, especially when I'd take him top against a team with 4 AD and a support, and I could 1v2 their top and jg easy after 1-2 items.
I also really liked his old lore - when he was a human from another reality where they mainly used magic through gemstones, and he decided to try to heal Runeterra from all the damage it had sustained from random people/beings using whatever kind of magic whenever willy nilly as opposed to his home plane where people used magic solely through gems and the earth and only when necessary.
I hate how they completely destroyed his personality, lore, and play style with the rework, especially making him yet another rando aspect of Targon and turning him from stoic yet nice to practically arrogant.

The idea that any one meta is "correct" and needs to be enforced is the death of competitive games. 1top/1jungle/1mid/2bot came about because people thought it was optimal. Then Riot decided it was the only way to play and nerfed into the ground any strategy that challenged it while banning anyone who attempted to challenge it.

I used to main old and new as well. Old WW was fun because his passive was always on and didn't only activate at low health. Soloing champs like Illaoi and Darius who thought they could take me because I wasn't fed was hilarious, especially since all I really needed was Devourer, Spirit Visage, and old Wit's End. When they'd try to run or flas away, i'd just ult them to seal the deal. New WW is still cool though.

Well in past I played LoL like crazy at times before season 1 , all season 1 and 3/4 of season 2. Literally day without at least 4 LoL matches was a wasted day. And when I had opportunity I literally played even 10 matches or more in one day. It was fun at solo and it was even better if we made Lan parties and together with my friends played LoL. It was fucking awesome and fun. Game really was balanced(because riot cared about real disbalance problems not some kiddo whining or "Muh ESPORT") and was some good mix of power fantasy, heroic fantasy and dark fantasy + some spice of kawai when it was about champion design. It had soul.

But riven patch was a herald of shit what was about to happen. Mordekaiser was nerfed to ground for no reason by taking away from him the only way he could defend himself on lane (what of course could be bypassed by simply attacking him when he has no minions to charge shield from).

And that means one thing, RIOT DECIDED TO LISTEN CHILDREN WHINNING AND REMOVE MECHANICS THAT REQUIRE EVEN SMALL TACTICAL/LOGICAL THINKING TO OVERCOME.

And the shitfest started. And then riot decided to make game "Muh fast action as flashy and shit" because "Hurt Muh it looks nice on "MUH ESPORTS" what means that shitfest even intensifies.

All tactical stuff became nerfed, turrets got nerfed, tanks got nerfed. WELCOME TO LEAGUE OF ONESHOTS. Teamfights from epic manfights turned into 2 teams camping waiting for someone make mistake just to burn all cooldowns and in 0,001 seconds is over, and dare to not wink or you will miss a teamfight.

Also design, every new champion is either edgelord, some gacha fag, or waifu. Maybe Kled was last exception from that rule and is actually a good design, but sadly he has really weak influence in game. And all champions who were not fitting the new LoL image got nerfed into ground or reworked from fun to total unfun.

Now you just hit the q button to shotgun, the W button for a fucking useless long-range poke that can be easily dodged and does very little damage, and a root boomerang that can pull the enemy into your shotgun, the only way you're gonna hit with it. Fucking disgusting.

I played HoN from 2009 to 2015-ish. It was a wild ride. Having played both DotA 2 and LoL as well, I still think HoN is (or was) the best of the 3. It had the best balance between fun and skill, and some of the earlier original heroes are among the best in the genre. Nothing in this genre comes close to Bombardier, Gauntlet, Pandamonium, and especially Chipper, which was so good that Riot just straight up stole Chipper and remixed him into a LoL champion. Clockwerk/Pharaoh not withstanding, because it remains the most fun you can have in the genre, and the only thing LoL has that came close is Jarvin.

So when the final strike comes, they rewind and change the history a bit so that the setting is different. The characters of course not knowing about this rewinding ability think they could end it.

They shouldnt delete their entire kit for a new one but just update it. Make some simple changes to allow more counterplay while still maintaining the essence of the champion. They did it with champions like xin zhao. He didnt get deleted but his ult and his W (I think) got changed making him more fun and interactive to play.

because the sequel wasn't good enough for players to move on to competitively. most games have a competitive scene in some form, which dies once a new game comes out or people fully plumb its mechanical depths and the game becomes rigid and stale. For movement champions to exist clunky slow champions like old Taric or sion need to exist. Flash is an exception as summoner spells used to have strategy to them (as in do I take flash for mobility or do I take a spell that gas more synergy with my champion?)

Taric legit was incredibly fun to play, you didn't always win but if knew how to play him you would win a lot of the time, as people didn't understand him and he also was just great.

They gave tanks too much damage and nerfed their defensive items because those were getting snatched by other classes. The problem would solve itself if tank-specific items all got a passive that's a % reduction to damage taken from and done to champions. That way, tanks don't feel like they're made out of tissue paper while being able to duel a fed carry. Also prevents classes that rely on doing damage from abusing tank items.

Aatrox- old Aatrox was pretty much hated by everyo e and only sort of played when runes were reworked. Still a faggy edgelord but better than before.

Ashe- literally the sam with an updated look and lines. Great rework.

Akali - still fucjs you in the ass, still has her smoke screen. Look better. Lore wise is kind of fucked. Decent rework.

Annie - literally the same. Just updated aesthetically. Great rework.

Evelynn - originally the worst champ in the game played to be a mobile vision ward and useless for all else. Rework is fine and she is fun to play as.

Ezreal - same shit as before. One skill was changed that nobody but a mid Ezreal used and then nobody played him mid. He is still a massive dork.

Fiora - her old ulti was cooler and that is it. An improvement in all other senses.

Galio - absolute shit. Worst remake of them all. Has nothing to do with the old champion. This one is true. It is that bad.

Gangplank - while old Gp was fun, the remake made him better in every way and made him a bloodthirsty old pirate which he was supposed to e.

Garen - again, same as before. Great rework.

Heimer - lore wise they fucked him in his yordle ass. Everything else was improved.

Irelia - better than the original. Zooming from target to target from old irelia was kept while making her other abilities interactive. Good rework.

Karma - same shit only people a tually play her now.

Karthus - mediocre because his oldlore was creepy as fuck and the new one is generic. Mechanically he is the same.

Kayle and Morgana - Kayle sucked so she cant e worse then she was and Morgana is the same only smaller titties which is unfortunate.

Leblanc - sort of okay. Could have done better but old Leblanc was shit as well.

Lux - same as before with .ore voice lines. Good enough.

Maokai - nobody plays him. Old or new. Sucks to be him. I like his new lore more though.

Master Yi - same as before. Only no pizza feet so easier to look at.

Nasus - good rework with a good lore change.

Nunu - eh. Could have been better but Nunu as a concept was always shit.

Poppy - those three people that played old poppy were angry. Others saw it as a great rework.

Ryze - which rework? I dont know man. I like rambling old wizard Ryze.

Sion - sure, Arnold was funny but the gist of it was that nobody gave a fuck about Sion. Now they actually play him and he is good. It is a great rework.

Sivir - literally the same only better. Good rework.

Soraka - eh. Boring then boring now. So I guess she is fine?

Swain - demon hand is a retarded concept and his kit feels weird. Aesthetically, personally I like Tywin Lannister making an appearance.

Taric - old Taric story was dumb as shit. Space knight that for some reason came to fight. He is miles better even if the fag jokes are too much on the nose.

Tristana - great rework. Everything is better and people masturbate more to her now. So.... good

Trundle - not that good. Nobody played old Trundle but this was far too far from the original concept.

Twisted Fate - same as before only better.

Twitch - great rework that makes Twitch both funny and fun to play.

Urgot - shotgun knees was an okay rework. Totally not Bane but obce more, nobody played old Urgot so it is an improvement.

Warwick - probably the best rework. It is clean, removed tge stupid and enhanced the good.

Yorickb- old yorick was boring as shit. New Yorick less so. His lore is eh but again all in all a good rework.

These are just champs that got a full rework. While there are hits and misses, generally the change was good. Now mechanocs wise is where they dun goofed. Especially the last two seasons that are just bad. Fuck the runes reforged.

I miss walking up and Dazzling someone followed by the 2 big damage aoes Shatter to shred armor + Radiance AP/AD stat boost and then procing a iceborne gauntlet auto attack.
