Long unskippable cutscenes
-Linear adventure but the context of the adventure makes it less offensive than the linearity of say FFXIII.
The only good linear game ever made. Its actually an amazing game because there is true character development and they somehow manage to make you care about saving the world. You will hate tidus in the beginning because hes your average yuppie all-star faggot, but he develops into a pretty cool duder. Also, Rikku has a nice clean shaven and spotless butthole.
There's no possible way you could know that about my wife
Have fun dodging lighting and a overly complicated leveling up system.
A really shitty mc, lame plot, but ok gameplay
Remember
Betterdead than al bhed
I'm amazed that they let Raimi work on FFX's script.
Depression, sadness and feels
Ha ha ha haaaaa
HAHA HA HAHAH HAHA HAHA HAHA AHAHA HAHAHAH HAHAHA HAHAHA
I like Tidus. His optimism is a nice contrast to how everything else is about death. He's just mad at his dad for dying.
ugly character designs
ugly enemy designs
belts and zippers everywhere
and just over all an unaesthetic ass ugly game
also meg ryan seriously did not need to be the protag of a FF game, what were they thinking?
Despite how it looks, the "grid" is actually a practically straight line.
Dodging lighting is entirely optional and frankly pointless because Yuna is a better black mage than Lulu anyway.
No, it's just as bad.
Rikku is a fucking degenerate slut like all Al Bhed women.
50 hour tutorial
good music
good atmosphere
fun characters
>and a overly complicated leveling up system
You are fucking retarded.
Fuck off, Wakka. Your pure virginal high summoner is half Al Bhed herself.
No, it's really not. XIII had no reason to be as linear as it was, and yet they forced you to go down hallway after hallway. At least X tries to fit it into the narrative in that you're heading somewhere specific.
This, it only gets complicated when you start mixing grids together which does even matter in the end unless you're doing Dark Aeons/Monster Arena. And even then it's a fucking straight line.
>The only good linear game ever made
I think you mean to say linear JRPG?
This thread again, deja vu!
>following the intended path
>not using expertmode
A great game that is too linear.
great game with great battle system and music
All FF titles are linear. The world map only gives you an illusion that it's open world. Everything is from point A to B until 3/4 through the game which you will get an airship to yet again get you from A to B.
Sin is your father (Jecht)
No, they're structured almost exactly the same and just as badly mis-and over-written.
A very soulful game with a 10/10 battle system. One of the best JRPGs.
Great game. Do NOT start leveling up until AFTER you receive your first Lvl 1 Key Sphere (it's unmissable). Also farm the little critters that attack you when you're party is riding the ship (leave atleast one critter alive to farm them)
every game that has only one ending is linear too. so are games that progress through the same story arcs too.
the only game that wouldn't be linear would be one that multiple, diverging, completely unrelated arcs you can go from start to finish in.
I don't know why people say X-2 battle system is great, it's the worst ATB system out there. Every ability gets queued to shit and you're just gonna spam Darkness and Black Sky for everything. The writing is awful and the fanservice is mediocre when everyone just wants Rikku and Leblanc. Anyone who disagrees is wrong and gay. No exceptions.
this is my favorite FF. I love the music and the story. a very special ending... Enjoy it ;)
5, 7, and 10 are the only worthwhile FF titles.
BASED
unfortunately this.
i'm part-way through my first playthrough and i'll likely never play FFX again because of this.
I'm 12 hours in and about 10 hours of it has just been unskippable cutscenes, tutorials and more unskippable cutscenes
Seymour Guado is NOT my maester
Wishing you were playing as Jecht.
You forgot type 0 and tactics.
Never disappoints
While you play it, remember this is one of the best reviewed entries. Feel the anger.
It's actually decent even by modern standards, and Rikku is best girl (though it feels weird saying so now that I'm older than her)
There'll be a point midgame where you can easily grind your dudes to endgame levels - don't do that, since it'll suck the fun out of it
>Fun battle system, probably the best in the series
>Enjoyable world
>Blitzball is a cool concept but a total waste of time
>Cringe voice acting
>Everyone looks ultra chink in the cutscenes
An 100 hour incoherent daddy issues story.
disappointment
I’m finding it really enjoyable so far, although the one and only thing I don’t really care is all the Blitzball stuff. It’s just not interesting to me, but I guess it’s still too early to be saying that.
Oh I’ve been stuffing spheres all over the place the moment I got them. How badly did I mess up?
just play the fucking game you retarded redditor
The worst mini game of all time, blitzball
chink shit
Have fun trying to get the Ultimate Weapons.
>0.0.0 Chocobo Race
Yeah fuck that, and fuck birds.
I mean technically not that bad. The game will just be a bit more challenging. This method would have given you access to skills/magic earlier and save you some time having to grind against a certain asshole boss much later on
I found that one actually easy (though I might've just had a lucky run). All of the ultimate weapons can be obtained relatively quickly -except- for the one that requires you to play Blitzball for 3hrs. Fuck that.
GOTTA TELL WAKKA
Ive been stuck on that fucking race for 3 days now. Fuck chocobos.
That shit is easy.
Fuck those bolts, thougj
>-except- for the one that requires you to play Blitzball for 3hrs
Not the one that needs you to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row.
A HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Bolts was easy for me. The fucking RNG on the bird spawns and balloon placement is the fucking worst.
Activating all the nodes is not a bad thing as long as you stay within the line until the end of the game. Also Blitzball is fun when you don't have any of the Aurochs on your team. You also need to do this if you are to unlock Wakka's ultimate weapon and get his best overdrive skill.
>being this bad at Blitzball
I dunno how you can't get behind the spiran tribal aesthetic and architecture. It's probably the most interesting and unique style in FF.
>(though I might've just had a lucky run)
You did. It takes between five hours to a week just to get a chance at winning it.
BLITZBALL
Did anyone here fight all the Dark Aeons and Penance? Is it worth it?
Exactly. Those birds have a huge hit box, the fucking balloons spawn right at the bird spawn points in the middle of the map and you need 12+ balloons to win.
>Final Fantasy X-3
Not really. The whole process of having to kill every single monster 10x each for the monster arena to grind for spheres is extremely tedious. The Dark Aeons themselves aren't exactly fun to fight either.
Play it on Steam and use Cheat Engine for all the bullshit like dodging lightning, Blitzball, and Chocobo Race.
All of this:
9 is my favorite
Reminder that zanmato works on EVERYTHING
I can do Chocobos and Blitzball. What I can't do is dodge lightning bolts however many times.
Too bad it doesnt work on dodging 200 lightning bolts.
>Blitzball is a cool concept but a total waste of time
>waste of time
Brainlet detected. Blitzball, much like the chao garden in sonic adventure 2 could be a game on its own, once you learn how to play it and grind some games with the overpowered Brother you start getting good and actually have a lot of fun managing and playing with your dream team. Its a shame what they did to it in X-2
A game in which if it was done a little differently would probably be one of my favorite games of all time, but instead it’s annoying
Well yeah but traveling across a world map and having random encounters is fun, not to mention that you can be rewarded with disocvering little secrets and such for exploring. As compared to the really linear parts of FF13 which don't allow you to travel anywhere apart from narrow corridors, have all scripted encounters, and have literally nothing to explore in the first place. I think FF13 is over-hated, but there is an appeal in a game being even slightly less linear than it.
see
>he plays FF Games and doesnt get every ultimate weapon
Worthless
I did it enough times that I know I don't want to subject myself to the cancer of dodging 200 lightning bolts in a row for a substandard caster. Doing Chocobo racing is cancer enough. I also don't bother with butterfly catching anymore either, because Kimahri is even more useless than Lulu.
I usually play through the game once beforehand if I like the game I play it again and make the attempt to get all of them.
>All FF titles are linear. The world map only gives you an illusion that it's open world
this is getting to be bullshit semantics
It's not like the only options are "open world" and "linear hallway" for christ's sake.
Early FF games were linear, but more in a linear progression that gradually opened up a whole world. You'd have a leg or two of linear progression then get a vehicle that would let you go back to where you'd come, and the story would bring you all over the world. In FFIV you should have the airship after about 4-5 hours (of a 20 hour game). All of the SNES games are designed like this, with FF6 having fully half the game as a purely non-linear adventure. The PSX games do get more linear, the worst is probably FFIX. But still there's an organic "slowly opening up the world" pattern as you gain access to vehicles.
The fact that the "linear tour" tends to end with a complete and fully-accessible open world is not an "illusion" and it's different from a literal hallway design.
They say 6,000,000 Al Bhed died, ya? Well bruddah dat numba just don't add up to me.
>people are actually complaining about counting to 200
but this is not true. ff13 is a warcrime among jrpgs, ffx is fine, it's worst attributes are the awkward english voiceover due to the japanese voiceover timing restrictions and the resulting plot being somewhat obscured by the hackneyed dialogue. it's still got the best combat of any ff and the ending has genuine emotional impact and effectively conveys the overall theme of the game.
>it's still got the best combat of any ff
7, tictacs, and modded 15 say hi.
>modded 15
what
If cutscenes are a problem for you then maybe Final Fantasy is not the game for you.
A good game that doesn't live up to its potential but is still pretty solid. Shitty voice acting, Japanese ain't much better. Music is God-tier and some of the worldbuilding is great.
Unironically a movie game
6, 9 and Tactics are the best ones.
I agree 100%
>long unskippable cutscenes even though I'm replaying the game.
>long unskippable cutscene that plays before a boss fight that you keep losing to
the worst ff game
>replaying the game
>a boss fight that you keep losing to
what?
You're right. I wish I knew this 20 years ago.
don't forget to install this mod
mega.nz
4 and 5. 6 isn't bad but it's an overrated mess.
I don't really count Tactics. Though I think it's one of the greatest games ever they don't really compare to mainline Final Fantasy very well.
9 is OK if you like a game that's really slow and story-heavy that doesn't really let you start to play until you're 10-15 hours in.
A good time, not even memeing.
One of the best/unique FF settings.
Most cutscenes in the SNES-era (and earlier) Final Fantasy games aren't that long, and once they're done you're usually right back to playing. It wasn't until the Playstation era when you started having the whole game full of long elaborate cutscenes.
I did them all besides Lulu's. The lightning man... fuck that. Especially when you're a 13 year old kid, the last thing you want to do is dodge 200 lightning strikes lol.
>Especially when you're a 13 year old kid
user, that's the best time to do stupid shit like this. I used to do pointless grinding when I didn't need to or other random shit in video games other than progressing the story, for hours.
>mfw that long ass cutscene that plays literally everytime you retry the Seymour fight
Fuck this game
