I'm so glad that this one made its way back into smash with Ultimate. It's an absolute 10/10 for me.
youtube.com
Morrowind destroys me everytime
Dwarf Fortress guitar bgm makes time go by very quickly
Oblivion is top comfy
Makar's song at this part of Wind Waker sometimes makes me cry
youtube.com
I know that a lot of people didn't like Fi, but you'd have to be soulless to not enjoy this piece. youtube.com
people usually refer to emotional songs as slow, but Tor's theme kept telling me im at the end of it all
youtube.com
shit hits harder when you're on the hardest difficulty, too
Makar was a great character. I love how Zelda will often incorporate music into a characters personality as well as the gameplay. BotW scrapped all of that which was a little disappointing.
I've played Chrono Trigger, but haven't managed to try Chrono Cross yet. I'd love to get my hands on that game. The voice that starts around 00:50 is lovely.
I'm keeping this one in my fighting mix for sure. Perfect for an intense high action gaming.

The soundtrack in Undertale is perfect and is probably why I like the game so much. It really helps carry the characters as well.
this is one of the most boring shitty songs I've ever heard
this shit "connected with you on an emotional level?", are you retarded or something
Fuckin sob.... why are we here?
youtu.be
How did BOTW scrap this?
By having far less emotionally charged and unique music.
Interesting that this is what stands out to you from that game, user. May I ask what about it stands out to you? It's very relaxing.
Thanks, user. I might give this whole album a listen later. I'd like to share an album as well - youtube.com
Highlights for me include Feather, Thank you, and Horizon.
Haven't played a Chibi Robo game before. Does something happen to him? It really gives off a strange sad feeling. I keep expecting a beat to kick in for some reason, especially around the 1:50 mark.
Undertale really tugged at my heartstrings. The OST is a huge highlight.
My thoughts exactly.
I've always wanted to get into MetalGear. I've heard great things about it. Every time I hear some music from it I feel like I'm missing out big time.
No characters (that come to mind atm) seem to play any instruments. On top of that It's the first 3d Zelda to keep Link from playing one himself. Even TP had him howling certain music.
Good song. I haven't gotten around to playing Persona 3, but it's on my list of games I'd like to play. This sounds like a post game credits theme, am I right?
thanks for recognizing the song
if you've got the time, iji's a great game that only takes a few hours to beat
it's also free
I like it because I remember first hearing that song during one of those rare cozy night time playthroughs of a game. There's a slight ominous tone to the music too, and it makes you think of the vast barrenness of space, yet it's still a warm track. Every note echoes into infinity. Something about the atmosphere of the level just clicked with me. I didn't want to leave. I wish games gave me this feeling more often.
>Free
I think I will. Thanks for sharing.
Anyone have any good music where the enemies partake in the music? Song related youtube.com
At 2:05 the boss starts laughing. I love this sort of approach so much. It really gives off a *bigger than you* sort of vibe.
Not my favorite game but
youtube.com
And if you count VNs
youtu.be
For Chibi-Robo
the song's actually for his precursor Giga-Robo, partially dismantled and left in the basement after the cost of running him nearly crippled the family. All I can say without too much spoilers, play it some time it's underrated
youtube.com
This track perfectly punctuates the moments it plays in. The call of the unknown, forgotten relics, new encounters, the weight of the past. The very essence of adventure.
youtube.com
Still one of my favorite games to date

That's beautiful, user. The area a track plays in can also influence the music. Where you are in that point in time can also have a powerful effect. Thanks for sharing that, user. It reminds me of some of my favorite gaming memories from when I was younger and some from today. I like how simply playing a game can bring to mind memories that enhance the music in a way that someone who has never played said game might not understand. It truly is a wonderful thing.
Damn, user. That first composition is sick. Reminds me of a city in the summer during sunset. I think it's because it reminds me of Station Square for some reason.
The other song is some prime sad music. I really like it. I might could see listening to this on a rainy winter day.
Sounds good. I might go for it at some point.
Fantastic choice. Absolutely saved (along with most of these other comps). It kind of reminds me of Spelunky.
It's an interesting choice. mind sharing what you like about it? I'm a little ashamed to say that I've never played Cave Story. I'm a big fan of 2D platforming, but I've just never made the plunge.
youtube.com
i know nu-Yea Forums hates geno but this song still tugs my heartstrings
>mind sharing what you like about it?
The weapon ex system is great and I haven't found a similar mechanic in another game. Every weapon is completely different and has a use best suited for it. There's tons of secret items and endings, that playing it blind means your subsequent play throughs end up being way different. Great music, great art and atmosphere, and the fact it was made by one guy out of the love for the genre is incredibly inspiring. Try it out user, its on pretty much everything.
>Reminds me of a city in the summer during sunset
thats funny because its a remix of a level that its almost literally that
youtube.com
This game is totally cheesy and cliched, but the game believes in itself so damn much that it doesn't matter if you don't; it's charming as fuck.
youtube.com
I get choked up during the sad part of the main theme with a sense of nostalgia, even though I only played this game for the first time last year. It just reminds me of so hard of everything I loved about video games as a kid, and this theme is fucking epic anyway. I love how it's got an overture with a full orchestra, but also like a groovy 70s disco baseline and a bitchin' little guitar solo right out of a '90s cop drama. It just screams every epic anime theme from the '80s combined.

This game seems to have a melancholic feel to me that New Leaf lacks. New Leaf is still good though.
Nobody posted this yet? Ok then, come get your feels youtube.com
Me too, user. Someone close to me recently passed the day after I beat this game with them. It will always remind me of them.
I meant the song in particular, but I appreciate the breakdown. I've always wanted to get into Cave Story, but as I said - I just never took the plunge. You're post does make it sound more tempting than ever though.
This game seems silly. I like that. You know, it's kind of funny. At first I was thinking about Chulip and that kid with the hat reminds me of the main character.
I like it too. Sounds like a grand adventure mixed with the opening of a live-action sitcom where the character's names are displayed while they're introduced. Then around 1:50 it transitions to something more laid back and then to something more emotional. You have some really good taste, user.
Reminded me of a chapel and then the organ kicked confirming that thought. The organ is such an underrated instrument. That along with the choir is great. I wish both were used in games more often. I'm glad I waited until the 3:00 minute mark.
bump
Is this from a visual novel? It just kind of looks like one.
Absolutely LEGENDARY choice, user. Wild World was my first AC and I have a ton of memories associated with it. I kind of miss those times. Thank you for the nostalgia trip.
Twilight Princess may be my least favorite 3d Zelda, but the OST was fantastic. I wish this version had made its way into smash. Here are some tunes that stood out to me.

I know Nier might be cheating, bit this piece is just so beautiful I can't help but tear up. Makes me feel like a failure and I think of how I fucked up my life.
This game was really important to me for a number of reasons, and remains one of the single most memorable gaming experiences of my life. I just got a PC that could burn music CDs when this game came out, so I was listening to this music constantly. It really brings me back to a very specific time and a very specific feeling.
youtube.com
Also, in terms of the game, it's just great. I love how the credits give you closure on basically every character's story. Such a refreshing game, a welcome change of pace to what most JRPGs were like around 2000.
Posting some good tracks that I like.
youtube.com
Speaking of adventure, nothing gets me pumped quite like this composition from Brave Fencer Musashi. This game is easily one of my favorites. I'd do a lot just to get my hands on another copy. youtube.com
Nothing stands out to me quite like the save room music you hear in res 1 (remake) and 4. They really help relieve tension. youtube.com
>I meant the song itself
I don't know, its got this feeling of melancholy loneliness that perfect matches the point in the game where its played. You've just gone through hell, seen a lot of people time and finally get a breather in what seems like hours. Its the perfect song to reflect to.
Also I'm a chiptune fanboy and cave story delivers
youtube.com
Wild World was my first AC as well, and it's still my favorite even though I have no nostalgia for it. That might change once I start playing the first game though. Let's hope that they give Sable more dialogue in the next game.
oops wrong image
this one is better

Nah, I'm more of a drifter. I come back every few months or so and stick around for a bit. Currently I'm just sick of the constant reposting of the same threads every 10 minutes. All anyone ever does here is fish for (yous) and cry over trivial nonsense and today might just be the worst it's been in a while. I just want some actual discussion. We're all human beings here and we all have enough passion to enjoy what we love. (Not to mention it makes people want to post more when they know they're being payed attention to) I know some people are so cynical that they can't enjoy anything, but I got through that phase and so can they.
By the way that some god-tier music choice. It's sad, but also happy. Pretty mysterious too. This game has been high on my list for a while now. I recently got myself a PS4 and have been itching to play.
Cave Story is based. One of the few games I've played as an adult that had enough SOUL to make me remember it as though I were a kid. My friend and I were both off work, hanging out the day it came out on the Wii eShop, and neither one of us knew what it was so we downloaded it and took turns playing for hours. Tons of great music that is still stuck in my head today, and lots of great, melanocholic, atmospheric tracks, especially near the end.
this song is easily the best out of all the nier shit, absolutely beautiful.
play the PS3 Nier first, you'll be happy you did.
I'm super biased, but I genuinely believe it should be considered in GOAT conversations
Good choice, user. I've heard great things about Skies of Arcadia.
I had no idea the music in NieR was so good. You guys are starting to make me want to blaze through my Res 2 playthrough just so I can get to it. Hot damn! The 1 minute mark is fantastic on that first one! You have some really good taste. I appreciate that you would share these, they're all good.
>I don't know, its got this feeling of melancholy loneliness that perfect matches the point in the game where its played.
This is what I was talking about earlier in the thread. Video game compostitions can often stand on their own, but to people who have played those games they can often have a deeper connection. It's like a portal to another time in another world. I have a lot of appreciation for this outlook. The song you posted was excellent as well.
The first game is great as well. I bought it about a year or two after I had bought Wild World. If you're emulating I would suggest downloading Japanese version and getting the English patch. I hear that's the best way to enjoy it. And thanks for the smiling Sable, I needed that for my AC folder.
Another good tune, thanks, user. This game sounds beautiful. I'm genuinely starting to think that it's my next game. So much for revisiting some older games after RES 2.
? I guess I'll check it out. Is it available for PC? I could probably get it off steam if it's a PS3 game.
BTW I know FFXIII is hated, but I loved the OST.

Fire Emblem Fates OST is one of the only redeeming factors it has, and it's full of great songs, but I can't help but gravitate to this one track in particular. It's used in enemy ninja maps, and most notably it's used when the ninja nation feigns ignorance to trap you in a chapter that's referred to as the ninja rape cave, because the level will fuck you over and over. The song feels like it's someone trying their best, but it causes them pain to go through with it. They're succeeding, but not without great loss. The constant strings throughout, and the 1:36 communicate this most effectively with the primary koto string sounding beautifully.
>op responds to everyone except you
>op responds to everyone except you
Sorry if you're or I totally missed those posts. The Fates song you posted sounds great. It really does give the impression of hardships and opposition overcome by force of will. I've only played awakening and thought the ost was one of the better parts of that game as well.
good song choice op
ive been replaying some pokemon mystery dungeon and the quiz themes are great and i feel like they nail the themes of these games really well and they are really nostalgic

last one is a remix but feels very close to the real thing
It really is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this one.
The title really says it all for the first one. It has a very isolated feel to it. It's impressive how they managed to get such good music on the DS. Usually even the best of what that system has to offer is at a less than desirable quality, but these manage to be soft on the ears. Thanks for sharing, user. I had no idea that Ace Attorney games had such good music.
The first take is so empty. It reminds me of a dark cave. The second verison was a more *full* take on the first. I really like it. It reminds me of a snowy forest area- or maybe a snowy cave? When it comes to the third take the music that kicks in around the 0:25 mark really separates it from the others. I love it. It reminds me more of a lake, but hasn't totally ditched that snowy aesthetic.
I'm taking a break. Continue to post, but don't expect me to reply for a bit. Thanks to everyone who shared. This was the fist good thread I've seen on Yea Forums for what seems like months.

>Long awaited sequel
>Takes place so far after the first game that almost everyone from that game has long since died of old age and the ones that haven't have had their memories wiped.
>One of them still has his memories but they're degrading, and in order to help them retain their memories they make their base in the last remains of the home of the love interest from the first game, who treated them like a little brother.
>They also surround her home in her favorite flowers both in tribute and as another tool to help them remember
>On top of that they can't really tell anyone the whole truth of what happened in the first game since it would utterly crush the hopes of people in this one.
>When he finally lets enter this sanctum to tell you his story the best song from the first game plays.
youtube.com
I haven't had feels hit me so hard in a long time.
Oh, if you've never played them, most of these themes are also remixes of characters from the games, but far more sad and melancholic.
Most of these songs are played when they talk about tragic things, such as the loss of a loved one, traumatizing experience or intense self-doubt.
I don't "connect" with music on an "emotional level," what kind of stupid manbaby do you think I-

It's not much, but this song always makes me feel wistful. youtube.com
Like everything is for nothing.
1. Mother Earth(Mother)
youtu.be
I don't have much to say here but this one has a huge effect on me for being the first track of the series, hearing it near the end of Mother 3 was what actually ended up making me cry too
2. Plantation/Main Theme(Cave Story)
youtu.be
Cave Story is my absolute favorite game of all time, and an inspiration for me, so the main theme holds a lot of personal value to me, as do a lot of other tracks in the game.
3. Snowdin Town(Undertale)
youtu.be
Undertale connected with me a lot, and this track in particular feels incredibly personal to me, New Home/Undertale also stands out, I remember holding back tears when I had reached that point with all the monsters talking about the past.
4. Kings and Queens of the Wasteland(Nuclear Throne)
youtu.be
I played Nuclear Throne a lot. Song also reminds me a lot of She Wanted to Leave by Ween, so that's a bonus.
fuck rami ismali though
5. Prelude and Main Theme(Final Fantasy)
youtu.be
youtu.be
I played a lot of FF when I was younger, though I fell out of it I still feel a connection to the series
6. Jingle Jangle Jingle(Fallout New Vegas)
youtu.be
Is this cheating? Maybe, but I included 2 Final Fantasy songs for 5 so who cares. I just really love New Vegas and JJJ became what I associated with the game.
Could probably do more but I don't feel like it.
Asgore’s fight theme still gets me choked up to this day

Amendment to this post, most of the Mother series does that to me actually, its just Mother Earth that comes off especially notable to me.
