Is there a game with better music than Nier?

Nier and Katamari are the only games I've actively gone to buy the soundtrack for. I'd say as a soundtrack Nier has better integration, which is the entire point of being a soundtrack rather than standalone music, and presenting it here misses half of the point of it completely like that. Mother 3 probably has better integration with more progression and actual themes used throughout, there's a healthy dose of leitmotif. It's the only game I can think off the top of my head that probably beats Nier in OST personally. Otherwise I'd say Drakengard is an interesting contender with some amazing direction for what's meant to be truly awful music.

DaS, DeS, and Sekiro all have great soundtracks.

DeS was great, lots of dissonance and unexpected turns in the pieces. I'd say the soundtracks since have been serviceable, everything they need to be, but nothing really special.

I finished Nier Automata today and I didn’t like it as much as Nier. It was just lacking something, the characters were really hard to care about and it just felt like they tacked Nier’s twist onto it as a continuation of that plot when they really shouldn’t have

Nier had better characters and music but I didn't really care all that much about the story honestly, automata was way better when it comes to story and atmosphere
