Also everyone telling them that the character is a shit common enemy in a hat propped up as a unique character for filler reasons only caused these kids to double down on "supporting" him. They also have a Chris-Chan like mentality where they think they need to preserve the character's relevancy and defend his honor from "deetractors"

He was just kind of consistently there and that was enough at the time. A lot of Kirby fans preferred the other side characters of the past like Adeleine and Daroach and now that they returned, a lot of support is going to other Kirby characters like them, not even just for SA but also for their legacy and potential. But as of now Waddle Dees are still the "fourth character" in general and we're waiting to see what the next Kirby game does with the cast to see if we can go all-in for another character or not.

The only reason BWD has support is due to consistency, if Adeleine had the same level of consistency she would fucking DESTROY him in terms of Smash support. He's always appeared because HAL had this fucking refusal to use anyone else in the main kirby team for years.

Even in spin-offs where they could have experimented more with the cast they just used Bandana Dee and I think that lack of creativity and variety hurt those spin-offs.

I've always disliked Sora. I think other than "darkness" "heart" and "friends" being repeated more times than necessary, he was one of the reasons I couldn't really get into KH. You can blame HAL (and Sakurai) for refusing to do anything with the Shimomura cast for nearly 20 years. We could've had other viable candidates, but they instead faded into obscurity. Dee is the only character that shows up in games consistently.

This isn't a fair comparison, it's just trying to prop up Dee by probably only listing the games that came out since his introduction.
It's not fair to MK (or DDD) if you don't include literally every game in the franchise.
Most/all of those games came out after Brawl, and MK played a massive role in games like Amazing Mirror. He even got his own mode in Nightmare in Dreamland.

Making Gooey a Kirby echo souns kind of difficult given that he doesn't have the limbs to make Kirby's normals & the use of some specials.
I think it'd moreso just be a bland of abilities between normal & specials, along with Dark Matter abilities, maybe some animal friends tag along. There's a lot of possibilities with Gooey given the fact he can copy abilities.

If Sakurai was like the Mom of Kirby then Shimomura was the Dad. He worked Adventure, Super Star, and Nightmare in Dream Land with Sakurai. And he directed Dream Land 2, Dream Land 3, and Kirby 64. His games are known for having more of a dreamlike and wistful atmosphere along with more simple gamedesign that allows the player to experiment more.
Kumazaki would be like the Fosterparent of Kirby. He's been the general director of the series for about a decade now. His games are known for being really consistent.
