Nah, there is good shit in the fantasy genre. But I always stay werry if a series involves one super awesome super cool titular character. That gets boring fast. Especially 3+ Books of one fucking guy/girl doing awesome shit.

Break away from the YA stuff user, trust me; there is way more interesting fantasy books and settings out there.

Noticed that about women authors who right that kind of fiction a lot .They blow their load super early, like in the first chapter, making their heroine directly related to some super powerful character. They are always preternaturally skilled. Even when they are not Mary Sues they are skating right up to the line.

It sucks when male authors do the same with fantasy/urban fantasy/cyberpunk/sci-fi, but at least I can find male authors from the last 10 years who actually have their characters go through an arc.

The reading level for one. YA makes me feel dumb when I read it. Comparing Mistborn to Dune is like night and day, Mistborn feels like 6th grade.

I would say this is shitty formatting, but some of the best fantasy series have done this so I can’t really complain

YA shit is written for 12-16 year old girls and the reading level and quality of prose is generally quite bad which is why every YA book series that gets turned into a movie or TV show ends up being cringey garbage with bad dialogue and minimal plot that focuses primarily on love triangles. Women are universally obsessed with love triangles and get off on the power fantasy of two hot guys vying for her attention. I guarantee the trash in the OP is about that too.
